Now that I got a front strap from Japan and a metal suppressor from a chap on here, the mac11 is complete! Such a nasty little sniper secondary.

  3. The origin of the word camouflage comes from the French to disguise. This still envelopes the military use, which is more than just hiding something to be unseen - it’s actually more about disguising what you do see as opposed to not being seen - especially to be seen but not noticed. WW1 dazzle camouflage is a perfect illustration that camouflage isn’t about avoiding being seen but to disguise what you see and delay/prevent your opposition from being able to quickly identify what has been seen and to delay the understanding of its size, distance, direction, speed etc A ghillie might hit the sweet spot of being invisible, but being harder to notice, identify and understand the body shape is a success for the ghillied player. The enemy of the ghillie is movement, and equally the enemy of the player in jeans & hoody is movement We notice movement, then we interpret whether that thing that just moved is a threat or not. That buys time for the quiet player

I am fully aware of whom you speak of. This particular player often uses his disabilities to try to win arguements and get his own way. Has been banned from multiple sights for safety issues and uses legal action threats constantly. It's not discrimination as this individual has literally been given chance after chance before being banned. And other player would have been automatically removed and banned without hesitation. If anything they were given more leeway due to their existing conditions. My brother has similar disabilities and I won't bring him along to matches due to his lack of control if he becomes triggered. Safety is priority especially when you can lose an eye and those Airsoft weapons are often heavy enough to knock someone out with.

  6. I've crafted my own "ghillie". I put it in inverted commas because it's not a full suit with the trousers and all that malarkey, it's just a viper mesh jacket that covers head, shoulders and down my back. I made a rifle wrap to match and realistically that's all I really need to cover up if I pick my spot to hide properly. I only wear it when I've got my BASR in my mitts. I take it off to run anything else because, well, its just not sporting. As others have said, rentals won't get what us happening to them or appreciate the skill that a good sniper has employed to brass them up without being seen.....then again, the majority of ghillie wearers I have met on a casual skirmish day are utterly clueless about actual stealth and think they are fucking Batfink, "your plastic balls cannot harm me, my leaves are like a shield of steel!" kind of thing. I think ghillie is for BASR only, just my twopenneth. Thinking about an alternative that let's anyone use a ghillie. A ghillie wearer, not using a BASR is required to shout "Nee" once every 30 seconds.....and if there are two of them working as a team, one has to be slightly higher than the other to create a nice little two level effect to the shrubbery.

  7. I can see where you're coming from but it's also the prerogative of anyone who isn't in-game to make it clear, whether that's by a hand in the air, dead rags or shouts of "dead man walking". Not doing these tells me the player is a legitimate target
    3 points
  8. I’m with you on ‘dead man walking’ As long as you aren’t actually cheating (hand up to walk through as a dead player then shooting), and in line with event rules then it’s valid (I also encourage those willing to risk it in my game rules) If in doubt challenge / shoot. If it’s a problem then adopt clear systems such as dead rags (but this is another thread diversion with an often argued topic) It doesn’t, and is now deceased, following the great lightning strike fire of Ironsight Our turret was an event prop/objective, not for players to turn up and use but for players to try and pass or defeat It did have a variety of disablement systems - for safety purposes as a kill switch system, and player activated controls to ‘kill’ it As seen on TV, and an upcoming card game Solaco RIP The ‘intelligence’ of AI are highly exaggerated It has its uses, but many more limitations

  9. Surely to a lesser degree, every m4 boxmag dsg wanker is doing the same, trying to get an unfair (?) advantage by essentially trying to put down 2 or 3 times the bbs downrange against their opponents, all elements of realism are lost, as similar rof chainguns aren't commonplace on the infantry battlefield, yet walk on days are full of dsg wankers😜 Edit: what if said dsg jizzbucket turned up at a site & at the chrono the rof was also checked, & the Marshall says "nah sorry mate, your doing more than 18rps, it's a wankergun, you can only use it with lo-caps, & if you've got none,we'll rent you some we've got here, but they are painted yellow" 🤣 Definitely food for thought😈

That's another hotly debated topic as some people consider it cheating. Personally, if I see someone walking nonchalantly and their hand isn't in the air, they're getting a shot to the plate carrier. One of my friends is really good at doing this, walking nonchalantly with his rifle in hand past the enemy team and then shooting them in the back, and it's something we do at Vietnam filmsims as well, but with a hidden pistol tucked into the trousers and no rifle in hand. "No VC, civilian, civilian!" *blam blam blam*

Okay, so controversial topic. I'm assuming this persons disability is something like ASC (not allowed refer to it as a spectrum now, which in itself is silly as there's a clear difference between functioning and non functioning imho) Anywho, the biggest disservice believe it or not for those with ASC that you can do, is to treat them any different than regular folk. (Applies to what we would call functioning ones) So, this person had to be shown that what they did was wrong and banning them because of their actions puts people at risk is fair and reasonable. It's not discrimination to do. In terms of other disabilities - well, last year at driver wood there was a guy in a wheel chair (running) an LMG and other than the poor bastard getting overshot because he cant both keep hand in the air and wheel himself back to spawn. Airsofters will generally accept every one due to one simple reason. Don't matter what you look like, what you believe in, or what's wrong with you.....we will happily shoot you without hesitation.

