  1. Hello all, this is my first post here and I thought I would share my new AEG turned DMR, the Double Bell SR25 (this one) I haven't really seen any reviews or videos on their SR25 so I thought I would share my thoughts on what I like and don't. First off the build quality. Surprisingly pretty good for how much the gun cost. Everything feels sturdy and well made, no wobble and a comfortable pistol grip. The only thing that felt SUPER cheap and got instantly replaced was the solid stock. It felt way to fragile, one drop or hard knock and it could shatter kind of fragile. Another bad point is the stock motor, I fired the gun 4 times through my chrono for a stock reading and the gearbox locked up. Now this could of been due to the fact that the gun is locked to semi-only by bespoke with the selector plate but it didn't matter as the gearbox was going to be opened anyway. The gun has a quick spring change like the Cyma platinum series. Just removed the stock and twist the spring guide until it pops out, simple! Internally it has a V2.5 SRS gearbox which is a bonus! It has standard ok gears which I replaced, the nozzle was metal with an o-ring and the piston had steel rack teeth with a decent bearing head, the cylinder was ported which I also replaced along with the cylinder head. The air seal however from stock was REALLY good. So far impressed. My piston had the 19 teeth but it was exactly like the picture above. Now some issues, I had to send the gun to a local tech as It was causing a massive head ache, it turns out the stock cylinder is smaller then the replacement non-ported SR25 cylinders. Double Bell SR-25 Cylinder SHS SR25 Non-Ported Cylinder With a bit of modification he got the cylinder in with the gearbox closed. The Front of the gun you have a 420mm brass 6.02 inner barrel (the websites say 500mm, well its not) and a rotary hop up chamber, it felt a bit cheap so I replaced it. New parts inside of the gun. SHS SR25 Gears with perfect shimming. SHS Non-ported Cylinder SHS V2 Cylinder head Perun AB++ mosfet XT 22TA high torque motor XT M130 spring Stock piston Stock nozzle ZCI Rotary hop up chamber Maple Leaf 6.02 410mm inner barrel Maple Leaf MR Hop 70 Maple Leaf Omega nub I'm using a 9.9v LIFE battery. I replaced the cheap feeling hollow stock with a Cyma SR-25 solid stock, it only needed to be slightly shaved on the bottom of the stock to fit. The finished product. I'm using 0.32's and I'm getting 341-343 fps. Perfect for my site! I'm pretty happy with the build, I'll be using it for the first time this Sunday hopefully with no cock ups!

Just got my first airsoft weapon yesterday and can't wait to try it out. Been taking the young lad for a while and just renting the gear but looking forward to getting into the hobby properly.

    Good evening

Welcome. As above, you don't need to spend a grand to get yourself a decent gun and loadout. I've had some guns from the budget process range which have out performed guns costing several times more Have you played yet? If not then I suggest getting a few games under your belt as it'll give you a better idea of what suits you and more importantly what doesn't. You'll be able to see what others are using and talk to them about it, most airsofters are more than happy to show off/talk about their kit and will probably let you fire off a few shots. Another reason is that it means you'll be able to get your site membership (it's not a licence) in place so you're not stuck with an absolutely gopping two tone.

Echoing that, you'll rarely regret having a generic M4 AEG in your bag as a backup or loaner, even if you accept Satan into your heart and go HPA for your main toy.

  10. You've got a great range of kit that a quick add up is over £7k (and that was low balling some areas). If your goal is to sell it fast, my suggestion would be to split it into smaller chunks and sell it at lower than achievable prices. Finding a buyer who wants all of that and has the readies is going to be hard. I'd suggest taking all the high end kit to kit pest, Google him, he buys and sells high end kit. You won't get top dollar, but he'd probably take it all and you'd get the money quick. Then list the rifs and nods separately. If you want to maximize the money, sell it all separately, it'll take longer, but you'll end up with a lot more cash. As a job lot, you're really limiting your buyers and most serious buyers will buy it to sell on the majority of the kit, so you'll have to allow for them to have a chunky margin.

