  1. I don't assume anything, by your own admission researching a seller is extra effort & you'd rather go to a retailer, a as I previously said, your money, your choice. The point being discussed, that many don't agree with, understandably, is the defence of cosplay has little bearing on airsoft, open to abuse by non airsofters, which in turn puts everything at risk for the genuine players. I sympathise with your situation, I too provide 24/7 care, literally day & night, to a relative, unpaid I should add, who is disabled & has dementia. Add to that I've been receiving cancer treatment since 2021, & severe orthopaedic issues mean I currently can't climb or descend a flight of stairs unaided, so I know exactly how hard it can be to attend games, or even cope with getting around some sites. (I'm determined to not let the health crap force me to quit) Cosplay would have been piss easy for me to use to buy rifs, but I don't agree with it for Airsoft rifs for all the reasons previously mentioned, maybe cosplayers and reenactors should have been made to go down the route of deacts or similar, in order to not "muddy the waters" for airsofters. & as has been mentioned, maybe people like you & I, who find themselves in difficult personal situations should have more flexible options for attaining a ukara defence. I'll put this out there as a general question, for example has anyone ever approached a site where they've started playing, but for whatever reason have had a protracted break between games, & asked the site to honour the previous games & make an allowance for the time away ?, allowing players get ukara approval.

  2. GDPR requires information held to be used for the purposes for which that information was collected Using the GDPR as an excuse to not confirm details could be a breach of the GDPR in itself - particularly if the subject provided their reference details to a third party on the basis that the third party may request verification An address is personal data, the GDPR does not prevent the release of personal data - but to do so must be valid Technically a UKARA members address could be released, but the most practical outcome would be a query of whether or not ABC1234 matches with Joe Bloggs of 1 The Avenue. A nice simple match would be a yes or no. Less simple would be that Joe Bloggs has moved, but that goes beyond an easy yes or no and becomes dependent on the policy under which the data was collected eg should it be a simple no that there isn’t a 100% match or something inbetween ? - which probably shouldn’t be in the remit of a friendly site / retailer I’m sure there have been cases highlighted on this forum of issues occurring on import etc due to to customs blockage because of an import to a work address that doesn’t match the players UKARA registered address

  4. They will not give personal information but will confirm details you provide. When you call you ask if a UKARA number is associated with 'name' and/or 'address' and if currently valid.

  5. My understanding is there are a number of friendly retailers, such as firesupport, that are happy to confirm the validity of ukara details, including the address for delivery.

I wish Airsoft companies would stop producing ARish none guns ( LevAR 15 is at least based on a real gun). I want airsoft companies to produce replicas of real guns (gas Spas 12 somebody pleas?) or at the least iconic Sci Fi guns.

  9. Your case, and to a much lesser degree mine is why we need an alternative to the UKARA system. But like I mentioned, we're very much a minority sport, and within that you and I are a minority, so options are limited. Might be easier to get a sub category within the UKARA system to reduce fuckery with imports.

  13. Update - micrometer arrived and tested 10 bbs and all were 5.95…. No doubt. So it’s either weight or finish. Im hoping to get access to some analytical balance scales from my local engineering college and they have a microscope. The mystery continues…

  14. Interesting reading chaps. I'm surprised (but thinking about it shouldn't be) that a suppressor can make a significant difference. But then I suppose I have my head close to the gearbox of my pews compared to a few feet away when lamenting the apparent silence of other's; so there's a certain amount of misconception I suppose.

  15. GDPR would stop them from giving out or confirming an address surely? only thing they can do is confirm that UKARA number belongs to the named player
    1 point
  16. None of the above, apart from being a three letter site indicator followed by a five digit number.

  17. How would you actually confirm that the UKARA number they give you is valid and not just a random number? Is there some information encoded in it? Does it have a given structure (like a VIN). Does it have a checksum or something?

  21. The ukara require 3 games in no less than given period, does it specifically state a maximum period? If it doesn't and you can show attendance beyond the minimum time surely a record of bookings is enough to obtain the defence. If a site has online booking them the bookings with a user account say, then the bookings themselves should serve as evidence enough for a ukara register entry.

  22. There was bullying going on, for real? Wish you had pointed them out so I could hunt them down. Was a good day for players as well, although my team lost all games, quite badly. Even tho I tried real hard to actually get my team to attack and advance. One of those days I guess 🤷‍♂️. Still had fun tho. Quite like these days where there are so many players. It gets a bit hectic at times but for me that adds to the fun 😅

  25. A husband and wife were having dinner at a very fine restaurant when this absolutely stunning young woman comes over to their table, gives the husband a big kiss, says she'll see him later and walks away. His wife glares at him and says, "Who the hell was that!!??" “Oh," replies the husband, "she's my mistress." “Well, that's the last straw," says the wife. "I've had enough, I want a divorce." “I can understand that" replies her husband, "but remember, if we get a divorce, it will mean no more shopping trips to Paris, no more wintering in Barbados, no more summers in Tuscany, no more Infinities and Lexuses in the garage and no more yacht club. But the decision is yours." Just then, a mutual friend enters the restaurant with a gorgeous babe on his arm. "Who's that woman with Jim? " asks the wife. "That's his mistress," says her husband. “Ours is prettier," she replies.

