No. Please don't buy from justbbguns!!!!!! Just look at the justbbguns thread. They're utter rip off merchants (and they lie about a load of their products too) That M4 is £80! WHAT? It will probably be made of sh*t plastic. The internals are most likely plastic as well. You won't be able to upgrade it. It looks terrible. It WILL be out ranged by everything else. I could go on... You can get a G&G Combat Machine M4 for £100-120! A battery and charger maybe £20-£30 more at the most. You're only paying £50 more and trust me you will be getting a MUCH better gun. Everyone recommends them if you have looked around at some other threads you will notice how popular they are because they're so good. Much better quality, excellent range and accuracy (performance to rival much more expensive guns) If you're gonna buy from a 'bbguns' site then I'd spend 20 absolute max on a springer pistol or something if you just want it for messing around with doing target practice. There should be a lot of useful guides around here for beginners or how to start and everything. I think it is UnrustleThineJimmies who has all the really useful links in his signature. Oh and welcome to the forums by the way.4 points -

the internal designs of airsoft guns haven't changed all that much since you stopped playing, your CA gun will be absolutely fine on a 7.4v LiPo, 11.1v will eventually burn your trigger contacts out though. regarding brands, for AEGs TM are still king of the hill, their recoil shock range are the best out-of-the -box guns you can buy at the moment. G&G will be new to you, they're a taiwanese brand that in the last few years have really shaken up the budget-mid range market by offering very high quality stuff at reasonable prices. G&P / VFC may also be new names, both are widely regarded as being high quality. The external finish of their guns will be like nothing you've seen before when compared to the older CA and TM stuff. Thankfully there's no law covering the OWNERSHIP of a RIF (realistic imitation firearm) so you'll be able to play at any site with it no problem, you will however need to avail yourself of a 'defence against prosecution' before anyone can legally sell you another one. UKARA is the easiest and most widely accepted method of doing this, and it only takes 3 games in no less than 2 months to meet the criteria.4 points -

My SMP project is moving swiftly along. No way near finished but will be by end of September. The TR4 before any changes, well this is my other one but it's standard. After a few changes, DD RIS, ICS QD SILENCER, G27 STYLE GRIP.3 points -
I love the look of PBS-4 suppressors. The design seems to shout, "We're Russian: we don't care what you think of it; you'll be smirking on the other side of your face when it's pointed at you!" And I have an aluminium one which is approx 45mm wide across the 'bottle', but with an internal diameter of about 26mm, and 'neck' OD of approx 28mm / ID 8mm - so it weighs 540g, which is bloody heavy to have on the end of even a short barrel like an AKS-74U, which is what the real steel was made for. Now Phatima, my Krinkov, is ICS and full steel, so you'd think that the weight would balance ok... but it doesn't, not with the stock extended let alone folded. It makes carrying her for long periods annoying due to being front-heavy - the stock, although steel, is after all just a couple of U section rods and a connecting piece. I had been planning a build based on a G&P aluminium receiver and a real 'steel' Izhmash manufactured wooden '74 stock which, had it still proved too light, I could have stuffed with a heavy iron bar in the space for the cleaning tool cylinder*. But the bloke whom I had asked to drill the stock out for me so that the receiver lug would fit into it (whom i had considered, if not a friend exactly, someone with whom I was on good matey terms and he was also my downstairs neighbour ffs) has disappeared with both the receiver and stock. I mean, what a cunt! He's not even into airsoft and it's not like i was asking him to do it for free either - there was a drink in it for him. V^^VGrrrrrrrrrrrrr! *I have 4 of these bars which came inside a crappy bright orange springer Beretta CX4 Storm which I bought in the hope of being able to turn it into an AEG for a Battlestar Galactica loadout - yeah, well internally it is so shit that the only way to do it would be to basically smother everything in place with a hot glue gun, so that has gone firmly on the back burner until I come up with a better idea or can be arsed to create some kind of mould I can grease up so the hot glue doesn't stick so I can then fit AEG innards into the spaces left when it hardens. In the meantime These lumps of iron have proved far more useful than i would have imagined, had i known they were inside when i bought the poxy thing. But, as is my wont, I digress... But then I picked up some of an AK-47 Beta Spetsnaz front end dirt cheap. It's plastic but surprisingly decent quality, so possibly TM, and I have a few bits spare like the end caps for handguards, rear sights, screws, bolts, body pins... so a plan began to form in my mind - a very short AK with light forward parts and heavier rear end (and by all means go there gentlemen, I may be too jaded to make the effort for such little reward, but I'm as likely to snigger at Beavis & Butt Head -esque comments as the next overgrown boy). The initial problem is that there is no steel receiver within my budget (possibly no longer being manufactured) which will fit with the TM barrel base assembly, only VFC / LCT clones. With those I can find available being much of a muchness in terms of no side rail mount, I'm fairly well decided on buying another G&P receiver - the last one I had was good and robust and then there is the few tines of extra metal sticking out the back to attach the stock, compared to the King Arms, Classic Army and TM Clones plus it has a more substantial stock-lug than the G&G, which is also magnesium, so probably lighter than I'm after. So the plan thus far will look like this, but without the trades... I also really dislike the look of Crane stocks and their ilk, but I do want an extendible stock on this gun, plus for the role I have in mind, FIBUA, a folding stock would also be a bonus (more on the 'logic' of the gun later). I do like the look of those LR300 stocks and since they are made from quite chunky metal, that would fit the plan. Like this... The other week I ordered an Ak to M4 Stock Adapter which will fit the G&P style AK Receiver, so this type of stock will work and at 750g it should do the trick of balancing the gun even folded, but when i went looking for one I came across another couple which I think could look great too, so now I can't decide... ...I wasn't sure this^^ Tanker style one would be heavy enough to balance the suppressor, but according to airsoft-club they weigh 1/2 a Kilo. But there's also this which I've seen called both HM and CM (any help with the name wba): ...which weighs 550g and the way it folds up like that is tdb for packing into a kitbag! I'll also need a vertical foregrip which needs to be light. Really it ought to combine a torch mount, because there isn't enough rail space for a separate piece of kit, but there are very few i like the look of. There's no way i'm spending $60+ on one either when i can get a better torch for <$15 I love the look of these: ...but i've only seen them @wgc and black is oos. Still, I'm going to paint it all anyway so i could get a tan one. Can you imagine that in front of an AK drum mag? Tomski gun! Not sure that I will use a drum mag, but I definitely don't want it as tall as Phatima with an RPK mag, perhaps not as tall as a '47 banana-mag, but if i was going to put up with the rattle from those 220rnd short AK hicaps, i may as well put a 2500rnd drum on it and save myself the blasted winding! If I did go for the last of these three stocks, maybe a foregrip like this would suit the style better: It'll also need a red dot, because the front and rear irons are far too close together. I have two different rear sight replacement mounts, one for a Docter MRDS and the other which puts a 3" rail above where the sights go, so i could use my C-more clone as i have a Kobra clone on order for Morena, my AK-74. I dunno though - for balance it may turn out better to have the optic above the top cover and I do have a spare side mount which i could attempt to fit, but i have to say i'm not convinced that without workshop tools i could fit it well enough to use and i also have my doubts about the width of the nut vs the width of the gearbox. I'm not sure i could bring myself to get one of those top cover mounted rails though. I dunno, i expect that if there is a centre of gravity problem I could sort it out by gaffer taping an iron rod to whichever stock i choose - i've done that on Sabine to offset her aluminium RAS vs plastic receiver and it looks fine and feels way better for her being heavier per se. Anyway people, opinions please and any suggestions for stuff i haven't mentioned would be greatly appreciated.2 points

