  2. Imho, if someone is hit, irrespective of the power of the hit, & they then start to analyse it in their head for the possibility of avoiding taking the hit, they're nothing more than a cheating cnut. No site should be planting the seed in people's heads "if you think it's a ricochet, you go ahead & ignore it" What next, "if your wearing a plate carrier with fake plates fitted & the bb's only hit you in the plates, keep playing cos your feckin invincible".

  7. Nobody said you are, although I'm sure that's what someone who doesn't call their hits would say 😁 As others have posted, if in doubt just call it. You're only going to be out of the game for as long as it takes to walk to respawn. Just because a shot feels like it doesn't have much power behind it or comes from an unexpected angle doesn't mean it's a ricochet. A sniper or sneaky player could've gotten into a position where they can put fire down from another angle and you assuming the shot was a ricochet is almost asking to be shot again, often to a more sensitive bodypart and/or with a longer burst

Fair, the range is very good off them but as I have mine set absolutely on the nose for the 0.25’s allowed as a max at the Black Site I’m loathe to change everything for other weights outdoors. On a still day I would be surprised if you had issues, but as soon as you introduce wind the lack of ammunition means you can’t get into a long range scrap with AEG’s with their larger mags. I run Ultrair in my Umarex P8A1 all year round, and whilst it gets close in the proper heat I’ve never had a concern.

You'll be fine with ultrair, I run it year round in my TM G17. Only time to really avoid standard propane/green gas with most TMs in the UK is when the temperature gets higher. Over 25C and you'll be best off stepping down to a lower power gas

Yeah looks like it. After my first proper game with the MP7 and it having a group size of 2985892689431 MOA at 5m with some random gas that came with it I disappeared down the rabbit hole of spec sheets to find one that was ‘dry’, but also didn’t have the aroma additive given to Propane for people to detect leaks. Have you seen the new ASG gasses? The 178 is absolutely not for anything other than properly cold conditions (even with the NPAS backed out the Chrono just read ‘nope’) The standard Ultrair is equivalent to the new 135 (which does have silicone in it) for temperature behaviour. Tl;Dr Ultrair (gold/beige can) good

    Why the sudden hype?

I definitely think there is an element of the first two. Can't confirm on the third, but everyone looks at GBBRs and thinks they're really cool (they are), but can't deal with the low ammo count and the fact that consistency goes on holiday as soon as you flip on the fun switch. Definitely a niche choice and I am happy to be in that niche.

It was selling, not buying but I've just sold a load of RIFs there today and it was a good experience. I contacted them via WhatsApp and discussed prices and was happy with the prices agreed. To be honest I was a little concerned that I would get there and have to renegotiate prices on everything over any tiny discrepancy in condition, but this fortunately wasn't the case. The only change in price was a GBBR that turned out not to function properly when tested and I thought it was fair enough that they wouldn't offer me the stated price when it needed work doing to fix it. It took all the hassle out of bulk selling kit and I thought the prices were sensible given they need to maintain a margin to resell things for a profit. I'd definitely recommend them if you want stuff shifting without messing about with private sales.

So Patrolbase put up used the wrong spec sheet and/or cut-and-pasted the info from another page. I've already used Ultrair quite a bit in my VFC GBBR and it seems to work well for me.

  17. Meanwhile, the greatest improvement to the VMP's looks... Pisstaking aside I think you might be onto something. If you could break up the silhouette of just 'plastic brick with a handle' it might be bareable enough to use (if you're stevie wonder, anyway). I'd still take a KWA MP9 for a few quid extra any-day if they were in bloody stock anywhere.

I had a think back and I did indeed get a customs bill from my last order with WGC a few months back, so yeah definitely a toss of the coin type situation. I only mention it as I've long been a fan of importing most stuff given the much wider product range available outside of the UK, but I do want people to do it properly and have the extra 20-25% cash set aside. If you do have that and you get lucky then hey mega bonus, you're in the money, treat the mrs - but if you don't have it and you bring in a £500 parcel then an extra unplanned bill of well over £100 is going to be horrendous.

