  1. Sensible advice. As opposed to conversations that go like this: Customer "hi I'm thinking I would like to upgrade my spring please. I'm not interested in high rates of fire or stupid FPSs" Tech "nah mate, you need some siegetek dual sector gears and a high torque motor and replace the bearings with uber leet super hard diamond ones made by NASA. Of course you'll have to change the barrel, the hop, the shims, the gearbox case and the outside of the rifle but it'll be AWESOME" Oh and someone that will actually deliver on their promises, not charge for a spring change and then just lop a couple of coils off the one that the gun came in with. Realistic fixed price servicing. We all know it doesn't take 3 days to change simple component so don't try and charge me for three days work to change a spring and wire in a MOSFET.

  2. I have done a fair bit of research on them and have yet to find anyone who has said they are sh*t. There are plenty of people who shouldn't ever be using a GBB gun reviewing the G&G guns slating the body for being plastic and moaning about not being able to buy hi cap magazines for it, but none seem to berate the performance, quite the contrary from my reading. We all know gas guns are very much like marmite. At the end of the day every GBB is a fairly basic system that is replicated across most of the gas guns, there isn't a lot of new or innovation between any of the brands, GHK have fitted it into a gearbox shape that drops into a reciever, I predict that they are still the same principle parts that would be going into their normal guns, just in a different package. The main difference I can see is that it doesn't seem to have as big a sliding recoil like other Gas guns do. The thing to remember is that this is an older design, from 2011 / 2012, tweaks and improvements have been made since from the things they have learnt from making and developing the G5 and the Hepatitis (or whatever it was called) There are videos showing it push over 100 shots from a single mag, just as the G5 does. At the end of the day, Its an £80 bit of kit, I'm not expecting the world, but it should be a good way to judge if I genuinely like gas, or if i'm just romanticising before spending £500+ on a G5 and a set of mags. I will be sure to give it a full and honest review once its arrived, and be assured if it is indeed sh*t (although I highly doubt it)I will tell you. [Edit to Add] it also seems to lack the overtly functioning bolt system, that some other brands do. I predict that is to keep size and complications down allowing it to fit different brands of receivers. In all honesty that is a big plus for me, how many times do we read about bolts and guides bending or snapping because they are made of paper, people spend as much money on steel parts as the did on the gun in the first place.

  4. If you want to actually hit what you are aiming for, use heavier BBs. At least 0.25 or 0.28+ if your gun can handle it. I usually set the target at 40m. First thing is to set the hopup. Don't use the sights, just look down the barrel to check the trajectory. People usually prefer one of the two: set the hopup to get the flattest trajectory with no raise in it. This is the most predictable trajectory. I prefer the other way, a little bit of raise in it at the last part. This gives the most range. Something like the difference between the green and the black graph. (Yeah, I know it is an other graph, it's just for the shape of it.) If you are happy with the trajectory, set your sights to the impact point on the target. First set the iron sights (horizontal, then vertical), then the red dot or optics if you use one. After you are done with that, spend a lot of time on different distances too. Learn how much you have to aim below or above the target on certain distances. If your hopup is fine, you don't really need to touch it again, except if you buy an other brand of BBs, or the temperature/humidity changes significantly. Check before every game if everything is still ok. Usually you don't have to touch the sights, just the hopup to get the same trajectory as you set the first time.

  5. The indoor/outdoor thing. It's more about HOW you use the gun and not so much about WHICH gun you buy. Every swinging dick and his dog will try and tell you that you need some kind of 6 inch long uber high ROF machinepistol for CQB and that anything else will have you at a disadvantage. Ignore these people for they are talking shite. A standard length M4 is absolutely fine for CQB. The extra barrel length will help with range when you go outdoors too. Not to the degree that a full length rifle will make a difference over an MP5K for example but if you want one gun to do both then you won't go far wrong with anything around similar dimensions to the standard M4. Also anyone that tells you a SCAR is great for CQB "because you can fold the stock" is also talking bollocks. The only reason that the stock on SCARs or AKs or anything else made that way is so that they take up less space for storage and for carrying in vehicles. The rest of the time the stock should be extended. A SCAR is good for CQB because it's a great gun and not significantly bigger than an M4. Ditto 416s et al.

