    Are lipos worth it

*not a fact. Depends on capacity, level of remaining charge and charging rate. While LiPos can be "fast charged", it is NOT the recommended method. Charging rate should ideally match the mAh value of the battery - 1400mAh charge at 1.4A, 3000mAh charge at 3A. Fast charging is likely to shorten the life of the battery.

Where are you getting this info? The battery has nothing to do with FPS… unless you’re running too high of voltage and are getting PME. Cycling time also has nothing to do with FPS… Friction of what? I’ve measured over a dozen different brands of BBs, both weight, sphericity, and checked for air bubble consistency on the inside. Not even horrible green BBs from sporting goods stores had enough size or weight inconsistency to cause any FPS variance like this. This would require some of the BBs to be literally double the weight. For reference, even low quality BBs like Lancer Tactical have weight variances that are in the hundredths of a gram. Dirty hop unit, and dirty barrel… yes. Except it’s only happening with certain BBs, and the drops are consistent. The chrono can misread, but averaging in giant drops like this isn’t accurate. This does bring up a valuable point, though—OP, is it possible you mixed heavier BBs in with your .20gs? They would have to be really heavy, like .40g+. I realize that’s not at all likely, but it’s a possibility nonetheless.

They could even have their own dating app, but what to call it🤔, tinder's gone, so has grinder, something with er on the end🤔........ By jove I've got it, it's a toss up between Wanker or Walter 😜

Although I wouldn't be astonished if it's full of folk who were who in the Cadets for a few months and now call everyone brother.

It was a first visit for us, and since we can get to Glencoe in the same time, I think we'll be heading north again if we bother what with all the pewing and biking this year. My wife likes to return to The Old Country in summer too. We did find solitude beside the Dart though.

You have to account for a recovery time from the battery dumping a load of energy in to the winding motor, you have to account for cycling time, you have to account for friction, account for the BB's not being precision sizes, some are ever so slightly larger and smaller which affects the ability to transfer energy. There are other factors that also can affect fps, hop up, dirty barrel, lubrication and the chrono can misread which is why you take multiple readings to get the average fps.

Both the admin assistant and the website developer are, as I understand it are paid for their time from shared UKARA funds, which are directly contributed from the fee that retailers pay for access to the UKARA system. I don't believe that money is abstracted from the running of UKARA for anything other than operating expenses and it ultimately is pooled, which is understandable considering how expensive it is to engage in legal proceedings or to provide scientific evidence that can be used when discussing and countering legislation. Whilst harsh, it's definitely true. The nature of volunteering is that it's done in one's spare time, or referring back to some of our past hijinks, pulling all nighters.

  24. The gearbox is proprietary on Ares EFCS guns. There are no drop-in upgrade options. You will need to undertake modifications to the gearbox and/or fabrication of adapters to fit anything other than the stock EFCS unit. Not saying it can't be done - but it's probably not worth the hassle.

    Unpinning old threads

Talking about the Tutorial subboard specifically, but every pinned thread on the forum could probably do with some going over to see if they're really relevant, or needed, anymore. e.g. Some pinned threads in "Tutorials" are essentially just links to a long defunct website (mechbox.com - which in itself I always thought was just trying to make the word "mechbox" a thing, but that's beside the point.) Clearing out old and worth-less pinned threads can make room for our contemporaries to recreate the same content, but better and more up to date.

Thank you for the replies. I should make it clear now that I misconstrued a message sent to me. A meeting is planned for 22nd of June, but this is not the AGM.
    1 point
  27. This is what I gave sent them: Dear Sirs, As a member of UKAPU, I am deeply concerned that you have failed to abide by the latest published version of the Association's constitution, in that you have failed to give members the 28 days written notice of the 2023 AGM that is required by the Association's constitution. I understand that the AGM is due to take place at 7PM on 22nd June. I note that the latest published version of the constitution states that one purpose of the AGM is to elect the Executive Officers; the constitution states that nominations must be made to the secretary in writing at least 45 days before the date of the AGM. You have not notified members of this, making it impossible for members to nominate Executive Officers. Therefore, I am calling on you to cancel the AGM on 22nd June and rearrange for a date that will enable you to: 1. Notify members of their right to nominate Executive Officers and allow them sufficient time to do so bearing in mind the 45 day cutoff. 2. Notify members of the date, time, location (if physical) or access arrangements (if online) at least 28 days before the date of the meeting. 3. Inform members that they can raise any matter at the AGM, provided that they give the secretary at least 14 days written notice. I await your response. But UKAPU was founded in 2009 or 2010?
    1 point
  28. I would point out that it is a legal requirement to give members written notice of an AGM. Members have an absolute right to attend, raise issues, ask questions and vote. Stating that “I don’t see why they won’t be able to this year” makes it seem that they are there on sufferance. As a member of the association, I will be writing to the committee pointing out that they are in breach of their constitution and requiring them to give all members 28 days notice of the AGM.