Here’s the data sheet for Ultrair that shows no lube https://actionsportgames.com/files/files/ecom/products/Datasheets/14571_safetydatasheet_english.PDF And here’s the data sheet that’s for their gas with lube in it (note 1% silicone is listed) https://actionsportgames.com/files/files/ecom/products/Datasheets/19893_msds.pdf Ultrair will sort you out

  23. I doubt it is. I've used loads of different brands of mags through my Specna Arms hop unit and nozzle when I was doing testing. S-mags, battleaxe, nuprol, nuprol hex mags, valken, PTS and then again after i'd rebuilt the gearbox with new parts. Never had a feed issue. Disagree. I'm still using that hop rubber & nub combo in my build with the stock blue plastic hop unit and i've never had a feed issue. I would first suggest making sure the hop rubber itself has no oil/grease/lubrication on the outside or inside. This could be a potential cause. I'd also suggest checking how much play the hop arm has and turn it all the way off/on and check if there's excess play (and it's actually working). Look down the barrel with the hop fully on and make sure it's protruding into the barrel a good amount. I would have suggested cleaning the barrel in case there's anything in there causing inconsistency with the BBs but you say it's doing it on the stock barrel too. When I install hop rubbers I like to press down on the hop window (on the barrel) and make sure the contact patch is fully visible. I do this again once i've rebuilt the hop unit to make sure nothings moved.

  25. Do you remember that film where the ad agency came up with honest adverts? "Volvo. They're boxy, but good" That always stuck with me for some reason (therefore: a good ad!). The problem with the Vorsk is it's boxy, and not necessarily good. However I think it could be improved quite a bit with a decent foregrip, and a PEQ box on the side, and a decent sight on top, to break up the "box with rif rails" look. Oh, and the suppressor.

I hear you, and I must admit, I umm-ed-and ahh-ed about going overseas for a RIF for a good while. I've used WGC once before, when I bought a few Guns Modify P-Mags, and again, no additional charges. I ordered a charging handle the other day so we'll see if third time's a charm! I do generally go for UK retailers (with FS a particular favourite) especially for RIFs, but the price difference was too good to pass up, even with the risk of additional charges. Good luck with your Mk18, wherever you choose 👍

That seemed to me like a very sensible test (I was the one flagging up that Ultrair, according to specs on one site I'd seen it has silicone lube in it. I'll try to find it. I don't think I count as the 'hive mind' ) So I tried with the three gases at hand to me right now, squirting them each at a sheet of A4 printer paper: 1) Nuprol 1.0 - made the paper wet with the first shot, but that evaporated leaving no residue. Subsequent squirts didn't do anything to the paper 2) Abbey Predator Ultra - no wetness, no residue 3) Abbey 144a Maintenance Gas - yay! some white film left on paper, evaporated to leave no lasting effect though So... huh. Maybe standard gas does have a very low amount of lube in it, such that we can't see it. Maybe it needs a lot of the gas under continued pressure to make its presence felt? Edit: I tried squirting the gases at hard plastic... again only the Maintenance gas seemed to act differently, leaving a change in appearance, but no change to the fingertip feel. On the one hand I guess it won't take much change of slipperiness on a hop rubber to affect it. On the other, it seems unlikely that the short puff of gas for each shot is really going to deposit much of anything on there. Edit2: It seems the American version of Ultrair may contain lube, but not the Euro version. That's not super-certain either way, but I think I'd take the previous perceived wisdom that Ultrair does not contain lube and go with that. Apologies. Edit3: Maybe I apologised too fast Here's where I got Ultrair has lube in it from... https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/asg-ultrair-power-gas-520ml

  29. First of all I am ‘not the guy who doesn’t call his hits’. Otherwise I wouldn’t have asked the question in the first place. I was trying to understand whether you can reliable feel whether something is a direct hit or not. It seems the answer is no you can’t. I think it would be better to drop the ‘bounce rule’ altogether as it just opens up a grey zone.

  30. Upper / lower / handguard etc this is where to me it’s shining , it’s really nicely finished , trademarks are crisp , the rifle while light is solid and very robust feeling ( apart from those sights and stock wobble ) barrel to receiver fit is good with no movement , handguard is again rock solid as you’d expect .anodising throughout is clean and in my opinion high quality , a nice satin sheen . I would say in this regard the overall feel of it is on par or better than a TM rifle .all screws , pins , mag release , fire selector , castle nut are steel . Tbc Standard WE 2.0 yields an average 290 fps with .30g BB , overall so far I like it , it’s what I’d call a petite rifle , the super slim handguard really makes it feel different , minimalist and light . so if you are looking for something different to a MK18 or URGI then this could be just the ticket for an out of the box platform it’s pissing hard here at the mo so still no proper range test but semi and auto are very good , running from beginning to end of the mag with no noticeable cool down , firing cycle is pretty sharp and trigger feels good compared to my WE rifles . some fancy pics will report back once I get a proper chance to shoot it 👍🏼

  31. I took a hit at a Gunman game only to be told on my walk back to respawn that the game hadn't started yet. Must have been something falling from a tree that I felt. Of course no one found it amusing...

