  4. New pistol courtesy of @TheFull9 because 1911s are my kryptonite. Cycles beautifully and in my room easily gets through an entire mag on a single fill. I have swapped out the hop unit and barrel assembly for the setup that was in my other 1911 that hates cycling (ML hop unit with a nineball barrel and ML 50 degree autobot rubber and ML I-key) and will give it a run this weekend. If it runs well, I'll be running it more often because very few people run 1911s and they're incredibly beautiful pistols! Some things never change. My first loadout was an m14 and 1911 because I watched Black Hawk Down as a teenager and thought that one scene was amazing. Still running m14s (I own 2 and want to get a 3rd) and will still run 1911s

For god's sake child - I told you last night.... I don't mind you having it - it's your mother you need to convince. You should probably sell the MB01 and M16 to placate her a bit - plus you haven't used them really since you got the A1. Be diplomatic... I don't want to get an earful next time I call LOL - I gotta figure out how to get the apartment WiFI upgraded remotely too. Yay me. Anyway - interesting thought this thread is for us - I'm not sure there's a question here for the forum to answer - we're all oversized children playing with expensive toys - you know what everyone will say you plumb. Have you asked that girl out properly yet? ?

  18. Ha! Tactical carbine! That was my brothers first gun about 20 years ago as you say. It's a nice gun but a 20 year old armalite is not especially valuable as things have moved on. The receiver will still have the two little pins in the top to keep it aligned and such. Around £120ish The MP5 though, if that's the B&T model with the hop behind the ejection port... That might be quite desirable. About £150ish That old claw mount on it is desirable as well, especially with LCT and VFC making vintage H&K rifs. You'd probably get £40 for the mount. nice rifs but not especially valuable

  29. I believe the standard forum response to "do I need more pews?" is a resounding "yes, of course you do", you've even made it easy by suggesting you need it as a backup and everyone knows it's only sensible to have a backup and even backups need a backup sometimes. Surely the way out of this is for @son of dan to 'sell' the pews to @Dan Robinson - it's up to you whether you reveal the purchasers identity.

  30. That'll be Eric the dog at Rift. There's a lot of love for him (marshals and players) and heaven forbid anyone that points a pew at him, fire at him and I'd fully expect your body to never be found and everyone to deny you were ever there. Having played there he's a fantastically well behaved cocker and while he may be in the gamezone he's always out of the way, in fact I've never seen him once a game's started. His owner's a great bloke too (typical that I can remember the dog's name but not his!) and he'd certainly not want his dog to come to any harm. Most of us pamper our pets, but it's a gun dog and if it was really working then it'd be in loads more danger. I'm more than fine with Eric the marshal. Rift's a great site too so if you're avoiding it because of Eric then it's your loss because you're missing out on some great game days and you don't get to meet Eric and the rest of the (human) marshals. I wish my cocker was as well behaved.

  31. Got my hands on one today…feels a bit “limp” compared to the marui counterpart. Charging handle has a lot of play, everything is bone dry, the springs are twanging like mad, stock / grip are nasty cheap. BUT, the externals are lovely, markings are nice and deep, tiny bit of fettling I think these are a steal. Mag is surprisingly ok, fills fine and will clear 2 runs on semi. GM mags work much better (obviously). The only concern I have, the nozzle seal is a bit shit so we’ll see how that beds in over a few 100 rounds.

  38. It's fucking stupid of the marshal to do it and the site owner to even allow it. We play knowing we're going to get shot and staff understand the risks when entering the field, but the dog doesn't. Simply put the owner is a massive cockwomble (to put it mildly)and shouldn't be allowed to own pets. There's also the fact that if the worst does happen and the dog gets hit, nobody knows how it will react. It could easily think it's being attacked and go for a player who might not even be the person who fired the shot. Quite simply it shouldn't be happening and I for one would avoid any site which does allow it

Which is exactly what the UK Scout Assn has done - so yes! Or, this forum could buy a 'crowd funded' licence to be used by all of its members. But, I completely agree - stick to allocated or PMR frequencies, and from a practical perspective, nothing will happen.

