  3. Take at least the slide off, use high pressure water then plenty of silicone spray to remove the water then high pressure air to clean the silicone out, and then regrease it. Ideally. When I dropped my 1911 in sand I just used a lot of silicone then air duster then regreasing.

  6. That is exactly what they do, I know people who've had pistols seized and destroyed along with their mags even when said mag was utterly emptied out. If it can contain gas at pressure, you're taking a risk sending it. Might not be the situation in this case ofc, but it's a definite possibility.

  7. The possibility that immediately springs to mind is that the postal service has seized the package, as has happened quite a lot with GBB pistol sales in recent times. Gas containers are on the prohibited items list for sending through the post and they've been cracking down on gas mags for airsoft. Did you send it via the post office? If so, there's very much a chance they've taken both the gun and the mag as for some reason they have this horrendously shitty policy of taking (and eventually destroying) everything in a package that includes a gas mag, even though there's nothing wrong with sending the RIF itself.

  14. Or strip it down to its components and clean each one individually and resilicon and put it back together again. Everyone with a gas pistol needs to get down to the inner barrel, hop unit outer barrel and slide off stage for cleaning after each game anyway.

  15. If the gun was sent by standard 1st class post that may be why it was seized. RM rules for rifs states 1st class signed for as a minimum requirement.

  16. I downloaded Arma 3 the other day... it was 35% for the extended edition on Steam so I couldn't help myself. @Lozart, the PC runs it fine. Haven't fiddled with any of the settings yet but the GPU seems to be handling it well and it's pushing a 4K monitor. Still in training, getting use to the controls but liking it so far. Again, it seems like a really good platform for milsimers to practice/train. @BrightCandle, think you are on to something with using it to prep for milsims.

  17. Only last week I had a listing taken down "V2 Trigger Switch" or something like that - I was told the trigger word was "Trigger". I was also not able to add any new listings for 3 days. Pretty annoyed since I pay £20 a month for unlimited listings. Spent the next 2 hours on the phone to various nobody's in customer service centre's. I explained that these were products were not firearm related, could not be converter etc but it all fell on deaf ears. The actual Ebay policy isn't finely grained and doesn't distinguish between real firearms and those product and related products that use similar words. I'm really in two minds whether to stay with Ebay, going to give it another month or so. Just wish there was a viable alternative. I tried Amazon but was wasn't impressed with their pricing structure.

  18. There's a guy on Arnies who manufacturers and retails certain items who reported on this, had a lot of his listings taken down for all sorts of utterly harmless RIF parts. Retarded policy. Carried over from US ebay I believe, whether it was their own decision or bowing to government pressure to limit the firearm industry in back-alley ways without actually getting proper legislation passed... no idea. Don't want to start a gun debate either. I personally didn't go to eBay for airsoft specific stuff anyway (not since eHobby was still an ebay store back in about '06) but it's certainly a shame given the insane shipping prices a lot of the UK airsoft retailers charge; eBay's always been hand when you just need that one little thing. Now that avenue's been diminished for no reason and nobody's any safer or benefited in any way.

  19. Right... There is (or certainly was) an issued single point 'sling'. It's more of a connection point than a sling because it's just a small strap that connects from the rear sling point of the rifle straight to PALS webbing (for usage with Osprey). However in terms of connection to the weapon it is for all intents and purposes, a single point. I'm not sure if it's still issued and I've not seen it used much, but there's plenty of pictures from afghan of people using them in recent years. The problem with that rear sling point on the rifle taking the entire weight is that it's now hanging from your vest i.e. your shoulders instead of your arms doing any of the work. Which can be an good amount of weight if you've got a rail, grip-pod, 4x optic and loaded mag on there (for starters). So it's best to use either the old issued 3-point, or if you want something that's actually good, get a quick adjustable 2-point. The other huge plus for a 2-point being the with a single the rifle will hang far too low and always dead vertical so if (for example) you switch to your pistol and want to kneel/squat or do anything else, you'll probably get a muzzle full of mud. Something like a Blue Force Gear VCAS (or any sling that works the same way) provides the exact same functionality as the issued 3-point, is far quicker and easier to adjust from a patrolling/standing to a fighting position, doesn't require learning some stupid basket weaving to attach it, is available in padded versions in all sorts of colours and patterns and most importantly doesn't have a retarded 3rd strap that sits against the TMH and does a superb job of hindering access to both the mag catch and bolt release button.

