  1. I found that by flipping the spring over (i.e. what was at the top is now at the bottom) fixes that issue. I ended up printing 10 of them and I also found that my Quake impact deadly customs holder is a good fit.

  4. I had not intended to play airsoft today; I had been planning to visit either Airsoft Plantation or Dragons Lair on Sunday, but the weather forecast intervened, threatening very heavy rain in the southern part of Essex. Therefore, on Friday afternoon, I decided that I would spend today at Tactical Warfare Airsoft, near Croydon, a site that I last visited with the lad on December 23rd, when we were both impressed with how it had improved. It has an interestingly varied woodland part with a number of structures, including some in the base of an old pit, and a CQB village. In the morning, about 42 players were present, a mixture of experienced players, black clad speedybois, who are drawn in by the CQB village, and a large numbers of rentals. I took three rifles with me; two of which I intended to use. One was my MPiKM, to which I had fitted a new CYMA gear box as the previous combination of the CYMA body, Begadi hop and LCT gearbox was not a success. My guess at where the hop should be set turned out to be spot on and it shot like a dream. I highly recommend the Begadi AK hops to anyone. Another was my "built from bits" M4, fitted with one of @ak2m4's brushless motors and a Perun Hybrid; this was just along for testing and also shot perfectly. After the morning rituals, we set off for our first game, which was in the CQB village. The first thing that struck me was the mud; it was epic! Then came the realisation that the village had been significantly developed since my last visit, now being far more complex and a lot tighter. The game was a simple domination, using a card reader in the centre of the village; both sides had 10 cards, each of which could only be read once on each visit to the reader. Players had infinite regens on their start points. I found a superb position behind a fence and a bush, which gave me a great view over two of the main routes through the village; I got a huge number of hits, completely cutting off those routes, without getting hit once. We won the game by an impressive margin as the other team seemed hesitant to push up. Following this, we wandered off to do an attack/defence game in the Pit. Defenders had two lives and attackers had infinite regens. This was a timed game with the end being when the attackers had five players in the building at the base of the Pit. I started off with a group attacking the plateau on the far side of the Pit and was shot almost immediately by a sniper lurking on the back of the plateau. Returning from regen, i found that our group had taken the plateau and were pushing into the pit, while the other part of the team descended into it from the front. It took a while to winkle the defenders out of their positions and eventually take control of the building. This game was then turned around; I usually defend the plateau but, on this occasion, decided to set up on top of the ridge to the side of the Pit, taking advantage of the MPiKM's range and accuracy. This proved profitable until I attracted the attention of a sniper, who potted me. I moved to another position slightly further round and had fun taking out attackers until the same sniper got me again. We won by a reasonable time margin. Then, it was back to the village for the barrel game, which is a staple of TWA. The attackers, with infinite regens, had to locate three numbered barrels in the village and get them back to their start point; again, this was a timed game. We were defending and I had a set of nice duels with enemy before being hit and falling back to a new position, where I was shot by my own side :(. Being my second hit, i was reduced to being a spectator. This was then turned around; we recovered all three barrels in a slightly longer time than the other team. All of these games were played without returning to the safe zone, which is a nice feature of TWA. At lunch time, the morning-only players left, leaving both sides significantly reduced; after lunch the teams were rebalanced and we restarted with an interesting game. Each team had a base in the woods with a smoke grenade wired up to a remotely controlled detonator; two remote controls, one for each team, were hidden in the woods. The teams had to find their remote, take it back to their base and, hopefully, set off the grenade in the opponent's base; the catch was that each remote had two unmarked buttons, one would set off the grenade in the opponent's base, while the other would set off the one in your own base. This was a hard fought game with some great firefights, which ended with our opponents setting off the grenade in our base :(. After this game, a number of players left, leaving us somewhat outnumbered; however, only slightly daunted, we set off to get two flags to the far end of the village from our regen at the Police Station; we had infinite regens and the defenders had one life each. This proved to be a bit of a struggle, but we eventually cleared them out. In the reverse of the game, I started on the right of the village, intercepting a lot of attackers and forcing them to go back to their regen, before being potted. After rebalancing the teams again, we ended up with a game around Badger Base; each team, with infinite regens, had to ensure that they had a player or players in the dugout at the end of the game, In the first iteration, we played from my favourite end and I had great fun taking out enemy players; however, they held the dugout at the end. This was then turned around, with one of our players diving into the dugout just before the whistle went. As in the morning, all the afternoon games were played without returning to the safe zone. Overall, it was a rather good, well organised day of airsoft. There were a few niggles about hit taking involving a handful of players, which got a bit salty at one point, but this was handled well by the marshals. Guns used: Morning: CYMA MPiKM Afternoon: Golden Eagle AMD 65 ASG Commander XP18 (CO2)

  9. Unless you've got a higher-end set of calipers coming then you might not get an accurate reading. I went through a few from Β£5 to Β£25 in the end had to spend Β£150 on a decent set. I highly doubt any brand would want to go bigger than 5.95mm. My guess is they aim lower for better fitment. Most BB's I measured this past couple of months were 0.01mm lower than stated. Some brands do state +/- 0.01mm. Heard tolerance is a bitch with injection molding. In regards to your high FPS did you change anything else?

