  2. Made a mini-review here - things didn't start well: I love nearly all the ergonomics (not a huge fan of the stock) - it's lovely to hold and the external build quality is amongst the best I have ever seen. But I do have some quibbles over the stock motor, the PDW stock and the mock bolt release. BUT - it's a keeper. I test fitted a Buffer tube/PTS EPS stock last night and that's the way to go for me - just need to extend the wiring. I also have to remember that G&G Raiders are now very close in price (£210-220) to these guns since the price hike. Frankly this shits all over G&G plastic bodied range of guns and makes them feel very cheap to hold. The PTS iron sights alone that ship with the EVE-4 cost £40-50 to buy separately, PTS Rail sections £8 a pop (of which you get 2), the vertical grip is damned near perfect for my tastes and would benefit from having 'PTS' stamped on it rather than 'KWA'. Overall it's very good value for money for what you get in the box.

  3. As per the other thread ….. …. valid defences for buying a black gun / RIF include airsoft skirmishing and reenactment (among some others) The MVT covers membership as a reenactor in the Military Vehicle Trust, airsoft skirmishing is normally ‘proven’ by playing three times at an airsoft site and gaining site membership with UKARA registration Ask the shop why they are asking you to conspire to commit fraud to justify their quicker sale rather than you taking the required time to play - they are probably worried that you will learn more about airsoft and buy something else from someone else

    First rifle advice.

When I signed up for an airsoft forum I didn't expect to be reading papers on researchgate! That's fantastic info, thanks @Rogerborg. Well, there doesn't seem any point buying the bio ammo. I'll maybe just tell the wife that it's all biodegradable and not to worry about the stray ones. 🤫 I'll have to give a bit of thought to making some kind of ball trap, and maybe give these sticky targets a go. I've got safety glasses I use with my grinder so I'll just use them in the garden. I'd love to have a go at skirmishing but I don't think I'd ever get a chance. Maybe if I can get my daughter involved in shooting she would ask to go and we'd get a pass from the boss! I've got two cats. I hope they don't take to munching them!

  6. I don't have any serious complaints about my SA-E02. Decent hop, reasonable metal receiver and no problems with the Orion gearbox so far, even running an M140 spring as a DMR. So-so motor, and the mosfet is just for trigger protection and current flow, it doesn't do anything in particular, and baulks at higher powered motors. The QC spring is useful and just requires taking a screw out of the stock - you'll need a long JIS/Phillips driver and a light. The grip is the daftest part, having a "quick change" base plate that creates problems rather than solving them, but you can live with it (or replace it). Worth a punt, although if you can stretch to an EDGE 2.0 you get a Gate Aster with a lot more bells and whistles.

  7. I got a specna dd mk18 a few months ago. It feels and looks nice, isnt too heavy and feels good in general. It does the job for me; I'm yet to skirmish it but I have put a good thousand or 2 rounds through it in the garden and it shoots ok, not as good as say my tm scar but it hits a small square target (around 20cm by 20cm) at 20-30 feet every time with an average grouping. No mods, just a zero'd optic and the hop set.

  8. Can only speak for myself but I've had no probs with my sa e_05 at all. It's a good solid gun with no battle rattles. Purchased it from classifieds 18 months ago and it is used fairly regularly and replaces my amoeba 013 as my go to gnu. It's a good solid gat that performs well. Runs fine on an 11.1 lipo. I would buy specna again👍 Regards

Hi 👋 Yeah paypal goods and services is best for buyer protection. Have you looked at sellers reputation? Have they got good feedback? Does the pictured item contain the sellers forum name and date? Is the pictured item the actual item or a stock photo from a mag or online seller(you can generally tell)and this is the reason that the sellers forum name and date are included In pic. Trust your judgment and ask seller questions and judge by their answers. You can tell a lot by how they respond. Nothing is garenteed but with goods and services you have some protection. Good luck( they are a pretty honest bunch on here)👍 Regards

They remove the French vat in the checkout process so you can see that bit removed from what you pay before you put card details in. I did get a bit excited seeing the 20% off bit and my impulse buy response was triggered. I've yet to buy anything still though. Didn't see a field for a ukara either but maybe that's further down the checkout process.

  12. whilst it is over-volumed, short stroking will still result in a drop in energy. any piston travel before the compression stage will still be contributing to energy as the piston accelerates gaining kinetic energy which gets dumped once compression starts (essentially changing the pressure curve to one with a sharper ramp up) as others have mentioned, having the release tooth being plastic rather than metal might cause wear/failure, but it's not the worst to change out aside from cleaning up the box if it goes. keeping the remaining teeth on the piston is fine, tbh aside from the slight weight saving there isn't strictly any cause to remove them, although it feels neater having matching teeth.
    1 point
  13. That is not possible unless you short stroke the piston but not the gears. On all my guns I removed two teeth from the sector (pick up side) and left the racks intact, no PME, no smashed front piston teeth, nothing.