"the Licensee and any person authorised to act on the Licensee’s behalf" On the face of it, it's vague enough that (just for example) UKAPU could buy a licence and authorise any airsofter to use it. Which would be hugely cheeky, but I doubt that there's any proactive enforcement going on. As long as you're sticking to the allocated frequencies (or PMR frequencies), is anybody ever going to know or care?

New MWS build. I've been startingly original and daring in building another URG-I, but in long boi flavour, to join its schtumpig sibling (points if you get the film reference there!) Mostly HAO and Magpul externals, with a couple of BavTac bits inside; Zet plate, nozzle spring and hop nub. I've put a waaaaay too long description of the parts and the build experience in the MWS thread because clearly I had too much time on my hands when I was on leave.

  43. Tokyo Marui MWS SOCOM URG-I Build Having started purchasing parts in February, having had some time off last week, I finally got round to building her. Parts list: · Tokyo Marui MWS M4A1 Carbine base · HAO Mk16 13.5” handguard · HAO SOCOM Daniel Defense 14.5” outer barrel · HAO Surefire 4-prong flash hider · HAO Geiselle low profile gas block · HAO Geiselle Ultra Precision trigger guard · HAO Geiselle Super Precision 1.93” scope mount · HAO SF 556 SOCOM suppressor (hardcore version) · Angry Gun Geiselle Airborne Charging Handle · Magpul K2+ grip · Magpul M-LOK hand stop · Magpul SL Stock · Magpul BAD lever · BavTac Magic Hop Nub · Bavtac Titanium Zet Plate · BavTac 140% nozzle return spring · Vortex Crossfire II 1-4x 24 scope · WADSN metal NGAL · Element Surefire M600C Scout light · Blue Force Gear padded VCAS (Olive Drab) · Blue Force Gear QD sling swivel x2 The build took a bit longer than I anticipated for a couple of reasons, mainly removing the trigger box to install the BavTac Zet plate. What an absolute bastard to remove and it took an age. In the process I also managed to dislodge one of the sear springs, so I had to open the trigger box to re-seat it. Fitting the HAO rail was more troublesome than I remember when I installed the 9.3” version. Getting one of the bolts to slide through the groove on the barrel nut wasn’t as slick this time. The rest of the externals were fine, standfast the trigger guard, which needed material removing to fir properly. This was slightly annoying/disappointing as HAO are usually ninjas with their products. Anyway, a few minutes filing got it fitted nice and flush. Apart from the Zet plate, hop nub and nozzle return spring, the gun has stock internals. Out of the box, on ASG Ultrair, the gun was pinging .28s out to 60m at around 1.1j, with the effective range being around 50-55m. Range and power-wise, it’s still in the same ballpark as out of the box, with the GM Pmags giving a 5-8 fps increase, adding barely noticeable increase to the power output. Using heavier ammo though, wow! Using .32s it was getting to the 70m mark with loads of adjustment left on the hop. However, accuracy was all over the place, with BBs pinging every which way with no consistency. Tearing the front end down again, the hop rubber and hop chamber were covered in silicon oil. Rookie mistake! Hoping that’s solved it because when they flew straight it was awesome. So, what’s good and what’s bad about the latest addition to my arsenal? The good; well, it’s an MWS! It works and works and works. The BavTac Zet plate is awesome, with the bolt catching every time, even with the Guns Modify Pmags, and the MHN is a serious contender for the SixG brass nub. The finished gun, although fairly commonplace, also looks incredible IMHO. The bad? Apart from the hop/silicon debacle, not much more than the suppressor really. I made a huge mistake getting the hardcore version. It’s beautifully finished and the QD system is great, compared with the Angry Gun version I have. It’s just too damned heavy though at 525g. I really should have bought the standard version. How I’ll feel lugging this around an airsoft field tomorrow I don’t know, but I’m chuffed with the result! URGI Build.mp4

  44. Standard V2 AEG M4A1 (ideally properly Colt marked) from a high quality brand/in high end form. I know I know big yawn, but we seem to have hit a point of having a million different ARs on the market yet the most basic type is comparatively unusual to find at this point.

