I wouldn't personally try that with an airsoft kit unless it's a CNC one. The cast monkey metal ones will just crack. Something else to bear in mind is that real pistols like Glocks and 1911s are built fairly loose themselves. Might be worth asking yourself why you think making the slide fit on tighter would in any way improve the pistol before you go ahead and do it.4 points

I don't think I've ever seen one being used, although I've seen one being sworn at in the safe zone, which I understand is their default condition. Thus the "servicing" obsession. The seller's posting history here suggest that he's not a throbber, and it doesn't look like a deceptive advert. Of course, you'd have to be loopy to pay that for one RIF that might shred its internals at chrono. Far better to do what most of us here do: spend that much on ten RIFs, hang eight of them on the wall, bring two, and have them both crap out on the day. Alternatively, send Luke at Negative £3K in cash and a bottle of wine, and await the results.4 points -

Inspired by a certain ad in the dreamers thread. Your recently deceased Great uncle has left you £3000 to spend on a RIF. The rules are: You have to spend all the money. You have to spend it on parts that directly attach to the RIF or are integral to its functioning. (Attachments, magazines, upgrades) RIF has to be theoretically skirmishable. (So if you blow £1.5k on gas mags, you have to demonstrate how you're going to run around all day with 30 heavy lumps of metal attached to you lol). RS items are allowed if they can legit be attached to your platform. Be creative.3 points -

It's not worth £3K (nothing is when it comes to shooting tiny balls at each other for BBwarz/LARPsoft) BUT the Infinity internals kit alone is around £1300 to buy. If this had one of the gucci PTW body kits (i.e. HAO) on there, it could possibly justify £3K to those who are into these boutique shooters. But in this case it's a standard Max 2 body (notice he doesn't show the left-side of the gun in the pics) which makes it look like any other generic M4. But then you have this: So you don't even get the Real Steel stock for your £3k. If this was up for £2k, I'd say it was still pushing it. PTW's have fallen by the wayside for some time now (thanks largely to TM NGRS, HPA and even FCU-equipped AEG builds), and I've not seen one at a playing field in a good few years now.3 points -

What he said. They just feel different. If you tried one for the day, everything else seems like junk. Then, when they go wrong, you want to burn them and hate them with every part of your being. I sold my recoils, they just feel cheap and both of them broke ( they were "modified") . The ptw is 14 years old and pretty sure it's never been serviced...it will break now I said this.2 points

Ah 🤦♂️ that makes perfect sense. (Very shitty educational diagram by the way, helped it make sense a lot)2 points -
Now... not as big a margin but it still feels different and better. The dimensions of the grip are skinner too, which feels nice. The sound is again different and so good. Just owning one makes your penis 4" longer. All in all, still the best there is.2 points
-
Perhaps it just sounds good and shows this weapon has received a level of love not usually bestowed upon a toy. Thus greatly increasing its worth. How many for sale adds say "recently serviced" . Which lets be honest is 90% bullshit and completely impossible to prove it wasn't.2 points

Ear pro for CQB
John_W and one other reacted to Speedbird_666 for a topic
In all honesty, I have never experienced this playing CQB - ever. Most sites (at least the ones I've played at) sweep on a semi-regular basis, and there's just not enough rounds fired to create 'pools' of BBs to slip on during a game day.2 points -
Myself and @quango2k are one of the few owners of Systemas that realise that airsoft is a game. Tbh that is a REALLY bad photo of me too that a blur would be a massive improvement.2 points

Bit of a different kind of dreamer today. Just had someone ask if I still have a pistol I put up nearly 5 years ago for way less than it was worth. I admire the optimism.2 points -
Consider a helmet (head shots at close range SUCK), maybe a plate carrier instead of a chest rig and definitely a decent facemask. Footwear wise I'd say swap out para boots for a decent set of SWAT/Police type boots (Magnums, Merrell Tactical, that sort of thing); you still want grip so a softer sole makes sense but you don't want to be sliding about on BBs so a decent tread pattern helps, plus ankle support. The walk to respawn will be shorter so you won't need to take the kitchen sink everywhere with you but you may find you end up spamming through WAY more ammo so if anything you might need more mags not less (depending on your gun and how good a shot you are). The length of gun thing is a constant source of argument. I fall in the camp that you just need to learn to maneuvre your weapon, others are all for tiny little barrels (but they often wear lycra and carry big bottles of air about). It kind of depends on the site and how tight it is to move about - I saw an M14 SOCOM used at The Mall way back when (I used an M249 there myself) but it was open enough to not be an issue. I was using MP5s at the weekend and while my MP5K is super easy to move around barriers with, it's not exactly the most accurate thing in the world if the site has anything over a few metres away to shoot at (having a 110mm inner barrel). That said, the lighter the gun, the less quickly you'll tire out because you'll probably be running about more. The main thing is that play should be more dynamic and will certainly require move positive action on the part of the players. One of my pet hates at The Mall was people stacking up on doorways with nobody wanting to be the first man in. Many was the time one or two of us would follow a bang into a room only to find ourselves totally outnumbered because all the rentals were still stood outside. You WILL experience worse hit taking, shorter tempers and overkilling. But you might also have the best day of airsoft ever. CQB has always been very hit or miss for me, the good days are epic, the bad ones are horrible. Oh, and make sure you take PLENTY of water and a towel. You WILL sweat more.2 points