I wanted an SMLE, only Iron airsoft made an SMLE and it had a really bad reputation. I got one anyway and had to fix everything just to get it working. I now have a fully functioning Gas powered SMLE and expert knowledge of how everything in it works. It was pretty daunting to have to take everything apart but with guides on the internet and a bit of patience it becomes easy.2 points

P90 SCAR-L CQC M249 Para (yes, you can do this. I have) Couple of pistols and shed load of mags. G36K HK 416 To be honest a lot of people will tell you that you have to have something short for CQB. Now, I'm not about to tell you that an M14 is fine (although I have seen it done and an M16) but anything as long as a standard M4 will be fine for CQB. It's not the size of your gun, it's how you use it (oo-er).2 points

Yeah NiMh is a step up from NiCad but it's still pretty stone age. I'd definitely recommend going straight to LiPo, you'll notice the difference and it'll save you buying a load of NiMh batteries that you'll end up replacing anyway! As for guns performing at site max straight from the box, even the 'higher end' (with the exception of TM, they're still kicking it at ~300fps every time) have large variations in FPS from gun to gun out of the box, websites will quote 340 / 320 / etc but that's more of a median average than an actual number for the exact gun you'll get. Some retailers (pro airsoft supplies are good for this) if you give them a call will find you one that shoots the velocity you want just by opening boxes and checking them til they find one. If they can't find one, or have limited stock for a small fee they'll normally open it up and put a new spring in for you. That said, if you're not going cheap and you want a SCAR, I highly recommend the TM SCAR, best one on the market by a country mile; recoil simulation (it has a big lead weight that moves around inside to make the gun shake), magazines stop the gun firing when empty, extremely accurate external detail and colour and the best hop-up unit available anywhere.2 points -

