Thrice Amen. I don't know of any specifics, they just didn't really survive the late 2010s for some reason. When I started around 06 they were ramping up (initially more kits for plastic TMs I think?) and they were the go-to metal ARs for years in the late 00s and early 10s, tons of variants all with darn authentic trades plus accessories from UGLs down to the small parts. They probably peaked in the Magpul era, pumping out tons of AEG and WA system GBB ARs based on US civilian builds of the time, often with PTS plastic attached. Then PTS lost the Magpul license and at some point Cybergun or whoever has the Colt trades license agreement clearly put their big old foot down; around then G&P just stopped making anything vaguely based on any real firearm of any type. Granted that was the trend at the time (around the initial popularity of Keymod) and G&G/ICS/VFC were all doing the same, but G&P failed to move with the times and just faded away apparently. They released a batch of Mk18s in brown a few years back that got terrible reviews and very briefly had a 'recoil system' which had the same reception. E&C have completely taken over what was the G&P domain in my estimation (military AR AEG focus). An awful lot of the same guns and parts as G&P used to do, I don't think it's the same operation though. Edit - Looked up their IG: https://www.instagram.com/gnpairsoft/?hl=en Barely a post for years now. Forgot how hard they leant in to the Salient craze.. that won't have helped the business. Maybe they only do silent OEM stuff now? It can be comparatively easy work for an established factory. Not sure.2 points

Cyma G36 - worth upgrading?
Gunboat Diplomat and one other reacted to Adolf Hamster for a topic
Tbh if he's happy with the external build quality then there's nothing wrong with spending a bit to jazz up the internals and frankly the g36 is an under represented platform, guess folk feel their use as a common rental gun must somehow mean they're bad or not worth a bit of spicing up. In terms of the actual spicing up there's 3 main avenues to consider: 1. Mosfet, something like a perun ab++/gate warfet or equivalent mosfet with precocking could do a lot of work with the percieved snappyness. On the v3 you can access the trigger contacts from the outside of the box to do the wiring but you'll need to be familiar with a soldering iron. 2. Motor, budget seems to preclude the brushless options, but a decent neo brushed motor paired with the above will also add to snap and/or auto rof If you dont go too crazy with the end rof figure then a plastic toothed piston isn't the end of the world, indeed there are those that would argue it's a good thing to have an intentional weak spot that lets a cheap part die to save more expensive parts. The stock shimming will likely be ok, improvable yes, likely to explode or cause serious issues no, so it could be skipped depending on your confidence level working on the box.2 points -
Need buying advice on a regulator
Adolf Hamster and one other reacted to Krisz for a topic
1. I run my pistols on 100 psi and they shoot about ~335 fps on 0.20. I assume your bolt is heavier than any of my pistol slides so in theory you may need higher pressure to achieve the same output. I'd go the other way around actually and would start from 75-80 psi because lof of people run their MP7/MP9's on those pressures for indoor which still gives them average 270-280 which is absolutely enough for shooting people close range. But my pistol on 80 psi is sluggish (alu slide is too heavy for it) so it's gonna be trial and error in your case as well. I don't think I'd go above green gas pressure (average is 110-120 psi?) especially not in summer. Basically the more pressure you put on your internals the more they will wear. An HPA engine is a completely different animal compared to a gas gun but going above 120 psi is not recommended even on them and not needed anyway. 2. US is standard but EU fitting does exist. They aren't compatible with each other. 3. I woudn't buy cheap regulator but a Balystik HPR800C or something similar should be enough. Also, that new Airtac regulator can't be bad either.2 points -

I've only been there once for an evening game and that was the impression I got. After arriving late due to trains being cancelled the guy running the place seemed more interested in moaning about covid (it was just after lockdown) than actually answering any questions. For example when I asked about pyro rules the answer I got was "I wouldn't bother, nobody takes them". Agreed. I've paid to play not sit around in the safezone chatting2 points -

