    How to dmr?

Sorry the suppressor and scope are far too wee for it to identify as a dmr.

  3. The mags are generally limited to 35-44 bbs (the mags contain gas, which power the gun), the mags are much heavier, so it's harder to carry a bunch of mags, so generally you have 5-6 mags at most, so your total amount of loaded bbs is 210 vs someone with a 400 round hicap or dudes rocking 5-6 250 round "midcap" magazine and the guns are louder, so it's easier to pinpoint where the gas gun user is. In addition to that, the performance varies based on the temperature, it's kinda easy for mags to vent all the gas which generally happens at the worst time and any recoil (some aegs recoil) is generally stronger, so aiming is harder. Why do people use them is probably what you're wondering.......the shooting of them is more enjoyable, feels more realistic, the recoil is nice, the constant mag changes is more realistic, the maintenance can be enjoyable and the sweet feeling of hitting a high cap hero etc while on "hard mode" is something else. I may have of got fewer "kills", but the overall experience was richer for it.

    How to dmr?

I think your All over complicating this. All you need is a bipod, massive scope and a huge suppressor. Preferably on something really unsuitable, like a p90. An L85 will do though.

    GBBR thoughts...

Stock answer will be an MWS, and from personal experience, they are superb with lots of third party support. If you're after a MK18, I'd be tempted to buy the cheaper CQB-R and adding your own externals, purely down to the barrel nut issue. Having said that, there are a few options for barrel nut tools now. I think you're right on the SCAR front, that you're limited to WE. Can't comment on their GBBRs, but I have to say I've had a few pistols, and they've all been fine. I'm really interested by the increased range that VFC are putting out, or releasing next year, so that may be worth a look. I know they seem to have had some QC issues in the past, but from what I can gather, the current generation are much better. They also have the official HK licence...

Not at all Dan, that one's been on my L85A3 for some time. This, however has sat on my desk waiting for my L85A2 to be repaired (only moving to have a battery installed).

  14. So have you actually played a game using GBBR are you just going with your feelings? As you are say using a gun where you can't use full auto, will have to have changed all you mags while an AEG user will still have a 100rds in their 1 high cap, is significantly heavier than AEG, will require you to carry 2kg worth of mags and is actively throwing your aim off every time you shoot is not more difficult to use than an AEG with a high cap?

  15. Harder is subjective. Those of us who run GBBR's pretty much exclusivly find all of this second nature and it adds to the enjoyment . But for alot of players it definitly comes under the harder heading. Get into a good position and take selective semi shots ? so much harder than dumping 40 rounds a second into a bush . Strip and clean your gun after a game day ? so much harder then shove it in the cupboard untill next game day , It's all subjective. By the sound of it your play style is heading towards something where GBBRs will suit you.

  17. Excellent news. Just to be clear, what matters is the temperature of the magazines (and what you're filling them from), not the gun itself. I keep mine in my pocketses in cold weather.

  18. Driver Wood is an option - 80% of it is woodland (albeit much of that has now been opened up and is nowhere near as thick as it used to be). The remainder is open 'corridors' - with buses, helicopters, man made barriers etc - and tends to be a bit of a magnet for much of the action. Most games seem to make use of the whole area, so its up to you which patch you frequent.

  19. Hi all, thanks for your help. I heated the G45 up in the house and it worked perfectly through 3 mags. Metal slide pistols on green gas really don’t like temperatures below 5 degrees.

  20. You can try the Battery (part of RIFT Airsoft, the same group Dan alluded to previously). It's got both indoor and outdoor and in much of the site, you have sufficient line of sight for a sniper rifle but you whether you use an AEG, DMR or sniper rifle, you would be limted to 1.13J on up to 0.28g pellets.

  21. As above, GBBRs demand a different play style. Getting into position and picking shots, as well as being aware of round count . No spray and pray antics for us , even when using my GBB M249 it's bursts not hosing. Being aware of mag temperature in cold weather etc. I find my GBBRs are every bit as reliable as my aeg's , which I very rarely use anymore, but are so much more fun, mag changes , recoil , noise and tactical play ! Oh My ! They don't suit everyone, I know plenty of playerrs who have no concept of self control when it comes to slinging BBs , GBBRs wouldn't suit them 😂

  22. Yes. AA mags are the cheapest on the market and they work great in my experience. Also, why do you think that AA's reputation is bad? AA hi capa clones perform well and are quite competitive to other metal slide clones.