  7. So I'm sat in a hotel at the moment watching Second In Command. It's awful. Like, really awful. So far I have witnessed EVERY cliche know to filmkind. And did you know, that if you cut the power cables to a cctv camera - the front of it will explode? Also, guns don't have recoil (who knew, everyone who's paid for a Recoil Shock has been ripped off). And EVERYTHING ELSE. Bad guys ALWAYS stand right in front of their enemy without armour of barricades or any substantial cover, because they've got a hostage and that makes it totally safe. The American embassy has a compound with a 10ft concrete wall and a solid steel, foot thick gate. BUT, because the enemy are coming, on foot, with mixed assault weapons, they feel the need to put a wardrobe against the front door to make sure the baddies stay out. The hero is a suave tough guy with a troubled past and a strange accent, and sure, he did that thing that time where he got everyone killed, but he NEVER misses and he NEVER needs to show caution because he's such a master tactician that he makes Shih-Tzu or whoever it was (who wrote the art of war) look like a three year old mashing his head against a keyboard whilst playing My Little Pony Island Adventure. And there's oh so so so much more. It's almost as bad as Olympus Has Fallen where the SAM system deploys out of the top of the whitehouse (in the opening scenes where they shoot down the AC130, it literally pops up out of the oval office so it must be awful cramped for Obama seeing as he's three billion f**king feet tall). I'm only watching this s**t because babestation isn't on yet... What's everyone elses favorite awful war films?

  10. Consistency with pricing is probably the main point I'd want, also actual timescales of when something will be done by rather than be fobbed off with the old "I've got a lot of other orders" excuse. Be nice to have a rough estimate rather than waiting for weeks on end with no change.

Right - don't quite get this but here goes: They are not UKARA reg and they 2-Tone a fair amount of their guns. So I ring them and ask them about not painting a gun, yes we can do that if you can provide valid defense I got UKARA - yup I can verify that sir.... Great, but apparently they will only sell RIF face to face OK let me get this straight, I got defense and you have to check that, saves you painting gun But I can't buy from you online unless 2-Tone - even though you can verify my defense, my details & paypal I hardly sound like some 13yr old but even after all this they are not budging it seems I have to drive over to Slough even though you verify I am on the level and saves you painting the thing So I use up my petrol n all that - even though I have not had to do this crap for: LWA Fire Support Pro Airsoft Zero One - though did have to fill out pyro form & scan it back to them Airsoft World BBGuns4Less UK-Airsoft plus any others I forgot since getting UKARA ffs BOLLOCKS - found it much cheaper elsewhere also with free delivery bought in 2-Tone, save my petrol and buy some dettol or Krylon instead jjjjjeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzz Always thought they were a bit better than other BB sites but now realise gotta always have 2-Tone even if you have UKARA unless you drive over to Slough - bit of a 8itch if you live up North/Scotland I mean the other 2 BB muppets do Black guns if you got UKARA and OnlyBBGuns will sell you a RIF face 2 face so if they check/verify and delivery is going to UKARA address - wtf is problem Still I suppose they have their own rules n guidelines to follow - but sounds a tad ott in my book

