  1. Being such a Double Eagle fan-boi for so long, and also very much enjoying my G&G G36C, I just had to pick up this bad boy! I haven't chrono'd this yet, but the power is amazing. I can reach out to a full 14 or even 15m (if I aim at a slight, or perhaps extreme angle upwards). I really must work out how to install a hop unit into this, so I can unlock its full potential. 20m might be within my grasp! The 0.20g BBs disappear into the distance with a beautifully curved ballistic trajectory (that goes in every direction, thereby proving Schroedinger's Uncertainty Principal) before slamming into any object with a resonating 'tic' or 'ping' or even 'flump' The Rate of Fire is a little disappointing, I've only managed 1 shot every 5 or 10 seconds so far, but I'm sure that will improve with practice. Hey at least I'll conserve those expensive BB's! Talking of which, I need to source more magazines, I fear one magazine may not allow me to dominate the battlefield, whatever the RoF. I am definitely considering building a lightweight loadout to support this as it will definitely become my primary for the next skirmish. The impressive low weight (of less than a half a bag of sugar) means I'll be dancing around the site faster than those pesky kids Now... what to accessorize it with? I may have to transfer my 1.25-5x LVPO across from my HK416. A torch and laser combo for CQB is surely a must too. Perhaps a real-steel pistol grip (could be glued on somehow)? Edit: For those envious chaps who want to pick one of these up, here's a link I was soooo lucky that Action Hobbies had this lightly used one on sale for a mere 147,460.53 Vietnamese Dong

    If money was no object!

Vanilla gbbr has never been famous about ultimate performance but people buy it because of realism and require a different kind of approach/game style compared to your average hi-cap/mid cap enjoyers. Not to mention how fun to shoot them. The more I play the more I think money can't buy either skill or cardio. We cannot change thermodynamic laws so in the winter or when cold temps are present gas guns tend to struggle. Simple as that. Everything is (can be) reliable as long you take care of it. 🙃

    If money was no object!

I mean... if money was no object I'd just get a gas gun and throw real-steel parts at it. I'd love to get a real-steel MDT or Magpul stock for my m700, but they go for £1800 and £1200(ish) respectively. I also plan on doing a tacticool CQB MWS build with real-steel parts. However, to answer your actual question, my answer depends on if you know a reliable tech. I would get a basic AEG, a Cyma m14 or AK or mp5 or a Double Eagle m4 type rifle, then get a tech to work on it to put some better quality internals in it. I have a tarted up Cyma m14 and SR-25 as my backup AEGs and they just... work. Very little that puts stress on the parts, since I mostly use them at 1.1J on semi-auto and the full-auto isn't very brrrrrt when I do use it. The other option would be just getting a TM NGRS and leaving it alone; kept stock, an NGRS will last for a long time and perform pretty damn well. The problem with the NGRS is when people decide they need upgrading because they only come out at around 0.8J. They're great and don't really need anything done to them. Take everything I say with a pinch of salt, however, as I way prefer gas guns. My go-to gun is a gas powered bolt action and my usual backup guns are both GBBRs. If I was in your position, I'd just keep the MWS and mp7 😂

  10. JG G36 on a 7.4v LiPo. They will probably function until the heat death of the universe. Problem is - whilst they are great site rental guns, they don't exactly sparkle with performance. And without knowing what your performance expectations are, you may as well ask 'how long's a piece of string?' There is no such thing as 'the best most reliable platform' when 'best' is subjective to the expectations of the user, and 'reliability' is often compromised by said expectations. Happy with a gun that trundles at 10rps out of the box forever, just 'works' despite being wrapped around a tree but is as dull as ditchwater to use? See my first sentence. Want a 30RPS+ speedyboi monster with incredible semi response? Well - that's another kettle of fish altogether, expect things like higher preventative maintenance/servicing, increased wear an tear, and a more expensive bill to fix when it does shit itself. I'm guessing that what you probably want is something in between those two extremes. Expensive =/= better. Just because there is a high ticket price from some manufacturers does guarantee performance and/or reliability. Looking at you VFC. TM NGRS - the ultimate fanboi rifle. 'Perfect' out of the box apparently - so perfect that people drop a grand to upgrade them to be able to keep up with those pesky kids and their £250 lightly upgraded budget blasters in terms of ROF, trigger response and power levels. But it shakes a bit when shooting and has a functioning bolt stop so it's all good.

