Finally got a proper bipod for my real sword svd. Rgw full steel and based on the improved izhmash (i think?) version. Stiff as hell and a pain to deploy as well as being heavy. I love it! Am hoping it will wear in a bit with use though.4 points -
What is reasonable wear and tear for an airsoft RIF?
Paul72 and 2 others reacted to Adolf Hamster for a topic
guess they don't need to warranty a gun if it got burned by a battery that couldn't take it. not gonna lie, i'd rather a shredded piston than a battery fire any day of the week. which probably explains why my shredded piston collection is a thing but my burned battery collection isn't.....3 points -
Finally received my first load out 😁 super happy with it. Had a little plink in the garden last night and my face lit up brighter than the tracer! and picked and plucked some foam too. Tokyo Marui M4A1 GBBR 6 extra mags with mag pulls Parra Sabre case Bifrost tracer Flashlight 4x Acog style with mini RMR Standard RMR Scope style RMR Acetech Chrono Viper Tech chest rig and dump pouch Sling Shit ton of gas and bbs Grease and oil And more... While its shit. You kind of need to see it from the shop overs point of view. Every person who calls them with a broken gun, will tell him its only just fired a few rounds and barely seen day light. You can break a perfectly good AEG very quickly with bad ammo, over power battery, spamming the trigger faster than the gun can function, getting a jam and keeping firing, doing some "maintenance on it" etc etc So if i was a retailer I would just assume everyone is a dick and write my policy to match I always assume my AEG is going to break and carry a backup. Because.. I am sometimes right The good news is now you can get it correctly shimmed, take out the ton of grease it doesn't need, maybe short stroke the box, add a stronger spring. Very cheap mods making a huge difference. While its apart replace the hob rubber and nub with a mapleleaf. When life gives you lemons3 points

By the sounds of it mate you might need a rubber claymore. Enjoy yourself!3 points -
Blowbacks are indeed great fun, and plenty of folk enjoy collecting airsoft, uh, weapons for target shooting, for the technology, or just as replicas. I say this to distinguish the tools from the experience of skirmishing with them, which not everybody actually enjoys when they're getting slapped in the face by a stranger's balls. I'd encourage you to get along to a site and find out. The actual play experience is much the same whether it's with a ratty rental or a GHK SIG SG 553 GBBR.3 points

Devils advocate: Maybe this person can't join up for reasons beyond their control (medical grounds, disabilities or age for instance) but wishes to live out this fantasy in the nearest way possible. I say go for it, dress up. If you felt obligated to do so you could explain to those who look concerned/disgruntled as to why you're in the attire you've chosen. Show them your best "war face" and kill them all. Live your dream. Enjoy it and have fun. Just don't wear medals, take the role too seriously or use corps/regiment/branch slang/try to pass off as a genuine. Its not like you're walking around in public like this (which is wrong and would bring your integrity, morales and respect into question). Oh, almost forgot......take your hits.2 points -

6 months is indeed the magic number. Under that, any problem is assumed to be a manufacturing defect. Over it, the onus shifts to the purchaser to show that to be the case. Your statutory right to durability isn't really worth that much in practice as the reality is that they have your money and nobody is going to help you[*] get it back unless you want to to go down the small claims route. Disappointing that a G&G has done this, but not at all surprising that an airsoft retailer has told you to do one. Sadly, as it's over 6 months, I'd take it on the chin and sort it myself. [*] However, if you want to get involved in a dick measuring contest, there's nothing stopping you asking your payment processor to initiate a chargeback. The worst they can say is no.2 points

