  1. I just got home from playing airsoft in a swamp (not really, but Worthing Airsoft is on an incline and we played at the bottom today and it was quite swampy and it was a great day all things considered. Played aggressive, played hard, but the main reason it was good is I managed to play the whole day. Now, that might seem like a weirdly low bar for a young'n like me, but two things: 1. I missed last game day because I was ill, so I've had a month of eating baaaaaaaadly with very little exercise (I am a notoriously bad stress eater and unemployment + sickness wasn't a nice combo) 2. I was running my full "weight loss" setup to try and counteract the weight I've put back on over the past few months. The weight loss loadout worked. I could really feel it and now I'm totally knackered; plate carrier with 4kg weighted plates in it (so 8kg because 2 plates), all my mags and spare ammo and stuff in pouches and a backpack with more gas (GBBRs use a lot) and water to drink. It was a really heavy loadout, but I'm so happy that it was as it's exactly what I was going for. Was running around with the my TM AKM GBBR and it was firing fantastically. Need to bed the hop up rubber in a bit as it was the first time out with it, but it was shooting really nicely if a little inconsistently, though I imagine the mild rain in the morning and the ambient cold didn't help it too much in that regard. One bad thing that did happen was I dropped to one knee... right on a little rock in the ground, so my right knee hurts. Plenty of rest for that... I think I'm going to keep up my break from bush wookiee-ing and keep running this weight loss loadout as I move forward for now. Weight loss is half of it, but also just working on improving an aspect of the game that I don't typically do much and haven't done much in a long time; I feel like I have sniping down, so I'll work on what I'm weaker at for now. The goal is to not only do that, but also try and carry 3 guns total (rifle, sniper and a pistol) as I'm a big lad at 6'5" with a heavy Dutch build so I think it'll be doable. It may not be and may just be more hassle than it's worth with slings everywhere, but it's a nice goal to strive for. Roll on next game day!

  4. I don't think you can count sundries on a game day as that depends on how individuals play. Travel expenses can't really be compared either. But regarding entry fees... At sites I know, Red Alert in Bucklebury is the best value at £27.50 (used to be £25) including lunch (just a pizza tho I think) The other site I frequent is Skirmish Wycombe at £30 including lunch (good food) is fair too. I try to bring sundries such as BB's, gas, snacks and water so I don't spend so much there but I'll usually buy a few extra drinks if needed.

  5. A fair price? That is quite hard to answer as it depends on what I am hoping for and what I am getting. Today I paid £25 for a well run day on an interestingly varied bit of land, with good games and an excellent safe zone. I used about 1500 BBs (half a bottle) and spent £5 on lunch and drinks; add on travel costs and it came to about £44, which I consider pretty good value for a day's fun. At another site I play at, this goes up to about £65, which still seems pretty good value; £40 of that is the entry fee. I am wondering what you do to get it up to £70 on a typical day.

  6. I walked past the bookmakers this morning and saw a sign that said Open Sunday 11-4. I thought that’s worth a tenners bet considering they were open last Sunday and good odds too.🙂

  7. Hence why Airsoft will neve become big. At most Skirmishes what most of your fees are going on is land rent ( I see you play Z-mart I don't even want to guess what they are paying rent for a site in the south of England) and business rates and don't make enough to pay a staff instead has volunteers doing it for free game and petrol money. if sites were to provide everything players wanted green fees would easily push £100+. how much is a Sports club membership, or a season ticket. Hell I payed close to £100 to see muse last time they toured (was it good valve no! was it a fantastic gig yes would i do it again? yes) Airsoft is a niche hobby that is expense you either accept that or find something else to do. Most sites are hanging on by a thread, numbers drop they're done, wood price goes up the site gets cleared, gentrifications comes to town the site gets levelled.

  9. It's been a few years since I've been on the forum so thought I'd do an updated loadout photo. Kit: SRC G-36KV with Ares front end, TM G22, old pair of Grafter boots, DPM combat 95s, Viper Lazer Special Ops Plate Carrier, Kombatuk dropleg holster, Bolle goggles and ASG face shield. I am contemplating replacing my DPM with a dark grey set of combats and also a new holster and helmet setup.

  10. I ended up in the cells the other day. I'd gone to B&Q to look for some wood for the garden. This cock in an orange overall asked me if I wanted decking. So I got the first punch in.

  13. My wife said to me the other day "and what's more, you never bloody listen!" That's a funny way to start a conversation, I thought. I decided to get a vasectomy because I didn't want kids. Sadly they were still there when I got home from the operation. My wife told me to get in touch with my feminine side. So I crashed the car. Then didn't talk to her for a week.

  16. Around £30 is fine. I bought a few stones of cheap Kilo 9s before Brexit and always take food and drink from home. Diesel costs I ignore as when you live this deep in the country you pay to go anywhere. A milsim or themed game is probably £40/50 a day, but they are few and far between and take months of planning. The enjoyment of playing these is huge, so bollox to the cost. If you want a cheaper pew outing try HFT. £5ish green fee and £1 worth of pellets a day.

  17. I've done a mix of weekend events ( normally around £100 a time with no food included) and skirmishes. Most skirmishes locally tend to be £25 without food. But I have paid up to £35. I personally prefer sites that don't include food but do provide is on site at extra expense, its then my choice to buy or not. If they do good food at reasonable prices people will buy, bad food or too expensive and people will take pack ups. Honestly, to me what is value is very much site depending. I'd find it hard to pay more than £30 for a basic woodland site but I'd be happy to pay £45 for day sessions if the site is special, such as a mall, the fire college, prison, mod site (stirling games at places like catterick are effectively 2, if not 3 standard skirmish days due to hours played, so £100 ish is cheap). What I find more frustrating is inconsistency in organisers. My local site seems to get great reports one week and then I go and it's awful (maybe it's me?!) etc. I find the fact I've wasted one of my few free days far worse than the cost. If I could guarantee an organiser would provide a good to great day then I'd be willing to pay more, possibly double the above mentioned prices, but it seems that doesn't exist.