  12. I am running mine stock at the moment. I only had Geoffs 0.3g and 0.32g bbs when I played last and it seemed to be decent with them. I have since picked up some Geoffs 0.36g and 0.40g and will give these a run out over the weekend. So far I am happy with the performance but will see if the heavier bbs are any better before messing with any upgrades. I was having a look at the TNT drop in hop unit and barrel but it isn't cheap and I don't know if it would be an upgrade that would justify the cost https://www.davescustomairsoft.co.uk/complete-hop-up-chamber-with-6-03mm-275mm-barrel-for-vfc-hk416a5-replicas

  13. Looking at mine (vs either the original, or one I got from Patrolbase too), I think it's the plastic at the top of the mag. There's a bit of taper to the top of the magazine, but if I'm using my digital calipers accurately on both then there's maybe an 0.7-1mm extra width to the top of the new mag If I insert it carefully vertically then it slides in with little resistance, but if it's at any sort of angle it jams up. It won't quite drop free when the release is pressed. Pretty sure it'll wear in quickly though. My old mag also has a little bit of wear in the metal just above the retention slot, but I think that's coincidental. On the plus side, once it's past the initial resistance, and then a second heavier resistance to the mag catch engaging, the mag clicks into place very positively - better than the old one (which sometimes needs an extra tap to seat it correctly, especially when the BBs are really stacked in)

  14. It's weird that the mags I got from Patrol Base slide in with no effort and will fall out under gravity, where as these magss need to forced or pulled. They all work as they should. Rather than doing the sensible thing and sending them back, I decided to take mine apart and probably voiding any warranty in case the mags were truely fucked. I just gave all the rubber bits a liberal coating of silicon oild before re-assembling the mag. Id steer clear of a sealant as it might gum the mag up and make it unusable. I would be very interested in what LandWarrior say if you manage to get hold of them. Keep me updated.

  15. Funny you should say that. I got two mags from the very same company today. Oddly, both mags seem to be a little bit more snug in my mag well and I have to force them in, in order to lock them into place. I have to pull them out when I press the mag release as they don't fall out like my other four mags. Are yours the same? Also, they were both leaking. I stripped the both down, re-lubed (using ptfe oil) all the rubber o-rings and the large gasket and ensured that all the screws were tight. They now seem to be holding gas as they should. Mine were leaking out of the large gasket that separate the main body of the mag and the valve unit. I followed this vid as a guide

  16. That’s going to be extremely unfortunate if it is the case and they’ve been released with this issue. VFC are still trying to recover their reputation with regard to their GBB’s from the poor stuff they released in the past. Like the first gen MP5’s and G36’s. It’s still one of the reasons many of the stores won’t stock them, because their reputation isn’t great, so people are reluctant to buy. Which is a shame, because they’re one of the few manufacturers willing to make more than just another M4. But, that’s possibly why they have issues. By having a wide range of GBB’s they aren’t fine tuning their products. I guess we’ll wait to see the YouTube reviews of the HK53 when they start to come out from people who’ve bought them.

The time has come for me to move on my pride and joy. I’ve decided to switch over to HPA and with the money that entails this must sadly go. This is quite literally the highest spec NGRS you can get and absolutely everything that’s listed below is included in the price (it’s a long list so take a breath) Tokyo Marui mk18 NGRS dusted & weathered in sand krylon, with 4 brand new EPM mags. Internals: Warhead 35k motor GATE Titan advanced M90 spring Prometheus 6.03 inner barrel Prometheus purple bucking Prometheus purple hop rubber Prometheus flat tensioner Prometheus steel bushings Prometheus air seal nozzle Prometheus gear set Prometheus cylinder FPS steel tooth piston FPS piston head FPS tappet plate FPS spring guide Lonex cylinder head Lonex helical bevel & pinon set Eagle 6 recoil spring Eagle 6 recoil connecting bar Deans conversion Externals: Holy warrior Eotech PTS EPS Stock Magpul MOE pistol grip DCA Anti rotation bar DCA Custom Trigger DCA Custom Fire selector Magpul Trigger guard RA Tech Magic pin BCM Gunfighter Magpul Fingerstop Union Jack rail cover WADSN NGAL (metal version) WADSN Unity hot button WADSN Surefire Torch Surefire Warden (Angrygun) SOTAC wire guide system Viper-tactical suppressor wrap Tokyo marui buffer sling system I’ve had this for a couple of years now but it’s only ever seen 2 skirmishes. Everything works absolutely flawlessly and its setup to fire 330fps on a .2 making it slap bang for UK sites. All custom work has been carried out by DCA and they will vouch that this is seriously high end). The warhead motor makes this thing sound like an absolute beast (none of that horrid aeg whine) and the range is simply fantastic, hitting man sized targets 65 - 70m no problem with .32’s. Obviously I’m more than happy to send shooting videos or have you try before you buy ect. Ideally would prefer collection and bank transfer in person but this can all be discussed further down the line with the right buyer. I will provide the original box. I will not sell any of the accessories separately however I can offer discounted price if you don’t want certain attachments. Not currently interested in trades. Any questions at all please don’t hesitate to get in touch, best bet is to drop me a whattsapp/text on 07795357441 many thanks, Ryan

    Am I lacking the Juice?