What gun to buy
Tactical Pith Helmet and one other reacted to Joshua Charleton for a topic
As the above users have said, I would highly recommend waiting for your UKARA before buying any guns. For now just rent until you are confident in your purchases. Plus two tone is nasty. When you DO get your UKARA, I would recommend CYMA. They are probably the best bang for buck beginners brand out there. Known more for their AKs but they do have some decent budget m4s. That said, DO NOT be stingy when buying eye pro. 300 is definitely doable if you are only getting essentials, those being: 2 rifles (that probably come with one hi-cap mag each), 2 batteries, 1 charger, 2 sets of eye/face pro.2 points -
Quick maths says a 250mm stock barrel sits fairly flush with the 10.5" CQBR outer barrel, so you'll be looking at the 275mm range for the inner if you're adding an inch to the outer and want the inner 'flush'.1 point
-
So at £210 and in stock new, do we make that £140 for the used RIF and hi-cap and.... £30 each for the "brand new" (used) mid-caps?1 point
-
Nothing special by today's standards its just the fact it's an SA58 and came out when classic army had good build quality. Always want the folding stock version but last time I saw one for sale new it was £400ish before importing costs so sod that.1 point

My first brand new AEG was back in 2004, was a G&G LR300S, cost around £500 to get it shipped from Redwolf HK, broke on 1st game. I would have loved 14 outings in 6 months 🙂 In all seriousness QC has got better but not to the point where I'd personally trust one not to develop a fault within the 1st 6 month - just so much to go wrong. That's just my own personal view, as @Rogerborg states there's nothing stopping you asking your payment processor to initiate a chargeback.1 point

Bodge it and fit a mk23 with an extended inner barrel that will make it a DMR.1 point

What is reasonable wear and tear for an airsoft RIF?
Cannonfodder reacted to Tackle for a topic
14 outings in 6 months & a piston likely stripped, irrespective of the retailers dick attitude, I think in all fairness that's quite a bit of wear & tear so not unheard of for a piston to lose teeth. Justifying a claim using "laws" that were never written with fragile Airsoft toys in mind would be a dick move on your part. IMHO 🤔1 point -

didn't know they did that. that's spectacularly bad, the absolute last component that should be responsible for capping amp draw is the battery being made to supply more than it's rated to......1 point -

Paul72 reacted to Adolf Hamster for a topic
whilst the never fired line is bs, i mean if you've never fired it how would you know if it worked or not? however generally airsoft warranties do tend to have the issue that the way we use our pews means sellers are very conscious about how feasible it is for a malfunction to be user error. it's why you have the whole "11.1v ready" malarkey, it's not that guns without that rating can't run perfectly well on 11.1v, it's just a way of getting out of a potential claim. i swear this is the only reason mini tamiya is still a thing......1 point -

PPS do a gas kar98 don't know if it'd any good probably a g&g clone(there is a g&g in the sales forum at the moment) There is a vsr based KAR made by snow wolf you also have the double bell Springfield 1903.1 point -
As others have said 6 months have passed so you'd have to prove that the fault was there originally, i.e never been skirmished. What company did you buy it from? What battery were you using?1 point
-
Well done mate. Looking at pic id suggest you move that sight protector back, right up against sight. The odds of a bb coming in at an angle and taking your sight out ate mot as slim as you might thing.1 point
-
There only if not fired line is bullshit. Your statutory rights say it has to be fit for purpose, which is firing bb’s. However problem is you’ve had it six months, you cant prove its not been used. If you can go see them face to face, let em see how clean and bused it looks. Perhaps they’ll change there view. Perhaps agree that if they fix it you’ll pay for some minor upgrades while there on. However if you dont trust em go somewhere else like Neg Earth.1 point
-
I don't think anyone can give a definitive answer as more investigation would be needed. Do you mainly use single or auto? How long are bursts? For the price I would expect it has a decent motor but you could look for a better Neodymium high torque. Could need better shimming and service? Or run on 7.4v?1 point

