  1. None of them. Buy a Marui.

  2. You pull the trigger and.... ...You've got the safety on, and you swear so loudly thinking it's broken that your enemy hears you, turns around and shoots you ...You've forgotten to cock it (more swearing, same result. Should buy a double action pistol next time) ...You've forgotten to put a magazine in it, they're all still nicely ensconced in their pouches ...You've forgotten to put BBs in the magazine ...You've run out of gas already cos you spent too much time showing off how well it shoots in the cold Or... ... You draw the pistol from the holster and manage to very smoothly eject the magazine in the same movement None of these things have ever happened to me, honest!

  3. It’s a hobby to most of us dude But nothing more disappointing than getting the sneak up on somebody and deciding to full on bad ass and getting the pistol out for the first time you have ever truly needed it!! You’ve got the advantage … Your victim doesn’t know you are there…. You very stealthily, withdraw your pistol from your holster…… Steady your nerves, line up the shot (who knows - the site photographer could be ready for you) You pull the trigger and your pistol shits the bed and vents the guts out of the magazine!! I’ve witnessed this more than a dozen times 😂

  5. I know it's an obvious choice, and it's a plastic slide, but there's a reason everyone goes for them... https://www.defconairsoft.co.uk/product/tokyo-marui-hi-capa-4-3-gbb-pistol/ ... Reliable in all weathers, accurate, easy to upgrade later if you want to. I can personally recommend this one https://www.defconairsoft.co.uk/product/tokyo-marui-hi-capa-5-1-d-o-r-direct-optics-ready-gbb-pistol/ It's slightly upgraded on the standard hi caps, iirc.

  6. Not really bought, more got I sent in my LeatherMan tool that I purchased back in ‘99 whilst visiting Singapore to the supporting retailer for warranty assistance I was hoping for a sharpen and tighten Instead, they “retired” it and replaced it with the current replacement model Well chuffed! I do carry it on my loadout if that counts

  7. That’s the winner there if you want a hi cappa style pistol I never get the incessant fascination for having a metal slide over usability , I mean if your just gonna sit in the house and touch n caress it when watching a gnu pron film (like I do) Fair enough But I know, when it comes down to it, my plastic slide TM will work every time I pull it out in the few and far between times I have needed to

They still do. Though massively over expensive machined hop units that rarely work are thing the Reddit crowd always recommend.

  13. I certainly wouldn't have a full metal green gas 1911 as my only pistol. Honestly, in terms of size, weight, performance etc, I think the TM G19 is one of the best sidearms around...but you should buy something you like the look and feel of. Just know that you're choosing the latter over reliability.

  16. We had a tree surgeon on the team - butter, but with the common sense not to climb up trees to play shooting games When working he would be wearing the safety gear, harness etc, but if needed would shimmy straight up a tree - which was needed more than once when some clever dick would throw an objective prop up a tree. He did once nip up a free as a favour for the site with saw and without harness - the expected happened when he fell out but only resulted in bruising and a limp ……….. Stating the obvious, but players should not be up trees and anything other than screaming from staff to get down now is calling for a public liability case

  22. I think we can all agree, like with so many things airsoft-related, it's completely subjective. I love my GBBRs. I love my NGRS. I play pretty similarly with both (I don't full auto, just a 3rd burst) and I enjoy both equally. The AEG improves my odds of hitting someone, purely due to increased ammo count. Even a well-aimed, considered shot can disappear into the wilderness due to airsoft ballistics being crap. Bottom line, back-ups are a very good idea.

    Information about my gun

I've got a feeling that JG never did engraved trades, who really knows though! I was going to buy a used one of these back in 2005, but the CASV handguard was quite the chonk weight-wise. @screwfix is it full metal?

  28. I'm fine with Army Armament as a brand, but I'd approach the R608 with a little caution. I've seen one with a snapped safety switch, and the owner claimed he'd heard it was a common issue (which you're now hearing about 3rd or 4th hand). It didn't effect the functionality of the gun though.

    TM MP5 NGRS Owners

I am puzzled, why didn't you put a deans on the rif instead of making 5 new connections? It's up to you ofcourse, but the mr30 is inferior to the dean's in everyway.

  30. Can you get a close up of the right hand side of the gun? What do the markings just behind the mag release say? Any idea roughly how old it is? Looks like it might be an old JG/Golden Eagle M4SS Assuming it works OK you might get £75-100 for it.

    So, what did I miss?

