    VFC GBB M249

Now this could be awesome. There’s been talk for ages of a gas M249, but it looks like VFC have actually got one ready to go. Yes, VFC internals leave a lot to be desired, although they are much better now than they were, and it would have been better if TM or GHK were to release one, but beggars can’t be choosers. At least VFC are willing to diversify and not just push out a new style AR-15. The only downside is that it says it’s a lightweight blowback. I’m guessing that refers to the weight of the gun as opposed to the weight of the recoil. I know an M249 is a heavy gun, but for realism I’d prefer the heavier weight.

  2. If you can get 100 / 200 + rounds out of it on a single “fill” I’ll be happy chugging that around for the fun factor however impractical. Chatter my teeef VFC.

  5. EDcase makes a fair point. My last comment is probably coloured by the fact that myself, and most of my friends that airsoft, can't resist taking things apart. Knocking cans off the wall at 10 - 20 meters should be comfortably within the capabilities of a £150 gun from the manufactures already mentioned, and a stray BB will be less risk to others than a stray pellet from an air gun. On the other hand, as others have mentioned, a battery and charger are necessary for an AEG and may be hard to include with a decent gun for your £150 budget. While more powerful, a .177 air rifle would be more accurate for pure target shooting. Providing you have the outdoor space, used responsibly, it should not be substantially more risky than an airsoft gun. You should also find it easier to get everything you need, at reasonable quality, for your budget. The downside of this option would be that it will be single shot rather than semi or fully automatic, and you definatley couldn't shoot it at people.

  6. I’ve had similar on bucking upgrades. I’d check to make sure the hop is aligned but if you have changed only the rubber then I’d say the only think that could be happening is a loss of air as the nozzle and bucking seal. Did the original look the same as the new one in terms of dimensions?

    GHK Glock 17 Gen 5

I was hoping GHK would be releasing more Glocks and it looks like they are. There’s no specific release date yet other than 2023. I like the Gen 3, but there’s just something about the Gen 5 that I prefer. Hopefully we’ll get a Glock 19 from them as well.

  8. Sad news for a paintball site, but an opportunity for airsoft…. The following has been posted on Facebook by the owner of ‘OnTarget games’ regarding their Callington site in the PL7 postcode area Further details are below in italics quoted from Martello, but the jist of the situation is that the paintball market in the area has dropped, it’s not sustainable as paintball only. They have two opportunities proposed as either a partnership or to fully transfer the site over. Part of the video below gives an overview of the Callington site, but the rest of the video and play list are about building one of their other venues A sad day... We have had to make the horrible choice to close our Callington venue to paintball. The pandemic was a struggle, after lockdown we were as busy as ever, but the cost of living seems to have driven the kids birthday groups away. The catchment area can't provide enough paintball bookings to keep it going on its own. We have briefly spoken to the landowners who could be open to expanding the area available to make it better for airsoft if anyone was interested in taking it on. But unfortunately I don't have the time or investment to make this happen on our own at the moment. It has permissions for wargaming activities from the council etc, seems such a shame after all the hard work. But that's life... Our Newquay venue is still going thanks to stag parties 😎. I'm open to offers to take it on as a partnership with someone else as an airsoft venue or they can make an offer for the site as it stands. But we can't continue as it is on our own. Pm me if you are interested. I will start to dismantle in the next few weeks. The first link below may or may not work due to Facebook permissions as it’s to his personal profile, there are the site & magazine links, or I can provide some contact info https://m.facebook.com/100001400763362/ https://m.facebook.com/100057686490648/ https://www.facebook.com/PaintballMag/

    VFC GBB M249

Actually VFC internals these days are excellent, and I speak from buying their G3 and FAL recently and being a completely GHK fan boy. I am quite excited by this.

  10. This would be great for this part of the world. I’m based in Paignton and the only sites around at Skirmish in Exeter and MMA in Saltash. A decent site in the Plymouth area would be a perfect as it’s pretty much half way between those two sites.

  11. A shame, but not surprising - paintball as a sport and industry has been in a sustained and steady decline for well over a decade now. Way too expensive for kids parties, Stag-dos are not exactly repeat customers nor sustainable income in the current climate, not enough interest to continue walk-on days at many sites (thus removing the tournament player pipeline). Most of the UK Tournament Series are long gone (NSPL, Dartford 7's, M25 Series etc). The major forums are pretty much dead (P8ntballer & PBNation). Even NXL World Cup seemed a bit - mediocre - compared to years past (I know the hurricane didn't help. Nice to see SD Dynasty on amazing form with Ollie Lang). I hope OnTarget can successfully partner with someone or offload the site for Airsoft use.

