HPA player aims for guns and equipment rather than heads and faces. Still complains. 😏 Same site? did you report it to the staff? Did they chrono-check person responsible? Perhaps NERF would be a more appropriate pastime for you to undertake?3 points -
Thanks for all the info guys, really appreciate it! I wasn't aware of the 1.3J legal limit on full auto so thanks for that. I will be buying a chrono soon, not for that reason but so I can know my gun is site acceptable when I start gaming n go for my ukara licence. I will go with a 130 spring then and see what happens, I'm currently putting .25 bbs through the gun but will up that to .3 or just above. I have played with the hop up but it seems to put an arc on the bb rather than helping it with straight range. Maybe I'm just expecting too much from an airsoft gun! Again thanks for all the info it's helped a lot!2 points

Some folks are just beyond help eh? As is often misatrributed to Mr Einstein, 'Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results.' At this point going into every game with the mentality that you're going to hate it alongside every person that chooses to use a tank and a line as their propellant of choice will result in you convincing yourself of anything to justify your preconception. Maybe stick to target shooting, because I'm not sure being shot back at is entirely for you at this point. I'm picturing you're a bit of a safezone dweller as is.2 points -

'No timewasters or scammers' - A bit rich coming from a user who's posted up tonnes of brand new kit without a single picture including a username and date on a piece of paper to prove ownership, registered only a week ago, zero feedback and zero posts outside of the classifieds. If there was a 'scammers bingo' you would be very close to winning - just need 'Bank Transfer only' to round things out....2 points -

Well, most of the HPA players I've come across have been no problem at all - they have enough self awareness to recognise that they will be more heavily scrutinised purely on their choice of power source for their plastic people shooter. I've probably had more problems with DSG and Super-duper Hi-speed AEG build owners over the years than HPA. As @Skara so eloquently put it - it's the player, not the gun. And I've seen very expensive gear get (surprisingly) smashed up with 1j guns (well before HPA became a 'thing') and if people don't wear full-face protection, then I don't have much sympathy for injuries that are clearly avoidable. P.S. I don't own anything HPA or remotely 'Hi-Speed'.2 points -

Nick G reacted to RostokMcSpoons for a topic
Couldn't spot a thread for this big ol' lump of goodness, so I thought I'd kick one off, so I can ask all my dumb "new owner" questions in one place. I'll also do a personal review once I've taken it for a skirmish, but the TL;DR version is - it feels fantastic as it's built like a tank, the recoil is powerful, and with heavy BBs it seems very accurate at 15m (which is as far as I've shot it so far) A bit of context: I've got several AEGs, a Tippmann M4 HPA which hasn't been set up well enough to skirmish with, and this is my first GBBR, so I'll be asking newbie questions about gas guns in general, as much as about this in particular. This gun was bought used with minimal wear, with a single mag (which itself suggests light plinking use rather than skirmishing) from Action Hobbies. I've just received a second mag from Patrolbase (cost £50, the last they had in stock) As it's set up right now, with some old Green Gas in the mag, it's hitting 290fps with 0.40g Geoff's Natural Precision BBs ... that's about 50fps more than I should have. Oopsies. My initial questions are: 1) What should I check / maintain in the gun from the off? I have already used some light silicone grease mixed with a squirt of silicone spray to make a very light grease, and lubed the bolt carrier and bolt. 2) I understand there's a built-in NPAS or power valve. The instruction booklet is useless, doesn't say anything about that - how do I adjust it? 3) I've only shot my gun at 15m with those 0.40's... is the standard hop-up capable of lifting them at range? Or should I be ordering something a little lighter? (My current ammo is all 0.25 and 0.28) 4) Any recommendations on gas? Currently there's some weird old "Puff Dino"(!) green gas in there that came with the gun. I mostly have Abbey Ultra, Abbey Sniper, and Ultrair Power Gas that I bought for my winter use of pistols. A bit of Nuprol 1.0 and 2.0, and some Abbey 144a Maintenance gas too. 5) Any must-have accessories? I've already got a specialised speedloader adapter (for the cheapo pistol speedloader I'm using at the moment) off of eBay. It seems to work a bit better than the standard one. I've got an Odin knock-off coming too, but I suspect the mag spring will defeat that quite quickly. The full Odin + adapter combo is a bit pricey at ~£72 though! As always, your thoughts much appreciated1 point -
Hi guys I'm new to the forums and also to airsoft. I went out and spent 500 quid on guns and attachments etc but my rifle, the blue fox, comes with no info in the box and I'm struggling to find info on the net. I would like to know if I can swap the ni mh battery for lipo batteries? Also does anyone know what spring is in there? Just says the gun has 1J power and 330fps. I want to upgrade the fps for home use, if I install an m130 or even an m150 spring into this rifle, will this wreck the gun quickly in any specific way? The gun has a tightbore 6.03 barrel as stock and a v2 gearbox. I plan to upgrade the piston and barrel for higher end ones and also plan to swap out parts to ensure anywhere I'm leaking air is dealt with as it's all metal construction seems pretty solid. It seems like a decent chassis but I'm sure it will be full of mediocre parts as its a 220 quid rifle. I don't mind spending a couple of hundred to turn it into a more reliable gun though as I really like its bones! Sorry for all the questions and long thread but as i said I'm new and despite reading a lot on aegs themselves, I can't find much info on the gun itself! Thanks! PS... The reason for wanting the higher power spring and increased fps is SOLELY for home, outdoor, longer range target practice. The colt m4 has quick change spring system, meaning I can easily switch back to lower spring for games. I simply want to be able to fire a heavier bb, at decent range for target shooting for my own enjoyment. I'm not some moron who wants to hurt anyone.1 point

