  2. It ain't much, but I spent a few hours fiddling with my Lancer M4 last night and now I've got it just how I want it externally. Bit of Halfords khaki, some rail rubbers, straightened out the killflash because it was sitting at a weird angle. Ready for the next game.

  5. Completely depends on your playing style and the type of field you're on. They can be effective, you just need to get up close, so charging forward with no fear is a must. I will add, the above is obviously far easier in CQB/urban than large open woodland.

Specna Arms sa-06 Core. Got a Specna metal receiver that needs to be fitted, so it won't look that different and am waiting on a Tan C-more RDS to arrive and that's it complete.

  10. Just getting into it myself but from what I've seen there's certainly a place for the more laid back player. I like to play the DMR role but without the DMR, using an AEG. Set up the scope and hop right and you can do some cheeky counter-sniping, very satisfying when it comes off and you still have the option of full auto. You can get the young 'uns (and a few fit old 'uns) doing kamikaze runs, but if you're prepared for it won't work out well for them 😉 Had a few 'speedsofters' in the last game I played, but also lots of guys in gillie suits, it all evens out in the end.

  12. OK, so 47 years and excessive pies have put me off doing it but after my youngest got hooked, then father /son hobby was born... I genuinely don't have a clue. Lol. I've got a mate who is really into it and I'm learning what I can so I don't look like a complete noob, just a partial one... 🤣 Going to do a few rentals before buying something interesting too. I will be annoying, asking random questions that have been asked before (must search first!). Hope to pull the right ideas from your experiences. Er, "game on" 😳

  13. Welcome, your in the right place for good well intentioned advice from fellow geriatric pie lovers 🥮🐖. Best advice I personally can give you is don't be sucked in by the gearqueers & stitch counters, for every bit of super expensive kit thats seen on seal team or similar, there's an airsoft version that costs about 20% of the real steel kit, & it'll do the job almost as well when you take in to account how much use its likely to get in comparison to real world combat. Plus, as you mentioned your lad is your youngest, no doubt your having to pick up the tab on everything for both of you lol. Same goes for guns, yes it's very easy to blow £500+ on top line kit, brands such as cyma do the job for considerably less, so no need to get silly (well not straight away anyway 🤣) With regards to load carrying kit, go as light as you can to start with, if you are carrying extra timber, overloading your self with multiple layers of sweat inducing tactical nylon will finish you off by lunchtime, so think about what you need rather than what you want. & have fun👍

  15. Dog Tag seems to be a reasonable site to get into the general Sunday skirmish and Drivers Wood is also close so local options. Plenty of people running around in jeans, check shirt and trainers with a plate carrier. I just use bdu’s and a fairly minimal chest rig for mags and frags. Gone are my days of Paraclete Rav and lid thanks! Although I did just buy a large Alice pack. Oh no I’ve started again. 😱 I must stop waking up shouting “Inokatsu M60”. It’s starting to alarm the wife.

Truth to tell, I've got a magwell grip myself, because I found that I kept gripping the magwell. Now that I've fitted it, I find myself never gripping the magwell. Fickle-fingers syndrome, the airsoft curse.

  17. Then definitely not. The only people I've seen commit to any serious shotgun use in woodland are under 25 and lean.

You gits 😢 Different grips for different situations...a larger magwell is also handy. Less silly than having an AFG or VFG right near the magwell, which is common. The LLCS leaves are a bit of a legacy from when the front end was bright green, I'm generally worried about the people I'm facing. Also it's Christmas somewhere. Maybe.

You missed the hand around the buttstock, suprised the owner didnt fit a pistol brace I must also rudely say, is that a christmas decoration up front or camoflage... you know the enemy only ever attack from straight ahead, not any of the other 359 degrees

  21. Other than not touching with a barge pole there are two follow up actions: 1) Forget about it 2) Notify the police / RMPs From the information there are two likely possibilities - nothing exists and money will disappear, or there is an open door at the back of someone’s armoury The RMPs would be interested in the 2nd possibility

  25. Hi Matt , I’m wrong side of 40 too and havent played for around 7yrs now , but prior to that I’d played solidly from around 2004/ 2005 being involved with various teams , travelled to sites up and and down the country and even part organised a few milsim weekenders on my way out the door but the passion fizzled out , I was all in but just felt I wasn’t getting out of it what I felt I should be . But …. My old mate @The Waco Kidis back on the Sunday morning grind and I’m thinking of making a return but this time try to keep my kit whore collecting side seperate from the skirmishing side and just have a bit of simple good old fashioned fun .