  10. Tell me you don't understand basic physics without saying you don't understand basic physics, 1.14 joules is 1.14 joules, no matter if the bb is propelled by a motor driven piston, gas or farting down a straw. If you don't like hpa then just say so instead of making shit up

  11. the hwat? it's not magical air, it's all air. I'd take 'not trusting HPA users' as a more serious answer. Site owners/staff not understanding basic air musket function is a bit of a red flag if I'm honest. Though, at the end of the day it's shouldn't be much of an issue for a HPA user, it's just a weird choice.

  12. Honestly I'm shocked this situation has happened/is happening they way it is, just fucking awful there's no other way to put it. I presume there's some sort of explanation, that's my hope anyway really trying to be generous; but simply not giving out any info (would take 5 minutes to write a post) is absolutely diabolical.

  21. The other day I used some bio bbs for the first time and they almost made my AEG too hot for the site; chrono was 348 on Vorsk 0.2 bio new and sealed in bottle. I was gob smacked as my M4 junker has never been hirer than 305, so with a jump in fps over 40 and easily another 15ft added in range I am very curious why? I should add that I shared the ammo and their guns fps shot up to. Even though it says 5.95 on the bag, I have a feeling they’re bigger maybe 5.97 or even 5.98. Vernier callipers are on route to me to check what’s left of the bottle but until then, does anyone have any other ideas why the massive increase in performance and does anyone know a brand that sells bbs bigger than 5.96 on purpose ?

  30. Definitely. I've certainly noticed it helps my mental health to get a game in regularly I know Garand Thumb did a video on using airsoft for training but I didn't know Demolition Ranch had done one too. Unfortunately from what I've seen many of the real steel youtubers seem to have a massive chip on their shoulders when it comes to airsoft, which really makes no sense to me as I'd bet a significant amount of their viewers play

  33. Just wanted to provide an update... I spoke with the retailer, and they requested the Just-Cos Cosplayer Insurance certificate along with a photo of me participating in an airsoft event. After reviewing these, they were satisfied, proceeded with processing my order, and confirmed that it will be delivered on Monday. For the casual players who may not have the opportunity to attend events regularly. It presents an alternative path to legally acquire a RIF from a UK-based retailer.

  35. My Aldi digi callipers have served me for years. However, if I REALLY needed to measure something, I'd use a micrometer and make sure that I'd tested it with a gauge block recently. I have known really crap cheapo rubbish BBs to exceed size tolerance, but I doubt you'd want to use them, Bulldog and similar.

  36. There’s got to be something said about (legally) shooting someone (while playing Airsoft) as being good for your wellbeing. Lost count of the times I wished I had my pistol in my desk!! πŸ˜‚ Wish I had enough space somewhere for a range, would be great to have somewhere local to go and plink for a bit. 43. How do you qualify the expense being absurd? The sites aren't charities. Their overheads of BBs, maintenance for the rental guns, their eventual replenishment and the labour costs of inspecting and stocktaking have to be taken into consideration along with a profit margin. It's really easy to belittle operating costs when you deviate from "try(ing) to remain neutral" and show an agenda against the current system. Let's not push a false narrative that 2 months of having a UKARA defence is waiting to be approved is the norm. I had a provisional UKARA number the day I became a member of the site I played at to apply for becoming registered with UKARA BUT my defence didn't become active until a couple of days after I was signed off after playing my third game in just over 2 months and the site, after which the owner sent off an email to UKARA confirming I had satisfied the requirements. That defence was active for 12 months from the day I received by email from UKARA, not from when I played my first game. The only expense I have to incur to renew my UKARA registration is to continue my membership at the site for another year - that is much less expensive than monthly gym memberships, a few packs of cigarettes or a week's worth of overpriced custom Starbucks coffees. Imparting misinformation as fact is less than conducive to discourse in good faith, especially when you "try to remain neutral".

  44. My take, these days Airsoft is only as expensive as you let it be, every bit of the highest quality kit has a budget equivalent, same for the guns (aeg's), obviously gas kits a bit different, but there's no reason someone can't be game ready for as little as Β£250, maybe less if you punt around the s/h classifieds. Same goes for green fees, a days fun for as little as Β£25 if you've got your own kit, very few other sporting pastimes compare to it, even renting a squash court for an hour is about Β£15. Paying a bit more for rental kit to give you the ability to qualify for ukara is a relatively small price to pay if your planning to stick with it.

  45. And watch as airsoft gets banned and the "lefties" win. This is the great dilemma that airsoft faces; basing advertising on the elements that make it great fun is likely to bring those elements into the wider public consciousness, which will almost certainly increase the probability of it being banned. I am centre-left politically; if the political spectrum was my feet, I would be roughly where my left hallux is or, on some topics, where my left second toe is. However, in the world of airsoft, I am clearly far to the left of most players that I meet. However, I do know a few "leftie" players, so we are not all the enemy that you imagine us to be or have been persuaded to believe we are.