By the numbers, your RPS is correct. 24,000 / 60 / 13 (approximate ratio, not actual) = optimal cycle speed. That means the speed the motor should turn the gears if the gears weighed nothing and the spring had no resistance. Optimal speed is about 30 RPS. However, the gears do weigh something and the spring does provide resistance. This means we have to factor in a final variable: efficiency. If you're getting 25 RPS, and assuming your motor is exactly 24K (most motors can be off by up to 1K, and some are far worse), that means that you're at 81% efficiency. This could be better in a gun as low powered as this, but it's fairly respectable, and indicates that you probably don't have any huge issues. That being said, here are some caveats: Motors can perform at "high efficiency" on paper but still be heating up overly fast due to bad shimming or whatnot. The motor can be strained but still put out full RPS. Motors can be badly off-spec in terms of speed. For example, it's well documented that the ASG 30K Boost is actually 35K in practice, similar to the 16TPA 35K Tienly GT. This can lead to issues with inexperienced techs who have a faster-than-it-should-be motor on their hands.

  22. Absolutely Just did a test shoot with them through the VFC HK416 GBBR, tightened up the group from ~4.75" (with Warhead 0.28's) to 2.5" + one flyer (which stretched it out to 3") Obviously most of that will be down to the heavier weight of the BBs, but they're deffo top quality! Edit: I did the 0.28 Warheads a little bit of a disservice, it was a 4.6" group and that had one slight flyer too - without that it's a 4" group. Pretty decent! But the 0.40s are appreciably better.

  27. Yup, TPH is on to something with the idea of upgrading something rather than going off-the-shelf - if you're not fussed about (for instance) the NGRS 'recoil' then you could just buy an AEG with nice enough externals, like a Krytac Trident CRB, and then send it off to Luke at Negative Airsoft to fettle for you... he'll basically do all the QA work that the manufacturers don't bother with - you'll end up with a 'sorted' gnu that didn't cost too much. There are some very nice AK's to be had, we've not really explored those - do they appeal at all?
    1 point
  28. G&G Combat Machine M4 is ultra reliable. New inner barrel, hop unit and rubber. Add a mosfet and you've got about as reliable as you can get. CYMA M14 with similar mods is another option. You will get bugger all back if you choose to sell either through.

  29. Lots of very unnecessary accessories dropped in from WGC that are giving me a lot of joy lol. Back in late '06 I bought my first airsoft silencer which was also a copy of the KAC NT4, but it was a Classic Army rendition. Having a CA AR I thought surely it'd fit, but it didn't, my dad took a hammer to it which essentially cold welded it on to the muzzle device when it should have been, you know.. QD. Finally getting a good one and mounting it up all good and proper now that I (mostly) know what I'm doing is a similar feeling to being able to buy the games now that I only had the demos of as a kid and had to play through the same level over and over.

  30. Got it back together, found the missing spring (it was somehow wedged behind the trigger assembly, fuck knows how it got there), firing at a sweet and consistent 343-345fps on 0.2 with the hop fully off, which is perhaps a little too close to the limit for my liking, not much margin for error if the site chrono reads higher than mine. However I really dont want to take it apart again so guess I'll find out next game day. Annoyingly turns out its a 6mm gearbox and not 7mm so the bearings I bought dont fit. All the google results for Cyma M14 gearbox say its 7mm but theyre too big. But I also dont care enough to open it up again just for new bearings, maybe if its running hot on site and needs a spring snip/change.

  32. I imagine that might not be that massively hard if you can deal with the entire body being 3d printed. Certainly the hpa gubbins wouldnt be too hard, imagine there's plenty of room for a 13ci tank in there. Always did wonder why no manufacturer took a crack at the g11, it's not as if its any harder to make or has less demand than the likes of the f2000.

