    Fake WE gas

So WE, a company which made it's name in airsoft by cloning other guns, is getting upset that someone's copying their product. Didn't Alanis Morissette sing about this in the 90's?

  2. a site can have all the clear signage, shouty marshalls and mandatory things you stick on the end of it. the question is: do we trust the average airsofter to do it? the answer?

  3. Yup, I'll now rant the other way about having a not-safe-not-game zone. The delineation should be absolutely clear to everyone, including and especially first timers. I'm baffled by why so many sites seem to make such an absolute hash of the basics.

  4. @Cannonfodder Nope, 🤣 🤣 just taking the piss on that whole youtube genre. I actually hate how they represent the hobby, and i was looking for some youtube tutorials and as soon as you type airsoft in the search bar, here they come !!

  5. Driver Wood too - strongly enforced, and the safe zone feels so much, well, safer as a result. One of the reasons I take mates to Driver Wood for their first experience of the game. I find it bonkers that all sites don't do it. For something so cheap (I knocked up four of them on the sewing machine for pennies, but should be free to borrow from sites with a small deposit put down), there really is no excuse. Unless people are lunatics about the sleek lines of their gats fore ends being disrupted....

Sounds like an evening in with the ex Have you tried the mid week games? Numbers are generally lower so you're not crammed in like sardines and unable to move without immediately getting shot at

  7. Even though it doesn't state it anywhere the motor getting hot in the DE M900's is the small amount of active braking it does, and the crap Chaoli motor exhibits this as the horrible heat. 31k for a motor seems a bit too fast as well? (it's only a little old DE with a Falcon where we can't tweak the amount of braking). Maybe it is time to crack the gearbox open and use a cotton bud with a tiny amount of IPA to clean the optical sensors? Also to add to this thread my son's moved from his upgraded Firehawk to his M906C permanently now. I moved his Maxx Model M4A-PRO to it and swapped to a Maple Leaf 229mm inner barrel and 60 degree MR bucking, using the Maxx solid concave nub, an M105 spring plus XT 22 TPA high torque. Played in a forest yesterday and the range on 0.32g is crazy good. @RostokMcSpoons I wish we lived a bit nearer to each other so we could have a game and be Double Eagle nerds 🤓

  9. Probably because a lot of site owners/managers would be incapable of looking after a piece of gravel. It really is quite easy, isn't it? There is the safe zone and areas where BBs might be flying (chrono/range and game zone). All of my regular sites manage this well; there is good signage and the delineation between the areas is very clear. In addition, the transitions between safe and non-safe are designed such that a random BB shot towards the safe zone gate from non-safe cannot make its way in without making at least one 90 degree turn. Which is absolutely reasonable if that is made very clear to players and there is highly visible signage.

  10. This. To quote Obi-Wan, "who's the the biggest fool, the fool or the fool who follows him?" Pretty sure you'd need to be dreaming or high to think £25 less than retail for a broken gun is a good price

    Fake WE gas

It's important to realise something about this situation . WE AIrsoft is a page ran by WETTI/ARmed force in Hong Kong and NOT WE Model. What i suspect has actually happened is that WE Airsoft are licensed to use the WE name on gas in Hong Kong and designed the graphics etc which is why no one outside HK has seen the "original" cans. Gunfire come along to WE Model and license the WE name for Europe (they are a distributor) to make their own WE gas . However they use a graphic owned by WE Airsoft/AF rather than using their own or WE Model's not realising it's the IP of AF and not WE model . WE AIrsoft /AF then get upset and claim it as "counterfeit" I find it somewhat ironic given that WETTI has always and continues to pretend to be WE Model co on social media when they are not. Both gases are probably made at puff dino or similar who make most airsoft gases ,especially ones from Taiwan You are somewhat correct , It's the same "WE" as was involved in that drama because they were upset that WE Europe (later Nuprol) cut them out and went direct to WE Model