  13. And thats fine, if its advertised as that. I would have paid it just to have the online badge but thats not what was offered. I pay the same amount to be a subscribing member of a motorbike forum that gives you acces to a particular section of the site. Im on here much, much more than that one but its fine because they were upfront from the beginning. It's not about the actual patch anymore, its the principal. We've been offered a product, paid in good faith, then completely ignored numerous times. Maybe the buy a patch page needs changing to say that your only getting an online patch and the money goes to the site upkeep. Good effort at trying to placate me with the idea of being one of the cool kids though! 😁

  17. As for AI sentry guns There was also a trial of facial recognition software done years ago by HOSDB. From what I heard it went almost just as badly with a high number of misses and false positives As for players nonchalantly walking into other teams lines, I wouldn't call a lack of situational awareness cheating

Okay, but *apart* from the recoil shocks, magnetic fire control in the MP5, MWS system, gas AK's, gas semi auto saiga, new pistols, electric shotguns, recoil MK46, sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us? Yes, this isn't a new gun. It's a refresh. Plenty of other threads people say "JG/CYMA have mosfets and Marui don't". Marui refresh to bring them in and then "They're not innovating"? Combined with "I'll wait for the clone to come out" seems hard for them to win.

  28. There is ….. These are intended to avoid facial recognition on CCTV etc, and are therefore also a form of camouflage. When we had our automated sentry gun, it would always prefer to aim at my head during testing, setting up etc. When browsing the the AIs reference pictures we observed two things: 1) The torso presented the largest and most obvious target, but images captured in the tracking sequences were sometimes inconsistent, our conclusion was that though MTP/multicam is lighter in contrast to the UKs woodland, the disruptive pattern broke up the human shape and though movement was clearly visible prediction of where that movement was going became inconsistent. The head was a more consistent shape, and the human body tries to keep the head steady when moving, making tracking and prediction more accurate 2) We realised that the AI still had its initial reference images from the first test runs with a football, heads are close enough to a ball shape and moved in similar trajectories (less the bouncing) With two or three targets the system could predict and switch back and forth between where each of the heads would be by the time the barrel switched back On a camouflage perspective for players, we might see a player but we still need to recognise, assess the threat and predict where it will be. A moving target is easier to see, but we have to guess where to shoot A stationary target may not be so obvious, is easy to point at once identified, but not an immediate threat unless their barrel is pointed at us As well as ghillies waiting for an opportunity, the sneaky players who quietly but blatently stroll behind your lines may be ‘camouflaging’ with non aggressive actions

Generally yes stick to the same brand of mag as the gun. But even then with Airsoft QC it's not always the case that same brand will feed

  30. M4/STANAG mags are all over the place. I've measured up to 1.5mm difference in front-to-back dimensions across my collection, and, vitally, in the location of the feed. It's a wonder that any of them feed at all. Having to add shims, or even file or sand down the mags, isn't unusual.

  31. I play 1 to 3 times a month. Teams are nice to have and play with together but they're not essential. Depending on the games you play, teamwork is required if completing objectives is your thing such as securing areas, retrieving items, recovering VIPs, etc. For the most part, teamwork with strangers can work out really well in my experience.