  20. Welcome to the UK - that about sums us up. As its not illegal to own RIFs, I cant see the value of UKARA for you. However, you will need to satisfy HM customs at your port of entry. I would carry evidence of your Dutch airsofting experience such as photos, site memberships and your ID card and declare yourself at the customs, explaining the situation. If you are open and honest, you should be okay. You will eventually need UKARA if you want somebody to sell you more RIFs when you live here. I think Holland also has lower fps limits ?

  22. I'm not saying I don't like the idea, but people often can't see my sincerity online. It wouldn't work very well. Whilst trying not to play my own horn, I'm not short of experience: I've worked on M4s, AKs, G36s UMPs, FALs, SLRs, SCARS, M14s, UZIs, AEPs, M249s, P90s, EVERYTHING Plus loads of GBBRs PLUS pistols, PLUS mags, bodywork, custom machining parts, fitting parts that SHOULD work but don't. I can solder well, can make MOSFET units and I still find it tricky to explain exactly what is wrong over the phone sometimes. Not to mention, airsofters don't like to listen and always know better - I correct peoples pistol shooting technique when demo-ing pistols on the range, some like the pointers, some argue thats 'how they've always done it'. I point out only one of us is a nationally ranked pistol shooter and they STILL do their own thing. You'd be better off learning cookery and doing that over skype, at least your market is bigger

  24. Starting this off by saying you are currently learning yourself is a worry. There are SOOOO many problems that can cause knock on effects for various other issues in a gearbox and you need to know ALL of them. Some of which take myself and a combination of other techies (with thousands of hours and hundreds of gearboxes between us) many hours to solve, trying different parts, theories etc. On top of this, despite working on gearboxes day in day out in a clean, well lit workshop and being used to handling small parts under tension we still REGULARLY drop and loose little bits (we joke that the fix takes 20 minutes and finding the part on the floor takes 2 hours) Now, rather than a skilled set of technicians doing the work, how about some chump with no manual dexterity, potentially no one else around to help close a tricky gearbox lid and no actual experience doing the work? The other thing I'd be annoyed about is when you suggest the wrong part. Sure, a broken piston is a broken piston, dead easy (but anyone capable of opening a box can work out the issue) it's when things get tricky enough to warrant a techy: You are told that 'the gun misfeeds the first bbs in a mag' 1. Nozzle spring returns it fine, maybe the tappet plate, so you open it and sure, there's a little wear. You say 'buy a new tappet and call me back once it's there' 3 days go by and they call again They fit it and nothing changes. bizarre, maybe the nozzle is the wrong one, or worn out slightly? Buy a new nozzle again, 3 days go by and they get the nozzle fitted. Still nothing. maybe delay the tappet again, parts ordered, 3 days yadayadayada Still no improvement and now it's a week and a half later, they're out 3 parts that weren't needed + postage, you'd be at £30-50 easily PLUS your fee (charge hourly or you might aswell not bother) AND they're frustrated AND the gun doesn't work. had the gun been brought to me in store: quick assessment, range for the techy to have a try of the issue - simple, the tappet return spring is worn out. Fit a new one. When you pay the tech fee (certainly at Patrol Base) you aren'y just paying for the time taken, you're paying for every previous job where the tech has learnt something, worked something out to make your gun better, faster. I can tell you (with a quick shoot on the range and chat with the owner) almost any issue with most gun types, I know foibles of different gearboxes and brands. EG. KA V2 tend to have shit cut off levers, easily fixed with an ASG UU lever filed to fit (something that took me 13 minutes last time I did it from out of the gunbag, to tested and back on the rack)

Metal reciever yes. Metal is rather glossy however feels nice, solid gun. Internals are just as the Double Eagle shotguns and pretty good range however you can't use anything but 0.20g bb's otherwise range is rather short (fixed hop-up). Throws 0.20g bb's a good 35-40 metres though.

  33. >2015 >Lumping Arma and cock of doody in the same genre They are absolutely the best thing we can hope for, not just as airsofters, but as members of a shooting community. The more people are either Pro-Gun or at least not Anti-gun the better for the longevity of our sport and those with similar pastimes (shooters, hunters etc) Thanks to getting kids from a very early age interested in gaming, many of which will play FPS and shooters in general, they will learn to not be scared by firearms and their lookalikes, rather (the correct ideology) of being respectful, yet interested. An remember - if someone at work, college or school has expressed even the vaguest interest in trying out airsofting you MUST invite them along to try it. Even if they don't take it up as a hobby, they will better understand our views and be less likely to push towards a firearms and RIF ban.
