  2. Great day at RIFT 'The Battery' today. Less than an hour from home and being CQB we thought we'd give it a go as it's something a bit different to a normal outdoor skirmish (and less muddy). Well organised by RIFT as usual, with hot/cold drinks, snacks and hotdogs for lunch. Also a well stocked shop from White Sphere. They cap the number at 70, which I'd say is the most you can get on the site. Rules such as no pre-firing or suppressive fire, and no pyro worked really well with very few bottlenecks, and the short 30 minutes games were long enough to get involved with but not so long that you get bored. Will definitely be back, ran the MP5, L119A1 and at one point just the Glock - great fun.

  3. This morning, I braved the journey into deepest Essex and the wonderful little site that is Dragon's Lair. Having paid and got my wristband, I was having a chat with the owner when he told me that the site would soon be closing as the landowner wants to open an adventure park and, as part of that, needs the land that the site occupies. Sadness was overwhelming; Dragon's Lair is one of the oldest, if not the oldest, sites in the UK, having been there, either as an airsoft site or as a paintball site, for 38 years. However, the good news is that they have secured a much larger location, for which they have great plans, including an Afghan village and vastly improved catering. Anyway, on to a description of the day. Around 100 players were present, being a good mixture of experienced and relatively new players, covering a wide range of ages. We started with a fallback game; as attackers, we had infinite regens on our rearmost player, while the defenders had one life at each of the ditch, the fort, the bridges (the stream could only be crossed by the bridges) and the village. We pushed them out of their first position quite rapidly, the SLR causing its share of casualties. Taking the fort and crossing the stream seemed to take forever but, once across, we wrapped up the village rather rapidly, despite not noticing a live bush wookie, which added five minutes to our time. The game was then turned around; taking up a lone position on our left flank, the SLR and I held off the enemy there for a long time before I was eventually hit, whereupon I fell back to the area of the fort and took up a similar position by the boundary ditch, again holding the enemy off for ages. My sojourn by the bridges was cut short by a magnificent shot which hit the only exposed paper of me (my left elbow). Falling back to the village, I again took up position on the left flank, taking out several opponents before they ran out of time to complete the mission. After this, as the labyrinth is being dismantled next weekend, we played a game entirely inside it. Each team started with 10 players attacking into the labyrinth, with the objective being to hold the centre of the structure for longer than the other team. Once players were hit, they moved out of the labyrinth and tagged in another friendly player. As this was not a game that any self-respecting SLR would wish to be involved with (as well as it being totally unsuitable for CQB), I swapped to the rather more practical QBZ 97 for the rest of the day. This game was really good fun and utter mayhem; we won! The final games of the day were based around attacking the fort and the labyrinth; at the end of the game, if either team controlled the labyrinth and the raised walkway in the fort, they were the winners. Within the fort, neither side could go past the centreline. Before this game, five of us were asked to move to the other team in order to balance the sides. It soon became obvious why we had won the earlier games; the team were a bit sluggish and hesitant. In the first running of the game, we lost both objectives, despite trying to push the team forward; when the game was turned around so that we were now attacking from the other side, it ended in a hard fought draw. It was a good, fun day of old fashioned airsoft. While the Lair is not somewhere I play very often, I feel quite sad that it is closing as it has been a fixture of our airsofting life for years. Still, on to a bigger and better version. Weapons used: Ares L1A1 (SLR) Real Sword QBZ 97 Cybergun M1911 Tactical CO2 (or whatever it is called)

When I was a Noob, I sat at the feet of Mat Dean (Mobius Strip) and learned the way of the pistol, the secrets of upgrading the Holy Western Arms Infinity and how a .43 would cut through foliage and sting like a bastard. I tend to use .4s these days. Though I started out on fixed hop TM pistols and .25s