  32. If in doubt, take it. I once played at a site in the Midlands and we all had a tag (a price of hard plastic with a number written on it, attached to a string) around our necks that symbolised a "life" and the enemy team had to kill you and take it from you before your 2 minute bleed out. Which ever team at the end of the match with the most lives left won. I came out of respawn, started running and got hit instantly, centre mass. I stood bewildered, wondering where the shot come from. 2 mins pass, no enemy comes to take my tag, so I take the 5 steps back to respawn and come out again. I slowly start creeping cautiously forward and can't see or hear anyone. I start jogging....I hear the slap of a round on my plate carrier again. I called hit, look around for who shot me, wait 2 mins, bleed out and go 10 steps back to respawn. I decide I'm running full pelt out of redpawn to try and avoid this mystery sniper. I run out of the respawn, 2 steps, slap. Centre mass AGAIN. At this point I'm getting a bit annoyed at being spawn camped. I respawn and creep slowly forward. Because I'm looking for a hidden sniper, I don't look where I'm going and I stumble slightly. I look down to see my tag fly up on the chain, then slam down....onto my plate carrier....making the same bloody sound as a bb hitting my chest plate! The movement of me running was making the tag jump up and down, slapping on my plate carrier. I'd been calling a hit for no reason. Needless to say, the Marshall watching was quite amused! He did however commend my honesty about hit taking!
    1 point
  33. If in doubt...give a shout👍 So you may have to take a walk to your respawn or dead zone or even take yourself out of play for 5mins. It's not the end of the world. But consider that the sniper who hit you from a distance saw the hit even if it had the impact of a tap on the shoulder. Don't be the one that the marshalls have a quiet word with. 🙂 Regards

  34. The OP didn't mention if he usually does woodland or CQB but here's my thoughts on GBBR's. I have a few: GHK SIG 552, GHK AKMS, TM AKX, VFC M4A1, VFC MP5SD, AGM M4, WE PDW, WE SCAR L, WE M4 CQB, Marayama ACP9K G Pro, TM MP7 x 2, KWA Scorpion, KWA Mac11, TM Siaga 12K and a Beretta SMG from 1987 which is more of a wallhanger. I did have a TM MWS but sold it a while back when I fell out with GBBR's but now think I need another or the DE clone. I've also got a couple of the GBBR 10/22's but I'll discount them from this waffle as they are set up for sniping. I don't use GBBR's at woodland sites during walk on days simply because I'm outgunned or more accurately out ammo'd. I tend to use my TM recoils, KWA T10 or GBLS on those days and get a similar level or recoil to keep me happy. When I use GBBR's it's mostly CQB sites and I don't run anything over .28 tracers as there doesn't seem to be a need. If I need more range the I just get a bit closer. I tend to carry at a minimum 6 mags when using GBBR's as anything less means I'm half fighting and half reloading after running away. I also carry at least one pistol speed loader and a fake grenade that is actually a gas can so I can top up my mags if needed. I've fired quite a few RS rifles over the years and I'd say the recoil on a GBBR is similar to a 22 LR round. Some GBBR's do a better job of increasing the realism, for instance, the TM MP7 has the bolt smashing into the rear, right next to your ear and this increases your perception of the noise from firing but to everyone else it just sounds like a GBBR. Firing hot can be an issue and I've found that using the Vorsk gas either number 6 on hot days or number 8 on colder days gets me through the chrono without issues. By using the different numbers I don't need to worry about fitting Npas's although in the WE GBBR's and 10/22's I've fitted Npas's. Looking at reliability, the TM GBBR's all work perfectly if kept stock and you want to use up to .28's. If you decide to go for heavier ammo then you go into the modding world and it can go either way until you hit the right combination. What works for some people doesn't always work for others. My GHK's both work very well stock and I'd put them as the same reliability as my TM's. Some people have had issues but my only issue has been with the GHK mag base plate falling off and loosing a spring and follower which was $8 to replace but still a pain in the arse. My VFC M4 again works all the time and it's a Gen1 version and I bought a bunch of spares, ready for it to collapse in a heap but I haven't needed to use any of the spares yet. The MP5SD took a bit of work and aftermarket parts to get it firing consistantly but now it's a steam train. I've slated WE GBBR's before and all mine are Gen 1 closed bolt version and work ok'ish in good weather but the Mags are a terrible design. It's a clam shell design with the worlds biggest square o ring that you will need to eventually fill with silicon and wait 24 hours to see if it still leaks. I wouldn't recommend WE as a first GBBR simply because you could come away with negative feeling about GBBR's at the end of it. My KWA scorpion is awesome and the MAC 11 will either work fantastically or vent all the gas depending on how it feel that day. I'm not sure if anyone else has mentioned maintenance but GBBR's require cleaning now and again to stop the working parts getting gummed up from dust, twigs, leaves, bits of chopped BB's etc. It's good practise to wipe the bolt and upper recess where the bolt travels down and re-lubricate along with cleaning the barrel and hop up chamber at least every couple of games. Just like the RS versions, grease attracts dust etc which can effect the function of a GBBR. I was going to mention that the Marayama ACP9 G, the MPX and the up and coming ACP9 are all excellent little SMG's with the Marayama taking 50 round glock mags but you will probably end up buying a MWS