  14. An IPSC pistol on the channel, based on the GE hi-capa we've had on before but hybridized with a 1911 slide. Chrony and firing footage abound.
    1 point
  15. Could end up with the front tooth of the piston running into the remaining teeth on the sector gear.
    1 point
  16. What's the worst that's gonna happen? A slight drop in FPS perhaps and a trashed piston? There will be a lot or stress on the last plastic tooth though when the final sector tooth releases it. For the cost of a full-metal racked piston I would replace at the point of short-stroking the sector gear.

  17. Technically I think the plan is sound, should be less noise from the over-volume with a small increase in rof and trigger response. Looking forward to seeing the results.

  18. Here’s what it looks like this at the moment: I don’t intend to use any FDE coloured parts for this gun, so I’ll pick up a new black PTS EPS shortly. Wiring is currently too short for use in a buffer tube.
    1 point
  19. Yep the cycle completes and leaves the piston in exactly the same position. I think it might be the delayer chip contributing to this as I think it stops the gear in what it believes to be the perfect position but the delayer chip is still preventing the tappet plate from moving forward it probably just needs to to stop a moment later to allow the nozzle to go forward

That sums it up rather neatly. I think the only compelling reason to order from Europe now is if the vendor stocks something that's genuinely unavailable/impossible to source from UK retailers - a situation that is slowly improving recently. There's very little/no financial incentive to do so otherwise.

Yup. "United Kingdom*** - Your order should be above 135£ (160€) for customs clearance" "Customs clearance" is a very deceptive way of saying "...for us". Over £135 means they're intending to not charge UK VAT and duty on it at source, which means you'll get rinsed for it during import. Maybe. Or you might get lucky. Or it might get seized, and end up in the DPD or Border Farce basement shooting galleries. What should happen is that the listed price will be reduced by ~17%[*] at checkout (to remove the French VAT), but when it arrives in Blighty, you'll get mugged for ~22.5% (UK VAT + duty) on that price + ~£20 (DPD double-mugging you for paying that on your behalf), and a possible firearms declaration and a delay of anywhere between 0 and infinite days. Whether any of that will happen, or to what extent, is down to the whims of people outside your control. Do you feel lucky, punk? [*] Not 20%, mathletes. A €120 list price is composed of €100 untaxed cost + €20 French VAT. 1/6th rather than 1/5th needs removed to get back to the untaxed price.

If you are 18 or over, you are legally fine to purchase, or attempt to purchase, a realistic imitation firearm from anyone in the UK. You are not committing any offence by doing so, and you don't need any sort of defence or licence to buy or own it. It's the seller that's committing an offence by selling it. They need a defence to do it, one of which is selling for the purposes of historical re-enactment. They clearly don't believe that's your real intention, they're just asking for a MVT number that they can record against the sale in the very, very unlikely event that it ever becomes an issue for them. Some sellers even accept "defences" that are (legally speaking) nothing of the sort, e.g. cosplay. That's a concern for them, not for you. They want to sell, you want to buy. My concern would be what you intend to do with it, and whether you're likely to attract the wrong sort of attention. The double-post isn't a good start. Please be aware that public possession of any imitation firearm, realistic or otherwise, is an offence, and that you need to be able to produce a reasonable excuse on demand. That would mean being on the way to or from an airsoft event at an insured site, not showing it off to your mates down the local woods. tl;dr version - if you're at least 18, you're fine to buy and own get an assault-style toy inside the UK. Just be very careful what you do with it.

  24. that looks to me like a warranty thing. all precocking is is running the motor slightly longer than the usual cutoff point, you could acheive the same effect on a purely mechanical trigger by shifting the cam position. mine certainly didn't explode or do anything out of the ordinary with precocking set to as high as it'd go without double firing.....

  25. Tear out all the internals and fit an HPA engine. You seem intent on building a top-tier wanker gun with that setup, so why bother with all the hassle of AEGs in the quest for performance when you can just drop in an HPA engine, make a few tweaks and call it done? I mean, all the cool kids roll with air hoses these days, right?

The distinction between ‘black’ and ‘two tone’ applies to the VCRA as ‘RIF’ and ‘IF’ The seller is responsible under the VCRA if they sell a RIF without establishing a valid use (‘defence’) As you have told the seller that you intend to play airsoft it’s very fishy that they have suggested the MVT Unless you told them that you are a reenactor then they look to be attempting to involve you in a fraudulent conspiracy. Why would you join the MVT as a re-enactor / military vehicle owner if your intent is to play airsoft?

