Inner barrel
Unrustle_Thine_Jimmies and one other reacted to Ian_Gere for a topic
I upgraded the barrel of my JG V61 Scorpion (their name for Vz61 Skorpion) to a 127x6.01mm PDI / x-fire.org were having a free postage event (it's something they do periodically so always worth popping in) so i thought i may as well give it a whirl - glad i did. Even though the groove for the rubber is on the same side as the window requiring a very rare type of rubber (which I CBA with) so I have been using it with a bodged in ordinary rubber wrapped in PTFE tape, the flat-ish range increased by over 5m but accuracy at range is markedly better - I'm waiting for some gb parts for it before i open it up again, but i now have one of the correct shape rubbers, so i have great hopes for it, since the ROF has been made more than acceptable by a LiPo and Gate Pico MOSFET. Note: not all PDI barrels have the funky groove position.2 points -

First Aid
NickM and one other reacted to Mr Monkey Nuts for a topic
I apologise if my statements have caused an offence and seem patronising, they are not aimed an any individuals in particular. However my point still stands that this is a step above and beyond "first aid", if you are going to be carrying this equipment, you need to be trained and prepared to manage this level of patient and injury. I have no doubts that as adults who display a level of maturity, both Ian and Nick may be capable of managing these patients with appropriate training, however I am very aware that not all Airsoft players are mature and adult enough to know the difference, I just don't want this thread dramatising and idealising the advanced "gucci" stuff to the younger generation and the less medically experienced, players who may read this and assume that a CAT is a standard level of first aid intervention required on the field.2 points -

Yes, but you'd be better off changing to a different style of handguard with rails to let you attach a torch more easily. Try not to confuse "upgrade" with "accessorise" though, "upgrade" is generally taken as changing the internals to achieve better performance (which to be honest you shouldn't need for a while yet) whereas the bits you bolt on to change the look are more "accessories" - stocks, handguards, sights etc. You WILL ask loads of questions on what to get (Flex will advise you to buy everything the same as he did but that's just his way and we love him for it - kinda like a little puppy), you WILL spunk a load of cash on stuff to bolt onto your gun to make it "yours" and you WILL end up with most if not all of it skulking around on your bedroom floor when you realise it eith doesn't help, doesn't fit or makes your gun too heavy to bother with. Don't feel bad about it though, everyone does it. It's like an airsoft rite of passage if you will. This is the handguard with built in torch http://www.wgcshop.com/wgc2008/main/product_detail1.php?search_From=searchItem&item=GP-ACC-726A&search=special&rs=m500&catid=&cat=&view_choice=a or you could get a Magpul MOE style handguard but you'll also need the rail kit to be able to bolt torches on. Failing that you can look for a 7" RIS handguard.2 points -

Orite guys and gals. New to the forums and relatively new to airsoft. Played a couple of times at Bristol airsoft and a couple of local paintball sites (on airsoft days). Now I've gone and bought myself a WE Baby Hi-Capa (small hands) and love it and am really looking at an SRC G36c.1 point -
Nah, it's cos I don't know what size I actually need and cannot find single ones anyway. A pack of 20 the right size is the same price as 255 assorted sizes.1 point

inner barrel dimensions???
ronin677 reacted to BrightCandle for a topic
You mean in terms of whether its 6.08, 6.03 etc? I don't know of a measuring tool that can do it actually, its one of the complaints the airsoft mechanics. Does it matter? I thought the R hop Z kit gave you a few different pieces and you file it to suit your barrel. I personally found consistency improved with a G hop, not so much range but certainly the variance in hop reduced. Hard to measure the accuracy improvement without a 30m range but it was very noticable and I suspect the R hop will show a similar effect for you once its done right.1 point -

I must admit its good fun using a melee weapon, I've had my weapons fail on 4 occasions and sneaking around with a knife or something feels much better than just open hands. One of my first outings as DREDD I actually forgot to bring the specialised batteries to power the pistol, basically went out with a foam baton and a riot shield, ended up chasing a group of guys who had a great story to tell lol. I am desperate to get one of these http://www.thevikingstore.co.uk/larp-dark-moon---chainsword-2563-p.asp1 point