  9. Woah first proper day with kit that isn't 20 years old falling apart! Lessons learnt - a 1000maH LiPo isn't enough (or I'm charging it wrong) for 600 rounds on a single shot DMR running an M120. Second I need a better holstering solution for a 6 inch DW 715. Tried a miltech shoulder holster - again maybe I set it up wrong but wasn't secure enough and I couldn't access the shells as they were tucked in too deep. So I either belt holster and swap holsters between that and the Redhawk ... or continue as now to take either one out and get a better holster for the 715. Any other decent shoulder options? Third the TTI JW 4 is easily as good as any fully upgraded WA 1911/2011. Easily. Fourth I mounted a red dot, set it to circle with cross and spent a happy few hours absolutely loving using a spring tri barrel shotgun. Was absolutely brilliant. So currently I'm toying with the idea of abandoning my much loved OMON vest for some kind of bare bones MOLLE which I can mount the 2011 on (chest height), revolver on belt and whatever pouches for mags/shells/grenades. TLDR - Loving being back. Spring shotguns rule. Rig confusion 😕

  10. Has the SCAR H got an NPAS in it ? As you say days like that happen, but it sounds like you enjoyed the GBBR's on the range. I played today, did the first game with my aeg L119 A1 long while the gas mags got nice and toasty in the pouches on my plate carrier. Interesting that I used only about half a hi cap as I was very much in semi only mode from using the GBBRs so often. After that my A2 played the rest of the day , as usual I had no issues other than forgetting to regas one mag before a game . Can't beat the GBBRs !

  11. Another weekend, another skirmish at Worthing Airsoft. I was intending to use the m40a5 today, either with my HK45 as a sidearm, or my mac11 + mk23 combo, but as I was experimenting on the range with my chrono, the power was dropping with every shot. Issue with running a gas bolt action in the cold is that the cooldown effect of each shot just compounds and makes it worse, so the mags were progressively getting colder and the ambient temperature was making it worse. So that was out, but I at least had my HPA VSR as a backup so I set that up at 2.25J and took it out with the HK45 as a sidearm, as if I'm running a line I don't like using the mac11 because the shoulder rig I run it on constantly catches the HPA line and it's a pain to deal with (especially when you're trying to move as little as possible so people don't see you) Anyway, I went out for the first game which was a large, multi-objective game that would last until lunch. Brilliant, I love these games! I took a spot in a holly bush to overwatch a path, though at this time of year there aren't many leaves on them! It was a good spot to hold though as I single-handedly held the path against a lot of players that just couldn't locate where the shots were coming from. Some BBs were sprayed in my general direction, but with me low to the ground and surrounded by foliage nothing was coming close to me. I eventually got taken out when some regulars led a massive group of enemy players down the path. I managed to take out the two regulars, but was taken out by one of the other players as there was a wave of about 12, so one of them was bound to spot me after I opened up with the GBB pistol! I respawned, grabbed two teammates and went to cut them off again, but there were only about 3 of us and we weren't able to stop them from getting into a base and digging in. I then tried to go around them, got a bit lost and went out of bounds where I bumped into another sniper on the other team. I said we were out of bounds so we walked back in game and had a gentleman's agreement to not shoot each other, but he ran off and told his team I was there so I got taken out pretty fast. Respawned again and headed the other way this time, as their team were firmly entrenched on the other flank, so I thought I could punch through a gap by going the other way. I hugged the boundary and came up to their respawn where I went to ground. I didn't shoot, because spawn camping is bad, but I wanted to wait until nobody was in their spawn so I could cross over, get to the fence line, move along to another base and shoot them in the back, as they wouldn't be expecting shots to come in from behind. One player respawned and almost walked on top of me, but thankfully due to the power of my KMCS ghillie suit just kidding, I run a cape ghillie that I built off a webtex concealment vest, but it worked well enough for the enemy player to pass me by. I let him get clear of me, before I scurried across their now empty respawn and got to my fence line. My blue armband was on my right arm, but they could only see me from the left, so I made it look like I was a yellow player and hoped I didn't bump into anyone who would recognise me and realise I was on the other team. I think I only passed one player this way, who didn't recognise me and I got into my sniper spot. Problem was, I was fogged up and the sun was in my direction, so I couldn't see anything through my scope. I got a few players as I tried to get my heart rate down and stop sweating quite so much, then as I heard the 10 seconds left call, I took out one last guy who was chatting with his friends and then the game over was called. It was funny, because while I was in that position, a yellow player spotted me as he was heading back to the safe zone to get his lunch and gave me a nod and mouthed "well played". It was very amusing, but it was also frustrating because our team just wasn't really doing anything. Every time I made a play, there might've been 2 or 3 other people around. Apparently most of our team were sitting in a pair of bases that the enemy team just... avoided because they didn't have objectives there. It also didn't help that the spawns weren't far enough apart / far enough from bases, so there was some spawn camping happening on both sides. I then decided to set my VSR back to 1.1J. The reasons are twofold; first, it's a lot quieter on 75psi than it is on 130psi. I think it's louder than my gas m40a5 when firing at 2.3J. Secondly, I found that Worthing Airsoft is a bit too... twiggy. The foliage is almost non-existent at this time of year, so there's very little to hide in, but there's a lot of twigs everywhere. The flora at Worthing Airsoft is lots of coppices, so while there aren't many leaves on them, there's lots of twiggy bits everywhere and threading long range shots is a bit weird. I'll still run the m40a5 at 2.3J, but with the VSR, the difference in sound signature just makes 1.1J the better call. I'll keep it as a backup gun. Didn't play the afternoon games as the guy who drives us up there has an issue with his ankle and can't really play, so me and the other guy decided to call it early as it doesn't feel fair to drag it on. Also, I couldn't put my finger on it, but the atmosphere today was off and all in all it felt a bit weird. I don't think there was too much enthusiasm to play on either side today, I think the spawn camping made people annoyed and a good chunk left at lunch, and... I don't know, it's hard to put into words, but there was this uneasy feeling looming over the game day today. Might be heading to Driver Wood next weekend, so it'll be good to get out to another site. Will probably use the opportunity to run a DMR as I like their DMR rules and my HPA m21 really prefers running at DMR power than anything else.

