I’ve been missing my favourite local Facebook poster during his 30 day ban, he’s just got back and being relatively withdrawn. You're very welcome to, but I doubt that it will make an iota of difference to our learned colleague's deeply felt feelings about what the law ought to say. Honestly, I've just given up, if I wanted this level of informed and constructive debate I can get it on Twitter, Facebook, or yelling at tramps down the bus station.3 points

Strange FPS drop
Rogerborg and one other reacted to Pewpewpetie for a topic
Managed to solve it, yes tried 2 X core chronos, using asg accuracy 0.3g. turns out inside the hi cap, where the BBS feed up there was a spur of plastic which was not allowing BBS to move freely. I stripped mag down and filed off the bit, now everything is fine. Many thanks for your input.2 points -

Have you tested the chrono with another gun just to make sure it's reading consistently? Also what ammo are you using a miss shaped BB could cause the drop. Next I would check the barrel make sure it's not damaged, hop unit make sure rubber is not damaged or and loose parts in the unit it's self. After that it would be open up the gear box check piston seals though odd it's not consistent.2 points

All credit to the dirty, dirty smear merchants for such a surprisingly accurate description. They even clarify later that it's a plastic BB shooting airsoft gun rather than an air gun firearm. Going by the comments from locals, it sounds like another soft touch judge got mugged off.2 points

THE TM MWS thread
Cyberlawyer and one other reacted to Argyld for a topic
I got my MWS some time ago, must have been a freshly hatched one, was quite small ... Read all 228 pages here (yes really) and found nothing about small MWS (except for some guys rebuilding theirs into short ones) Didn't want to send it back, so tried something: IT WORKED (insert evil scientist laugh ) (don't know why picture is upside down) Asking permission to join this exclusive club. Had not thetime to go out and play yet, but while reading this thread the MWS has quite grown on me 😁 (ok ok, I'll let myself out)2 points -
Will lose a bit of efficiency as the gas router for WEs are flat rather than curved like the TM. You can pick up a replacement rubber for a few quid and swap that out pretty easy.1 point

Might as well get a quality barrel at the same time as you'll be mucking around that area anyway. A ZCI/AOLS 300mm would be a good start. AK2M4 have both. I find that the 50 degree softer buckings just don't work as well as the 60 degree ones and will match better with the genuine Omega nub in terms of hardness. Maple Leaf MR Hop Bucking 60 For AEG (Rubber) (ak2m4.co.uk) Omega Nub (Maple Leaf) (ak2m4.co.uk) ZCI AEG Inner Barrel (300mm) (ak2m4.co.uk)1 point

Yup, that's the fellow. I'd suggest 50 degree + nub, although 60 will work as well. Hey, that's @ak2m4 - great seller, his shop is at https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/internal-parts/hop-up-buckings-nubs. Personally I'm not a huge fan of the omega nubs, but many people are. Just a shame that he's out of stock of the cheaper soft Gear Parts knock off, although the hard would probably work as well as anything in airsoft does. And you don't have to change anything, just clean out the barrel, and ideally the stock hop rubber too - hopefully the Bulldog will come with a cleaning rod. Feed it 0.28g BBs if it will hop them (I'd hope so, and it almost certainly will if you put a Maple Leaf rubber in), or 0.25g at a pinch, and enjoy it for what it is. As @Asomodai notes, it's a fairly generic M4 and anything in it that does break can be sorted or replaced.1 point

Sad fact. The BBs don't care what the externals of the toy they came out of looks like, only we do. My local runs occasional Semi-Auto Sundays at which only LMGs are allowed to shoot auto, which works pretty well, and doesn't strictly exclude anyone with a functional fire selector. However, it leaves box-mag-Firehawk owners a bit out of sorts, so they only run it occasionally. Worth seeking out similar games locally, if not film/milsims, if you want to get some benefits out of hauling around an LMG.1 point -