Tis the final (hopefully) form of my carbine. Swapped the 6.5" handguard for a 5" ARP one. Had to turn down the TTI outer barrel because the G&G barrel nut is very narrow and didn't fit (you can see the bare aluminium "rings" where I removed material off the barrel). Also removed the EVO sights as they are too low to be comfortably used with a lower face mask. All I need now is a decent sling and maybe a tracer unit.1 point -

I'm firing inside my house so it can't be a temp issue. I'm using WE X2 green gas. Filling the mag with bottle held upside down, holding for 7 to 10 seconds. As I said I have oiled the hammer valve and purged which massively increased the 6 shots I initially got but I'm still not getting a full mag. Could it be a wear in issue, will improve over time as the mag is used? I'm planning to switch to red gas as I have read it's higher pressure, hoping that will cure the issue as well as increase my fps a little.1 point

I've got one and I'm certainly impressed with build quality and performance out of the box. Haven't used it in a game yet and mine would need a stronger spring to get it to SPR performance but very happy with it. I don't know how picky you are about external finish etc but its as good as any other replica in the price range. Be aware It is quite front heavy.1 point

Started out OK but then the some HPA hole was shooting players in the hands and targeting the weapons, my son too a fair few hits as I did to the hands, in my sons case, he had his torch shot to bits and damaged, just like mine the month before and these things come with toughened PC lenses to withstand a sniper 2.5J job. Luckily I had taken precautions the couple of weeks before where I added some clear plastic, the stuff from shrunk wrapped store items, the thick stuff and added a couple of layers before and after the lens and that saved the actual LED being blown to bits like min was. I have a pretty good idea who the player is now as they don't take their hits and was the HPA hole that was trigger spamming everyone as well as overkill. I'd really like to see a game day with no HPA and AEG and GBB pistols only and have an even playing field.1 point

I don't know about their new stuff, but back in the day I had a Dboys m4 CQB when I lived in Spain and it was absolutely bulletproof. Amusingly I still have the V2 gearbox from it. If I were to put myself in my shoes 12 years ago when I used it, I'd buy it again in a heartbeat; that and the Cyma m14 SOCOM were zero regret purchases when I was in Spain. Unfortunately I don't have them now, outside the Dboys gearbox1 point