2 uppers, one more civilian inspired build that still needs a PEQ, the other more GWOT style that still needs a surefire and a sling. Final versions, especially the GWOT style will look major goofy set up wise but they work for the type role each one has. I’ll repost when finished as they’re “nearly” finished…already planning another upper 🥲 Deck’seption…

  28. Ok, fuse swapped. Out of the box it ships with a 20A fuse, I put a 25A in for now. So - performance: Chrono: 325-328fps, pretty consistent with 2-3fps variance. ROF (Fully charged 7.4v 1200mAh 25c): A pretty disappointing 14.1 RPS and it didn't sound happy doing it. ROF (Fully charged 11.1v 1300mAh 30c): A very surprising 23.4 RPS. So, the motor is obviously wound for flat out speed (and volts) and not torque. 23 RPS is a bit spicy for my tastes, I would have preferred something more balanced, giving better performance on a 7.4v LiPo. So a motor swap it is i think.

  39. Oh fuck, what have I done!?! I've just ordered a KWA EVE-4 ICE. Loved the look of it since it was announced last year, so when BZtactical sent me a nice newsletter email** this morning saying that they have them in stock for £245 - I couldn't resist. My missus is gonna kill me. Expect a load of classified ads shortly to pay for the damned thing...anybody want a pair of genuine Peltor Comtac XPs? **the email also had the new pricing for G&G Raiders - £210-£220!! Not BZ's fault - G&G announced a price hike recently, but they are pricing themselves out of the market methinks. @Mr. No_Face Does this make me one of the cool kids now?......probably not.... 🤪

  43. TLDR? Great on the outside, a bit crap on the inside. Here's a quick 2 hours of ownership first impression...... Right - to start. Packaging was fine - typical KWA fare from what I've seen of other guns in their Ronin lineup. A bag of accessories was also included which includes QD sling mounts, M-Lok rail sections, T-Handle Allen keys, and a KWA branded Speedloader. Nice touch. Being the ICE limited edition version, it also comes with a Ice-blue 120rd mid cap in the box. The gun is fitted with a really quite excellent M-Lok vertical grip along PTS Backup sights out of the box. Externally, it's the best plastic I've seen on pretty much any airsoft gun. Think PTS EPS stock plastic quality, but the whole gun is made of it. It really is very nice to pickup up and hold. That is, from the pistol grip forwards. Where it falls down is the stock. Again, it's very high quality, but much like any other PDW-style stock it is limited in terms of storage capacity (which can be mitigated to a degree with an extension) and adjustability. It only has three positions, fully closed (thus useless), fully open (which is a bit wobbly), and somewhere in between which is still a touch too short for many. If I keep this gun (more on that later), It'll get a buffer tube and a PTS EPS Stock - much like KWA's still unreleased EVE-9. The gun is well balanced otherwise, and the pistol grip (basically a PTS EPG) is an excellent fit for my hands. The gun is largely ambidextrous, with fire controls, bolt and mag release on both sides. Problem is, the bolt release stopped working after the third time engaging it (and I was being gentle), so the bolt will not lock back. Disappointing to fail almost instantly. The charging handle, being up front does get in the way when holding the gun if you like to wrap your hand around the rail, but it can be easily switched to the other side to move it out of the way - so no biggie. But what's it like to shoot? I don't know really. I tested it briefly on a 7.4v LiPo, but the motor lacks torque and I could lock the box up quite easily. Performance was a laboured 14-15rps, trigger response not great at all. The gun sounded laboured generally and the gearbox loud (which I've heard is a trait of the v2.5 GB thus 'normal'). Ok, well, KWA themselves say it's good on 11.1v LiPos, so I switched to a 20c 1300maH 11.1v. It blew the fuse within 30 shots. *Sigh*. The trigger response was nice enough and I'm guessing a ROF of around 19-20RPS in the 10 seconds it functioned for. Soooo.......I'm on the fence with this one. I could fix the niggles easily, swap out the motor and stock, probably sort the bolt release too - and the rest of the gun feels amazing in the hands otherwise. But I can also send it back to the vendor before any more gremlins pop up. Hmmm.....watch this space.

Evike now have a warehouse in europe (France apparently) and are shipping to the UK. https://evike-europe.com/ username: Evike Password: Europe for early bird access use WELCOME20 for 20% off your first order. They say that orders for the UK are VAT exempt: https://evike-europe.com/delivery-methods - does that mean they pay the VAT? UK delivery in 2-3 days by DPD (it's not UPS!! ) Free shipping on orders over 150 euros Customs fees apply (whatever that means) Might be worth a punt. At a glance it looks like they are gunfire.com-ish prices with some bettter some worse. LCT stuff with euro to GBP exchange rate and 20% off and free shipping comes out quite reasonable. Some RIFs like the scorpion evo and cyma sr25 are "prohibited from sale" in the UK and a few other countries for reasons unknown.