  12. @Rogerborg Thanks, and yes making a loss. However my postage fees are due to rise in the new year when I switch to more of a fully tracked system. I might still keep the cheaper large letter sub £20 sub 100g rates, not made up my mind yet.

  13. It is rather irksome and yet another reason to recommend https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/ who charges low rates. He's probably making a loss on postage + packaging + time.

  14. Yes, an air rifle is best if accuracy is the main objective (and cheaper) but the danger factor goes up by 100x A few rifle examples: (AEG) Gun-1 (Choose a colour option) Gun-2 (Choose a colour option) Battery (Should fit with most guns and last quite well) Charger (Note: This is the first suitable that I could find in stock. I do not know this retailer) Another alternative is a gas pistol (GBB) Realistic action and fun to shoot. Pistol-1 (This is a good one even in plastic) Pistol-2 (A big one) They use THIS gas which will be an ongoing cost.

  15. Sorry but I'd have to disagree with that. A decent AEG (CYMA or JG around £150) should last a few years of garden plinking. High accuracy is a different matter but for plinking at cans or other targets around 10m to 20m should be fine. @kirsty Do you know what type he likes? American M4 or old Soviet AK47 style etc...

  16. 3rd time is the charm then hopefully. I’ve bent and bought another. Patrolbase’s £65 cyber Monday was too good to pass on. Gone tan this time… initial thoughts, looks like a new hammer material from last time. Don’t care as I expect to swap it anyway.

  17. You've missed the most obvious aspect as to the price - it's Laylax, retailers can automatically charge 3 times as much because Japanese am bestest.

TM or GM nozzles all the way. DP ones are brittle and shatter. Some have had good luck with the v2 Angry Gun ones.

  21. Not a problem Kirsty. I don't know how you feel about such things, but if he's a sensible 14 year old and wants to shoot at targets then have you considered getting him an proper airgun and a half-way decent pellet catching target? Obviously, that would completely rule out shooting at 'live targets' (even brothers) but a decent starter airgun would be far more accurate for target shooting than any airsoft. If you are in the middle of nowhere and you've got somewhere on your property with a safe backstop to prevent any stray shots leaving your garden then that might be a far more rewarding option than a cheap airsoft. Target shooting is another of my hobbies. Shooting a perfect bullseye is always a rewarding feeling, and it's great for encouraging focus, responsability, concentration, and hand-eye coordination. https://www.pellpax.co.uk/airguns/air-rifles/spring-powered-air-rifles/proshot-fox-cub-combo-177/54 Something like the above link, plus a pellet catcher, a pack of targets and a tin of 500 pellets should be around your £150 budget One thing I think most people on this forum would back me up on, Airsoft guns are like British sports cars. They look nice, and can be a lot of fun, but they spend as much time in bits on the kitchen table as they do 'on the road', and thats the good ones. Cheap nasty ones aren't fit for purpose and will likely fall apart as soon as you take them out of the garage. A good little starter air rifle thats looked after and properly cleaned will keep doing its thing for years. That said, if shooting at brothers is a must then a pair of CYMA electric pistols and a couple of sets of eye pro is probably your best options for airsoft based garden fun. Personally, I'd recommend the CM.127 as a solid little pistol that should just run for years and is repairable if anything does happen to it. a couple of extra batteries and a bottle of 3000 BB's should keep them going for a while.

  25. I think the 9 rps is more a function of the non specific Nimh pack it came with. I was using that just to check it worked and see what sort of FPS I was dealing with. On the Skirmish day it lasted about a game and a half (50 minutes?) so I reckon its a duffer. I've got a GATE nanoASR to go in it, plus i'll rewire it with 16 guage wire and put some deans connectors on it. with a gearbox re-shim and a Lipo pack I'm pretty sure the RPS will improve without me having to do much else about it. If I'm going to keep it I might go further, but if I end up looking to sell I want to make It a solid base that someone else can build off if they want, but don't need to. Hopefully it'll have a bit of unique style and make someone a great first gun, or a reliable back-up work horse.

  26. Ok so this one is a little bit different as it’s not 2nd hand, this is a retailer but when I saw it i couldn’t not post it on here….. £29 for a coat hanger. i understand the benefits of a tactical coat hanger to store plate carriers but still that’s just beyond excessive.