It's taken me a while to decide whether to reply to this, and if so, what I should say. As Shamal has rightly stated, I am the East of England UKAPU representative. I initially joined as a member, but decided that I would like to further support the community as a regional representative. During my interview for the position I too expressed reservations with regard to what the union provide - as others have pointed out, the social media pages are not frequently updated and there is little 'evidence'. All representatives are volunteers, and in any case, I believe that the Press Officer position is vacant. There is often assistance offered to player-members which unfortunately goes unreported due to this. This has involved helping with customs and import of RIFs, where players experienced issues - and similarly assisted players in Northern Ireland where I believe there have been further issues with customs. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the Union were approached by a number of game organisers/site owners to gauge the legality of running games during the lift of restriction levels. The Union provided this guidance, but it was highlighted that if Airsoft was registered as a sport (like paintball is), then we potentially could have returned sooner. However, in order to register as a sport we would require a national governing body. The membership was 'sold' to me as more of an insurance scheme; in case I should ever need assistance, but also to support the ongoing efforts of the Union to provide some kind of national governing body - which was well supported by representatives, members, non-members and site owners when discussed with them. Whilst it was before my time, I believe the references to 'proposed bans' etc relate to the VCRA 2007 bill. @Cannonfodder if you would like I will try to find more information relating to this. Unfortunately, our Chairman has suffered from issues with his personal circumstances lately, and this has led to our AGM not happening as early in the year as perhaps would be expected. Rest assured, I am actively pursuing this and hope it will be able to go ahead soon. With this in mind, I cannot comment on the plans going forward for the annual members skirmish or attendance at NAE. In the past I have attempted to arrange a members only game, but then struggled to find a site to host it at. It is on my list of things to arrange, and as soon as I have news I will share it. I do recognise that perhaps the communications from the Union have not been as good as would be expected, and for that please accept my apology. @Rogerborg - are you referring to the Operation Stigma II post on Facebook from May 2022 as this is all I can find? @RebelScum if you would like, please send me a message and I will do my best to chase up your patch - as it is of course not right that you have yet to receive it. Finally, I would like to address suggestions that members of the Union are in it to 'make a name' for themselves, or as an 'ego boost'. I appreciate this is personal opinion, but when engaging with other representatives I have not experienced this. I see the other representatives as individuals with only the interests of the players and the sport at heart. My inbox is always open, and I am always more than happy to engage with any player, whether they are a member or not. I've done my best to address what people have said, and am happy to discuss anything. - Jacob

  37. Grrrr its an outrage The Highways Act covers the firing within 50’, and covers ‘any firearm or firework’ The 6 & 12 ft lbs covers low powered air weapons in the firearms act, but still treats them within the firearms definition Even though airsoft fires at a much lower power it previously still qualified as a low powered air weapon / firearm But legislation change exempted compliant airsoft guns from being firearms This could arguably mean that airsoft is legal to fire within 50’ of a highway But the best position to be in is to never test that out. Irrespective of what is being shot a police response could occur, which provided there isn’t idiotic escalation or other offences would generally result in ‘advice’. Police advice can be given in many legal situations in order to avoid worrying the public in the first place Be sensible Don’t be overlooked Don’t be overheard Ensure that every BB is stopped and cannot bounce Be friendly and open with neighbours If there’s any concern then don’t do it

You sir are the Devil's Spawn, and no mistake P.S. did you find any of those SIG mags? 😊 I remain a constant admirer of the L85 Though it did lose quite a bit (where it gained quite a bit) when it transitioned from the original XL65 prototype (Somewhat ironic it's the Ares Research Services as my source for the pic) I quite admire that, mostly because I'd have no idea of the donor gun without your hint. So this one was a bit of a gamble. listed as boneyard on BBguns4less with no details of the issues. I had a few NGRS AK parts floating around so I bought it and when it arrived it was missing the fire selector lever that sits inside the receiver and is attached to the fire selector. The hop dial, which sets the hop, was snapped off and missing. Luckily I has a spare selector lever and I replicated the dial from another of my NGRS AK's and 3D printed it and it works well. It looks like this was a brand new, in the box, AEG that they robbed for parts - very happy with the result. And I also picked up a Canik TP9 whcih fires differently from about 99% of other airsoft pistols. It's striker fired, not hammer fired, and I quite like it. but me being me, I couldn't leave it alone as the extended mag release tended to dump the mag when holstered in my Warrior universal holster so off the the 3D printer again to make a 3mm thick extension to replace the standard 5mm version that comes with the pistol.

  48. I'm not even sure why we're still entertaining this thread, yes there are laws pertaining to rif use that any of us could easily fall foul of, but every thread that's EVER discussed anything along these lines have all come to the same conclusions : IF YOU WAVE A RIF AROUND ANYWHERE THAT MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC CAN SEE YOU, YOU WILL GET A VISIT FROM THE POLICE. Now irrespective of anyone here's knowledge of the laws, taking the moral high ground because "According to laws XYZ its OK to do this, so it's my right" is bollocks, the plod are obligated to investigate every call they receive regarding potential firearms, even when your in your own back garden or on private land, & there isn't a court in the land that will support you versus the police when in comes to them doing their duties in this matter, whether its them telling you to "don't be a cnut, use some common sense", or the other end of the sliding scale, them shooting you dead. Even if the attending officers are very knowledgeable about Airsoft & are polite when discussing it with you, respond with a smart mouth & you'll find yourself nicked for "causing distress" or public order offences, & your kit grabbed for "assessment", & don't expect to get it back anytime soon. Back on track, if you want to fiddle with your guns in your back garden, let any overlooking neighbours know that their harmless but realistic toys & explain your hobby, maybe even print something out explaining it in more detail, get them on board & understanding. If if you do fire your toys in your garden, set up an appropriate range with a decent backstop to keep any stray bb's within your property boundaries. USE SOME COMMON SENSE ? 😏