  17. You may all call me silly for starting this when a mass produced version is coming out in the next month or so but i feel like it. So now thats out of the way, we can begin. My base gun is ares/amoeba am-009 so from the get go i have a reasonably accurate ris/handguard and receiver; I wont be changing any of these. My main reference picture is this And this rifle has from what i can tell a 10/12" ris which is what i already have and it happens to be octagonal, like mine. So the next thing i need is a stock, but then there is the question of battery storage. If i cant come up with a better idea, i'll get someone to front wire my rifle then use a PEQ box. I will state now that the stock is at the bottom of the shopping list. The one i plan on using is this VFC replica 416c stock http://www.ebairsoft.com/aabb-hk416c-style-stock-416aeg-p-7548.html it seems farily accurate and with some modding to the buttplate it will look fine. But as i said i will be sticking to the battleaxe stock for now. Next is the suppressor, i'll need a rounded one of about 5-6 inches. As of yet i can't find a suitable one as i'd like it to be "integrally" suppressed, if anyone can help me out on this it would be appreciated. If i can gather the money together for this it should be ready by the end of autumn time. So, what i need help with is: Battery placement Suppressor Modding a stock to fit the receiver Any input or suggestions are very useful

The sound of mine when it fires is unreal EVERYONE comments on it when it's going. Had it for about 12 months or so and it's never missed a beat not one. Mine the Raider S but same weapon all the same. My comments can be the same as Passey.

  20. You are not allowed to SELL an airsoft gun - two-tone or RIF to anyone under the age of 18. You can sell a two-tone to anyone over 18 and sell a RIF to anyone over 18 who has a valid defence. It is the seller who commits an offence if they do not comply with this (even though they may never be caught). The person over 18 who buys the gun can then `gift' it to someone under 18 - two-tone or RIF. If someone under the age of 18 gives their parent (or anyone over 18) the money and asks them to buy a two-tone for them, then they would not be able to claim that the gun had been `gifted'. You could argue that if Dad says to his son "I pay £6 every Saturday having my car washed at Tesco. If you wash it every Saturday then after a year I will buy you a gun costing £300" then this is not a `gift'. The Dad is supplying a gun in return for work. The chances of this type of deal ever ending up with a prosecution are very, very remote but it is not `legal'. There will always be loopholes. There was a thread some time ago about a pistol (Desert Eagle if I remember correctly). You could not buy one from any airsoft shop unless you had a valid defence. However, there was a company selling them as air-guns which anyone over 18 could buy in a face-to-face transaction. I would guess that the retailer would have argued that the fps was above the limit allowed by airsoft sites but fell within the limits for an air-gun.

  23. Lozart... I'm on my tablet, so basically, playing with large posts is quite a chore... I basically agree with everything. It's a given that you would contact someone of you find anything. And obviously, your sending back a fully functioning gun that you know to be in good order... Or you've failed as a mech. I think regardless of time taken to fix something, you quote for a job, then that's the price. If you take too long to do it... That's your problem, not the customers. This would be a side business, and not a main source of income... The onus would be on quality, not profit... The profit just allows me to buy more toys and fund a serious "tinkering" addiction.

  26. It is not really a `gift; if the son gives Mum the money to buy the gun. If you bought a diamond bracelet for your wife/girlfriend/mistress and gave it to her then I reckon she would be very happy. If you then said "you owe me £1k for that" then maybe a different response as it is no longer a `gift'. If the Mum uses the son's money to but him a gun then she is not `gifting' it to him. In practice, they would get away with it. The same would apply if you had a friend taking up airsoft and he gave you the money to by a RIF for him under your UKARA number. What you could do is buy the RIF and loan it to your friend until he obtains his defence and then sell it to him In the meantime he may give you a security deposit (equal to the cost of the gun) to cover any damage etc. Lots of ways to get round the regulations but not strictly legal.

I notice that you are posting a lot of question topics and comments. Have you read this guide yet? It's among the best advice available for new players on here. It will save you a lot of money and time asking questions. The JustBBGuns thread on here is one of the best reads on the forum (Link). And as a general rule of thumb, don't buy your gear from any site which has any of the words "cheap" or "BB Guns" in the name. As for that website (liveextreme), I've never heard of it until you brought it up. *edit: just looked through their products. They are charging SIGNIFICANTLY more money for a lot of guns on their site than I would expect to pay from sites like Airsoft World, ZeroOne, TaiwanGun or even Land Warrior. [EG: My wee brother bought a JG MAC11 from Airsoft World and paid extra for two tone. It fires about 230FPS maximum. Cost about £100 (including batteries, magazines x2). The site you're looking at is charging over £150 for the same thing, and claim it shoots at "280 – 300 FPS". {for reference: that gun on AirsoftWorld compared with that same gun on LiveExtreme}] Quality wise, the AEGs they are selling are pretty meh other than a few exeptions.*