  14. All for the positive vibes, but peeps have handed over cash a year ago, Admin have been linked, replies to other threads have been made, and not even an acknowledgement of the requests for an update. Yet we have the very entertaining Macks dreamers thread. As THE forum for seasoned players and newbies, I would hope we represented the respectable side of the hobby. Wanted or not, the forum admin/owners really need to step up on this one, even if we are only dealing with a few fivers here and there. I did a charity T shirt fundraiser for the Tsunami in Japan years ago when I was an Admin of a Jap car club that ran to a fair chunk of money. Transparency of the funds was of upmost importance. I even DMd pics of envelopes and addresses as part of proof of postage. I might even have the spreadsheet somewhere LOL. Now if you don't mind, I have 20 minutes left of Navy Seals to watch and I am desperately trying to think of a reason not to buy myself a TM MP5 for my birthday. 😆

  22. Well, where do I start? Probably 30 mins before I actually got there TBH, the site is right on my doorstep so I have no excuses. Crono'd my Scar-H GBBR on 2.5's & it was too hot for the site tried it on 2's with the same result, safety brief was called just as I was muttering FFS under my breath so after the safety brief I took out my Scar-L AEG from the boot of my car & it crono'd just on or under the site limit so played a game using that, got a couple of kills & respawned a couple of times but I wasn't really feeling the motivation to continue & felt I was nursing a sore back a bit much to enjoy my day. I'd taken my Scar-H GBBR, XM177 GBBR, Scar-L AEG, but by my last respawn I'd already decided to give the day a miss, so took my pews to the range with extra gas, extra batteries & extra bb's where I spent the next hour or so flinging 3's, 2.5's & some 2's down range. Despite not fielding the GBBR's I definitely felt the AEG to be a bit Meh in comparison to the plinking I'd already done with the GBBR's. On a positive note, the GBBR's had good range although I need to set the hop on the XM177, & I collected a few of my other pews from our local tech which I played about with too... An L85A1 was in for a wee fix & is now shooting with fantastic range, realistically 50m but bb's were going past the 60m & pretty close to the 70 mark but with no accuracy (yet), an SL8/9 was in for a repair as it was firing on full auto despite being a semi (now a single shot only & range was almost as good as the L85), an AR57 was a bit hot but shoots pretty good now (Mag changes were awkward but I recon a change of sights with sort that) & lastly a G36 was ok but nothing special (will never be fielded anyway). Not a 100% successful day TBH but these things happen, next chance to play soldiers will be in March.