@RostokMcSpoons just watched your video's, I would have expected a bigger jump from 7.4 to 11.1. Of course a lot of other factors at play. Ideally it's worth testing with another motor you have have the running in another RIF and compare the 2. Still the original motor? I imagine the stock motor is super bargain basement.1 point -
Nope, to my surprise the weapons catch actually holds it very firmly and just heigher than the centre point of the weapon. I would say it flaps about as much as a moderately discruntled whale.1 point
-
I run an mp7 as a secondary for my dmr and use a single point sling and weapons catch to keep it in place It's not a rapid solution to deploy but its solid enough and out the way and allows me to change roles in the field, if you get rushed and need to switch quickly then this is not the solution for you but if you need to be able to switch to engage within MED for village clearance etc it works very well. Mine actually sits extra proud as i have it mounted to a safakiland qls so i can leave it behind if im running a battle rifle1 point

My M249 is set up completely standard (RPS wise) and when I looked at increasing this I decided I didn’t need to bother. It chugs along at a steady rate, and will throw .25’s out to about 60m accurately and further creating a ‘beaten zone’. It’s bloody effective at keeping peoples heads down and the regular support gunner on our team does exactly that. However, it’s not unheard of for him to go through 1000’s of BB’s in a game, and that’s playing predominantly mil/filmsim games.1 point -
We have been discussing the painting of an IF into a RIF thus ‘modification’ under the VCRA - which has a maximum 51 week sentence if a crime is committed. Modification by changing parts and increasing the power is a different matter. I’ll get back to that in a minute The VCRA does not care if you can find coloured parts or not. Change a coloured stock to a black stock and you have modified an IF to a RIF which may or may not be illegal based on section 37 defences. You have the option to paint a black stock into an approved VCRA colour which would retain IF status You’ve complained about legal grey areas but keep proposing other grey areas. Now back to increasing the power of an airsoft IF/RIF. Not long ago there was the legal quandary that an airsoft gun was a low power air weapon (firearm) and therefore was strictly speaking not an imitation. If it’s a firearm then the VCRA does not apply and it does not matter what colour it is as it is neither an ‘Imitation Firearm’ or ‘Realistic Imitation Firearm’ (This may trigger another side conversation that an airgun looking like a real steel firearm is both a firearm and an imitation. I shall say it’s not because it’s a firearm, so can’t be an imitation) This contradictory position was removed from the firearms act by adding the statement that a UK compliant airsoft gun within the specified power level and designed to fire plastic BBs is no longer a firearm in the firearms act and falls under VCRA criteria if either an IF or RIF So what if you do modify an airsoft gun and increase its power? It won’t be legal for airsoft skirmishing But it won’t be an illegal firearm Unless it’s power is vastly increased it would now be a low power air weapon Thats a problem in Scotland now with the need for an air weapon certificate, but not in England. It’s just an airgun I have an extensive armoury of low power air weapons which are both realistic and non realistic, but I use them to legally shoot people with UK approved frangible projectiles, and I also have the details from the Home Office stating that’s fine (with an addendum that if a court decided my realistic ones are RIFs then my UKPSF membership will be fine as the skirmisher defence - which certainly wouldn’t stand up in court to scrutiny, however since that statement was made the joules adjustment to legislation was made, and they exceed that power level so are clear of the VCRA and are compliant with approved testing of the frangible projectiles So I’m back with very legal firearms and no need for a firearms certificate By the way - the minimum level of PPE in airsoft is shite. Eye protection that is currently permitted under the law is at the absolute minimum of impact protection, such as glasses with impact protection. Only some airsoft eye protection is adequate to the risk, but as an adult players are permitted to take that personal risk by sites and their insurers. For under 18s it’s recognised as inadequate and they are required to use full face protection (effectively by the insurance industry not being able to offset the sites liability to minors)1 point

