  1. If you want people to help you, it is usually a good idea to be pleasant to them. People tend not to help those who behave like a cunt. Even if you weren't behaving like a cunt, you are pushing it if you expect people who care about airsoft to provide you with a way of getting around the rules that restrict purchase of a RIF.

  2. A great day yesterday at Dog Tag. I took a whole load of rentals there in the morning - who seemed to have a good laugh despite the rental G36's having pretty dodgy performance (the site really does favour guns that can land hits at long range, and the effective range of the rental guns seemed pretty poor to be honest). We played a few fields that I hadn't played on before (the last time I visited the site was a good few years ago now) - possibly due to the waterlogging issues that @Impulse mentioned in his post earlier. During the morning fall back games (attackers have unlimited spawns, defenders only get one life per field and have to fall back to the next once taken out) once again some confusion over people shooting across boundaries from the subsequent fields that weren't yet in play occurred - both the field boundary marking, and the briefing/direction that marshals gave could possibly have been improved upon. No major issue though, and hit taking was good from what I saw. The rental masks that the site issued out to my companions incorporated mesh for the goggle section - which, despite some peoples misgivings, I think makes a lot of sense for a rental. The likelihood of a BB shattering on mesh, and fragments penetrating with enough retained velocity to do harm would seem an awful lot lower than the likelihood of a frustrated kid lifting his rental mask mid game to wipe the fogging out. In the afternoon, the numbers dropped right down to mainly regulars (plus me!) and no rentals at all - 11 per side. And, along with the sun being out for the first time in forever, it was one of the most enjoyable aisofting sessions I've had in a very long time. Game play was great, the games active, and people were talkative and sociable - exactly how airsofting should be. And the old faithful Krytac that I ran post lunch was giving me more BB's on target than the SR25 that was providing my arms a workout in the morning.

  3. Spot on! I vote we nominate someone on the forum to act as spokesperson for the Airsofters' Alliance and ask them to put out authoritative press statements until they're accepted as a lazily sourced supplier of info for time pressed journos. We'll read through the UK Law threads and select Rogerborg someone.

  5. I sympathise with the need for a system of defense such as UKARA, but to be fair to the OP, my son's situation would mean that if he were 18, it would be incredibly difficult for him to maintain a UKARA defense, and once I leave the UK, it will be the same for me. We'll only be back for a month or two at a time with lots of family visiting responsibilities to fit into a limited budget when it comes to car hire, fees, ammo, and possibly having to rent an air BnB for the duration. Hence, as discussed in other threads, I maintain an album of site generated pictures of me and him participating in the hobby to help us form a defence of our own should we ever be pulled over by the fuzz with a car full of RIFs. Which I know doesn't help with retailers... but then this is the reason for this thread I suppose. Mind you the OP didn't do himself any favours by not at least trying to explain the situation. Just playing devil's advocate.

  8. The UK has never had a massive gun culture, There is a limited number of people who want to play, it's an expensive hobby, which is made more difficult if you don't have access to private transport. Land is at a premium in UK so any site is under constant threat of redevelopment. Also Airsoft is not particularly profitable despite what people think site owners aren't snorting coke off hookers for most this is a part time gig that barely pays for it self and even if they wanted to make their sites more profitable building regs and business rates make that none viable. Airsoft is a twilight industry in the UK and with things the way they are most site owners are just trying to stay a float let alone expand.

  9. It's a difficult one, changes in society haven't helped. For example, 40 years ago every youngster & his mates chased each other around with realistic looking toys & no one on the street gave them a second look, the miltary was treble it's size, & there was literally a waiting list of people wanting to join up, in London almost every borough had a ta Hall, cadet units representing all 3 services (+ plus the marines), surplus stores aplenty, & very little gun crime, essentially lots of things to nurture interests in shooting pastimes & there was no stigma applied to anyone remotely interested in anything "gun shaped". Fast forward, sprogs in nurseries & primary schools are forbidden from even fashioning a pistol from lego, the army is tiny & can't fill it's ranks, a massive proportion of the ta & cadet units have disappeared, a small number of terrible gun sprees have massively impacted all forms of gun ownership, coupled with commonplace gun crime. All of this has changed UK societies mindset on guns & associated pastimes. Needless to say those of us that are hooked have an uphill battle to encourage others to consider joining our ranks, or even turning out once for a "taster" ?

  10. How about we talk about inventing a ruleset for new airsoft sport (Neosoft?): 1. A presentable version of airsoft that highlights sportsmanship and benefits of being the safest gun sport available 2. Long term goal to becoming an international sport federation recognised by IOC so we can have gunfighting Olympics

  11. I’ve heard read that so often on social media now that it must be true …. While that might have been how they started I think they now improving on existing ideas. They haven’t come out with some groundbreaking new stuff but I think they are doing incremental improvements. I don’t have much from Novritch but the stuff I have is well thought through (e.g. dump pouch or magazine pouches) or of good quality (I’ve mainly got Camo stuff from them, e.g. rifle wrap, leaves, raffia and burlap). I’ve got one of the WoSporT Target on order from AliExpress and will report back. If I like it I will order a couple more initially so that random mode makes sense. Overall you can have 32 targets

CQBR? Good choice. CQBRs don't have to be tacticool modern either Also, adding a carry handle is a LOT easier. Changing outer barrels on the MWS is a faff

  16. A good reminder is that if you find things on TWG that aren't on PB's website for whatever reason, they can special order them for you if you go through the email process ([email protected]), was how I got the DE UTR-45 specific 8fields pouches for my setup. TWG can also get you certain weird parts that you can't find anywhere for certain manufacturers (in my case, a replacement mag paddle release spring for my Double Eagle UTR-45) although it was a quite the battle (23 emails) it ended up coming through on the end. And they might have forgotten to charge me the 4 euro or whatever they wanted for them. Oopsie doodles!