  23. The C7 build inspired me to put my Classic Army M16 back together and rattle-can it (again) ... I might add some more stripes to break up the stock a bit more and add some extra contrast, but it came out quite well considering it's cold and windy outside so it wasn't ideal conditions. Now the only problem is that darned thing isn't feeding from my Lonex mags The feed nozzle is pushing down enough to release the normal 4 BB's through (which fall out when I release the mag) so it's not the mag positioning that's the problem - I guess the cylinder's nozzle isn't moving back far enough? I can see it move when I fire. Bah humbug. @Egon_247 you might like the new FW video... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwPsgXZpSXI Ian's preferred version very much in line with yours

  26. I have the xcortech mk2, and one of the guys i play with has the acetech. Brightness wise they are very much the same on the green tracers we've used. I used red tracers indoors and they weren't as bright as the green but I can't remember which brand they were so it's not really as fair comparison, havingbsaid that up to the approx 20m ranges indoors it was fine. Outdoors I always go green as they glow beyond the flight time. I can't fault the build quality of my xcortech, its usually used inside a mock suppressor but inhave used it exposed and its taken all knocks and still works fine.

  29. I have both and there's not much between them in terms of brightness. For green bbs they are both spot on, although I've never tried the bifrost with red bbs Xcortech have 2 versions of the mk2, one for red bbs and one for green bbs. they will light up the opposite color but not as brightly also the xcortech uses a micro usb for charging and the bifrost uses usb C I've heard very good things about the acetech brighter C for green bbs and it's a popular one at the site I go to regularly

The first game day I took my GBBR too, I started filling my mags with bbs and gas, then they called the safety briefing. all stood around listening to the usual, before an almighty boom went off; right where I had left my kit… filled gas mag was left in the sun, for a short moment of time and the mag was no more 🥲 it was a 25 degree morning, and a costly mistake! as said above, a more immersive experience and great fun. Post up how you get on if you don’t mind!

Used to sneak out into the estuary with him and my brother to go camping on the medway forts (Darnet & Hoo) which was a bit naughty even in the 80's. Sailing out on an overloaded, puncture ridden Avon rubber dinghy with a clapped out 4hp Johnson outboard motor, that I don't remember ever making a journey of any length without breaking down no matter how much he tested it in a bucket the day before. Fun times. 🤣

  37. Yeah the gearbox is the same, but the grip covers the whole gearbox so when the motor is installed you can't see it where the pinion meets the bevel. I cobbled some tube etc together to position the motor, shimmed the bevel then I'll sort motor height in due course. Maybe this eve...

    Am I the ass hole?

trying to haggle an offer is fine, and £28 doesn't seem to be an insultingly low value imo.- not an asshole likewise refusing offers isn't really an issue. -not an asshole agreeing to original pricing because you still want it is fine too. -not an asshole putting paypal fee's on top of a listed price. -it shoulda been part of the listed price or at least made clear one way or the other, so kinda an asshole maybe but not in a big way. leaving feedback on a sale that didn't go through? - sorry but that's an asshole move tit for tat feedback- you attack someone can't blame em for responding. overall verdict- seller should have simply included paypal fee's in original price (or at least been clear on what the deal was). any time i list a posted price that is the all-in and if i get a few £ less than that because of paypal fees well that's the cost of a safe payment service you can use with random internet strangers. however you should have just walked away and called it at that. i'll be honest, i'd have just paid the fees. indeed i have done it voluntarily when an ad asks for f&f i just pay goods and services with a little extra to cover the fees, i think of it as insurance should something go south.