Ear pro for CQB
Floperator and one other reacted to RostokMcSpoons for a topic
If there's any sort of ambient noise I have to ask people to stand on my right if they don't want to repeat everything twice. It does suck Still, my self-inflicted damage from a number of years of accidental abuse I can sort-of live with. Poor old Andy Partridge of XTC got all his shit in one go: "What is your greatest regret? Being in the studio on the afternoon I got tinnitus. This complete fucking dolt of an engineer pressed the wrong button while I was checking a supposedly silent loop with the desk at full volume, and generated a click track that went off like gunshots in my head. It left me with extreme tinnitus that I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. I contemplated suicide, just to stop it. This was ten years ago now."2 points -

John_W and one other reacted to Floperator for a topic
If you're an indoor site and allow pyro then you'd have to be mad not to mandate ear pro. It's a massive lawsuit waiting to happen IMO. I have hearing loss (no tinnitus thank god) due to a combination of congenital issues, shotguns and drum + bass, and it's no fucking joke. Like to chat with some friends while you have a little light music playing? Not anymore you don't. Enjoy asking everyone to repeat themselves for the rest of your life.2 points -

Ear pro for CQB
Floperator and one other reacted to Speedbird_666 for a topic
It's funny innit? Eye protection gets quite a response on forums, but ear pro doesn't get anywhere nearly as much attention. I wouldn't run without ear pro in CQB, even a .209 BFG in close proximity can cause me problems. It amazes me that other players just kinda laugh about it when their ears are ringing. This is just a game, shooting tiny bits of plastic at each other - for fun. We should be doing it as safely as possible, even if that means shoving cheap ear plugs in. (woohoo- 1000th Post)2 points -
Almost two months later, an update! Life's been a twat and didn't have much disposable income until last week, but I kept looking at the various options. In the end I went with the Claw Gear Mk II Combat Operator Pants because of the stretchy material on the butt, zipper ankle closure and lack of extra, unnecessary pockets. At €140 they're not even that expensive, right within my initial budget (teammates kept recommending SOD gear, but it's right on par with Crye regarding price and, as previously stated, if I had to spend that much I would have gone with Crye.). I did take a gamble on sizing, ordered a 38/32 which is, theoretically, a perfect fit for me. If it ends up being a little tight, I'll take it as an incentive to lose some weight A size 40 would be definitely too large, even for me.2 points

Real Sword type 56-2 package

I’m re uploading my Real Sword type 56-2 after I had decided to keep it. But with new projects on the horizon, it’s time to go to a new home. This is an excellent example of a clean and completely rust free type 56-2. I have made some tasteful modifications to this, including: -new 22k a neo magnet motor -pdi w-hold bucking -deans connector -general service, shim, aoe correction etc. Shoots extremely well with 0.32g bb’s. -My only note here is that feeding on the 11.1 can be temperamental with heavier ammo thanks to the hi caps. Some mid caps or new hicap coil springs would fix this. Or the use of a 7.4v. Price reduced to reflect this.* Now comes with: -x2 RS high cap mags -x1 genuine AK magazine that I intended to convert to aeg mag -x2 11.1 lipo sticks that fit perfectly under the dust cover with free movement of the bolt. -original box with all accessories and paperwork (if that matters to you) collection North Nottingham available or can ship at buyers expense. any questions send me a message.£430

I personally would not recommend bunker 51 for a new player or even an experienced one. it’s small, very small and I have not had the best of times there. if you drive there are plenty of sites near London where you will have a much better day, check out the SE TOUR reviews in the site review section and you will see a lot of the work has been done for you. also I would pick up a rifle or rent if I were you, even at a cqb site. Playing with a pistol only is fine and great fun, but I think you would need a bit of experience before you try that1 point

The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread
SussexMatt reacted to Impulse for a topic
A bit far from me. I'm all the way down on the south coast in Brighton, so the ones within "can go on the regular" distance are Worthing, the Boneyard, Driver Wood and Dogtag (though the latter two I wouldn't go anywhere near...) Worthing is old school, and since I started 17 years ago I like old school (we recently acquired a portaloo!). As I said, got my criticisms of the site like I hate their DMR rules and think we should play the whole site more often as there's a large area of the site that is neglected but is really fun to play in, but the general feel and the community are top notch and the staff are great. It's a totally different site for 6 months of the year too; Just be prepared to experience woodland CQB if you go in the late-spring through autumn as the foliage gets pretty thick1 point -
Peening and Squeezing? (Slide to Frame Fit)
Rogerborg reacted to Floperator for a topic
All kinds of NO, for all the reasons above. Also when you peen something the whole side isn't going to expand, you're going to move the edges out first. Hopefully this shitty diagram will explain: First you're gong to flatten it in the direction the hammer is hitting, actually *introducing extra play* to this dimension. Then you're going to spread the material out. If you're hitting it near the edge of the piece (which you probably will be because its so small) it's going to create these ridges, rather than push the whole edge out. Those ridges will present a much smaller surface area to act as a bearing so will wear rapidly. If the part is ali or mazak the act of hammering will probably work-harden it and make it (more) brittle. So after your experiment, you will have introduced more play in another dimension, reduced the gas efficiency of your pistol, and made the part you have modified more brittle and prone to failure. And after a few hundred shots those ridges will have worn away and you'll be back where you started anyway.1 point -

100% better than nothing I saw a post about a newbie saying how he really enjoyed this first CQB game and how his ears were still ringing. This post was on a Tuesday. It's going nanny state a bit but i think sites running pyro in confined areas, should be more responsible with ear protection. We go full autism over eye pro and both are kind of useful.1 point -

Well, we did it. Spent the day running around like nutters and shooting people 😂 I'm knackered but what a laugh. Honey badger needs a bit more oomph and I'd get more kills throwing my pistol at people rather than actually shooting it at them.🤣🤣 Game, as they say ON. 😎👍1 point