The main change I have seen is batteries ( lithium instead of nimh or nicads) and MOSFET use. So far as I can tell there's been little evolution in aegs, gbb pistols seem identical, gbb rifles and hpa are more common and account I think for any progress made over the years. Oh brushless motors are finally here, not common but here.

    So, what did I miss?

Hey again 😉 On the AEG front the budget contenders are JG (JingGong), CYMA, Double Eagle (very good for certain models) and SpecnaArms. Generally you can get a decent performing shooter for £120-£200 so I'd guess prices have come down a bit with quality and performance going up a bit. Probably the main difference with AEGs are the batteries as we generally use LiPos now with intelligent chargers. More power in a smaller package. For GBB pistols & rifles the most common is WE-Tech (WE). Decent performers but materials do tend to wear relatively quickly. TM are still going strong and GHK are highly regarded. I'm sure others will chime in so maybe we should do a poll of everyone's opinion for the rankings

  35. Heard on site: "Stop climbing that tree, you've been told." "It's OK, I'm a tree surgeon, I do this all week." "Well, it's Sunday, so down you come." Shouldn't have needed multiple warnings, of course.

  38. Didn't have an airsoft day as such, but spent a solid 8 or 9 hours helping Carlos with the new CQB site. We were building a structure all day - well one side of it anyway - and forgot to stop for lunch. Good discussions and stories exchanged as well as talking about what types of games to play in the new place as well as a different kind of "warm up" game for the regular site. Poor chap has a lot of work ahead of him to be ready for the opening next year, so I hope the regulars of Special Ops appreciate the effort and money he's putting into it when it opens. He has a model of the final layout showing a good mix of buildings and open areas, so, even though I'm not a great CQB person, I think this will have something for everyone except Bush Wookies and DMRs. Looking forward to some pistol and shotgun games. Plus it's slightly nearer my gaff too.

    Mid game reloading

It wouldn't be good for it that's for sure. I have an Odin (for when I eventually grow up and move to midcaps) with a silicone liner and I use that to refill my hicaps using the thumb and forefinger funnel technique. Most annoying thing is when you forget to close the lid on the magazine or odin and throw a tenners worth of BBs on the floor.

  41. Is there some sort of notion with the Airsoft gods that as soon as you buy a new RIF your car breaks? 😂😂
    1 point
  42. Well, there's your trade off. Snipers and woodland go together like speedsofters and stripy socks. Do you want to snipe? Have you tried it yet? It's generally not the way it's carefully edited to appear on YouTube videos: hits are fewer and further between. And if you liked the constructions at Mayhem, you may love indoor CQB. No weather concerns, short walks to respawn, all action.

  43. https://www.usedairsoft.co.uk/two-tone-replicas/cyma-cm-517_i54998 "Look at me, guys! I bought an airsoft gun to use at a field but I didn't realise I would have to actually pay money to play at a site, nor did I factor in travel when I don't even have a car. I didn't have the patience to wait for a UKARA defence so I flouted the law and did a piss-poor job of removing the blue paint. £100 reflects the regret I have in not researching, planning and asking around before investing so much into something that didn't work out. I think that price is reasonable even though you can buy the same RIF brand new without my 'custom' paint removal for the same price" https://bbguns4less.co.uk/products/cyma-cm517-m4-with-ras-handguard-in-black.html