  23. Then there's this "Pyro must be authorised by a marshal before use, nothing higher than a MK5 may be permitted on site. Shotgun and 9mm primers are strictly banned" So they'd rather people use things which have a higher potential to cause harm, greater fire risk and leave litter, but why could that be? A cynic would say it's because they want to make a few extra quid selling bangs to players

    Mosfet confusion

For something like a DMR where you want super fast trigger response on Semi then yes, precocking does make a difference. On an MP5? Probably pointless.

    Mosfet confusion

I'll let you know if it's a real thing or more a feel thing. Having the shot fire immediately would feel right and be faster than one not precocked, maybe I'll measure it. Hope the motor doesn't mind.

I have, but only in extreme circumstances. The bigger issue for me with glasses is the gaps around the side!

    Mosfet confusion

Precocking improves semi-auto response. It leaves the spring compressed so it only needs to be pulled just the last part before releasing. Long term, this will weaken it (and perhaps stress the bushings/bearings) so you'll want to clear it at the end of the day / lunch / between games, depending how much you're bothered about a £10 part. One consideration is that if you're running a strong spring and a weak motor, you can encounter situations where the motor is too weedy to start pulling an already heavily compressed spring, and it locks up. It's not hugely likely, but I did experience it a few times before discovering the joys of half decent motors. It's nothing that you can't inflict on yourself without a pre-cock mosfet by releasing the trigger mid-cycle though.

  29. Fine initially, I used the standard mag first, no dramas. As the rain started pouring, and my mags on my chest rig and belt which were exposed, shots became inconsistent. With a significant drop in temperature in the afternoon, I had an increasing amount of dry fire incidents. I was running standard Green Gas however. I need to run a range day, fine tune the hop-up, gas and BB weight choice. I have the feeling I'm not making the best of a fine rifle.

    CYMA MP5 SD6 thoughts

So I have filled in a pair of cut outs so the first position on extending the stock is a useful one. I cleaned the slot, undercut it a tiny bit then used tape to hold in the epoxy on either side leaving the inner rail bit open and dribbled the expoxy in. I used JB weld. A little trimming with a knife took off any high points.

  34. Didn't have an airsoft day as such, but spent a solid 8 or 9 hours helping Carlos with the new CQB site. We were building a structure all day - well one side of it anyway - and forgot to stop for lunch. Good discussions and stories exchanged as well as talking about what types of games to play in the new place as well as a different kind of "warm up" game for the regular site. Poor chap has a lot of work ahead of him to be ready for the opening next year, so I hope the regulars of Special Ops appreciate the effort and money he's putting into it when it opens. He has a model of the final layout showing a good mix of buildings and open areas, so, even though I'm not a great CQB person, I think this will have something for everyone except Bush Wookies and DMRs. Looking forward to some pistol and shotgun games. Plus it's slightly nearer my gaff too.

  38. Unfortunately non woodland sites tend to be cqb and so have strict fps limits. While you could run a bolt action rifle, you'd be limited to the same power levels as everyone else. They do. Scroll down https://www.mayhempaintball.co.uk/events/airsoft-regular-players While it looks like a good site there's a couple of rules which really put me off playing there

  40. Exactly, most airsoft blow back guns won’t perform so well when cold, especially if they have metal slides. I often use one of the rechargeable hand warmers to gently heat the mags when I shoot at the club, works well.

    Mid game reloading

Hire guns will use high capacity magazines, which I believe does mean you need to pour the BBs in as you have been. What I tend to do is hold the magazine and use my finger and thumb to make a sort of funnel to make sure the BBs go in rather than spilling everywhere. When you get your own guns, you can get mid caps instead which don't have that same door that high caps have. Those need to be filled directly into the hole they feed into the RIF from as it's basically just a snaking canal through the magazine with a spring and follower, but I think if you do this with a high cap you might break it? I'm sure someone can confirm that, I just don't use them at all so I don't know.

  45. Yeah, good point. I think I've spent too long on the Internet and I'm becoming too precious 😂 It's an interesting point about niche weapons. I think I mentioned it further up the thread, but TM have models from anime and video games in their range as they know their audience will buy them. I'm not sure a KS-1 would. I'm off to have a word with myself and stroke my MWS until I find my happy place 🤣