  13. We all know why that is Sunday's trip down to Ambush started off badly as the gods of public transport were clearly in a bad mood that morning. One bus that was replacing a train was a no show and another train being 25 minutes late meant that I missed the first couple of games. Fortunately things did start to pick up and the rest of the day went well with some well fought games and no obvious cheating or people playing silly buggers. To top it off I also managed to get caught on film by the site photographer so that's always a bonus

  14. Specna has changed manufacturers around over the years, and unfortunately I’ve never had my hands on any of them. From personal experience contrasted with what I’ve heard, Novi/Krytac perform better more consistently. Are they bad gnus? That seems to depend on the model/OEM, and that I don’t know anything about. It is worth noting that Specna/Novi are quite a bit cheaper than Krytac, which ups my recommendation significantly for either. The squeak is related to the height of the bevel gear in relation to the pinion. The spur gear is pushed upwards by the upraised edges of the bearing hole, which increases bevel height, and causes the sound. This is evident even on extremely high end Krytac builds using extremely nice motors. (I’ve personally tried Tienly, ASG, ZCI, Lonex, etc, and other assorted pinions transplanted onto various motors. I was able to fix the issue by filing the lips of the bearing hole to lower the spur gear by a large amount. The issue then was that the shaft of the spur gear was too long and pressed on the gear for the dual selector, so then more dremel work. It’s not easy to replace the stock set because of classic fitment issues. The Prommy set does work, but from what I’ve heard they’re not good quality (I don’t have personal experience), The original Krytac set are extremely durable (much better than SHS). If you want to increase the speed, I would highly recommend picking up a quality 40K-35K motor, such as Tienly, the ASG Boost 30K (actually 35K), or simply ordering one from ChiHai. As far as I know, the motors are the same size as ordinary long shaft motors, but if not you can simply adjust the motor height, so the minute differences in shaft length should be irrelevant. I’m actually away from home for a while, so I can’t measure mine for you, but if you’d like I can ask around and find more info on the Prommy sets and Krytac shaft length.

Same in the plumbing, heating and white goood worlds. Gloworm boilers are the same as the Vaillant boilers (lower priced models). Many boilers are made of the same mechanical bits, with cosmetic changes and different PCB's. Many showers and taps are the same internally qulity wise because they are made in the same facoty - you end being charged for more expensive visible bits which may or may not have a higher quality finish. Siemens, Bosch, AEG, Smeg washing machine and dishwashers are pretty much identical internally.

    Back at it!

I've been out of the game for a few months with some pretty pathetic and annoying lower back issues but things are almost back to normal and I've been chomping at the bit to play. I need to go once more down at Red1 Chislehurst to finally get my grubby little mitts on a UKARA. Is anyone thinking of playing down there this Sunday? If so let me know it would be cool to say hi! After I've got that final session for the ukara out of the way I'm thinking its time to branch out and hit a few new/better sites. Slightly limited by public transport out of London but I've got my eye on Reforger (although I've heard its ghillie's galore which is a little off putting personally). I also really would love to get over to Tower Airsoft or Airsoft Plantation which I've seen so many good things about, so would be cool to head there too

I'll definitely take you up on that some time guys, thanks! I think I can get up to Arlesey pretty easily via the Thameslink or the train up to MK aye. I'll put spec ops on the to do list Cool man I'm hoping to make it down there this Sunday so we may cross paths Couldn't have put it better myself haha, that being said its good to have the option to get to a site in the week if the urge strikes. I can definitely see it being more fun with less players, both times I was there it was so busy the chokepoints were just hilariously clogged haha