Sure. 7.4V for reliability, that will generally perform as well as the 9.6V nimh that yours came with. You can try 11.1V to increase maximum ROF and semi-auto response at the risk of getting double-firing in semi, plus more wear on the components. I wouldn't sink any more money into nimh, and cheap chargers are the falsest of economies. We like the SkyRC range, and the S65 will do anything that you need. M100 or thereabouts, but everything in airsoft is approximate. It'll increase wear on the gears and piston rack. Yours seems to have a metal (I won't say steel) rack so go for it. Everything is replaceable if it does break. Your stock motor might start to struggle as you go heavier, you can then upgrade that, run it on 11.1V, or live with it. As noted, if it becomes capable of shooting any BB at over 1.3J on full auto then legally speaking it ceases to be an airsoft gun and becomes a Section 5 prohibited firearm. If it's only in this configuration on your property then that's a tiny, tiny risk, but it's not non-zero. Tight-ish. ZCI barrels offer decent value for money, and I've had luck with AOLS. As with everything in airsoft, changing a component may not result in an "upgrade" no matter how much you spend on it. As an FYI, that refers to the style, i.e. V2 is typically used in M4/M16s (and MP5s other than the MP5K). And there's no real standard, so one V2 gearbox might not be a drop in replacement for another, or take the same parts easily. However, I'm not aware of any particular quirks with the Cyberguns. The best airseal I have is on a sub-£100 CYMA with stock barrel, piston and nozzle, the piston and cylinder head o-rings stretched and greased, and some more ports drilled into the piston head. Again: spending more doesn't necessarily get you more. VFCs and Krytacs costing twice as much can break twice as fast. The best amount to spend for that purpose is zero. Or at most, shim and grease it, then see how it performs. Stock parts generally work well enough together. Once you start changing them out (I won't say upgrading) then you're adding unknowns and new points of failure. As above, the hop unit and rubber is where to start. I can't see any info on what hop unit is in yours, so it's probably an older style dial unit. Rotary units tend to work better, and the ZCI plastic rotary units are much loved - if you can find one in stock. Rubbers, the Maple Leaf macaron and omega nubs (e.g. https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/internal-parts/hop-up-buckings-nubs/maple-leaf-macaron-60-nub ) are popular - not the clear silicone ones! - although everyone has their favourite, like Prometheus Purple or G&G Green. It's very much a case of finding out what works well in your gun. Feed it the heaviest BBs that it can lift. Through the magic of square-vs-cube physics, a heavier BB will come out slower but will go further, at the same muzzle energy. Also, ahoy and welcome to the money pit.1 point

Sounds like it's performing well so far. A mate of mine has the 417 and it's a beast ! BB weight wise I tend to use .30's in my GBBRs , although they will lift heavier I dont find the benefit out weighs the extra cost. Game play with them is great fun, work in close to the otrher team then pick your shots. It's very satisfying, ofcourse the other side will know where you are as soon as you open up just from the noise , and that can also be a factor in if you take a shot or not. 5 mags and a speedloader work for me and gives me ample ammo for an hours game, getting about 2.5 BB loads from a gas fill (on my WE mags) Have fun with it !1 point -
If you want more range then concentrate on the hop . A decent rubber and nub will allow you to lift heavier BB's and increase effective range. As above, going stronger on the spring runs the risk of taking the power level over the 1.3 joule UK limit for a gun capable of fully auto fire . At that stage it becomes a firearm , and if a neighbour should report you for having a gun in your garen you could potentially be done for a firearms offence, If you do want to increase power then get yourself a chrono first so that you can be sure you are keeping it legal.1 point
-
Unless you convert the rifle to single shot only before installing the heavier spring, Then you will essentially have a section 5 firearm which is illegal.1 point