  27. First off, AEGs and HPA both use the same general system (pressurized gas) to power the BB. You get a muzzle noise when there is too much gas being used for a particular BB weight and barrel length, regardless of system used. One of the easiest ways to quiet your replica is to properly volume it. Second, really good shimming helps a lot (some gears are louder than others but shimming usually helps). I don't aim to make my replicas as quiet as possible (no augs filled with dynamat), but on most of my replicas you can hear nothing but the piston head hitting the cylinder head. I don't use buffers on my Arcturus replicas (they have perfect AOE already), but I'll see if I can link a video to show what I'm talking about. If you want to really know how to get an AEG as quiet as possible, go to AirsoftSniperForum and check out 1Tonne's thread, but in summary, HPA doesn't have to deal with any kind of gearbox noise, most of which is produced by the bevel to pinion gear junction, and the piston hitting the cylinder head.

  28. It's the above that I've found with my playing around with mechanicals as well. For the first point I now run a full cylinder in my v2 DMR with an M120 spring, I swapped to one around a month ago from a 4/5 and M130, and the increased air volume has 100% increased noise (just look at a G&G Firehawk to see this in action). If you're not shooting heavy BB's, and have a very good air seal with a 3/4 cylinder, an M95 spring can make a huge difference to noise. For me the biggest thing that helped my AEG on points two and three were a foam suppressor, changed the "twang" to more of a "thump", and swapping from a spring on my inner barrel to o-rings. Do what you can to try and change how the rifle "resonates", and I've found that polymer rather than metal receivers also help.

All depends how patient you are and how deep your pockets are , I’d hazard a guess and say you could probably get 75% there with a mountain of donor guns and another mountain of HK parts 😛

  30. Ppl will get the gearbox as quiet as they can. Gears whirr and don't always mesh properly regardless of shimming but it's a worthy task. Reduce the piston noise with pads or even an airbrake, match the spring and volume to reduce the slap and the muzzle report. Pad the reciever with butyl soundproofing. Silencers do reduce the muzzle report and slap noise getting out but it's a lot of work it seems. Absorbing the higher frequencies does a lot for changing the perception of the loudness and the ability of the ear to percieve direction.

  31. Looking at the classifieds pop up from members with zero feedback, and even less forum interaction - I am somewhat surprised at how easy it is to post an ad. Some are blatantly from dealers/shops/not skirmishers.

  32. Effort is clearly an issue for you, like making the effort to play a site 3 times in no less than 56 days, not exactly difficult though ? (Unless your like me & for a long time couldn't find a site I liked enough to commit to🤔) Surely the downside to your cosplay defence is you're restricted to the limited number of retailers that accept it, & potentially screwed over on the price, compared to the relative ease of EVERY retailer accepting ukara, allowing you to shop around . Also, what's the situation on importing rifs on a cosplay defense.

  33. So am I like the only person that actually asks for proof of defense for the stuff i sell? Also how is this thread still going. Just Cos goes against the the defense that was hard won and completely undermines the airsoft industry's ability to prove it can self regulate by selling RIFs to anyone and is a wonderful piece of ammunition for any pollical group who feel the need to go after airsoft.

  34. I've had maybe 3 or 4 members insist on some form of defence, initially adamant about ukara, but instead was able put together enough relevant info, as well as proof of an extensive rif armoury that shows that there's no criminality involved by adding to the collection. Obviously claims of "brand new" etc need to be taken with a pinch of salt, after all @avenger63 claims nearly everything he sells is new😏, which we know is bs. But looking at the seller, feedback, post count, & most importantly post content, can give you an idea of the type of person your dealing with, whether its a commited knowledgeable player or a surly know nothing chav will definitely be an indicator of the quality of kit their selling, & if their claims are to be believed.

  36. Even at 400fps & If it has the capacity for full auto firing, it is illegal, you are committing an offence by selling something that is technically a class 5 firearm, you need to downgrade the spring further, ideally to a sub 350fps spring, or mechanically modify it to single shot only, usually the easiest way is to change or alter the selector plate. Even without the legal ramifications, it's unlikely any site would allow it's use in its current configuration.

  37. update on the grenades, I had 3 break, friends steal 5, had one go off in my hand killing 9 of my teammates which was a comedy gold moment and generally they performed as well as I hoped they would. I'm going to knock up another load (and increase the infill on the parts that broke). they cost about £1 to make and I can't fault them.