  34. Sunday at Special Ops "The Fireplace" My second trip to Carlos's new CQB site, and this one went better - I didn't get lost on the way, I didn't forget anything, I took less stuff (maybe connected to the previous point), and I had some better idea what to expect Considering my knee is knackered at the moment, I went a bit brave and booked in for the full day - £35 for 9:30 - 18:00 I'm a bit crap at remembering and describing actual gameplay so I'll just throw some thoughts at ya... Carlos has put together a decent playbook of games already He's put together a mildly amusing briefing video that gets all his usual info across in a nippy 10 minutes The helicopter helps block some of the line of sight to the first spawn, but it's still eminently 'trappable' by a good team 'Chopper' jokes might get old when everyone is doing them Grenades are fun Except when it doesn't go off, and you have to make The Walk Of Shame to retrieve it! A full day is a long time if you forget to take a packed lunch (only 'food' available: crisps, choccies and Pot Noodles) The 4-a-side mini tournament at the end of the day was great fun whilst you're playing, but the winner-stays-on style means there's a fair bit of waiting around. Some people bailed out, I was tempted myself as I could barely get up off the floor where I'd been resting. There were some long delays - Jet (for it that is his appellation) got his miniature scales out and checked everyone's BB's to make sure no-one was exceeding the 0.25 limit. The lunchtime changeover dragged on a bit due to stragglers, as did some end-of-game bomb-ups. Still, by lunchtime I was already grateful for the breathers, but others might have been annoyed. Hit-taking was mostly good, but a couple of annoying instances of having to pump multiple shots at people to make them "admit to the hit". This 'ere fat bloke running with a brick of Colombia's Finest Marching Powder, retrieved from that there heli-chopper https://www.facebook.com/100060685493832/videos/pcb.933626975336810/7277546335698561 This chap sitting In Da Chopppppppaaa pinned us down for a while. Yay! This was my first experience of running an HPA system, and the tank and line weren't nearly as troubling as I suspected they might be - once I'd fed the line through my shoulder straps to keep it closer to my body. And swapped the tank from a belt pouch that wasn't designed for such a bulky / heavy item to a lightweight rucksack. The Tippmann was great - plenty of 'bang' with every shot, it really is the next best thing to a proper GBBR. It was also my first game with a tracer unit. Carlos is selling 2000x0.25g Bio tracers for £13 which seemed a pretty decent price, considering. I did get through ~3000 during the day (I took some Vorsk ones I'd already bought from Amazon, they were fine). Tracers proved damned useful in the dim lighting for getting the hop and sights sorted out (or allowing you to still hit stuff even when they're not!), and when Carlos dimmed the lights further in the late afternoon, those green streaks of light sure looked purdy I also took along my proven faves - the VFC HK416 GBBR (every shot remains a joyful experience), which I used until I exhausted my gas can. And of course the DE M906C Old Faithful (which in comparison to the other gats really showed it shoots like a frickin' laser beam - especially impressive with the tracers). Shame the thing currently screeches like a cat being run over by a steamroller, even after my attempts at adjusting the motor height. No wonder the motor got a little toasty again. I need Luke to fix it up for me. The HPA experience means I'm really quite likely to buy an Airtac adapter for my '416 now... the realistic gas mag changes are fun, but my 'speedloader' didn't exactly live up to its name (it's getting very graunchy), and with only 3 working mags I wasn't quite on it. I think the adapter plus a bunch of (relatively dirt-cheap) mid-caps instead will be a decent compromise. All in all a very good day

If I had to guess (which I do lol), I'd think it was one of those head & shoulder jobbies? #me too, just to slow the soviet hordes rolling through Germany, at the time it was quietly considered futile given the apparent size/might of their forces, but seeing how they've performed in Afghanistan & more recently Ukraine, I think we might have made them really work for it ?.

  38. I've been using leaf suit ghillies since 2004 and made the very first Chinese leaf suit ghillie. So I was using what is seen everywhere now, long ago. Back then it gave massive advantage to our group as we were playing a different games type to everyone else and no one was used to looking for well crafted ghillies. You went unnoticed more often. Things have changed, just as my group said they would if our suits became mainstream. We said , it would change the game. You see we had already changed the game and all players used these light mesh leaf suits and played total Stealth game. Our game, called hunteering had evolved from our hard-core airsoft club that had run since 1991 and all our events were based around Stealth and fieldcraft. We developed better suits than traditional heavy designs and made a game where every player used a bolt action and Pistol and handfull of ammo that lasted several days, by yourself. It was the pinnacle of what we love the most .... the stalk ..... being hunted .. navigation ..... hard routine and total immersion in nature. Anyway, we said it would change skirmish/airsoft if aspects of our game and equipment became mainstream. However I agree that ghillies should be limited to only bolt action snipers, in the interest of gameplay. Why? For the reasons you give at the top. Bolt action is the most disadvantaged airsoft gun on the field ..... long MED ...no follow up shot.. small mags ...... expensive ..... most technical to setup well....... have to be stationary to stand a chance of hitting someone..... that's why we play with them. They provide the hardest challenge. My group don't do DMRs as we kind of see them as too high a rate of fire to provide the same experience ... you can walk fore onto targets etc lay down rounds while moving .... big mags .... hi semi auto rof..... etc etc I guess we see it as cheating tbh lol So make a bolty player more specialised as a Sniper by allowing him a full ghillie. Maybe DMR can use a jacket only? AEG player can have a ghillie hat only? But that is if you want a balanced game .. which skirmish isn't.... its a pay to win environment due to lack of limits around equipment and ammo. As is, there is no penalty for putting down 100 rounds at someone in 3 seconds. It's a fraction of a mag. Our own game identifies all the limitations that we could use to create a better, more balanced/skillful environment. That is what our "underground sport" is about ...... getting what we want from the time/money invested in the activity. As is, airsofters are moving towards hose pipes you can quickly walk into target without even needing sights and liberally hose that area down till one bb hits. Personally I want more from my game than that. Airsoft is essentially hide and seek ... and tag. You can't blame people for finally realising that hiding is how you win. However, as you say would you rather skirmish is about hide and seek or more about tag?
