  1. The colour from some brands like maple leaf is just an identifier as to the particular compound, so meaningful but not because of the colour if that makes sense. By angle i assume you mean rubbers being quoted in degrees, eg 50 degree 60 degree. That's not an angle, it's a measurement of the hardness of the rubber, if you think of hardness in aeg rubbers as being similar to car tyres it's not too far off. A softer (lower degree) rubber will be grippier and more effective at spinning a bb, especially heavier bb's, but can more easily deform which might cause sealing problems in higher energy builds with more chamber pressure. For aeg rubbers they're generally universal, or at least as universal as anything in this hobby is. You can find some buckings wont play well with some brands of barrel or hop unit etc. A good example is maple leaf buckings tend to have longer than usual feedlips, a good thing for better sealing but can in some guns protrude too far into the feed tube making it harder for the magazine to push rounds past. There's not much of a guaranteed rule for if a particular gun will get along with a particular bucking but in most cases it's not an issue. In terms of which one to buy well you ask 10 different people and you'll get 17 different answers. I typically reccommend the maple leaf macaron with omega nub to lift anything you can throw at it, or if the gun doesnt play ball then pdi w hold with standard nub if you're not lobbing over 0.32g. Before you try changing bucking, try some good quality heavier ammo first, how heavy is up to you how much money you're happy to send downrange per trigger pull but a lot of folk tend to settle on the 0.28-0.32g range for a balance between cost and performance. Changing hop rubber is mainly an excercise in allowing a given gun to lift heavier ammo to then get the range/accuracy benefits the heavy rounds provide, but tbh a lot of stock guns aren't too bad out of the box and can often be ok to lift up to the 0.32g range.

SWMBO likes a clean house.... we have a Roomba, two cordless Dysons (one long one short), a mains powered Dyson and a steam mop. The latter of which is replacement number 3 in 4 years despite being filled with soft water. *sigh*. Roomba has more miles on her than your average family car. The problem lies in that I am 6' 7". SWMBO is around 5' 2" so I get to see the bits she misses. Really fucks with her OCD when i pick her up to see my POV and she sees the bits she can't reach 🤣🤣🤣🤣.

    Barrel length

For aegs it's down to the ratio of the cylinder volume to the inner barrel volume. If the volume of the barrel is greater than the cylinder the air will stop pushing on the bb before leaving the barrel. Conversely too short (lower volume) and the bb will have left the barrel before the air can fully expand. In a gas gun the gas carries on pushing the bb as it expands so (assuming every other variable is matched) a longer barrel will give more time for the gas to push the bb and so give it a higher muzzle energy

I'll second the above posts, as well as add this: In general, a very short barrel can be made to shoot just about as well as a long barrel. Airsoft does not benefit in any way shape or form from a long barrel, as the only thing the BB needs is enough time to fully stabilize in the barrel. In RS shooting barrel length is much more important because RS bullets travel faster and have much less time to stabilize. How fast BBs stabilize in your RIF is individual to your setup, your BBs used, and several other factors. As a general rule... 300mm seems to be the sweet spot where accuracy and length meet. You gain nothing by going above, but may gain accuracy by lengthening to 300mm. However, for example, my primary uses a 260mm and gets amazing accuracy. This is just a ballpark and not a hard rule. Range in general is governed by the joule output, BB stability, and BB backspin/weight. These are all, for the most part, independent of barrel length.

  7. Good call on playing first and “upgrading” later! Many of what we call “upgrades” are situational, specific, and many companies and parts aren’t actually any better than stock, and can in fact be worse. It’s good to take your time, so your research, and learn from those that have made mistakes before you! Adolf is correct—you will get numerous different answers from everyone, and it’s your choice as to what you want to go with. Chances are everyone’s suggestions will work fine. Here’s the skinny: in simple, the hop rubber is the rubber piece that goes over your barrel and, when depressed by the hop arm/nub, provides backspin to the BB. Some designs use a forked contact patch, the original (or legacy) design uses a mound shaped patch, and others use flat patches or concave patches and various other shapes. The best shape depends on your setup and application, but suffice it to say that you can make any of them work great. For a beginner, I would recommend changing to the PDI W-hold, Krytac orange or blue, G&G blue, or another reputable forked nub rubber, as they tend to offer better performance than legacy style rubbers (in my experience) like the Prometheus purple and other mound style rubbers (the rubber in your gun is probably mound styled). The forked nub rubbers (or split nub) are also easy to tune. You don’t need to change your nub, and you shouldn’t suffer from overhop issues. I should note, in general before changing anything, you should clean everything around and inside the barrel group and hop unit thoroughly with rubbing alcohol, and you can also do DIY stabilization mods that may increase accuracy by a lot. These are mods like shimming your hop arm, shimming your inner barrel inside your outer barrel, and shimming your hop unit in your receiver. I wrote a full guide to accuracy in general HERE Not everyone will agree with my specific opinions, but in my guide I aim to provide a general understanding of how the system works, the principles behind upgrading, and parts and consumables you may use to get there.

Outside of the extremes, not really. Or at least it's generally hard enough to get a gun dialled in well enough to where the nominal barrel length is something to care about. So no need to stick a longer barrel in, if anything doing so will change the voluming requirements so unless the cylinder volume is changed to match the new length a longer barrel is as likely to make the gun shoot worse.