  27. Might be the feed lip being too short, so when the nozzle goes into battery (fully forward), it doesn't seal anymore against said lip. The opposite issue (lip being too long) is common on Maple Leaf rubbers, which causes feeding issues. (it's why we have 450 thousand different nozzle lengths to choose from btw)

    Polarstars valves

Hi buddy I'm not sure what you mean by valves as the F1 has no valves within it, just a solenoid, body casings and a nozzle. I can only assume by valve you mean regulator? If that's the case, in reality any will do really. The tank itself has a regulator (primary) already attached, which has a set output of normally 800 to 1000PSI, this then feeds to your secondary regulator which steps it down to below 130PSI and is adjustable by means of an adjustment screw. For the F1 Engine, any regulator made by Polarstar, Redline or Balystik will do do so long as you don't over pressure the engine. The F1 will probably happily run between 40 to 130PSI according to Polarstars website. The amount of PSI needed to meet 340FPS on .20g BBs is highly dependant on various factors such as: Length of inner barrel Inner barrel diameter Amount of hop used/needed Type of hop used (Flat hop, R-Hop, S- Hop et al) Size of hop window Hop rubber (60 degree, etc) Quality and weight of BBs used General fitment and finish of the RIF (ie how well the nozzle, hop, inner barrel etc all fit together). The F1 isn't as adjustable as a Polarstar Fusion Engine, which IMO is the best HPA engine out there in terms of features, adjustability and trigger feel. The F1 have a set nozzle diameter but different nozzles for different guns. Unlike the FE which had different coloured nozzles and poppets for different outputs. Unless anyone else here is able to put their numbers down (PSI and what kit used) here's a break down of what I have from tank to pew: Tank: Guerilla Air Myth 68/4500 Regulator: Redline SFR Engine: Polarstar Fusion Engine with S2 Lightning banjo, Red Nozzle and Red Low Flow Poppet Hop up: Prowin M4 CNC hop up chamber (original version before they became crap) Hop type: Kingdom of Airsoft R-Hop Inner Barrel: EdGI 300mm length with diameter of 6.02mm BBs: G&G or ASG Devils .28g BBs With the exception of the tank and regulator, all the above fits into a G&P Salient Arms Intl M4 body. All in all i can run the above set up on 50PSI for 341FPS on .20g BBs. Ill be honest, unless you are using a tiny 13CI tank or running and gunning everywhere, the likelihood of you running out of air is minimal. I have two 68CI tanks, I find that one lasts me more than 1 day at sites where burst and semi auto fire is used. At one of the sites I play at where full auto is a given, one tank will last 3/4 of the day but I normally change mid way through. Below is a pic of my HPA M4

  32. played at RIFT Comms site 3 yesterday, and decided to run my ww1 loadout. pissed with rain on my way to the site, which meant that when the sun came out later in the day the woodland was rather humid, and the wool uniform was rather warm. Chronoed the lee enfield, and found that despite having a weighted piston fitted, it was chronoing at 1J on .32s, so no MED. i had a great time, and despite the low power level of the lee enfield, i was getting some satisfying kills. at one point during the third game myself and a couple of team mates got into the lower level of an old pumphouse building, and i sniped at least 10 players out the window of the building as they peeked out from behind trees or barricades. it wasn't all good though, as toward the end the second game, where we had to attack the pump house (among other locations) to capture balls from a bucket to take to our HQ, i decided to charge the pump house in order to post grenades onto the roof and into the downstairs room to clear out the four defenders and allow the rest of my team to push up. i slung the lee-enfield and drew my webley and a grenade before charging forwards over approx. 15-20m. unfortunately as i got to the building, i trod on a rock hidden under the leaves and took a heavy fall, despite my best efforts to regain my balance, and then my attempt to throw a grenade onto the roof failed when the grenade hit the sandbag barrier and bounced off behind a barricade beside where i lay. when i stood up (with assistance from a marshal who helped untangle the enfield from my webbing) i noticed the webley had sprung open and the cylinder had become detached from the frame. the barrel was clogged with mud and the shells had been scattered in the mud and leaves. i managed to find only one shell, then headed back to safe zone to dust off and examine my gear to check if i could use it for the rest of the day. i was able to borrow an unjamming rod so that over lunch i could strip the lee-enfield and pull through the barrel, finding that there was no debris in the barrel, and there was only mud in the front sight that was easilly cleaned off. i got some compliments from a member of the enemy team that was inside the building for my push and he offered to lend me some dan wesson shells, if they fitted, to get my webley functioning again. unfortunately they didnt fit, but the offer was much appreciated. i have spent today stripping and cleaning both guns and fortunately there is minimal damage to the webley, but now i need to try and find some replacement shells.
