    Gun picture thread

Thought I'd drop the final result of a long ongoing TM Recoil project, that's finally been completed. Clone of Larry Vickers' rifle from the Modelo Prison raid in '89. More of this kind of jazz over at PenguinDynamix on IG.

  3. So I have had yet another phone call with UPS this afternoon after they promised they would call me back in an hour this morning. After talking to the support initially I was then passed to a customer support manager. They are all very polite and not in an enviable position. I expect the amount of calls they are getting and what little they can do must be very stressful. As such it is always best to be as polite as possible even though that is very hard at times. So I spent a while discussing with him the situation with UKARA and the risk of that running out. Again they will pass messages on but it is up to the Poland depot as to if they do anything about it. What was interesting was what he said is likely happening and would explain why people wait different times. Our packages will all be loaded up in trailers waiting to depart. However, regardless of whether all your paperwork is good to go and has cleared customs, there will be other packages in the trailer waiting to be cleared or missing paperwork. The trailer won't move until the last one is sorted. They may unload and sort out packages that are good to go but you can imagine this is a last resort and something they would avoid doing at all costs. James

I use mine in regular skirmishes all the time. I actually really enjoy the challenge. Made me a much better player than I ever was with an AEG. I still do just as well in terms of kills.

    Ebay Stories

We bought a double bed and the seller send two beds instead of one. Contacted them and said ‘mate you have sent me the parts for two double beds here, do you want to come and get one?’ Seller agrees to rectify the issue... by sending me a further two double beds. Now with three double beds in the hallway I decided that rather than raise it a second time and risk more double beds in boxes and never being able to get out of the house again and I gave one to a mate, one to a charity shop and sold the last one.

  7. Funnily enough, the JG Thunder Maul is based on a rifle in Ghost In The Shell, a 1995 anime movie. It predates many modern rifles that you can get in Airsoft. As someone who is 35, the rifle does appeal to me, though not enough to purchase one. (Its quite innacurate, the one depicted in the anime is a bullpup)

  14. It does vary between manufacturers and material, dye etc so in general, the likes of TMC and Emerson don't do too well. Plus RS stuff like Crye will lose it's effectiveness after a few washes. Good example video

  15. PPK will be fine, and I would be staggered if they wouldn’t allow it on a site. You’re only issue is likely to be that it won’t have a great deal of range (because it is a pistol) and being a springer you will have to cock it after each round fired - so if you miss you are almost certain to take a hit! Have a look in the classifieds for a second hand M4 RIF, literally hundreds of options, some that will include a few magazines and maybe a battery which will make your life easier.

    THE TM MWS thread

The MWS and the NGRS castle nuts use the same laylax spanner. But the castle nuts are advertised separately even though they look the same to me. Ive just taken a set of callipers to mine and that MWS buffer tube is smaller in diameter than the NGRS one. It’s not by much but there is a difference.

  18. Back in the dim distant past , yes I’m talking pre UKARA when RSOV in hong Kong was the God of online retailers I actually had one of these monstrosities , turned out it was brilliant size and shape in CQB , and it had a truly outstanding silver , orange and black tiger stripe paint job on it 🤢ended up selling it to some 28yr old obese virgin neck beard who probably still lived in his parents attic for three times the price I paid for it ! 😈😈😈👍

  20. in fairness that's just ky airsoft for you. i ended up cancelling part of an order because they hadn't sent it despite being re-stocked and available on their website (this is several months after the initial order and before covid kicked off), then then tried to trick the paypal case with the old "close the case and we'll refund you" (when paypal explicitly states doing that will mean you can't re-open if they renege on their promise) they then haggled over the postage cost, which i'd estimated using their own website for the parts in the order. eventually paypal stepped in and gave me my money back (which is why we love paypal) but i'll be trying to avoid them where possible from now on. shame because they are the only stockists for a lot of the more niche WE spares.

  21. For me it's the opposite. I nearly quit before lockdown as had a few not-so-great days in a row and was feeling burnt out and guilty about spending more time buying and selling guns, than I did actually using the damn things. Now I'm left sorely missing having a reason to get up and out first thing on a Saturday, then getting that feeling of having earned the right to sit down, maybe have some Doritos and a few beers in the evening. Again I feel guilty if I haven't worked for it.