  11. Yes a lot of gear there fella. As @JimFromHorshamhas said just bit the bullet and let folk know what you are hoping to get for it all. I understand you want to sell as a job lot but looking through the list I can see a couple of thing that I would maybe have a go at and I'm sure others would as well. I know it's a pain taking pics and describing individual items but that may be the way to go Good luck with sale though👍

    Good evening

Yo. Said it many times....decent pew can be had for sub £200. Bang another £100 over a few months to add mags and a sight of some sort and you're golden until the the bug bites. Then you're £6k in the hole on a hobby that your other half detests, but at least gets you out of the house for a day twice a month that ends up in you returning a sweaty mess as apposed to a drunken sweaty mess (depending on your life choices of course).

    Good evening

No real need to spend £1K, just get yourself a reasonable mid-priced AEG (electric) M4 to start off (£200 - £300), pistol if you really want but it's not essential, it's more of a "fun" purchase. No need for all the gucci gear either. Far better to dip your toe and then slowly build up over time. Have fun.

  17. Hello there, We are a custom coatings company based in South Wales. We offer almost any wet spraying applications a swell as hydrodipping. We offer Cerakote Ceramic coatings, powdercoat, relaquering, chrome effect, custom paint effects and hydrodipping. We have just started doing Cerakote on air soft parts and it seems popular so im trying to spread the word a little. We have been cerakoting a while now but mainly air rifles and motorbike parts. We (myself and my other half, Dave) have been applying coatings since 2011 when our daughter was born and we decided to go self employed. Prior to that Dave was custom painting cars for many years and then we both ventured into the dental industry as engineers and managers. Oh how times have changed haha. We are a family business who care about our reputation and what we provide to our customers. A bad review is never acceptable and we do everything we can to make sure we keep all our customers happy. Cyma MP5/G3 claw mount fits perfectly and rock solid. Cyma extended m-lok didn't stay in place due the gun's recoil and it doesn't fully held by those metal tabs on the upper receiver so it's waste of money. Haven't tried Marui ones.

Not taped up LOL is camo tape for use in the field. Actually I have weathered it now and looks a lot better as attached. Saying that, you do have to be careful with them 😉

I mean that's the same for everything in this lark 😂 but airsoft stuff is too cheap to ever say anything much with certainty, hell probably applies to the likes of Magpul too I'd imagine they pump out millions of plastic bits per year so there's gonna be tolerance wobble. I'm sure someone here said their Magpul handguard dropped on easily, whereas with the one I have it can just about be persuaded on and is then one major sweary effort to remove, totally not viable for game use and currently being filed and sanded in to submission. On the other hand my VFC old school Surefire style lighted handguard fits great and just needed a hairs width of plastic reaming out of the pin hole to work perfectly, but I'd bet other people who try other examples of that handguard on their own TMs will have different experience. I had to have a LOT of work done to a real collapsible F stock to get it to fit, not a good idea at all. Personally my sum up is that I'd only expect TM NGRS MP5 stuff to just drop in, maybe the couple of laylax bits. RS and VFC GBB stuff is often close enough to be viable after work, but probably expect it to not fit out of the box. I don't think any other AEG MP5 stuff is viable except maybe some optics mounts but probably with work. If you approach it like that, you hopefully won't go super far wrong.

@BigStew I have a real mount that fits, so *presumably* they all will, also anything for the VFC GBB line seems good, or at least close. I think the old style AEG stuff often needs work from what someone else posted (?).

