Best way in the UK to purchase a neat tactical outfit?
ModernTimes and 3 others reacted to Badgerlicious for a topic
MTP is great this time of the year though, site depending. And it's... reasonable on some sites year round, especially if the foliage is lighter coloured. Webbing rigs and camo aren't made to look cool, it's made to be efficient in combat, and it looks cool because of what soldiers do with it. I am a believer in 'form follows function' i.e. make a practical, well made, efficient kit and it will look good.4 points -

Selling my Gen 3 pvs-14 as am upgrading to duels. Have had this unit for about 4 years, used for a total of about 25 hours. no Blems or spots, really clean tube. great performance. It’s ex US export stock so no worries about MoD getting funky if you turn up to an event at a military training area with it. here’s some blurb about the tube: The ITT Gen3 PINNACLE© (F9815) tube is the same type of tube used in the MILSPEC AN/PVS-14 for standard issue. As discussed above, these tubes have incredible light-gathering capability. But, the use of the thinner thin film causes them to be more sensitive to recoil when mounted on a weapon. Thus, PINNACLE© tubes are only rated for use on 5.56x45mm NATO weapon platforms. Since this is the standard issue cartridge for NATO, the military was cool with it, and it became the standard issue tube for the PVS-14 monocular. Technically, these are commercial grade tubes only because ITT Exelis does not sell MILSPEC tubes on the commercial market. If given the opportunity to undergo the MILSPEC test, they would most likely pass, but MILSPEC testing is an added cost and logistic. it comes with case, rhino arm but no mount as I upgraded to a wilcox mount. Some additional accessories are included in the case. *amber filter not uncluded* would ideally do the deal face to face am happy to travel due to the value of the item. item is located in the GU35 postcode area. buy with confidence from seller with high positive feedback! any Questions just drop me a pm.£2,500

By waist size I should have ( :counts slowly: ) one hundred and forty seven usable slots.... I've actually got 8 (double) slots on this belt... already used 6 and one would crowd the holster and hinder my quick-draw skills (ha ha), so really I've just got the one slot left for the pouch. It'll do. (And it did only cost £15 anyway) Naughty, naughty, you're getting the special Moses Beacon pic... ...because that wasn't a pun2 points -

The thing is whether or not something looks good is personal. To use your example of cars, some might think this looks good but personally I think it looks like a polished turd Pick your kit based on what YOU like, not what others think is "cool". If others don't like your kit then that's their problem Yes we are. My point is that, when it comes to loadouts, the only person who's opinion matters is the person wearing it. Chasing likes on social media is going to leave you with an impractical loadout which will affect your enjoyment of the game2 points -
There's no way MTP is ever better than DPM, literally dozens of unqualified airsofters who spend their entire lives at one site and irrationally hate anything popular because it's cool to be different have told me so. If you want uniforms just get surplus issue stuff, commercial offerings (BTP, MTC etc etc) barely get within sniffing distance in terms of the quality for the price point. Windproof and waterproof are 2 entirely different proposals, most issue uniform is fairly windproof the smock in particular but it's still extremely breathable. Anything that's actually close to waterproof cooks you alive soon as you do much exertion and do NOT fall for the bullshit descriptions at airsoft retailers that describe any softshell jacket as waterproof; utter shite. Wear a t-shirt and a standard PCS smock, put a fleece or whatever under it if you're not moving much in the cold and have a goretex jacket somewhere to hand if you expect it to really hammer down - that'll cover 95% of UK weather.2 points

This or this plus this insert. Or jam a pack of MP2s in to one of the original HSP chest rigs. The rest of the questions I don't really grasp tbh, is the OP missing an image above the hyphenated list? Personally I've used the SS micro with the Spiritus elastic inserts quite a bit and reinserting mags is fine, takes 2% more effort vs MP2s or KYWIs you just have to angle the mags a bit at first and rock them back in.1 point