  22. I'm still hopeful that importing from EU will stabilise and be simplified in future. Brexit on top of Covid has disrupted everything really badly. Since November I'm still waiting for parts from KYAirsoft who say they're still waiting for a shipment from WE. This is also affecting UK retailers who obviously have very low stock at the moment. Things will get better... We have EVERYTHING to look forward to

  24. I genuinely hope it's at least moderately useful. I've been in a very similar situation multiple times across my time in the hobby (give or take 15 years), some for similar reasons and some for entirely different ones. In this instance I think you've hit the nail on the head, not being able to go out and play definitely amplifies the 'is this all really worth it' element. I've nearly thrown in the towel at least 3 times in the last year, but I know full well being honest with myself that without airsoft things to enjoy/grumble about the last year would have been significantly harder because I'd have had very little to be looking forward to at the tail end of all that's going on. Waffle away, getting it out there is a damn sight healthier than having it all bouncing around your noggin entirely untamed.

  25. Thanks for the valuable input - and I mean that. The airsoft community is great for providing feedback and solutions. I guess this is the one place I can come to for some positivity and reassurance about the whole ordeal. Maybe I just need to get back out to a field get a couple of kills and get over-shot by a couple of newbies and I'll be back with a shit eating grin waiting for my order to cross the channel in a less than ideal time frame at a more expensive rate. What can I say I don't like change (not according to my CV) but I don't adapt well and I'm just waffling. I feel much better, thank you.

  26. My reply wasn’t a simple ‘if you don’t like it, find something else’. That was very intentionally the final option listed. You in no way need to defend how you wish to make your purchases, everyone is entitled to their preference. But you’ll need to answer the question yourself as to how set in your preferences you are, and whether the need to deviate from that is enough to put you off entirely. Because that’s ultimately where we are now, like it or lump it (the vast majority of us falling in the latter camp I imagine) things aren’t the way they were. If your criteria is as set in stone as you say it is, the second hand market seems to be the closest thing to a solution I can put forward. If that’s a no go for whatever reason, then I’m fresh out of ideas.

AG do make great suppressors (I have one) but of course you need to use their flashider which actually is pretty decent.

I was planning (eventually) to go with 8 mags. One in the rifle and seven in a bandolier. Or alternatively 4 in each standard m56 ammo pouch.

Thats the problem. I use semi most of the time but when you're up against sprayers who don't take their hits it can take a whole mag to get one person. I'd definitely consider a GBB only game but unfortunately I can't see that being a regular thing.

That sounds cool as F. Not too worried about length as I use an AEG version quite regularly. Although they all have the rather unusual pitfall of being too nicely made! The handguards should be plastic fantastic. On the CA they are a rock solid nylon affair. Very well made! But strangely too nice.

There’s a Laylax alternative to the Wiitech one. And more importantly it’s Red 😂. I tried it in mine and it was superb (in my parts box at the moment lol). Although I’ve got a sixG nub in there presently.

Very much ‘just another mayo AR’, but it’s my ‘just another mayo AR’. Finally got around to modifying the dust cover so it holds shut, and threw a PDI 6.05 barrel in there (no idea what effect that’s going to have until I get an opportunity to shoot it further than I currently can). Just waiting on a Mini2 replica to show up from HK (ordered mid December, so lord knows when that’ll show up) and I reckon the dishes are done. Turns out the colour of BCM FDE looks nothing like it does in person in photos 🤷🏻‍♂️.

All fitted and looking low profile. Took no time at all but make sure you have some very small punches to pop the pins bout of the foresight. I co-witnessed the holosight before removing the front and rear iron sights so it should be pretty close to sighted. Off the the UCAP Bunker in Portsmouth tonight so it will be the first skirmish with the MWS!! Exciting!

I noticed the little nub on the TNT T bucking. The modify tan is the same too. Personally I’d rather it be like that than too big like the Maple leaf. My MWS mk12 mod 0... gave the prs stock to the VFC SR-25 and went old school on the MWS... MWS CASV lingering at the bottom.

Latest upgrade is a tan Hera CQR stock. The question is- what else does it need? Scope will be black. So either: Tan free-float rail and black foregrip Or Black free-float rail and tan foregrip?