    Good evening

Ahoy and welcome. I think we'd generally recommend an electric rifle (for magazine capacity, cheap running and all-weather use), and a gas blowback pistol for fun factor. The good news is that there are few bad electric rifles/carbines out there at the moment if you stick to the range sold by decent retailers like PatrolBase. As you've seen, there's a vast range available, so probably best to pick a weapon platform first. M4, AK, G36, MP5 are popular, but there are great choices in M14, P90 and some of the gopping bullpups as well. Most of them can all be made to perform much the same if you're prepared to drop a bit of money, so whatever you like the look and feel of is the right choice for you. Pistols, you'll see Tokyo Marui suggested as a default choice, and they are very decent. You'll want to find a reason to buy anything else. I bought a very cheap Army Armament R-17 because I am very cheap, but if your budget is higher, you'll need a better reason than that. I'd echo the advice to rent at least once, if only to blag a go on a variety of guns - airsofters are generally very keen to show off our toys. I'm sure you've seen the issues with buying realistic imitations, and that generally you'll get site membership / a UKARA number by playing at least 3 times over at least 8 weeks at the same site. Other methods are available if you really don't want to wait, depending on the retailer.

  32. For anyone that is not aware of the new standard there is a BSI white paper available here: https://www.bsigroup.com/globalassets/localfiles/en-gb/product-certification/ppe-eye-wear/en-iso-16321-white-paper-230720.pdf If you look at the physical requirements tests, while they say that the new 'C' impact rating is equivalent to the old EN166F rating, they actually use a bigger, heavier test weight now. The one thing that does confuse me a little though is the use case: Might make any insurance claims tricky if they fail in use, seeing as the standard only actually applies to eyewear for occupational or educational use.

  34. What are you hoping to achieve ? The power output on that model is already good, allegedly 330-360, if it's at the higher end of those figures it's already bordering on the UK site & legal limits, chucking a higher rated spring is likely to exceed those limits. Same goes for hop & barrel swaps, you may end up upsetting what's is already a good combination, reviews on the later asg models are generally favourable, so why not start off with the gun itself & 3 or 4 mags, play at least a couple of games to allow it to bed in & only then if you find it's lacking in any area, consider upgrades ?

  35. Yeah, tbh honest, the prices seems to be going up every few months We are doing some construction work and got two for storage while things are commencing. Single use are definitely the way to go, both of ours are minty inside and out (apart from a few scratches at the tie down points) but makes a great man cave, and as you say…… SECURE 👌

  37. Think this is the latest FS thread.. It's extremely rare I have any sort of CS experience at all with an airsoft shop, but I've placed a few orders with FS recently. With my current living situation (have my old bedroom back home, mostly live on base 95%+) I'll sometimes order something then not touch it for months, so I can kinda lose track now and then. I bought some stuff what I thought was maybe 3 months ago, then another order about 3 weeks ago. E-mailed asking to return an item from the older order and 2 items from the newer - all 3 of said items totally unused, brand new condition in their packaging and fully ready for resale. Bearing in mind I once returned a multicam shirt to an american retailer 2 years later, which they were fine with again because it was new with the tags and in it's bag ready for resale so I thought this would be ok. Worst case they can just say no I'd be fine with that too. The reply I got was.. interesting. On the one hand, turned out my older order was actually 6 months ago and I'd lost track. The items had been sat there sealed up for all that time, so if they'd just said 'as per our policy which is X, we'll not accept a return'; I have no idea what the actual law is personally but that's fine, whatever. Being told, quote "it's unfair for you to even ask" however did feel patronising and I caaaan't stand being condescended to so I wasn't a fan of that. Just a professionally worded reply that I'd normally expect from a CS e-mail saying no, was all that was necessary. I returned the 2 items from the more recent order following their policy strictly, got those refunded pretty quickly so credit where it's due there. Bit of a mixed bag.

  39. @Mr haymes @Pseudotectonic The key point on airsoft is that compliant airsoft guns that are within the definition linked are no longer firearms within the act. Prior to that exemption they were ‘low power air weapons’ which are within the definition of a firearm A key technicality is “for the purposes of this act” Therefore take legal advice on what definition of a firearm applies to your restrictions to ensure that your airsoft BB guns were & are not an issue Sometimes a definition is carried across legislation and sometimes it refers to ‘as defined in’. If not specified then it’s subject to interpretation