Soo I have this Amoeba 009 DMR for sale. The previous owner said had converted it to a DMR, it was changed to semi only to keep within the rules via the amoeba programming card. And changed the spring to a stronger one currently it’s shooting at 490Fps, it has some internal upgrades like a tightbore stainless barrel & upgraded hop rubber, possibly some other internal upgrades the previous owner said he upgraded the gears in the gearbox however I cannot confirm that part as I have not opened the gearbox up to check. It can be put back to a stock Aeg just needs the amoeba programming car to swap the settings back. It also runs the quick change spring gearbox and comes with some spare springs if you want to drop the FPS back to standard. also comes with some spare attachment rails, a skeleton grip & excelvan red dot sight with fresh batteries. It’s in excellent condition as you can see from the pics. Only thing it really needs is it’s missing the small lever on the rear stock that you use to slide the stock up and down. they are cheap enough to pick up on eBay ect. Still works and can be adjusted manually via pulling the screw with the nut attached. comes on its original box with manual. I’m looking for the bargin price of £110 collected from Birmingham or £125.00 posted via parcel force 48hr tracked and signed for.£110

Transition from S95 DPM to BTP / MTP
Rogerborg reacted to Ebeneezer Goode for a topic
Belts and harnesses can be hit and miss, if you pardon the pun, as different setups suit different individuals. I also find the sizing awkward as I'm only 5'6". Personally the simpler the better, as I carry nothing else apart from 2-3 mags and some BBs, however other folks carry loads of low caps, grenades, gas, etc etc etc and so require much more complex storage solutions. I'd echo @Rogerborg's suggestion regarding "civvy" woodland hunting/fishing camo. Superb stuff. I use it for fishing, never skirmished in it but I'm a fan.1 point -
True, but our favourite shop 'Patrolbase' only offer the choices of Red, Green or Blue. Places like BBguns4less have other colours but you have to be careful what you buy there.1 point
-
Welcome mate 🖐 All the info you need is in the forum 👍 You just have to find it 🧐 Unfortunately the choice is lower than it should be because stock is very low everywhere.1 point

Out of curiosity, did you get a black one or was part of it in a bright colour? (Legally it should be half painted red, green or blue) Its likely a problem with the low quality charger and battery but as Roger said, it may not be worth investing more money into that purchase unless you can try a different battery. How are you at soldering? If you can do basic soldering to change the plugs then its worth getting a Li-Po battery and charger to try because you'll also be able to use them with any other rifles you buy (assuming they fit) If your son really likes AKs I would recommend this one as a starter. https://bbguns4less.co.uk/products/cyma-cm522-ak47-with-full-stock-in-blue.html There would normally be other cheaper options but unfortunately there's a national stock shortage at the moment which will likely last into the next year. Is he set on an AK type? THIS or THIS are the cheapest available alternatives. Or a spring sniper rifle which doesn't need batteries at all. https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/airsoft-two-tone-sniper-rifles Pulling the cocking handle back does take some effort so only really suitable for ages 12 and up I would guess. (Make sure to select a 'Two Tone' colour option when ordering)1 point

Mmm, they do a range of different stuff, and lighting can be peculiar. It's a genuine suggestion to consider, by the way. I have a poncho with a pattern not unlike that, it actually does a very decent job, and I've seen (or rather, not seen) a couple of chaps using those patterns locally. Very dependent on the site and season, but as @RostokMcSpoons truth-bombs having a couple of different sets of camo is small potatoes compared to hundreds or thousands of pounds of wall hangers "backup guns"1 point -

Is the "Specna Arms SA-C25 - CORE PDW AEG" a good choice?
ModernTimes reacted to Skara for a topic
I'll elaborate more: Having a realistic feeling gun is great, but in terms of actual performance on the field, the body being polymer or metal doesn't make any difference. Thing is, we are mostly lumping around our guns all day and slowly drain our energy. The weight of the thing will determine at what point in time you'll start to hate your life I'd rather have an all polymer gun that is light and manoeuvrable than something realistic looking but that will tire out my arms quickly. with that being said, Specna (along with Evolution, Dboys and Saigo Defense) offers more than G&G despite having a lower price point: proper steel bushings, decent brass barrel, QC gearbox and rotary hop unit, whereas G&G insists on brass bushings, pressed tinfoil barrels and those stupid geared hop units that a) are more expensive to make and b) they are flawed in design because they tend to unwind themselves. And they out screws on the wrong side of the gearbox -.- you pay for the brand (and a fancy polymer body with the 2.0 series) but get outdated internals. I know you can replace those parts on a G&G buy why pay more and replace parts when you can spend less and have them on board already?1 point -