  45. Most gats will lift 0.28s with the simple addition of a replacement hop rubber (typically Maple Leaf), and a replacement nub (typically an Omega). My DE with those lifts 0.32s and pushed them out to nice ranges (over 50m)

  46. Without wishing to be That Guy, I'd actively recommend against VFCs as while people demonstrably do get examples that (almost) work, they're notorious for needing work done on them. At that asking price, it's not a gamble I'd be willing to take when Double Eagles M9XX or Specna Arms Edge 2 guns offer more features, including quick-change springs and an actual fire control systems, right out of the box, for a lot less. I can't speak to Arcturus, but I'd highlight that the recommended model above doesn't appear to be available from (e.g.) PatrolBase in the UK, and that brands can produce a wide range of quality, so it's not a blanket recommendation. What I would stress is that airsoft QC is all over the place and you can get peaches and lemons within the same batch, let alone the same platform or manufacturer, so it's always a bit of a gamble. I never play up without a backup gun (or two, or three) in the car, so you might want to consider the £2xx DE/Edge 2 option, plus a magazine-compatible cheaper backup / loaner (Specna, Lancer Tactical, G36C with an M4 magwell adapter or similar) instead.

  47. I would recommend the newer Arcturus lines. They’re coming out with newer models that feature a collaboration with GATE, but right now the C.A.T. Series and ME series feature extremely solid gearboxes paired with great barrel groups. The externals are good quality, no creaking or cracking, but the star of the show are the reliable, simplistic, and extremely well performing internals. I’m a tech, and very familiar with these, so here’s my more detailed opinions and notes: (I’m long-winded, so there’ll be a TL:DR at the end. Feel free to skip.) The gearbox is the same on all the models from 170 to 400, but the externals go up in quality. The externals are easy to judge for yourself, so here’s my take on the internals. The compression set is 100% good. Steel cylinder, CNC POM nozzle, and cylinder head with great seal. The piston is bulletproof. It’s much tougher than almost all aftermarket pistons. I and another tech both use the stock pistons in DSGs doing 55+ RPS. The gearset is ordinary, but solid. I use the stock gears in upgraded builds doing higher FPS and faster RPS. The trigger unit is a microswitch paired with an inline 3034 MOSFET. This means you have 1,000,000 cycles with no issues, according to manufacturer specs, as well as a tactile “click” to the trigger. The design of the gearbox here does make it very difficult to install any aftermarket trigger units if you ever wanted to, so keep that in mind. Arcturus has a steel QC spring guide that can be accessed just by removing the stock. The motor is a mid-level neo motor that does about 30K, which means you’re hitting 20 RPS on 11.1v (M120 version, faster for the weaker versions) with great response. Don’t expect it to pull any M170s, but it’ll get the job done, and I’ve used them in tougher builds as well doing 25+. The spring is Japanese tempered steel, and is of excellent quality. I tested four of these springs from an Arcturus rep, and got the exact same FPS from each, as well as ~1-2 FPS variance. No change over time, between a heavily used spring and ones right out of the packaging. The gearbox is solid. Nothing special, except for the split GB shell on the CAT models, but it’s strong and easy to work on if anything should happen. Arcturus uses 8mm bushings for spur and sector, and 8mm bearings on the bevel. The barrel group is very, very good out of the box. The hop unit is an ordinary plastic rotary, which works well. The hop rubber is a split design similar to those that Krytac uses. It does the job out to about 60 meters, but you may need an upgrade for farther distances. The barrel is where it stands out, as Arcturus features a 6.02mm steel QPC coated barrel, which is excellent. It’s much better than ZCI and a lot of “upgraded” barrels. They also come wired to deans with a high quality plug. Cons: The only real con is that you’re prohibited from using any aftermarket electronic trigger units, and doesn’t feature an ETU built in. It’s a matter of preference whether you like your RIFs with computers built in, but Arcturus not allowing you an option (yet) is a con for sure. TL:DR, the internals are great, super simple, and will allow you to keep up with players running far more expensive RIFs.