  25. You probably know yourself @Colin Allen but there are playing fields very near to Red1 Chislehurst and there will often be kids playing footy on a Sunday morn, both times I've been down there marshals made a point during briefing of telling players not to shoot out into the playing fields on purpose. The fact people need to be told (and will still subsequently ignore it if they think they can get away with it) does indicate the generally pitiful state of the moral and intellectual playing field. As a relatively new player I find the 'safe' zone to feel quite unnerving most of the time and I do find myself worrying about how blasé other people are r.e safety. Making those barrel socks mandatory in the safe area seems like a no brainer. It almost seems like the sort of thing that airsofters and site owners should throw their weight behind en masse. Seems like such a simple and effective solution to make things safer
    1 point
  26. No, which is why sites need to deal far more robustly with the fuckwits. At one of my regular sites, part of the safety brief warns players not to shoot towards the few adjacent properties and sets out the consequences. They can only be shot towards from a very small area of the very large site and are situated such that they are not in the line of fire for any games; you have to make a conscious decision to shoot at people's homes. Just before the last game, a player started shooting towards them; a very angry site owner told him rather forcefully to leave the site. One of the things that I like about the site is that they are not afraid to throw out people who are behaving like idiots or ruining the day for other people.

Surely the whole song is satirical? Listen to the sardonic delivery of "And yeah, I really do think" [that's ironic]. And yeah, I really do think it's ironic for pretty much anyone but Toyko Marui or a few others to complain about intellectual property and knock-offs. I hear the AEG ones have a high capacity but are prone to rattling.

    What have you made?

Need to dust off my 3D printer - but my next project is a super-minimalist fixed battery stock for G&G receivers (ARP9 Etc). Designed to hold at least a 2200mAh 11.1v LiPo - some smaller 3000mAh packs should also fit. Length is around the same as stubby length M16 fixed stocks - good for the speedybois and/or smaller statures.

  37. Totally - 2 sub £200 guns will be much better than one fancy schmancy one that WILL go wrong one day leaving you with zero guns until its fixed. The extra £300 won't necessarily mean it lasts longer either. Well - that's how I've justified my ever-growing gun wall.... There's always space for one more.
    1 point
  38. You did; sadly, some do not. I had something similar happen; I plugged the battery in while the RIF was on a table in the safe zone and the mosfet failed, resulting in it going full auto. I quickly disconnected the battery and explained the situation to the site owner, who did not have the look of a very impressed chap and is not someone you would want to mess with. Once I had explained what had happened, supported by other players, he was cool about it. Sometimes, things like that happen and it is not the player's fault. On another day at the same site, a player was being a dick (thus breaking the first rule of airsoft) and let off a round in the safe zone which pinged off the wobbly tin; the owner came storming over and told him to pack his gear and leave. His mates tried to remonstrate with the owner and were told that they could also leave if they disagreed with his decision.

  39. I think I remember that incident - it was rather funny. To be fair Carlos only shouts at you once. it tends to stick in the memory. Having said that I was trying to fix the boy's Specna not that long ago and a lose wire on the mosfet meant the gun cycled when I wasn't expecting it in the safe zone. Luckily it was cleared beforehand after leaving the chrono; but the barrel was pointing directly at someone who happened to be watching, and it made both of us jump. Thankfully he saw I was nowhere near the trigger so explanations were short.... But it shows shit can happen when you least expect it.
    1 point
  40. I nearly got hit by a very close range ricochet in the safe zone at Spec Ops, an incident I mentioned a while ago. Happy to say that Carlos now shouts very loudly at anyone who dry-fires in the safe zone. But with the number of rentals fiddling with their triggers, and people on the wrong place on the good ol' Dunning-Kruger graph still thinking 'no mag = safe' then things will still go wrong and I feel better when I have some eye pro on. I have a pair of Bolle glasses which I now use for the chrono / range test, and they often stay on at other times too, if the kiddies are getting a bit hyperactive. And hey, nobody's perfect + "shit happens". Even safe, sensible people can make a mistake or slip or do something momentarily idiotic. I managed to shoot someone (out in the game zone) in the "Gentlemen's Particulars" from about a foot away because I hadn't cleared my pistol properly and managed to pull the trigger when it wasn't pointed safely. (Honestly, I was still aiming for the ground... but missed!) Poor bugger was in a lot of pain, and I'm grateful he forgave me, rather than punching me straight in the chops. I'm not saying I'm necessarily "safe and sensible", maybe I'm an idiot , but I have spent an lot of time around various firearms so I'm supposedly well trained. But that one time I messed up and I still burn with a sense of shame over it. All in all, I'd be happy to use a barrel sock in the safe zone (and indeed between the safe zone and the game area)

  41. First game with my new DE M906C (thanks @RostokMcSpoons). First impressions are great. Chrono'd bang on 300FPS on 0.25g with remarkable consistency for "a chinese gun", and suddenly I have more range than I know what to do with. Clearly my 2010s-era common knowledge on airsoft brands and QC needs a big fat update!