It’s really nice, with good strong recoil. I’ve had a few A1’s and A3’s over the years, but always ended up selling them. I’m intending to keep this one and just finished putting my M203 on it. Just waiting for my trademarked lower coming from KYAirsoft and then it’s all done. As far as GBB M16’s go, for me, WE is the only real option. I think the Golden Eagle one is plastic and the only other option is to build one if you can find all the relevant parts. So if VFC are going to release a range of GBB M16’s, there’s definitely a gap in the market for them. There’s a clearer photo of them from VFC’s Facebook page today. Still can’t tell if they’re gas or not, but I’ve asked the question and waiting for someone to reply.2 points

It's actually insane how fast you have to be to get a good deal. I was lucky once and snagged a Nuprol Operator 60L Duffle Bag for £15. It's a way better fit for me and my gear simply because of the internal dividers and backpack straps. Carrying a 50L holdall in one hand is a right pain because of how bulky it is especially when you have a rifle bag in the other hand.1 point

Thanks all for your suggestions. @Joe142 @Shamal I agree about 5.11 kit. Had a few bits over the years for airsoft and while I was serving., and found them to be of decent, rugged quality. Always keeping an eye out for a bargain on the 190l CAMS bag. This is what I bought earlier in the year after, like you @TheFull9 not finding anything suitable at my go-to kit retailers, and most of the gun stores I've used also coming up blank. I like the design and amount of storage in the DSLEAF, especially for mags, but the rifles never feel properly secure and, with two rifles and 7 gas mags, the stitching on the shoulder strap gave way. @gavinkempsell unfortunately, a couple of the sites I go to have a bit of a walk from the car park to the safe zone, so having a suitably sized, sturdy grip is necessary. @RostokMcSpoonsgood shout! Heading there now.1 point

THE HELPFUL BIRD A man was hiking through a large forest when he suddenly found himself surrounded be a huge pack of snarling wolves! Shaking uncontrollably with fear, the man said in a trembling voice, "I'm in big trouble!!!" But just then a little bird landed on his shoulder and said in a soft pleasant soothing voice, "No, you are NOT in big trouble. Here's what you can do. See that large male wolf with the brown birth mark on his head? That's the leader wolf 🐺, the head of the pack. Take that branch lying on the ground beside you and stab that leader wolf with the sharp end of the branch right on that birth mark as hard as you can." "Thank you kind bird",said the man, as he bent down, picked up the stick, walked over to the leader wolf and stabbed the sharp end of the stick with all his might right on the wolf's birthmark. The bird then said, "NOW you're in big trouble!"1 point -

I think that is a pretty standard feature of casual weekend skirmish games. The mix of players from regulars to first timers and young kids means effective grouping is a matter of luck as much as anything else. You'd likely enjoy a milsim type event over a normal skirmish day as these are more tactical affairs.1 point -

Had another good day as Spec Ops MK on Sunday. Despite being the only field we've ever played at, we never seem to get bored of its compact woodland map and if anything familiarity is starting to create some new gameplay options (beyond running like a headless chicken into or away from fire). Game two was a good case in point, being a flag based bridge building game. The assault team are tasked with placing three flags in three corresponding barrels spaced equidistant along a line dividing their half of the map from the defenders, only once all the flags are in can they advance across the imaginary bridge. As soon as the start whistle went me and the boy knew precisely the point we wanted to get to; a defensive barricade in a metal shack village named PingPing City that provides overwatch on one of the barrels, attackers either have to cross our line of fire at 90 degrees or skirt some buildings and come at us head on. This little set up allowed us to keep the barrel flag free and rack up the kills for what felt like an age. In the end an enthusiastic rental youngster ignored a hail of BBs pinging off his body and placed the flag. I mentioned it to the marshals, but let it go as by that point we'd been overrun anyway. After lunch the boy decided to swap sides so he could play with some of his mates who were on the arm-bands team. First time we've played opfor aside from the usual Zombie games. I got the first kill on him, basically trading BBs at 40 or so meters until one of us got hit. After that though he racked up his tally, killing me three times during an attempt to clear his team out of a defence. Then later delivering one of the most painful shots of the day, shooting me right on the tip of my nose. Bit of drama on the day, caught the tail end of an angry exchange after some chap's tooth had been shot out at close quarters by some other guy. Not sure if he'd been wearing face protection or not but it all ended quietly if not peacefully. Food was excellent as ever. Double Eagle was reliable as ever. Might start thinking about some winter gear as we head into the October games.1 point -
Cyma G36 - worth upgrading?
Gunboat Diplomat reacted to Leo Greer for a topic
Are you already using an 11.1v? I don’t know what the spring strength on those G36s is like, but if you can get away with it an 11.1v LiPo is by far the easiest and most effective trigger response upgrade. If you suffer from double shots, you can short stroke and increase spring power, or even shorten the inner barrel and increase spring power.1 point -