  18. Hi, I am thinking of setting up a small Airsoft shooting range in the loft and was looking for bluetooth targets that can give you timing and pop up randomly. I can see that there are basically 2 options, the Eshooter Serenity 2 (£59 on PatrolBase) or the WoSporT Target (you can get it from around £45 from AliExpress - a few sites are selling it in the UK but only in a set with 3 targets + tracer + control unit for about £190). Both have phone apps to control them. Given that the WoSporT is £15 cheaper than the Serenity 2 I am tempting to go with that one (you can have up to 32 targets but I am only aiming for 3 at the moment). Has anyone used one of these? Can you have random start times? Btw. There is now a Novritch bluetooth target as well but that can only give you timing, it doesn’t pop up randomly and costs in the same range as the serenity one.

  21. Why the heck not, it is not milsim, it is not speedsoft, I guess in principle any clothing/equipments 1. should not impede hit detection and 2. should also be safe, so a suit might be appropriate, while a plate carrier is not because of excessive padding So there might be a "Goldilocks zone" of a clothing regime that is balanced between feedback (feeling hits) and safety (protection from welts), perhaps we will need experiments, we need a list of example clothing that you can reliably feel a hit through it but not get a bruise from it... we need some volunteers, some basic testing protocols, and some pen and paper... and a fashion designer to collaborate with PS In fact, we need to first decide the joule levels that is legal in most countries so we can have a realistic prospect of going international

  25. In order to have influence, I suspect you need one of two things: either a large base of active members, or an irrelevantly sized base with connections to the industry. For example, I participate on several other airsoft forums that don’t have a large amount of active members. However, we have a few folks who are connected in one way or another to the industry. One of the admins for the chief American airsoft forum is a distributor for MOS (E&L and Arcturus). On the AirsoftSniper forums there are several members who design, produce, and sell custom upgrade parts and even complete custom projects.

Thanks impulse. I think.im going to go for the cqbr version as I think adding the carry handle will be less of a faf than changing the barrel. If I have to have the longer aesthetic then an extention will suffice I think.

  28. Me and a friend went halves on a second-hand Co2 converted Galaxy M82 barrett a while ago and didn't have a chrono at the time as we were pretty new to the sport - imagine our suprise when it decided to shoot 3.6J on the first shot when we borrowed a chrono to test it at our site's range lmao - it calmed down after around 15 or so shots to normal "bolt-action" power which made it quite a pain in the ass to field which is why it sits in a bag in a cupboard somewhere ? - it was still such a good deal that we're not upset about it lol

  29. And theres the difference between you and I. I do care about people actively undermining the defense that keeps our hobby viable. You apparently don't give a fuck...... And for what its worth in this thread you've pretty much proved that "if I have to explain this, you still won't understand".
    1 point
  30. Nope, thats pretty much what happened dude. Trust me some of the people commenting on this have been playing for over a decade and paying attention to the legalities. 3 games in no LESS than 56 days Is all you need for UKARA.......
    1 point
  31. This! UKARA was created in order to demonstrate that the industry had a means of ensuring that RIFs were only being sold to people who intended to use them for airsoft. It may be imperfect, but it was a key element in ensuring that we would not have to play with brightly coloured IFs. Salty little bugger, aren't you?
    1 point
  32. To me the sportsman association defence is also dodgy as fuck as you just pay your money without having to ever attend an airsoft site. To me both these defences are a big middle finger to those who put in the hard work lobbying for the defence we have and potentially could put the hobby at risk.

  33. A Flyee industries plate carrier and more pouches than I need for an absolute bargain.
    1 point
  34. This. Just-cos is a load of bullshit made up by a certain shop as a get around to sell rifs to anyone. As for the insurance it offers, anyone who needs it shouldn't have access to rifs as its insurance against being a dumbarse and doing things you shouldn't be doing.

    AK2M4 / XT Brushless Motors

Just tested the RPM of the test Brushless motor, 11.1v Turnigy 15-25C (Battery around 85% full charge) Fast = 34K Slow = 30K Only 12% difference give or take with a 11.1v 7.4v Turnigy 15-25C (Battery around 85% full charge) Fast = 20.5K Slow = 19K Hardly any difference. Full stats coming Monday fingers crossed. I also got some Perun's in stock so I'll be able to run some full tests with one of those.

  41. I've spent years with pressure groups, political parties etc. Organisation works better than numbers every time. Ever heard of the Taxpayers Alliance? It's 'Britain's non-political grassroots voice of the taxpayer.' It's actually two disgruntled ex-members of one party who seem to get prime press coverage whenever they damn well like. Alternatively, try and get on the executive of Just Stop Oil or Femen...

  45. That was something I was curious about, if that email address actually worked. There's a bunch of 8fields stuff on TG and a load of midcaps for various guns I have that would be nice to get at some point, but I never put much stock in the whole "email patrol base to get it in for you" after I did the same for a bunch of m700 parts from airsoftzone.com (who also name Patrol Base as a UK retailer who can get stuff from them) and Patrol Base told me "no we can't order anything in, sorry."
