I know I bring this one out whenever one of these threads appears but… Based on a real gun, if you stormed Omaha beach without dying, in 10 minutes and with 20 kills back in 1944 you’d be able to equipment this chrome and carbon monstrosity when you next saw your quartermaster. Built to try and tempt the wife into playing, she had said she wanted something that looked like it was from Borderlands. She ended up refusing to play and this got sold on…. King Arms Chrome receiver set and hydro dipped furniture. The icing on the upsetty-spaghetti for a real purist is that I cut the ears off the rear sight and drilled it to be a mounting fixture for the mini red dot3 points -
Got the vfc mp5 flashlight handguard mounted on the A4. had to do a tiny bit of dremel work for the back tab that goes into the upper receiver. The part of the outer barrel under the cocking tube (where there’s a Phillips screw) comes into contact with the top of the tab so I sanded it down some. the holes for the retaining pin is oblong. The stock pin will still stay in place but I opted to use the handguard pin that came with my Magpul SL mp5 handguard as the flashlight handguard won’t need to come off anyway. Figured this way, the pin (which has a screw threading into it) locks the handguard into place.3 points

Operation Scorpio Event? - New Event near Gloucester?
Tactical Pith Helmet and one other reacted to Shamal for a topic
I think that Airsoft is a game played for fun and enjoyment. By offering a monetary prize those reasons go out of the window and it becomes a competition which some players will be desperate to win at any costs. We have all seen instances of "I hit you mate","no you didn't mate". Can you imagine how this sort of scenario would be escalated if I large prize payout was at stake. Competition is ok in the case of putting your skills to the test in a static comp by hitting targets and trying to beat the best time and accuracy of other players and the winner gets the shiny new gun. I think I would be keeping a good distance from this event.2 points -

Operation Scorpio Event? - New Event near Gloucester?
Project Zodiac reacted to Tuton for a topic
Hello All, first discussion post though I've visited the forums pretty much daily for the past few years. My usual group have decided that we're most likely not attending our usual "large airsoft gathering" that takes place each year, and have been looking at alternatives. We've found one, linked below, titled Operation Scorpio taking place in early May. From what we can gather there's 2 elements, gameplay wise, a tournament which we're not too fussed about, as well as an ongoing scenario across 5 days of airsoft. Definitely doesn't appear to be a Milsim event, but as a large ongoing scenario type event, it sounds interesting. https://www.operation-scorpio.net/ The issue is this appears to have not been run before from what I've found, which raises some concerns around it. I wanted to reach out here to see if anyone's in the know about this event, or even involved of it's setup and management. It's quite hard to judge the scale of it with some of the information on the above site, so any information would be appreciated. Also eager to hear what people think about it in general. tl;dr - New Airsoft Event this year near Gloucester, does anyone know anything about it? PS - I've had a search for the keywords in the forums and not found anything so far!1 point -

@Jedi_Master & @proffrink I have been playing whack-a-mole with the spammers for the last couple of days. I've nuked loads, I'm sure the other spam moderators have done the same. Can we lock the ability for new users to create new threads without approval from admin/spam moderator? So they create a new thread - but a admin/spam mod has to approve that thread to show to the wider masses? We would be able to tell pretty quicky if these are legit users, and the 'probationary' period will end if we are satisfied that what they post is appropriate to the forum.1 point

Apparently a second hand gun, that costs £495 new, rockets in value to £700 when you add a new hop, spring & a service. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't a hop & spring an integral part of any aeg, without either it would be boneyard. Yep, servicing costs money but not essential to sell an aeg, unless of course it was faulty & needed the attention ?. Seller also states it's discontinued, while technically correct, 20 seconds on Google found a UK retailer with them in stock for £495, so I'm still trying to figure out why a secondhand gun, that shouldn't be worth more than £350, £400 at best, is apparently worth £700 ? 🤔 Opinions please, anyone else got a valuation ?1 point

oh it could be the hop, if you increased the hop, the FPS will drop, because more force is being applied to spinning the BB if you touched the hop any amount at all, it can affect the FPS a little bit it cannot be battery, battery does not really affect FPS1 point -

ANA M2 plate carrier I have seen go between £150-£170 not including PayPal fees or postage. Current conflict you maybe able to ask for more, depends if it flavour of the month for Russian kit collectors. As for the other pouches, techkinkom pouch looks like a grenade pouch for Russian molle based kit so I say about a £10, Not sure what the sso/sposn pouch is so can't say a price and for the SRV look like mag pouch £15-£20 not including PayPal fees or postage.1 point