  34. Stop it, you'll give me a hard on, give it a realistic rof on 3 round burst and I'd be selling body parts for one. Also I'm genuinely surprised no company has made one as it's an iconic gun from many computer games and the boxy body wouldn't be very difficult to make OP, define "best" , is it in terms of performance, reliability or simply what gives you the biggest grin? For example in my collection performance would be the MP5K, reliability would be the AKS74U and for fun would be the gas shotgun (unless I've got a big bag of pyros) Remember, what works for one person might not work for you
    1 point
  35. My VFC HK416 won't fire if the magazine doesn't seat properly - if I fill the mag to capacity there's a lot of pressure on the top BB against the underside of the bolt which I suspect is the issue. Beyond that I'm not experienced enough with the GBBs in general to guess what your problem might be
    1 point
  36. Yes, agree with that... we need to know what problems you're having with the MP7 and MWS, it could be a lot easier on your bank balance to just get those running properly / at their peak Is it accuracy? Is it range? Is it reliability? Feeding issues? BBs stuck in the barrel? Is it... something else? If you're using gas with silicone lubricant then you're coating the hop rubber and thereby losing it's grip on BB in the chamber - will likely lose range and possibly accuracy too If the hop rubber is damaged in any way - loss of accuracy and maybe distance What sort of maintenance are you doing (if any) - has the barrel been cleaned out recently? What weight and manufacturer of BBs are you using? I could go on (and probably will ;)) Edit: seen your previous post now... are you mag-dumping, or using full auto a lot, or just sticking to semi-auto? Cool-down is The Enemy of all GBB's, I'm sure you're well aware. TM's are usually considered to be the best, certainly in terms of the MWS and MP7 you have. Edit2: You might find this video useful, as the DAS GBLS was something I'd have mentioned as a God-tier AEG (except I can never remember the letter-salad of its name)

  37. Money spent on gats isnt really the barrier to having a decent times pewing imo. Some of my most enjoyable days have been running gats that are definately not what would conventionally be considered premium. Indeed i'd argue that the more premium the gat, the more good performance from said gat becomes "well of course it should be good". If it brings you joy running gucci gear then by all means go for it, but you can still have fun on the cheap. If money were no object methinks i wouldn't be spending money on gats, but instead on the site, both in terms of renting/buying an interesting venue and putting the money into trained and motivated staff to try and minimise the impact of those who's enjoyment stems from spoiling the enjoyment of others.

  38. Great question but it will give you a range of answers. Typically people (airsofters included) will tell you to get what they have got, ultimately they have made their purchases based on the circumstances and what is most important to them. Be warned I am a TM fanboy. A TM MP7 is almost certainly one of the easiest and best gas guns to run, I wouldn't normally recommend it as a first purchase but as you have it they are considered great. You have just come out of the winter period and winter (cold) will always be the struggle time for any gas system, though the TM MP7 is probably one of the few guns that can handle it, I reckon in the coming months it will really shine. I'd recommend holding onto it for now, it's a fantastic RIF that will keep on trucking. TM NGRS are and can be extremely reliable, without upgrades they'll last ages and do a fine job. They are one of the few AEGs (battery powered) that have features such as the bolt stop (DAS GBLS do as well, as do a couple of others but I don't know them). They don't need upgrading and initially I'd recommend you don't upgrade or if you must, do a minimal amount. Often upgrades make very little real difference, cost a fortune and done by the wrong people can make a RIF worse. Camoraids are one of the few NGRS specialists and if they weren't so expensive someone I'd probably use (too tight, do it myself), I have heard of camo raid upgraded guns going down and the warranty service has been great. Think of it like a car, a standard car such as a ford focus will go for ages without breaking down, a specialist race car squeezing every ounce of performance will require more maintenance and is likely to break more often. An NGRS with a slightly upgraded spring, maybe a tighter bore barrel will beef up the fps a bit and not push the performance too much. FPS doesn't equal range, but I find it can be the difference in people feeling hits.....or not. You will be able to get similar performance, possibly even slightly better in some terms, from a standard AEG of a more modern design (Such as the Specnas or the VFC Avalon range) that come with a mosfet pre fitted for less money. However my feeling is that I have owned my TM NGRS's for around 10 years now and they are still some of the best performers on the field, they have had an upgrade here and a fix there, but they are the same base gun. From what I have seen some other AEGs lose their performance and then struggle to get it back so I think they are a great investment. Something else to think about is what do you like the look of? Performance isn't everything. The sport is to have fun and enjoy the experience and I can do that with an NGRS M4, some people love their weird and random RIFS. Could the saving be spent on other things that will bring you more fun (such as wine and women)? If I had to buy everything again from scratch, a TM NGRS would be one of the first things I bought and a TM MP7 or MWS wouldn't be far behind it. I wouldn't get a standard AEG at all.
    1 point
  39. If money was no object, a lot of people would buy an MWS! Maybe you've had a struggle because of the cold weather, but that's the gold-standard level for gas rifles you've got there with both the MWS and the MP7. So I'd really encourage you to try again as the temperatures rise. (Or sell me your guns) If it's alternatives then HPA might give you a bit more consistency - all the MTW owners I've met will swear by (rather than at) their gnus, so must be something good about 'em. Electric guns... ooft, quality and QA seems to vary so much between different guns even by the same manufacturer, could be a tricky job. NGRS have a good rep (though I believe Luke at Neggy Airsoft refuses to work on them... so maybe not?), but the recoil part of the deal is underwhelming compared to a GBBR. I don't have any real experience of high-end electric RIFs so I've not much to say beyond that. Meanwhile as a counterpoint... I have so enjoyed my Double Eagle M906C precisely because it's been cheap and reliable. My expectations aren't silly because it's relatively inexpensive, but it just keeps on delivering. Also, less expensive gnus means you can buy lots of 'em. More guns = MOAR GUD