If you want concealment rather than a "military loadout" then I would suggest giving civvy camo a fair shake. E.g. see Decathlon's variations on "woodland camo".1 point -
Hmm, I can only find how to do that as a UK VAT registered business, and only for business supplies: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/refunds-of-uk-vat-for-non-uk-businesses-or-eu-vat-for-uk-businesses It doesn't seem like GunFire / TaiwanGun or any other Eurosellers should be charging EuroVAT on exports, as it means it gets paid twice to two different protection rackets. I'd have wonder if they're simply pocketing it as profit. I have similar suspicious about AliExpress sellers who claim to be paying UK VAT and duty at source, so that goods can come through UK customs. Good for us, but I do wonder - are they really paying it, or just slapping a label on the package.1 point

Transition from S95 DPM to BTP / MTP
RostokMcSpoons reacted to Tommikka for a topic
There is another factor in MTP if it’s the right material. There is a bit of science in the design which ‘absorbs’ the environment and the nearest colours in the pattern are enhanced to the human eye. It also depends on where those two pieces of material are in their life. A surplus unissued smock will be dark A surplus DPM smock that has been used for years and been through thousands of Army washing machine cycles or contract wash cycles is faded. A particular surplus DPM could have been a lighter or darker shade depending on what contract and what era it was manufactured in. Photos comparing patterns will also tell you too much. They show you the difference seen by a light sensor and what it is to look at that image The human eye sees the world differently - which field craft concentrates on. Without the human eye element and whether you are truely looking, we have extensively used an automated sentry gun and found MTP very effective against other materials even in woodland. It still performs the key function of ‘disruptive pattern materials’ which is to break up the human form The AI did show a preference for heads, which aligns with the head not being in MTP and the human bodies natural ability to keep a head steady - plus the AI began its lessons up against a football, with the head being similar-ish The AI needs to identify, track and predict where it’s valid target will be next. With MTP it had a clear preference for headshots, without MTP it swayed a little more back to the ‘easier’ target of the torso (Not only the part of the target it aimed at, but the AI image analysis saved in its log)1 point -

Transition from S95 DPM to BTP / MTP
Rogerborg reacted to RostokMcSpoons for a topic
Yeah I realised DPM is probably designed for the Fulda Gap as much as anywhere However, I stick with my assertion that MTP is a better camo for my site at this time of year, and although I might be chucking £30-50 on stuff I don't really need, when has that ever stopped us, eh? But I suppose the darker camo is going to get broken up a bit by my new multicam battle belt and harness. I'll get someone to take a pic of me at the site this weekend, see what it looks like at a distance. Also, I really ought to check to see if the site will stay open through this winter!1 point -
Transition from S95 DPM to BTP / MTP
Rogerborg reacted to Ebeneezer Goode for a topic
DPM works best in evergreen forest, as that's what it was designed for (when the thinking was that the West would be fighting the Reds in Germany in between lobbing nukes at each others cities). MTP resulted from most of our wars being in Middle Eastern parts and reflects that. MTP is a better all rounder for the reasons you describe but that's not to say DPM isnt good.1 point -
Yesterday two kids got lost in the woods (very thick vegetation, especially in that area with trees so low you have to actually crawl underneath and you have no reference points to look at and track, it was also their first time in that particular part of the field). Now, we know the field like the back of our hands and finding them was easy, but why the fuck did you decide to NOT backtrack and instead you picked a completely random direction? Also, when people shout your name, why the fuck wouldn't you answer back? When confronted, one of them kept bitching because "he knew where they were" which was obviously false, if they knew where they were, they wouldn't have had to be rescued lol.1 point

Looking for a strobe light for CQB
Tactical Pith Helmet reacted to TheFull9 for a topic
Kinda key point I've not seen mentioned; a strobe's of little effectiveness and personally I found that they're somewhat distracting to the user too. Certainly don't aid aiming that much compared to a normal light. The people who really know what they're doing and have access to all the kit they could ever desire don't use them, better off to just learn how to actually setup a weapon mounted light so it's accessible and practical, then learn how to actually use that light the right way. Oh and make sure it's protected from hits and you actually have good batteries. Oh and spare batteries. And.... A light with plenty of umph does the job of essentially hiding your exact position to the person you're lighting up if they're much at all adjusted to the dark, despite what the urban myths say.1 point -