Ahoy and welcome. Dive in, it's great fun, although it will eat every penny of your disposable income (plus all you can borrow). It's absolutely fine to book a rental package and rock up solo to any site - it's a really welcoming hobby, and people are generally very happy to show you the ropes. All you need is to dress for the terrain (footwear) and weather (waterproofs/layers if you're outdoors). You don't need any of your own gear, camo, or even eyepro, although your own eye/face protection might be preferable to a rental mesh mask. Do you have a site in mind to try?1 point -
@RostokMcSpoons The PTS EPS fits perfectly on all the three DE M900's we have at home, including the M906C. It just feels like you're pulling too hard on the "lever" and something may snap, but you just need to pull it down even harder than you think you need too, and I didn't need to remove the pin you've show 👍1 point
-
I got mine, but it took raising a Paypal claim to do it. Belt quality looks decent, but would not recommend the company.1 point
-
This can be a bit tight, but is doable without tools (at least on mine, and the stock tube groove sounds the same). For me, activate rear of lever until it's flat against the stock. Then, get fingers underneath front of lever (so, in front of the pin) and pull down. This will pull the pin further down and should give enough clearance (but can require a bit of pull strength in the fingers). No need to use tools or knock out pins, etc.1 point
-
IME, you need finger strength of a rock climbing jazz pianist to get PTS/Magpul pins to move without tools1 point

PTS EPS stock / Double Eagle M906C - fitting problem
Paul72 reacted to Adolf Hamster for a topic
i had a similar issue with a magpul stock. the standard distance for the pin wasn't enough to clear the back of the stock tube rail, so had to use a pait of pliers/additional leverage (read: "persuasion") to get enough to go on. i ended up shaving down a nub on the back of the lever, giving it enough clearance to slide all the way off. meant it would come off if you weren't careful adjusting it, but not being a big fan of adjustable stocks i had a mark set for the position and only needed to remove it for battery installation.1 point -
You'll have to be careful what you buy to equip both of you for £300. You should definitely rent until you get UKARA registered otherwise you will regret spending all your money on coloured guns.1 point

Paul72 reacted to RostokMcSpoons for a topic
Cheers guys, when I get around to filling the L85-sized hole in my growing collection, I'll give the AA one a swerve. I believe the 'not firing on semi' is a thing common to all of the mechanically-triggered L85s, because the gearbox is partial to half-cycling. Only a MOSFET with some active breaking / pre-cocking can really sort that out...?1 point -
Reddit answer: you need to reshim your gearbox or your gun will explode and you'll be left with hooks for hands. Actual answer: INSUFFICIENT DATA FOR MEANINGFUL ANALYSIS. How hot are we talking? Cosy covfefe mug, radiator scald, or gom jabbar test? What battery are you using? How many rounds are we talking about over how long a period of time?1 point

Is medical alcohol the same as vodka? "It's purely medicinal" To be honest, looking at it in the cold light of day (and some strong lamps) there's just too much to get rid of. I'll have to go over most of the rifle again. This is all experimentation before I have a go on the F2000 so no harm done. Edit: I did use some hand sanitizer gel and tissue paper, that did sod-all, so I tried some some acetone just to see how easy it would be to strip the rifle back to black. In fact that showed it was going to take some work, it smeared the paint a little but didn't instantly remove it either. But this morning I took a brillo pad and a bottle of alcohol foaming sanitiser, and between the rough side of the pad, and the more alcholic foam, it did a great job of gently removing paint - the worst of the speckles have been scrubbed off and still leaving the pattern underneath. I can now leave the gun as-is, it's good enough to live with. So thanks again @rocketdogbert1 point -

Thank you for letting us know, and I'm sorry to hear that. To be honest, I'd got the impression that FRV was some one-man bedroom operation being done on the side. Not necessarily, I turned up at a site years ago, & a team turned up, teens & early twenties, total shower of shit bar one, he claimed to have previously been TA & still had access to berets & cap badges, so in his infinite wisdom thought would mark them out as a team if they all wore them. Thing is, it was my regiments beret & badge, I worked hard for mine & I'd had a couple of mates die wearing theirs, so seeing a bunch of long haired wankers make absolute cnuts of themselves in them really fucked me off, & I told them so🤬. While that situation is rare, my experience shows it can happen, so I'd always tell people in threads like this, be careful, act with respect & if in doubt, don't do it.1 point