  11. It's to do with an aeg being a fixed energy system whereas a gbb/hpa is a fixed pressure system. If you make the bb stay in the barrel longer (wether it be a longer barrel or a heavier round being slower to accellerate) then the gas gun/hpa is just going to keep adding more pressurised air until the bb leaves. Whereas with an aeg it can't have more energy than was stored in the spring to begin with. That's a bit of an oversimplification as there's all sorts of gas expansion shenanigans going on and there's the whole thing with weighted pistons but its close enough for government work.

  12. A man boarded an airplane and took his seat. As he settled in, he glanced up and saw the most beautiful woman boarding the plane. He soon realized She was heading straight towards his seat. As fate would have it, she took the seat right beside his: Eager to strike up a conversation he blurted out. "Business trip or pleasure?" She turned, smiled and said. "Business. I’m going to the Annual Nymphomaniacs of America Convention in Boston." He swallowed hard. Here was the most gorgeous woman he had ever seen Sitting next to him and she was going to a meeting of nymphomaniacs! Struggling to maintain his composure, he calmly asked. “What’s your Business at this convention?" “Lecturer." She responded. "I use information that I have learned from my Personal experiences to debunk some of the popular myths about sexuality." “Really?” He said. “And what kind of myths are there?” “Well.” She explained. “One popular myth is that African-American men are The most well-endowed of all men, when in fact it is the Native American Indian who is most likely to possess that trait. Another popular myth is That Frenchmen are the best lovers, when actually it is men of Mexican Descent who are the best. I have also discovered that the lover with Absolutely the best stamina is the Southern Redneck." Suddenly the woman became a little uncomfortable and blushed.. "I’m Sorry." She said, “I shouldn't really be discussing all of this with you. I don’t even know your name." "Tonto." The man said. "Tonto Gonzales, but my friends call me Bubba." ..........

AEGs have a set volume of air in the cylinder they will force down the barrel. Gas guns (and I think HPA too. I don’t own one so no first hand experience) will keep pushing out gas to fill the volume behind the BB until it leaves the barrel and the pressure drops allowing the rocket valve to close and divert the pressure to cycle the action. TM gas rifles have 250mm barrels no matter the outer barrel length to limit Joule creep and keep within Japanese laws.

  16. chaps, just to add to the growing comments, long time gbbr user, dabbled in AEG once not for me, could never get my head round a battery powered gun. never mind. I've owned several makes styles of GBBRs and every time come to my mws's ( not slating any brands, just my preference) after building a nice mws backlog, i come across this double eagle noveske, in the UK £350 and all i can say this is a no brainer for those looking to move to GBBRs or an mws eco system the build quality is really good, as stated above the upper and lower fit together seriously tight no wobble. internals well its an mws theres no ifs or butts about it, bolt locks on my mws and GM mags, even the mag that comes with it, is close to a GM mag. not been able to fully skirmish it yet and i do have some of the standard upgrades on there way but its certainly a thumbs up for the reasons stated above.

  19. It definitely could, although you'll need a few extra mags and/or change how you play. However its worth noting that gbb mags tend to be relatively heavy so the weight soon ads up when you're carrying several.

Are there different sizes and how would I know which one to get? As a newbie, with a bog standard RIF, I know there's a lot of upgrades but im going to use it first, then see what i need but this one seems like a complete no brainer. Especially as there's just the little ring thing and nothing else!

In AEGs it's way too complicated for a simple yes or no. Cylinder to barrel ratio is what affects AEGs, but honestly it's pretty minor. In gas guns, barrel length affects how it performs because of joule creep, so when using heavy BBs, a longer barrel gun will typically shoot harder than a shorter barreled gun, though this isn't necessarily a good thing as it can bring guns over the limit. As someone who likes both gas guns and long-barreled rifles, it's something I'm constantly struggling with

  28. Keep it simple , start off with a simple Prometheus purple hop rubber & bucking . Use the same ammo you have and see the difference then consider also going up a weight in BB if you are using .20g . hop rubbers should be treated as consumable parts , check often , replace if you notice any damage or wear . however … this is all assuming the gun isn’t working as it should be right now , if it is, leave it alone until it isn’t

  31. Actually, yes, G36C is a good shout. The CYMA claims 2.3kg, the JG 2.4kg, but as you say, the front rails are surprisingly heavy (and removable). If you're running an optic, then you can remove the iron sights, and even lose the stock if you want to shave every gram. Actually, every gram would be losing the top rail as well, and eyeballing it. Bullpups are also viable, as are "SMGs" (everything's shooting 5.95mm BBs). A P90 come in at 2kg, and is very handy. Whatever you go with, one thing I'd suggest is considering an optic on a tall riser. Not having to hold the gun up at your eye level can make a big difference, and all the tacticool room-clearing bois are loving having an extra 2" of erection. I have actually run this in CQB and it works well, especially with a full face paintball mask. Bit of an issue with shooting through windows and such, but that's less of an issue outdoors.

I’ve got a Standard Black Motor (https://www.warheadindustries.com/warhead-industries-brushless-motor) which is slightly more expensive, but if I truly honest with myself the Base Motor would have been fine. The Ronin Motor is the best, but I’d be surprised if I saw the difference in cost between that and a Black Motor in performance

This seems like a perfect example of why secondhand prices in this hobby tend to be so low, you can have a gun that doesnt look that bad in photos, it may well shoot, but that doesnt mean it can't still have a myriad of horrors lurking under the hood.