Play several games with the gun as-stock, do nothing but clean the barrel. Figure out your playstyle, are you getting up close and personal? plinking from distance? Have a good notion in mind of how the gun is performing, and what about its current performance needs improving. Then its time to start talking about how to go about improving the performance to make it better at doing what you need it to do.

  48. Hi All, So I bought the new Gate Eon Full Gearbox (Got it for a decent price so cant complain about that but I'll still complain.) Sooooooooo, I read a post that listed (from a gate employee) comaptibility with AEG's out there one of which was Krytac, so being a trusting sort of a guy I thought I'd take the plunge and get it ordered. So box arrives, opens it and to be fair it's nice, and went to install into the LVOA. Fire selector will not fit, Krytac have holes cut into the gearbox shell for the gears to fit, the EON does not. The EON selector plate fits flush to the gear box body so even if I modified the gear (Filing the bottom of the gear so it can sit flush with the gearbox recess) the actual gear would not fit under the selector plate. So that's a no-no. Also in the instructions for the gearbox it states that "The spring guide must be screwed to the replica's receiver. Shooting when the spring guide is not properly screwed on or not screwed at all, may cause damage to the gearbox, which is not covered by the warranty." You cant do this with the Krytac, even if I was to get a longer screw to go through the buffer tube, the thread on the spring guide is smaller (Option is to retap and thread? would that void warranty? I'm waiting from a response from gate) . So as you can probably guess, much dissapoint. So, I'll install it in my secondary (Old VFC HK416D) fire selector fits! (YEY!) mag release does not (Boooo!) it's one of those that you have to push in and screw mag release button onto the actual arm (It's doesnt use an actual screw if you get me), the gear box gets in the way so you cant push the mag release arm in far enough. Anyways I'm describing it poorly Next issue...the buffer tube screw, again thread to thick to secure the spring guide but got everything thing assembled and setup and it fires really nice...I've got a stand alone Titan 2 bluetooth (one of the new ones) that I installed in another build and thought I'd done a pretty good job with my shimming etc but the gate factory build is just a lot crisper (using same motor and battery) so yeah, the gearbox is nice but not without fitting issues on 2 guns, which I thought where compatible. I maybe able to change the fireselector on the Krytac but it was'nt money that I'd factored in and feel a pissed off to be fair but meh what can you do. I'll update the thread when I get a reply from Gate. Oh and the Hopup, well built, looks nice, does not work in the VFC not matter what I tried, about 60fps lower than stock , double feeding, just a shit show,. I've tried measuring the distances with calipers to get it as near as I can, used cut down springs instead of the supplied orings for spacing, I've used thicker and thinner o rings for spacing and still cant get the thing to work in the gun (I'm not a top tier tech but I've exhausted the time I'm willing to put in to get it to work) The thinking of GATE hop and Gate gearbox match made in heaven I have disproven, well for my VFC your mileage may vary. So, I justed needed to vent. The gearbox is nice mine came with the Expert firmware installed which is capped to 25bps (you can bypass this but it negates your 2 year warranty which is part of the reason I got the gearbox). It's snappy and consistant (warhead highspeed motor) but not without it's niggles which I can hopefully get some answers from Gate. Cheers if you took the time to read

Is r hop still the best

You get very similar performance for a) less money and b) less hassle. It's more about how much you want to invest in your gun, both in terms of money and in terms of time spent on tweaking it.