Thinking of selling my AK to get a GBB M4, then I plan to run both the M4 and the SCAR into the ground, batter them basically, use them right until they can no longer be used. Then fix up the SCAR with my spare parts, and sell it. Then either use the money to upgrade the M4 with steel parts, or sell the M4 as well, with half my mags, and get the GHK. But I'm not sure going all gas is a good idea.

  39. Hey there, as a beginner myself I would say start with a gun, once you have that sorted the vest and pouches would depend on the gun, no point buying pouches for a M4 if you have AK mags etc... Also it depends where you play for your kit. And as I play indoors in the dark mostly I went to Primark and got black combat trousers and a long sleeve tee shirt. For a beginner go for cheap stuff, I hit Ebay hard when I first started, got a mask, gun sling, belt, mag pouches, knee pads and pistols holster from there, nothing cost much more than a tenner for each item. This is pretty much the extent of my current loadout. However I am looking to do lots of outdoor skirmishing next year so will want some sort of multicam set up with a decent vest and backpack to carry all my gear. But like I say, the kit doesnt need to be to spec or expensive and also be careful not to buy things you dont want or need, I built my kit up over 4 or 5 skirmishes, realising after each one I needed something else. On my first visit to an Airsoft shop they tried selling me over half their stock "now Sir, you need a vest, this one here is only £89.99, also these gloves at £25.99 go great and match this mask at £85.99 GRRRRR Only thing I would reccomend spending money on is face protection, either a cool AND COMFORTABLE full face mask, but make sure your visability is ok, or a decent pair of goggles and lower mask.

  40. Tried a few BBs through it this evening. I wish I had a chrono to confirm but it sure looked like the rof has improved. The trigger response it really noticeable. I have a stock TM mp5 and the trigger response compared to that is like night and day. I'm very happy I've done this, it makes me feel like a competent airsofter. It's daunting at first, especially when you haven't got anyone around to tell you where you might of gone wrong. If you take your time and inspect how each part meshes with another one it shouldn't be too difficult. I think everyone should go through this procedure before can call yourself a serious airsofter. One thing I would suggest which I wish I had done is take pictures as you go along. It might just save you an hour of trauling the internet to find out which way a part goes or where that "extra" spring might go

I suppose you could but the campsite and the shenanigans that go on in the campsite after playing are the main reason we go. The actual game play isn't all that great, its good for the most part and its fun seeing over a thousand players attacking a single small village at the end of the day is pretty intense. Probably wont do that one again this year.

    The team flex help thread!

I'm alright with this thread, however there's a few things I'd like people to consider. Airsoft is a diverse sport with diverse equipment, requirements and suchlike. Often, there is no simple answer and indeed, most answers are simply opinion or experience based rather than fact - this often supports healthy debate and discussion which is the lifeblood of our community. As such, I feel it is better to voice questions in individual threads, or even come up with half a dozen on a certain subject and then make a thread, I honestly feel a thread like this only serves to stifle potential debate. I also feel it would be more constructive to revive the old quick questions thread and pin it, rather than making a thread just for one person. As I say, I'm not going to close this thread or anything, but just some food for thought!

This is to become my recon rig. I will put blue force gear 417 pouches in the front of the mav, and have 1 pistol on the belt, with a dump pouch and little utility ooh for bbs, and then 4 pistol mags. My other pistol will be tan in a drop leg holster. This means my other loudout can be used for just my m4, and I can still wear a paca underneath the mav invade of welts. Also I may add to it and put my mp5 mags on there somewhere