When you paid did you send the funds as a gift? If you did then there's not a lot that can be done (Trust me, my other hobby is buying toys from all over the world). If you sent is as "For goods" then Paypal will be able to get the money back. Did the payment draw from a Visa card? if so you're also covered by Visa. I had an issue earlier in the year with an item than I pre-ordered & six months later I was still waiting, paypal wouldn't act as it had been more than 30 days (If I remember correctly) but Visa give you 6 months, they instantly gave me my money back then claimed it back against paypal!1 point -

I placed an order for an Element M300 from Ali Express a week or so ago, but while i'm waiting for it to arrive I need a torch, the site I play has rooms of complete darkness. A quick trip to wilkos and I picked up a pretty impressive torch for £10. Its sold as a Bike light, but boasts 3 watt CREE led. has a high output, low output and a strobe function and its incredibly bright when shone into a retina. it has a Metal body with a plastic lense. Combined with a Weaver mount that cost £10, ive got a pretty solid, practical and tactical torch for not a lot of cash. I shall do a full comparative review of it next to the element sf clone, when it arrives. http://www.wilko.com/bike-parts+accessories/wilko-bike-light-front-cree-led-high-intensity-black/invt/0342373?VBMST=cree http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171335335004?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT1 point -

If the two pins through the underside of the front sight / gas block piece are not keeping it solidly attached to the barrel, then although you may be able to get it all wobbly free by tightening something onto the muzzle thread, it will be only one medium bump away from failure. Such a failure could, if you were carrying it slung, result in losing the top front handguard endcap - which particular one i mention because they are like the proverbial rocking horse shite... You might try taking the pins out and spreading the split in the dowel to make them fatter. They will then fit more tightly in their holes. If they have been hammered in and out a few times, they may have lost their springiness. These people do solid body pins - personally i was unable to find the right size split hollow dowel pins. However if you go after replacements and come up with the goods, please msg me1 point -

After reading this I'm glad I went with a used EBB raider vs a cm. It's the little things like the charging handle having a purpose that makes the difference.Although the first thing I did with the EBB was to change the cylinder to stop the blow back . Thanks for the review flex.1 point -

Well to all intents and purposes they're a pair of small multicam plate carriers, they're going to look somewhat similar regardless. That doesn't make them the same though.1 point

Well apart from The cut of the PC The size difference The harness The plate bags The internal cummerbund The integrated mbitr pouches The kangaroo pouch The shoulder pads The quick release system The internal stkss system The internal pads The ability to zip on panels They are pretty much the same1 point

Hmm.. I don't really agree with that. They're both fairly modern styled plate carriers, but that's about where the similarities end. There's a lot of differences.1 point

I started off thinking of the Bizon as a sniper backup, but after reading some more reviews I started to think that it would be good for CQB too, and now I've fired my own, it's good as an all rounder. Which makes me feel better about buying 2 extra mags and enough pouch space to carry 5 spares. Getting the mags in and out is a bit of a pain. Ah, I'll shut up and write a proper review when I've skirmished it!1 point

Just to be clear here, that starter pack is a good deal for what you get - if you bought those items separately, especially if you bought them from various retailers so had shipping added for each item, you would have to pay plenty more. But it is not amazing. Nor is it awesome. For £120 + Shipping it is most of what you need to see if you enjoy airsoft. The only other essential is decent boots. The gun will keep up with most you will be up against. The eyepro gives good seethruability, but if you take a burst of full auto to the face, although there is no way that the mesh will fail there and then, it may bend so much that it becomes unsafe to use in future. It's pretty rare for that to happen though, because you jump and move your head! If you run around and pant inside that mask, you will get spit building up inside it, which is unpleasant. Compared to other designs it is not particularly comfortable - you've got thin plastic edges against your skin and you have to wear your eyepro tight, because if it slips while you are running, you could lose an eye. The problem is that the mask portion hangs from the goggles portion and all of it is attached to you by the single goggle strap, which means that you have to have the goggle strap tighter than if it was just supporting the weight of the goggles, causing the plastic edges to dig in more - I took the mask off and wore the goggs with a half face mask with its own strap... but only once because I had better goggs in the post! Read this before you spend any more money. Loz is right though - you will buy stuff which turns out to have been not worth bothering with. There is a whole industry based on the enthusiasm of noob airsofters, because we all went "Oh yeah, this is cool! Now I want all the toys... shiney shiney! Etc." and 90% of it is bollocks. Before you buy a different handguard, start a thread on here to ask if anyone knows whether it will fit a CM16, because different manufacturers do use slightly different sizes and methods of attachment. But before you think about fitting a torch, you need at least one spare mag. In truth, unless the site you attend has plenty of dark areas, you will get more fun out of a pack of 5 midcap mags and the webbing to carry them. Have you decided what you are going to wear? Knee and elbow pads will probably be more use than a torch also.1 point