I would say, perhaps buy an NIMH and try the gun out on that. You could move to LiPo but I'm not sure as to whether the gun could take it or not. For cheap starter guns, you would be looking at G&G combat machine range, I have one myself. Practically bomb proof, costs pennies and out shoots a lot of guns twice the price! Welcome to the forums as well P.S everyone will recommend the G&G CM for m4. If you are looking for something else, perhaps an mp5 or whatever tell us, and also mention your budget2 points -
OK. Once again everyone is missing the point. The OP wants to know what he needs to have a shorter outer barrel on a Raider Long. This video is for putting a shorter barrel on a standard CQC length Raider but the principle should be the same: Then you're going to need to buy your new outer barrel, i would suggest a 10.5" one which will still allow you to re-use the existing front sight post. After that you're going to need a new inner barrel of the correct length (should be 300mm). Most aftermarket inner barrels are going to be tight bores so look for something as per the suggestions above which is a 6.03mm inside diameter. (check AK2M4.co.uk for these). Then you'll need to fit it (best doing this while the gun's apart for changing the outer) Then you'll need to post pictures here so we can all tell you what a wonderful job you've done/how to make it work again2 points

Hey guys n gals... My Brother (who gave me the gun) told me the bloke in the shop said there was no chance but I have found a few things like this..... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Railed-RIS-Handguard-Set-for-MP5-Airsoft-AEG-/290995079067?pt=UK_SportingGoods_Hunting_ShootingSports_ET&hash=item43c0a8879b My question is do you think they are compatible or does anyone know of one that is? I basically want rails on the front or bottom to be able to add a torch and a new style of hand grip. It looks to me that these are all to long for the front of my gun, however the long piece in the kit looks like a barrel extension, which will allow me to extend the front of the gun, is this correct? I have no experience of this type of thing and would appreciate the help.1 point

In the end all the guns fail and you will learn how to maintain its internals. So yeah it really doesn't matter all that much, externals are basically what counts as everything inside can be repaired and replaced, most of the bits that have a tendency to break are usually cheap so long as you learn how to do it yourself.1 point -

I would buy an ASG Sten Mk2 but it's not a gun that suits most people and wouldn't be ideal as your only gun. What is most important is really that you have the gun you want. If the gun you really want is only made by one company and they have bad reviews, I would still get that gun. Everything can be sorted out except not having the gun you really want.1 point

well, saved a life! my mate bought that bulldog, was firing like 2 rps ( normal aegs 15-20) 200 fps and broke after 1 month of using normally. I bought my first gun as a G&G CM16 carbine, love it to bits, seriously good. It outshoots other peoples guns that cost twice the price. I would say, invest in a LiPo, get some good eye protection. get some DPM gear, for a fiver, cheap as chips, and maybe a very cheap tactical vest. Say you buy the gun for £120, you then buy battery and charger for £50 altogether (imax and 2600mah LiPo, although you can get cheaper LiPos) and then DPM, some BBs, and an extra hi cap for £30, as well as a tactical vest for £20 and some nice boots for £30, and maybe some heroshark goggles as well as a mesh lower mask for £30. £280 for a load out that will last you years, outperform others and will just generally be AWESOME! Joking aside, don't look at it from a cheap perspective, it isn't a cheap sport, save up some money, sell some stuff and then buy something like this after being recommended what you do and don't want. DON'T BUY FROM BB GUN WEBSITES!!!!!! THEY OVERCHARGE, HAVE SHIT CUSTOMER SUPPORT AND WON'T GIVE REFUNDS WHEN YOUR GUNS BREAK!! It's true enough that you don't actually need UKARA to be legitimately in possession of an RIF, after all, there is literally no mention of UKARA in the VCR Act of 2006 which deals with RIFs legislation, the Act merely mentions that you need a legit defence reason to have one; something such as: re-enacting, museum work, film and TV productions or similar. But I'm assuming that the original thread question, and the fact that the MP5 in question is two-toned, means the user may not be covered by one of these defences. Personally, I'm covered by two of them, I use RIFs in day-to-day my work to do post-production movie special effects, and I do airsofting too, so I'm kind of 'belt and braces' where Section 36 of the VCR Act of 2006 is concerned, thus not dependent on UKARA registration anyway, which in fact is more about protecting retailers from prosecution for selling RIFs to non-legit users. Although in fairness, UKARA registration would aid in your defence if the police decided to feel your collar and the CPS went for it as well, nevertheless, as you say, several fellow airsofters corroborating your defence would probably work just as well as a UKARA registration.1 point

I cycle. This is my baby: It's a 1967 Royal Enfield Revelation. They are rare and unusual small wheeled bikes. I bought mine for £50-ish off ebay and it was a state. I had it repainted and rebuilt it with modern hub gears and hub brakes, skinny wheels and mudguards made out of laminated balsa and oak veneer. I then rode it from John 'O' Groats back to Bristol. I have 2 other bikes. There is however one more I would love to add to the collection... As some of you may have realised, I am more into WW2 airsoft. WW2 airsoft involves slightly more travel to get to games and I don't have a car anymore. I therefore need a bike that can carry a rifle and all my airsoft gear, plus camping gear. If it could then be used in the games as well and fit the period that would be awesome. The BSA Parabike. It's a folding full sized bicycle, designed to be dropped by parachute or strapped to vehicles and you can add various kit carrying accessories, such as a rifle rack, frame bag for carrying your kit and a front rack designed to carry ammo crates to the front lines.