    Classifieds Rules

The Law Your sale must be in compliance with Great British law, especially relevant; the VCRA, which has laid down various restrictions on the trade of Imitation Firearms (IF) and Realistic Imitation Firearms (RIF). Remember, the seller is responsible for checking and verifying the legality of a sale. Please see the UK Law section of the forums if you need any guidance on this and open a topic if you're unsure. None of the below is legal advice. In short: As a seller you are liable for who you're selling to. No airsoft gun can be sold to someone under the age of 18 irrespective of whether it's 2-tone or a RIF (i.e. black/realistically coloured) As a seller you must take precautions to satisfy yourself that who you're selling to has a valid defence against prosecution for owning an airsoft gun - for the majority of cases this means the person you're selling to should be an airsoft skirmisher. Some things you can check are: Skirmishing site membership UKARA database membership Photographic proof that a member is a skirmisher (i.e. pictures of them playing) In the interests of protecting the right to play airsoft in the UK, please be diligent when coordinating your sale, ensuring you adhere to the points above. Be responsible and reasonable in your requests for information on another player - do not ask for more information than you require or would be happy to give yourself, but do satisfy yourself that who you're selling to is a legitimate player. Forum Specific Rules (action will be taken against your account for disregarding these) Failure to comply with the rules will result in you receiving a ‘Forum Warning’. Warnings start with the verbal kind and steadily increase in respect of seriousness/repeat offences right through to a ban and deletion of all posts and topics along with your user account. Find out more about ‘Forum Warnings’. All sales / trades must take place between two adults (i.e. over 18 years of age). All sales and swaps must use the sales template. Add additional information to let buyers know your trade preferences or location for collection. This will help sell your gun or gear as listing without pictures rarely sell. All sales must have an asking price. The price must be in UK Sterling £. All sales and swaps advertisements must have a picture, all pictures must be taken by the seller. Do not use a retailers pictures - take your own. There must be at least one photo with a piece of paper showing your AFUK forum name and date next to the item(s) for sale/swap (this updated rule is effective from 01/12/2024). Do not use Photoshop or other editing software to include your username and date, this is what scammers do and will result in adverts being deleted from the Classifieds. Using photos with different usernames from other forums, and links to other forum photos, is no longer acceptable. You must have access to the item that you're selling. You cannot be selling items that you do not own, are not able to post immediately or being sold on the behalf of someone else. You must include a picture of every item that you are selling. Any advert that appears to be from a retailer will be removed. You must communicate with your buyer/seller once a transaction is initiated (i.e. ignoring their PMs or topics asking what's going on with a sale/purchase). If you complete a trade/sale of any kind via the forums, please leave feedback for the seller/buyer, this allows us to see who we can trust or who we need to keep an eye on. You may leave feedback by going here. Any suspicions about the item(s) or seller should be sent via PM to a Moderator. Use the "Report this advert" link at the bottom of the listing and include a message (this will flag an issue for Moderators to look at). Transaction Advice (action will not be taken against your account for disregarding these) When buying or trading, we recommend that you take down the following details of the other party: full name, address, telephone number, email, alternate telephone number (work or mobile). It is wise to check the address is legitimate and that the telephone number is answered by the person you are dealing with. We also recommend that you request a photo of the items with a piece of paper next to it with the sellers username and contact details written on. We recommend PayPal for online transactions due to their excellent buyer and seller protection. Bear in mind that methods such as cheque, postal order, bank transfer or other may not be protected and as a result of using them you may not be able to retrieve your losses should anything go wrong. If you are paying for goods via PayPal, please make sure your payment is labelled for goods/services. Sellers may ask you to label your payment as a gift to avoid PayPal fees. However, this will prevent you from being able to access any of the PayPal buyer protection services (i.e. if something goes wrong, your money cannot be refunded). Should sellers ask you to do this, it may be better to offer to pay the fees out of your own pocket instead. Parcelforce 48 will post RIFs if you declare the contents as an airsoft gun. We recommend them as a courier. Disputes Given the nature of trades on these forums, it's impossible for a Moderator to mediate a trade effectively without reading your personal messages (something they cannot do and will never be able to), but if you build up a reputation for being an unscrupulous buyer/seller and are non-communicative you may receive actions against your account. Legal Disclaimer Whilst we do moderate the forums, it is not down to us to verify whether someone is legitimate or not, and whilst we will make every endeavour to ensure all our users are keeping within the law, you use these forums at your own risk and we accept no responsibility for any loss or other damages that should transpire as a direct or indirect result of your continued use of our forums. By participating in our Classifieds section in any way shape or form, you accept that you are doing so at your own risk and hereby indemnify http://www.airsoft-forums.uk (also known as Airsoft Forums UK/AF-UK/AFUK), its moderators, admin and any and all associated parties from any and all responsibility or liability that may transpire due to your continued use of these forums, to the full extent of your right to do so by law. Help If you find any of the above rules unclear or would like to ask us a question please PM a Moderator. We would much rather you contacted us than just went ahead and did something. Thank you.