  35. For me, it’s not about playing with the best gun or best kit. Actually, it’s the opposite. I have no intention of taking any of my builds to an airsoft field. I just use a bog standard AEG and some relatively inexpensive Multicam. As @JimFromHorshamsaid, for me, it’s all about the build. Buying the parts to make a build I have in mind, mostly based on real world military firearms. As a firearms enthusiast, this is the closest I’ll get to owning anything like the real steel. If I lived in the U.S. I’m sure my builds would be real firearms, but as I don’t, airsoft replicas is the best I can get. There’s a huge cloning scene in the real firearms world, and that obviously stretches over to the airsoft world as well. No one likes the guy that turns up in £1000’s worth of kit, running around like a full on operator thinking they’re better than everyone else, but in the same vain, no one likes the guy that try’s to put people down for spending money on their hobby. Each to their own. It’s all about having as much fun as possible in the limited time we have available. The fact is, most people who aren’t in to firearms or airsoft think we’re all weird anyway, possibly even dangerous. So, for me, if a guy comes on here or any other forum asking for advice about a build, they should be able to get the advice they want or need, without someone coming on and making it awkward. If you’re not interested in the subject, move on.

  36. for some people the interest in firearms and collecting goes beyond the actual pew pew , they aren’t doing it for anyone else they are doing it because in the whole it’s a difficult challenge to piece together and satisfying once you get to the end . It’s a shame but for some reason there is way more negative “judgement” on people putting a lot of effort into their builds than there is in reverse . Just reading this thread tells you that those people are the first to try and offer advice and help to anyone else wanting to go that route 👍🏼 each to their own of course 🍻

  37. Not trying to pee on anyone's bonfire, so no offence to OP or anyone else, but I don't get the stitch counters, it's airsoft, copying the highest rated military forces of any country doesn't in turn make you special, lol might indicate you are speshul😋, but it's airsoft, use or wear whatever YOU like the look or feel of, 99.9% percent of players on site won't judge or critique you. 👍

  39. I already have an A&K Masada yes, but why not two? Edited out the sellers name. The seller slid into my Discord DMs asking if i'd be interested in taking it off their hands, all accessories and postage included for £150. Having just been paid with some overtime it was impossible to resist an early birthday present to myself. Gun works fine, apparently the selector is grinding which isn't a surprise having taken these apart before - the ambi selector kinda sucks and is a bit of a bastard when reassembling the gun. I'm now theory-crafting a shopping list to turn this into an actual DMR as it's currently at full-auto AEG limits (i've posted my shopping list in the electric guns section if anyone's interested). Might be nice to try out a different style of gameplay as well as the technical challenge of making a consistent DMR having not done this before. Local site limits for DMRs are 420fps so it gives me a nice bit of overhead for throwing heavier BBs.

    Why the sudden hype?

I don't get the hype either. The KWA mp9 has been out for a while and is pretty nice. Mine is snappy on semi and has a solid ROF on full auto. I've swapped out the hop and barrel for the TNT retrofit kit and it's got silly range and can shoot silly weight BBs if I really wanted to, but I keep to .32s in woodland and .28s in CQB and it performs amazingly well. I also think the Vorsk is ugly and I don't trust them as I don't trust any of the Nuprol-adjacent brands. Give me a regular KWA mp9 any day.

  43. Bear in mind that by purchasing from outside of the UK you are the ‘importer’ and are taking responsibility for ensuring that it gets through customs. That includes: 1) any additional charges from HMRC/Border Force and fees from the carrier at point of entry for administering those (though if the retailer has registered with HMRC and charge you UK VAT at the point of sale they should be marking the package and paper work accordingly and you shouldn’t incur further charges/fees) 2) justifying the import of a RIF, ideally with a valid UKARA membership number which the retailer will ideally clearly mark on the package and paper work (Other VCRA defences are available but it’s nobody’s problem but yours if it isn’t accepted on arrival Ask UK retailers if they will import on your behalf even if they don’t list the specific items. That way they deal with the importing via their suppliers and relieve some of the common issues

As for watching the nozzle I can see it entering the hop chamber when i dryfire but I don't really know what to be looking out for. I've read through your post! but these issues persist with Specna's own mags so im unsure if its a mag problem, but also im stupid and maybe it is lol