The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread
GeorgePlaysAirsoft reacted to Tactical Pith Helmet for a topic
Filmsim at Tuddenham today. Pretty simple domination and timer based games today. TBH, it felt more like a standard skirmish than the usual filmsim, but fun nonetheless. Attended with the lad, his mate and an old friend that has not played for over a year due to covid restrictions etc. In the morning we had a standard but very clear safety brief. As a rule, these are of a rare kind. What they say they do usually actually happens. Chrono well before kick-off, so any issues with fps can be dealt with, and spare rifs can be fetched. Nice clear game brief delivered with a bit of humour, simple rules and a flashy magnetic backed map of the area/overhead photo thing. Whatever it is, it made knowing what do where easy. Game stared almost on time, which is nice. The armband team attacked a pair of positions with the aim of setting off a timer. I managed to run to one timer fairly early and pressed the wrong button, because despite the clear game brief, I have a crap memory. Once the timer had been correctly started, we moved to the next objective. With the first completed, I managed to work my way to the second timer. About twelve far pluckier previous attempts had failed, but these had led to the opposition giving away their positions. This was only possible due to some good teamwork and pretty clear communication, which is impressive for a random group of strangers I think. Whatever, the case, I was hit about five feet from the timer with the marshal counting down from ten. At the count of eight someone threw themselves through the hail of BBs and started to medic me, until the penny dropped... he realised that I was shouting to ignoe me and get the timer, which he dived at just in time for the countdown to end, and we lost. Seriously, it was hysterical. His seriously nice gesture used up too much precious time, the game had been great fun and no one seemed to mind taking the L. The next game turned around and was even more fun than the last. Having sussed the best spots that had blatted us previously, we swiftly set up position in them. An inability to stop talking by a couple of the players meant that we were swiftly discovered. I retook the position despite heavy fire from the lad whose mouth had lost it, as we had split up after respawning, and he had forgotten what I was wearing I think. The opposition soon played a really simple but clever series of flanking moves which almost surrounded us as we defended the timer. The amount of plastic flung was prodigious, we stuck out until the end. I think the morning was a draw overall? We may have lost, I don't really remember, if I knew at all. Lunch was too long, as it always is. Half an hour would be ample, but that may not allow enough time to drive to the nearest Mackie D's for ultra shit food. Being a cut above such behaviour, we had broccoli frittata, pork pies (with jelly), cold sausage and green tea, as per Healthy Airsofter's thread. Loads of protein and no carbs (OK apart from the crisps). If this carries on I may end up shopping in Waitrose or something. The afternoon was played in the village. This was a really great scrap over a chess timer type deal. At the close of play the timer in the shipping containers had about two minutes difference, which showed what a good scrap had developed around it. The second timer in the buildings was 100% held by the other side. Fuck knows what happened there. The turn around was well played and the fight over the containers even better. I was getting a bit knackered by now. Lack of sleep made me sluggish, but a new rif performed well, despite the inevitable hop setting palaver as it settled in. A new toy always makes a game good I reckon, especially when it turns out to be a snappily sharp little number. The loaned out and ever reliable G&G CM had a minor fit, it failed to fire as if the battery was totally flat, until I reminded the lad to select auto, as the 'fet is set to one shot burst. In semi it just sulks. Some really good gameplay saw the buildings well contested, with the front of the village lost and retaken by each side numerous times. A plethora of bangs were thrown. Smokes were slung. The teams ended up well mixed up as players went forward and showed some really spirited gameplay. Some moaning about none hit taking as ever, but TBH I think that such stuff usually gets raised when players get hacked off at losing each or nearly each game, which I think the banded team did. It seems odd to me to value winning over decent gameplay but there we go. Thoughts at days end. With wet foliage all damp deep green, russet and hues of autumn gold, DPM is still ten times better for Northern Europe than MTP. There are too few women involved in the sport, in winter when the girlfriends stay at home and only us fools still play in all weathers, it really stands out. There were far less kids too. The games themselves could have been less skirmishy and more complicated (says he who forgot which button to press). The marshals did an excellent job. Airsoft is an excellent way to catch up with old friends. The boy's friend borrowed a sniper and used one for the first time; he loved it. It's an idea to change what we do to sometimes perhaps, to learn how to enjoy the sport in new ways. Due to laziness, I used my old webbing comprising a large ammo pouch for spare BBs, speedloader and a mag, one fastmag, one holster and a water bottle, all in various camos. Radio on the webbing and what else do you need? Sorry for the ramble, just sharing a few thoughts arrived at after a post game Bloody Mary or two, sore back banished, cares forgotten for a while, laughs laughed and muscles aching slightly. Hope you enjoyed your airsoft as much today. It certainly beats a run around the local park for exercise.1 point -