  45. Ok , I’ll keep It brief for now and a “first impressions” rather than a full strip down . It’s worth me noting that I do not have a TM MWS here next to me for a direct comparison but I have had a bit of time with them here and there , WE M4 platform GBBR is my main go to for my collection purely for ease of parts and selection . And Tokyo Marui for pistols .However I’m hoping to have an MWS on loan so I can perhaps do a few side by sides but no idea when then might be , likely end of the month . The box - standard issue , cardboard and foam , silica packs . Nothing about this is TM , think King Arms . It’s a box to get the gun from A-B. Although nicely printed. inside you’ll find the rifle , magazine , iron sights ( we shall get to those later ) , speed loader adapter and a baggie of words . magazine looks pretty decent , not as nice as the guns modify and I suspect these are Ace-1 arms ? RS Ranger plates do not fit , however looking around they can be had for £35-£40 ish from HK so if they hold gas and feed fine could be a cheaper way of boosting that load out . feed lips and router look pretty good , speed loader adaptor is a perfect fit to a TM loader and loads the magazines beautifully Tbc. Stock is a Magpul clone , a little wobbly on the tube nothing that couldn’t be shimmed so standard airsoft really , RS MOE-SLK fits very well and the rattle is reduced by at least 50% .(pics later ) grip is a Magpul K clone , nicely made , no branding and I will test fit a genuine one later . iron sights …. Ugh , horrible cheap plastic , wobbly , grim . A real let down . Fitted for the pictures but they will go in the bin tbh . steel flash hider is nice quick break down , upper to lower fit is excellent , no play whatsoever and the pins are lovely and snug needing a pin pusher to release Bolt and buffer assembly all seem pretty decent , a magnet over the trigger group shows alot of steel parts bolt is nice , all seems well fitted together ,although it was very dry so gave a quick wipe over with a light oil , spring is fairly soft , cocking the rifle the return is what I’d describe as lazy but this may be because it was dry and not run in . tbc.

  46. Regarding friendly fire, most sites I've been you just take the hit but on my local site you take it initially however if its then quickly established that it was friendly fire then the shooter takes the hit in your place and returns to spawn. There is an unwritten rule here where regulars shot by rentals and noobs let them off and take the hit anyway gently letting them know by saying something along the lines of, "careful mate that's a team kill but I'm going to take it for you, you crack on". It's also kind of an unwritten rule that if you've already walked 5 or so meters as a dead man before establishing it's friendly then you just crack on to spawn regardless. Works well even though it sounds messy and it encourages trigger discipline however it's a small indoor site and I'm not sure it would work so well on a big outdoor site with lots of players where the walk to respawn is lengthy.
    1 point
  47. Like is it generally frowned upon if you get too close to enemy spawn because it is spawn camping? Yes. Should you call hits if your own team shot you? Yes. Does ricochet count as hits? No. How do you execute a knife kill, and does it only count if the enemy hasn't noticed you and if you do it , or can you engage a enemy around a corner and try to land a stab as they try to shoot you or is this not allowed? Depends on the site but it's usually a light tap to the t-shirt area, with a suitable larp safe melee weapon. It counts if you manage to do it and you're not dead when you do it. Trying to stab someone with a larp weapon around a corner could be viewed as blind firing. Most larp safe knives are still "pointy" to a degree, thrusting it wildly round a corner, hoping for a melee kill is pretty dangerous. You could knock off eye pro, jab someone in the ear, who knows what? I wouldn't recommend it.