Tactical Pith Helmet reacted to Tommikka for a topic
In real life the original objective of ‘machine guns’ was to be inconsistent & inaccurate. That meant a high rate of fire and a low level of accuracy was not to deliver a line of bullets in quick succession but a distributed ‘cloud’ which either deny an area suppressing the opposition or hit a wide random selection of advancing opposition. If you’re suppressing then you want a high enough rate of fire to make the opposition hesitate from chancing their ability to run through the spaced out gaps in between them If you have a muzzle velocity of 350fps and a rate of fire of 22rps/bps then each BB has travelled 15.9 feet before the next one follows. (Ignoring deceleration etc) If they are consistent and accurate then your opposition has a gap of almost 16 feet to move in 1/22nd of a second If you’re firing accurately then they just need to keep their head down and dodge that spot1 point -

I use an LMG. Proper suppressive fire does not need a massive rof. Causing a stream of plastic to whir past where someone may stick there head out is of dubious worth. You're better off rattling a longish slow burst into cover so that folk know there being covered in my experience. In airsoft milsims and filmsims the advantage is mag capacity and round amount loaded. No advantage in skirmishes.1 point -
PS where are you getting a 2 years in custody from? The maximum sentence is 51 weeks, which is below one year therefore you would serve half that time, would not be subject to probation and would also get any deductions for time served pending trial. So up to 6 months, which isn’t really enough time to learn a trade & get some qualifications in a Prison Industries workshop There may also either the custodial, a fine or both custodial and fine. The fine is at level 5 fine which isn’t to be sniffed at as this level could now be unlimited in England. Level 5 has previously been £2000, £5000, £10000 9)An offence under this section shall be punishable, on summary conviction— (a)in England and Wales, with imprisonment for a term not exceeding 51 weeks or with a fine not exceeding level 5 on the standard scale, or with both; and (b)in Scotland, with imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months or with a fine not exceeding level 5 on the standard scale, or with both. http://www.prisonreformtrust.org.uk/Portals/0/Documents/PIB extract - Working out how long you will be in prison.pdf https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_scale1 point

What offence has been committed? Painting an IF into a RIF is the same offence as ‘repairing’ an IF by changing coloured parts. (Which would pretty much be changing the body shell) The difference being that painting an IF has paint as evidence. If the intent of the modifier is one of the VCRA defences then no crime has been committed Note that you have referred to grey areas and highlighted that they really are not grey areas. They are an element that is subject to opinion until it’s gone through court. ‘Gifting’ is the grey area. The law details sale, import and manufacture. People have interpreted that giving a RIF/IF to someone under 18 is legal because it is not mentioned. This has not been tested in court. If a court decides that the intent of the VCRA is to place controls on the transfer of RIFs/IFs as opposed to the contractual elements of a sale transaction then gifting a RIF without a defence would be illegal and gifting a RIF/IF to a minor would be illegal That’s the grey area of the VCRA, the section 37 defences are in black and white (taking into account the fact that Airsoft skirmishing is a supplement by statutory instrument)1 point

Who said that it did? It does however distinguish between a discrete act, and an ongoing course of conduct. The fact is that it is not a "two tone gun", firstly because no such definition exists in law. It's either a realistic imitation firearm, or an (implicitly non realistic) imitation firearm. And it is a realistic imitation firearm. What it might have been in the past isn't relevant to what it is now. Who is under an obligation to modify it into a non-realistic imitation firearm, and why? What offence is being committed if they do not? Is the offence an action, or a course of conduct? Which Act and Section defines the offence? Good job nobody except you is making that point then. We're all going to agree that an offence was committed at the point where it was modified into a RIF. However, it sounds likely that a defence could be adduced, and it's irrelevant to the recipient, and always has been, now or in the past, as they committed, and are committing, no offence by accepting or possessing it. And what's the relevance of that? No offence was committed by either the person making or receiving the gift through the act of gifting. No defence is required, not that ignorance is listed as one. The amazing thing is that you do actually know the relevant legislation, which lists the relevant offences, and yet you've gone ahead and imagined up some more. Wait... do you work for the police or CPS?1 point