  48. I'd like to start off this thread by saying that the pistols, rifles and shotguns that I recommend are, and always will be, from my own experience of using them and by popular opinion from regular users on here, other forums and other reputable sources. This thread will also be updated over time. The amount of threads I keep seeing about this subject literally popping up every other week is getting a tad bit annoying, so, I figured I'd create this thread to save people from repeating themselves. So, you're a new player looking for a decent gun hmm? You have a set budget for a gun that will be suitable for skirmishing and won't break anytime soon. If you have a budget of £20 - £60, these guns will do just fine. Primarily gas and spring. - Any Double Eagle/AGM single-shot shotgun: These things have good range with .25g BB's and don't shoot above site limits, for around £30 you can't go wrong. Bison shotguns are a good option if you prefer a different look. - Any Double Eagle tri-shot shotgun: Like the single-shot shotguns, these also have good range but cost slightly more (around £50.) Do not purchase the Marui tri-shots new because, personally, the quality is on par with the Double Eagle tri-shots, not worth above £100. Cyma make metal tri-shot shotguns with folding stocks, full stocks, stockless and all metal or polymer for under or a bit over £100 depending on the model. G&P shotguns are outdated and overpriced, avoid. - ASG, KJWorks, HFC MK23: Absolutely the best gas pistol for under £70, very efficient, accurate and cheap to buy. The included 'silencer' will increase the FPS, try to find the Marui silencer to make it deadly silent. - Cyma AEP's: Like the MK23, these AEPs are excellent for the money, reliable gearboxes, some upgrade options out there on sites such as Eagle6 and Firesupport, magazines are very cheap, LiPo kits are also available and are a worthy upgrade. - HFC gas pistols: These are OK for around £30, average accuracy and gas efficiency, plastics used aren't great BUT the pistols are rugged enough for skirmishing, but they won't stand up to long-term use, consider saving up for the MK23. If you have a budget of £60 - £100, this is an ok budget for a gun. - KJWorks P226, Glocks, M9s and 1911s: These guns are absolutely solid, will last a long time if taken care of. Good kick, average gas efficiency due to metal construction, fully Marui compatible. These are capable of using Co2, but is strongly advised due to inconsistent FPS. Magazines are poor quality and WILL leak during your ownership, replacing them with Marui magazines is advised. The paint that is used is very easily chipped. - WE Glocks, P226, M9s, XDMs and PX4's: Like KJWorks pistols, these pistols are very solid performers and are reliable, average gas efficiency and good range. Avoid purchasing second hand, these pistols are usually very well used in their lifetime, check the condition of the pistol before considering purchasing. The Glocks are slightly fatter than the real thing, so as such, they do not fit most plasic holsters, either trim the holster or purchase an adjustable cloth holster. The paint on the pistols is slightly better than the KJWorks, but will still easily be scratched off. - ASG Dan Wesson revolvers: These guns are reliable, but have no hop up, so they lack range. Only capable of holding 6 rounds, these are not suitable for skirmishing due to the lack of range and the inconsistent FPS. Good, realistic backyard plinkers for collectors. - JG Skorpion, Mac 10: These are very reliable and rugged AEP's, clones of the Marui so plenty of upgrade options and magazines online from sites such as Eagle6. You will be outgunned by regular AEG's such as Combat Machines however due to the small gearbox and weak motor. Will make a decent side arm if using a high-capacity magazine. - Well R4 & R2: Decent AEP's, on par with JG. Clones of the Marui, so upgrade options are available. The plastic Well use for the AEPs are very poor, and will shatter under heavy use. The R4's magazine release will snap if used a lot, so take care. Please consider the JG over the Well if possible. If you have a set budget from £100 - £200, the options are essentially endless. This is the budget you need for a good reliable gun. Spring guns aren't included on this list as you'll end up spending more than you'll realise when you end up upgrading them. AEGS: - Any: G&G Combat Machines/GC16, Cyma AK's/Mp5's/M14's, JG G36/AUG/AK's/G3s, ICS M4's/Mp5's(Sportline)/AK's/G33/Sigs/Mx5's, Classic Army Mp5's/M4's/AK's/P90, SRC G36's, ASG Sten-gun/MP40/MP44/AUGs(JG)/M14(Cyma), APS AK's, King Arms P90 and D-Boys KAC/AK's. Pistols: - Any: Tokyo Marui gbb pistols! Their Hi-capas, Glocks, M9's and 1911's have the most after market parts. KWA/KSC pistols are also very good, the Glocks are extremely robust apart from the full auto versions due to their weak fire selector. Marui pistols will work fine on propane/green gas, though I wouldn't recommend using propane/green gas in them on warm days, stick to HFC gas instead. KWA/KSC gbb's have inferior hop up designs, as the 'nub' that is used to apply pressure is just a tiny ball bearing, whereas in the Marui pistols, they use VSR buckings and regular nubs. "Why aren't sniper rifles/DMR's included?" . Spring guns aren't included on this list as you'll end up spending more than you realise when you start upgrading them to 'outperform everyone on the field'. DMR's are just AEG's; put an oversized scope on an unweildy rifle and you've got a DMR. If you have a set budget above £200 to £300, any AEG will do. Consider Krytac AEG's as they're very well shimmed and have excellent air compression. If you like realism, try gas blowback rifles such as WE/GHK/KJWorks, the WE's will definitely require upgrading for long-term use, also consider HPA use for consistency (or Tippman M4's). If you don't like the idea of buying gas but still want the realism, consider the Marui recoil shock series or CTW's. Hope this helps!