  18. When I was just messing about with my new <1.14j gun with a flat hop I tried some 0.36s for a laugh. The power dropped with so much hop but compared to 0.28s they got the same range and were much more stable. Now the gun is tuned to account for that power drop it gave me +10m and nice stable shots. This is with both vorsk bbs. I generally use geoffs now and find they are more consistent. Also I think what you are thinking of is inertia. Heavier bbs hold their energy for longer, and end up reaching targets at 30m+ faster than lighter bbs.

  19. I played the morning today with 0.40g BBs, and had to up the hop somewhat for them, and I'm wishing now that I didn't use them all up as I'm wondering if like you my power dropped. I'm going to have to burn through some more money and buy some more to test this properly at home before I touch the hop on my DMR and never know. They did perform much better than 0.30g BBs though, they flew a lot truer and noticeably further allowing me to reach out to trade shots with a few other DMR users.

  20. I should've brought some ice skates with me today. The mud at Worthing wasn't as deep as it can get but everything was slippery as hell. I tried my luck at climbing up onto one of the ridgelines but just ended up sliding back down again on my backside 😂 Still, despite the rain some great fights, good pushes and defence by boths teams, always a pleasure to see. One complaint is a game of running barrels to a central objective was going a lot quicker that the marshalls thought it would, so a lot of rules started changing on the fly. It was a bit confusing to say the least. But we got to some classic base domination in the afternoon, lots of fun, lots of kills pretending to be a hedge 😄 It was a good day for me too, gun is back to 60m range and performing quite well even after a last minute gear change. My ghillie is doing its usual good things, though it will need some updating as we get into spring. I took out my new pistol, WE's version of the p226. Very happy with it, effective at 30m and reaches out to 45 totally stock. My friends had less good days, sniper mag issues, and my mates g&g sr15 falling apart for a third time.

  21. I had a really good, if slightly muddy, day at Airsoft Plantation. Around 170-180 players turned up and the day was played in a good sporting spirit, with well designed games and excellent marshalling. Both AEGs and the CO2 1911 performed flawlessly. I got a lot of kills, including two guys who charged around a corner at me; I shot the first one and then the second one, who was already pointing his rifle at me. He looked at it and looked at me; I was expecting him to claim that I had not taken a hit, but he just said "the safety is still on" and walked away to regen. Another player apologised to me after he had shot me in the face from fairly close range; as it was all that he could see of me, I did not see it as a problem, but it was indicative of the sprit in which players seemed to approach the day.

I went to B&Q yesterday for a length of 4×2(150×50). Salesman asked how long I wanted it? I said that I was rather hoping to keep it.

  29. I'd avoid any chrome plated springs, generally lower quality Chinese piano wire that will lose FPS over time. I'm not sure what the ARES springs are like. With the SR25 you have a slightly longer spring space so I'm guessing it's a little different to regular AEG's in regards to power (can anyone confirm??). Sadly you might have to buy a few different springs before you get the right one for 425. Not taking into account compression issues as well...Often it's tricky. How long is your current stock spring? I've just got in stock some M140 springs: https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/gearparts-aeg-spring-m140, or https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/gearparts-aeg-spring-m120

  33. I've got a V3 Maverick (essentially a T1/2 style dot) that I've been using for about a year and a half now. Very good dot for the price, no issues with parallax and the dot is clear, battery lasts a fair while as well. Also got a 3x magnifier from them and that's got nice clear glass also. They get a recommend from me.

  34. Cheap red dots seem much of a muchness to me. The top end Vectors look interesting though. They appear to have a decent warranty too. I'd be interested to hear if anyone has one.

    New So'ton Airsofter

Thanks for the warm welcome, I have a P90 AEG, MP7 GBB (which I am planning to run in warmer months), and a G18c GBB. Trying to get a prism optic / red dot to go on the RIFs and crucially a few mid-caps to replace the dreaded P90 hi-cap at the moment. Should have also mentioned I am a university staff currently playing with the student ran airsoft club, which thanks to them, have massively helped me get into the sport. Somewhat aware if / once I leave my job Ill probably be end up be going solo, hence trying to open up the network. The local site is mostly Ambush activities or South Coast CQB, but I've also played at Z-mart, UCAP Greenops, Ironsight, and RIFT Bomb dump which is my favourite so far. Not been to Ground Zero which I think failed the requirements for a sign off from the student union, but would be interested to go there on my own some day. @Khyber Too busy stroking RIFs to take pictures and upload 😅, they are plain rifles anyway, but here's a picture of the kit (with thanks to the organisers) I ran last Saturday at the bomb dump to give an idea. Also badly twisted my ankle (twice) on that day, still have a swollen feet and a bruise line need to heal up before the next game .

    New So'ton Airsofter

Fairly new guy to airsoft - Started playing the sport since last October to help reduce screen time + get the legs moving, and I've pretty much dived straight in since then. Got my UKARA the other month and now a RIF hugger owner of 2 rifles and a pistol. At the moment I'm trying to get a few accessories to go with the RIFs to make it a bit more effective in games. So far been to a few sites around the area, certainly interesting to see and experience different settings, and starting to build a list of favourites to go back repeatedly. As for the forums, I've been lurking around for a while now, but thought its actually time I should really drop in, say Hi, get to know more players and if any luck local ones too. 👋