ParHunter reacted to The_Lord_Poncho for a topic
There was a batch of the old British assault boots where the soles suddenly self destructed without warning and crumbled almost overnight. People on patrol with field dressings wrapped around their boot to retain what was left of the sole was an amusingly common sight, kind of turned the boot into some kind of medieval fabric footwear.1 point -

Hi All, I am the Project Lead for this event, Craig. I have messaged the admin here to make sure I can reply in plenty of detail without breaching any rules (I don't want to be seen to be promoting Op Scorpio in this thread). You have all raised some familiar points that I am keen to address, and will do as soon as I have heard back from Admin. I can assure you this is a very real event, ran in a very different way to a traditional airsoft event. We promise to be 100% transparent with you all and will, in full detail address every point made to give complete clarity. In the meantime the contact number on the website will come straight through to me if you would like to call through and discuss further (I won't post the link without admin permission, but the number is on the contact page). This is the first known thread we have discovered about our event and I am grateful for the feedback. I will be having edits made to the website to reflect your points. Until then I would urge you to re look at prize fund distribution, and any of our sponsors would happily take your call to confirm their involvement I am sure. Until my next post, enjoy your weekends, if it wasn't for threads like this we would not be able to build these events into what they are. Craig Op Scorpio Project Lead Director Project Zodiac Limited Massive thanks to Tuton for starting this thread, hope we get a good welcome ourselves 😉1 point -

OMFG Grenade - which .209 primers?
RostokMcSpoons reacted to strykerles for a topic
I did a little digging on this before when i got 2 quake 8s In my quake 8 it's more about the grenade I think. I loaded one with 616 and one with 615 and when the grenade landed upright I noticed no difference landing on it's side the grenade can be erratic with either. thrown with a bit more force on it's side it still went off 90% of the time I think the 615 might have gone off a few more times but can't really remember as it was a couple of years ago I tend to use 615s now so i think that was my conclusion 🤣1 point -

Rogerborg reacted to Pseudotectonic for a topic
I agree, the wording is vague, "completed" could mean many things, e.g. if all the product information is uploaded, so the advert is "completed" and no further editing is expected if the duration of the listing has expired, therefore the listing duration is "completed", but the item may be unsold and there could be a new listing with the same item if the product is unsold, but the seller withdraw the advert, marking the listing as "completed" While "sold" cannot be interpreted any other way therefore a better alternative1 point -

Sounds very similar to conversations I just had with another new member Bumblebee. Polite guy, but contacted me about my wanted post, offered a Sten Mk 5, sent pictures and then a video but it was a Mk 2, bit like what happened with rsvpiper above. Lives in Manchester apparently, but told another member he lives in Edinburgh. 🤔1 point -
Been recently having a play around and checking out the internals of the new Cyma platinum SLR AKs. A couple of things stand out to me. The new hop unit (Yes the one with inbuilt tracer...) has had a lot of thought put into it. Tracers are not my thing however you can easily turn it off with a flick of a switch. The one thing however that I really like about it is that they have fixed the issue where the hop setting self adjusts. Usually this is done by an O-ring however as some as you know it is not always the most reliable. What CYMA have done with this unit is under the adjustment slider they have added a little hole where a spring sits with a plastic tip (Like the ones you get under M4 selectors to give the *click*). They have then serrated the the underneath of the adjustment slider. This means you can do tiny clicks of movement easily and it also sits nice and rigid. The gearbox is a DYTAC gearbox which I believe CYMA are the OEM of so it should be nice and strong. It has the typical platinum internals with it being 13:1, mosfet and the cyma blue compression parts. One thing I have noticed is that I believe the shop where it is purchased it from has put in a different motor from stock. Usually CYMA platinum motors have a cyma logo on the side where as this one has a white stick label on on it that says 'To go into CYMA blue' or something alone the lines. It seems like putting in a m120 with the 13:1 it doesn't like it 100% so will be putting in a ZCI 22 in. Overall quite impressed with it all. There needs to be a slight modification to the piston which I might update this post with once done. Also might put in a different mosfet if this one fails (Ideally a perun hybrid v3 but I'm not great at soldering).1 point

Agree, I've banned dozens the over the last week, who knew there were so many witch doctors out there🤣. Definitely need something new, spammer signs up & 10 minutes later they've created about 15 absurd threads, it will drive genuine members away if they can't be arsed to trawl through the crap to find the Airsoft stuff. Great.....not, to make matters worse they look underage, someone randomly passes through & sees that they'll think it's a nonce forum😬1 point