The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread
Tactical Pith Helmet reacted to Colin Allen for a topic
Following our recent adventure oop north as described in Weeble200's post above, I spent today at Tower Airsoft, one of my regular sites in the sarf east. About 50 people were present to indulge in shooting each other with little plastic balls. For a change, the games were organised by the team from Airsoft Plantation, Tower's big brother at the other end of the wood. We started off with a simple ambush game which, as the name suggests, involved one team ambushing the other as they patrolled along the road through the site. The patrolling team's key rule of engagement was that they had to stay on the road and could not shoot until engaged by the ambushers; once that had happened, they were free to return fire and go wherever they wanted. Patrollers had infinite regens on a marshal, whereas the ambushers only had one life. I was dubious about the game at first, but it turned out to be rather fun, with both teams getting a go at being the ambushers and the ambushees; the team that cleared the ambushers out in the fastest time form the first shot being fired were the winners, with a one minute penalty for each ambusher still alive after the area had been declared clear by the patrollers. After that, we played the first leg of a longer game using the whole site. The concept was that the attacking team had been parachuted in ahead of a seaborne invasion with a mission to destroy a road via which the enemy would receive reinforcements, a comms centre, and a vital bridge. In order to destroy these, the attacking team had a designated demolition specialist, equipped with electrically triggered smoke grenades (no bangs allowed at Tower due to the proximity of neighbours), an electric detonator and a remote control. They could attack them in any order they wanted but had to start dispersed across the site out of sight of each other as a result of the drop. The defenders had to start around the road. Both sides had infinite buddy regens at the start; however, once two objectives were destroyed, the defenders were down to two lives as no further reinforcements could get through. We were the attackers and the group of about five of us who banded together after our dispersed drop decided to try to draw as many of the enemy as possible onto us rather than onto the team with the demolition specialist. This was successful as we spent a lot of the hour engaging much larger groups of the enemy and all targets were destroyed. After lunch, we played a fallback game, defending the road, then the castle area and, finally, the church. The enemy captured the road and the castle, but not the church. This was then reversed and we captured all three. We then played the reverse of the paratroopers game, with us as the defenders. I will draw a veil over this game, except to note that, despite some great play, we got walloped. It was a good, fun day with great play from both teams and no significant issues apart from my M4 deciding yet again not to feed from most of the magazines that it had happily fed from on Friday evening; it seemed to only like the PTS PMags. However, I have now modified some other mags that should now feed perfectly in it, although I suspect that it will still find a way to reject them. I also bought a cheap Double Eagle shotgun from the site shop and got a kill with my third shot from it; it shoots at 1J and has excellent range; great fun. Just as an update if anyone is interested, I phoned JAL last week to inquire about imports - as I'm on a two part ticket with ITM->HND with JAL and then HND->LHR with BA. BA said check with JAL as they are the check in agents, JAL said "i dunno". So they asked for details via email and spec sheets of what I would be getting, so sent them links to a NGRS MP5 and AKM GBB as examples. So now its back over to them to get back in contact in a couple days. If its a no-go, it will be a case of weighing up buying and posting vs buying in the UK without the faff factor. EDIT: JAL phoned back, confirming it's all good. They even put a note on my file saying that i may need special check in. If I don't buy anything, let them know. The only issue is them saying that I should re-check in with BA in HND. So i spoke to BA via live chat and again, they just shrugged and went "S'aight, just check in with JAL". I saved that chat, so hopefully it should be smooth sailing apart from the wife moaning, asking "Don't you already have that one?"1 point -

A decent site will ensure that the HPA inline regulators are locked down with a cable tie, and will conduct spot-checks during the course of the game day. If your site is not doing that - then find one that does. Again, I have seen real-steel sights and genuine Surefires get smashed by legit, chrono-checked 1j AEGs, so your argument about equipment doesn't hold much weight. You don't like HPA guns - we get it. But they are very much here to stay so you will have to learn to live with them if you want to continue with this hobby.1 point -
2nd post in a row with a hard-on for hating HPA players and blaming them for everything. Will your next post also blame them for world hunger? 🤣 @Skara has the right of it, it's the player, not the gun, and dickheads will be dickheads regardless what they're using. Though it is very easy to build a wankergun with HPA, not all HPA are wankerguns and not all wankerguns are HPA. I don't think I've ever had any issues with the HPA regulars at my local site, and we have some pretty dedicated HPA players. Also, not all HPA systems are spammy; my HPA m21 really, really hates it if I try to spam the trigger as firstly the mags can't keep up and will stop feeding well and becomes inconsistent, inaccurate and generally just bad if I spam. The only issue people have had with me running my HPA m21 is the classic "that's a bit close for a sniper isn't it?" because it looks like a sniper, sounds like a sniper and I'm dressed like a bush like a sniper, but it's 1.1J and I have the same issue with my m700 when I run that lower power as well. Also, again, as Skara said... Sounds like you need to find a new site1 point