  27. I made a thread on upgrading a T-11. Haven't had a TAC in my hands, from what I've seen though it appears to be a very good rifle, although heard of some QC issues. A VSR gun can be turned into a fine shooter without spending a fortune on it, essentially you need a good hop rubber, a consistent method of applying pressure (say a TDC mod) and removal of any possible air leak. The AA T-10/T-11 series of rifles already comes with a nice 90° trigger and you can, with the right mods, set it up to fire at 2.2J with a relatively soft spring. Mine for example on a cut down M100 can pump out 1.5J on 0.4g bbs, and that is with a 300mm inner. If I were to install the stock barrel (430mm) I don't know what power output I'd have.. All this considering a humongous 24mm airbrake.

  28. Just counted my rifs... thirteen plus the never used pistol. Sounds bloody unlucky to me, so the search for a PPSh is back on. I clearly remember working out how much I would save buying a CM16 rather than renting one when I started out. What the bastard fuck happened? 😳

  30. Played a fair bit quite a long time ago (a very very long time ago) you could buy springer kits in hobby shops when I started out! Not been to a site in a while, probably 5 years since I last went to the place in Holmbush (Horsham). At 46 I'm in good shape but I'm not exactly one of life's runners, remember the last time I went there were loads of youngsters running about like loons, was wondering if there's still much of a role for the slower player these days? Was thinking a DMR role would probably suit, obvs need to get some games in and also see if I can get back into customising guns to a decent standard. I'm upgrading a friend's AAP-01 for him, sadly he's about as not local as it gets so we're not going to get games in quickly once its done, he's super keen to have me join his hobby though.

What on earth am I doing??

Game on indeed 😀 Welcome to the Airsoft asylum 👋 We all started somewhere and just learnt by doing what others did and watching their gaffs and triumphs and then developing your own style and strategies. Although in my case that all goes for a ball of chalk when the game starts lol. Good idea to do the rental games first before you decide on which gnu you want. Ask questions, talk to the guys at your game site, they are only to eager to share their knowledge.( Not me though I've got no time for no nothing noobs!) 😉 Listen to the briefing and follow your team and hope they know what the hell is going on and you will be fine.👍 Enjoy and call your hits.🤕 Check out afuks @GAMBLEhe has a tube channel with tips and info and general all round Airsoft antics. regards

  35. Woodland? I wouldn't. Even with my CYMA tri-shot with fixed hops that sort-of work with 0.28g, I wouldn't. The FABARM doesn't claim to have a hop. CQB, maybe. It's very site and play dependent, and getting harder all the time as even the most basic of AEGs and pistols are more effective now.

  36. I love brushless in my RC car, im sure theyll be common place in airsoft before long, but i dont see they are really neccersary - seeing as we only ever want our motors to go from standstill to flat out, the joy of brushless in RC is the modulation you have incredible power and torque.

  40. @JimFromHorsham another local then! I think I'm going to head over to Holmbush after the Easter Hols and try out the one over in Crawley down, will probably get a few half day sunday morning sessions under my belt to get my UKARA sorted dont think I know my old number and I'm guessing it expires? Would be good to meet up with others as I'll be flying solo these days, the others I used to shoot with are not keen on running about in the woods anymore sadly. I know what you mean re the kit whore side of things, I'm terrible for it. I think I'll just keep to operator gear if I can, one rifle, one sidearm and no fake mil clothing, check shirts and jeans with the occasional Molle vest did the job in the real world more often than not. 😉

  41. Joined the AssBook group, posted my question, now people instead of helping are questioning that my guns can do 0.98J on a short stroked M90 setup. Many useful, much entitlement. I now remember why I don't bother with FB groups anymore.

  44. I currently use a metal tin that originally contained baby milk formula. Cut a slot into the plastic lid for the chrono to sit in. Hammered a flat onto it to stop it rolling about and then filled it with old rags and foam. It's lasted about a year before BB's have started to smash it's back doors out!

  47. Great day at Warzone in Coventry, really good mix of game modes. All players were spot on, not one issue all day. First outing for the MWS and it was good to see a fair few of them on the field…0 degrees at chrono though so not ideal!! Other than a sluggish bolt it still performed very well. Once it started to heat up in the day it was performing amazing. More “kills” today than I’ve ever had at a days softing even having a round count of 90.