2nd AIF (2nd world war Aussie). Australian Imperial Force is an organisation created separately from the normal army (militia). The Australian Army was not allowed to operate outside Australian Territory by the constitution. The AIF was not the army so it was not bound by this rule but had to be entirely formed of volunteers. 1st 2 pics are early war. A mix of WW1 Australian gear and British gear. This is based upon pictures of Aussies during the early Libya campaigns Late war (jungle). By now the Aussies are working with Americans so you see American influences such as the lace up gaiters and I am using US HBT trousers, which the Aussies are known to have managed to obtain.1 point -

Hi all sorry not had a chance to get on here lately with work. I've now had a chance to skirmish with the mask and have decided it's absolutely hopeless. Far too bulky around the mouth area to effectively aim using the sights in the rental M4 I had, and also was completely blinded by condensation within 15 minutes of starting. In my desperation I even popped out the lens and wore the helmet with my Bollé glasses underneath and they were the same. I was hugely surprised at how little ventilation there was in there given the amount of holes in it. Won't be using it again, and it spoiled my first skirmish so much I have decided to invest in some ESS Turbofan goggles ASAP to prevent it ever happening again1 point

My first ever airsoft gun I got when I was about 7, it was a spring copy of some weird Sig design that looked a bit like a Walther PPK or a Makarov. It was so easy to cock that I thought it was broken, and it was so shit that I was never sure it even worked lol. It used to fire less than a foot and BBs could literally come out of the barrel at 90° So I tend to discount it... I got a spring P228 when I was about 13, it was actually pretty good tbh, cost about £30, ejection port opened and everything. I ended up with 4 or 5 spring pistols along the same line, including an M9, a Desert Eagle, a S&W M1911 type thing, and a USP that actually had a slide lock feature lol. Still got the Desert Eagle lol, still works. It's actually not that bad either. Also had a spring Uzi, which I also still have, and I had a spring M16, which was just crap in every sense of the word. The first airsoft gun that I would actually consider an airsoft gun - because when I got all the ones mentioned above, I didn't know what airsoft was, I just bought the guns because they were guns - was a WE M16A3 GBBR, one of the old closed bolt ones. My first ever post on this forum was actually asking about gas rifles, they're why I got into airsoft lol. Found some videos on YouTube, decided I needed one in my life, played airsoft as my means to get one, got one, realised airsoft was awesome in the process, and here I am. Incidentally, I recommend no one ever buying a GBBR as their first gun...1 point -

Melee Choices for the Battlefield
Ian_Gere reacted to ronnyjodes for a topic
I've mentioned this before but Op-Tactical sites and Tac House Spartan (and ex Op Tac site) attract some awesome melee weapons. I have a pair of sai, one guy has an infamous samurai sword that he uses so devastatingly it's made it's way in to safety briefings, there's a guy with a rubber wrench and I've seen a foam hammer of Thor on a bungee cord, a sword of omens from Thundercats and a load of lightsabers. My favourite ever melee kill at Tac House was a Google knife kill. The guy didn't have a melee weapon so he Google image searched for knife pictures, tapped someone on the shoulder with his phone and whispered in his ear "Google knife kill." I bloody love that place.1 point -
