How often do you play?
son of dan and 2 others reacted to Dan Robinson for a topic
Every two weeks usually, sometimes more. In the run up to the boy emigrating we were sometimes doing two a week. Expensive but good father-son bonding. I maintain that, once the equipment is bought, Airsoft is one if the best value for money days out..... £30+BBs per person, and i get a 7 to 9 mile run, lunch and, when the boy was here, a fun day without fear of disobedience. Once I've emigrated next year I will only get a few chances a year probably, so im packing what I can in.3 points -
which has the higher FPS
BigStew and 2 others reacted to Colin Allen for a topic
In order for anyone to advise you which is best, you first need to define what you mean by best. Even if you do that, you will probably get a lot of different opinions. As to FPS, that is impossible to advise; guns that are nominally the same and are from the same manufacturer can have very different power outputs.3 points -
which has the higher FPS

This. High fps doesn't equal better, for example while my Galaxy MP5K has a higher fps than a stock TM, given the choice I'd pick a TM over it any day of the week3 points -

Eh, they were decent value for money a few years back, but they're not brilliant guns, just a pleasant surprise given the price. And, yes, "best" is entirely subjective. A reasonable rule of thumb is to find a CYMA model at the price that you want to pay, and then look for reasons to get anything else for that money.2 points

How often do you play?
Cannonfodder and one other reacted to RostokMcSpoons for a topic
I play every couple of weeks because that's the cadence at Spec Ops... I tried another site nearby, it didn't go so well, so I've decided I'm best off sticking with what I know for the moment - and spending some of the savings on the usual consumables for the next one, and for back garden plinking (though even that's limited due to our house cat who would happily try to make a run for it when the patio door is open, and m'wife insisting our neighbours will hate the sound of my guns and will therefore cause armed police to descend upon us!) Unfortunately(?) I've missed a recent game for a spa trip, and I'm missing the next as I'll be traveling back from a holiday. The good news for me is that Carlos reckons the CQB site is on the cusp of opening, so I'll be able to get my 'fix' even if I miss a woodland game day. And there are actually some well-regarded sites nearby (around MK and Northampton) that I should have tried by now - with my job situation looking a bit happier, I might get to try 'em out soon. Where is it you live, @DanBow?2 points -

High FPS and best aren't the same thing. Also the highest FPS you can have is set by 1st the law and 2nd site you play at rules. It is also good idea to be at least 10% under the site limit as if you are chrono'd over the limit. The best case us, if you don't have a back up and there are no spare rental guns you are packing up and going home.2 points

Double eagle Noveske n4 - MWS clone
Gunboat Diplomat and one other reacted to mightyjebus for a topic
I've got one here. Initial impressions are it's a good copy of the MWS. Everything works as it should and the parts that need to be steel are steel. Negatives are it's very dry out the box and needs a good lub. I have a horrible high pitched ping from the recoil spring but I think a bit of lub will sort that out. The other thing to watch out for is the QC. I've found a few loose screws straight out the box so it's worth giving it a once over when you get one to make sure everything is tight. It might even be worthwhile using loctite on anything that is loose out the box. Also worth pointing out with mine that the FPS is very consistant with very little variation between shots which is nice.2 points -
I get this, but at the same time I sometimes pair with newbie snipers as well so that I can give them some pointers and ideas on how to play the role. If we don't teach the noobs, they won't learn. That said, even if we teach the noobs that doesn't necessarily mean that they will learn either ?2 points

More tea Vicar? ? Yeah every two weeks....hang on what are we talking about? Oh yeah I try and play every Airsoft once a month.?1 point
-
Usually every couple of months, but hoping to increase again to once a month. My son also having a hectic football schedule means he can't join in every time, so I keep an eye out for Saturday games too. I do try and get to the range more frequently though, even for a couple of hours. Sometimes that's preferable to playing. Less cost, less kit, less hit taking1 point

I find the cyma gearboxes tend to sound nicer and be a bit crisper than jg ones. Perhaps they are better shimmed. It it were me I'd lean towards the cyma. Saying that, I own a JG sl8 (thumbhole stock g36) and I'm really happy with it. As Roger says there isn't much in it really.1 point

How to setup ad-hoc fire teams
Cocha reacted to The_Lord_Poncho for a topic
Last time i played, there was a new chap, with rental gear. I usually encourage them to tag along and actually quite enjoy random ad-hoc pairings on the field, but this guy was a little different - really crashing around, and insisting on shouting despite the enemy being rather close and us being somewhat behind their forward line. After quite a few unsuccessful attempts by me and another guy with us to quieten him down, I'm appalled to admit that we encouraged him to pursue 'a flanking manoeuvre' into an enemy base to get predictably lit up.... Well, it's all a learning process!1 point -

I've had a set of this for years and years. I actually have two large packs for mine and thus equipped use it for hiking/camping etc. You need to get the inner, padded hip belt to make it comfy. The plastic tags inside will hurt like billy-o otherwise after a days game especially if it's a touch loose. I scavenged my extra pouches from a set in Hooper's Surplus in Norwich. They are very helpful, give them a call and see what they have left. Flecktarn UK also had a decent selection of bits, but these are no longer sold by the German govt. as they feared the diplomatic fallout from Kurdish militias buying them and issuing them as kit. A German filmsim team snap up what appears on E-Bay quite often, but dig and bits can be found.1 point -

UKARA - I'm confused! Sort of.
Tactical Pith Helmet reacted to Dan Robinson for a topic
One of the reasons I have a special Photo Album for Airsoft - I won't be able to play the UK very much from next year, but I might like to buy a pew every so often, so my UKARA is going to drop off soon. Hoping this kind of thing will help when dealing with shops here. As far as I know there is no requirements in Japan, as I just walked in and bought guns there last year, even managing to use my passport to get the VAT back. All online places have asked for my UKARA, but only one physical shop has insisted on it.1 point -

You've got me second-guessing myself, but IIRC there's a single spring in the ASG tri-shots, driving three pistons. That's how the CYMA tri-shots work (which I also have and wouldn't recommend disassembling!) - or rather two concentric springs. So, yes, which one would you "upgrade", and to what? Dunno about other brands, but everything's just a clone of a clone of a clone, innit.1 point