One of the many great things about the Depot 1.0 site (really must try 2.0) is that the direction of their "down the middle" slice changed from day to day: horizontal, vertical, or one time along a diagonal. It's a small thing, but it demonstrates that they weren't just doing things by rote over and over.1 point -

This last Sunday I had the first rather average morning I've ever had at Driver Wood. They seemed to be experimenting with a longer (2.5 hrs) game rather than two shorter games and a break- fine - I'm happy with that. At least 30 minutes extra game time packed into the morning, and of course people free to head to the safe zone for a break whenever they wish. What was less good was the decision to relocate the team spawns to the far corners of the playing area in order to spread people out all around the map. The Orange team spawn was hidden in a dense maze of rhododendron right on the edge fo the map - I genuinely spent 15 minutes walking in circles trying to find it, and even the times I managed to locate it first time, it was a tedious 5-10 minutes trudge from the middle of the playing area there and the same back. I know there is a balance to be struck - ultra quick re-spawns can be equally frustrating if you are trying to dominate and take objectives and the enemy players that you take out are re-emerging under a minute later (knowing exactly where you are). But being taken out of a game for 10+ minutes once you are hit is just boring. Driver Wood doesn't seem to suffer endemic cheating, but yesterday morning was different - with most players choosing to retreat a few hundred meters when hit, wait in a bush for a few minutes, and then come back into play rather than trudge off to try to locate the spawn. And frankly, I sympathise! Lets hope that they stick with the 2.5 hour games to maximise playing time, but have a careful re-think about spawn locations and suitable playing area size for the numbers.1 point -
The TM MK23 is probably the best fit for you. They "can" be upgraded to do some pretty mental stuff but a stock TM Mk23 is very quiet and will happily flick a 28 at least 30 metres without any fuss. When you start looking at clones, STTi, ASG and Novi - They are that, a "clone" and for the most part, genuinely all the same gun. I wouldn't brand Novi stuff as "bad" more that it's sold as "ready" out the box and people get miffed if they need to do anything, he sells box loads so there will always be bad feedback flying around compared to those qho quietly buy an STTi for £40 and expect a long build up. I'v personally had 3 STTi's, an ASG and have finally settled on a TM. I've done some mods, Hadron TDC, flamingo bucking, SBA suppressor and removed the 2 stage sear and I'm very happy with it as it is ultimately "just" a sidearm backup pistol.1 point

Same as when guns have "custom" paintjobs. It's not that, if they are done well or by a known name that has a reputation for quality work, that such things aren't of negligible value. It's that as you say, you've got 2 kinds of people who will be looking at the advert: -people who share your taste to whom the custom work may well be worth more money. -people who don't to whom the custom work is at best something that adds no value or at worst (especially the case with paint jobs) an annoyance that will take effort to revert/replace. Needless to say the second group is going to be significantly larger than the first.1 point -
So this 👆is the fruit of my labour. I'm going to post a bunch of pics I took during the build and put a parts list together to bore you all with, but today was about getting it onto the range to see what it could do. A couple of weeks ago, as an out-of-the-box M4A1 Carbine, it was hitting out to 60m on .28g BBs and Ultrair, with a good degree of accuracy, which, for me means hitting a Figure 11, roughly centre-mass, at that distance. Made me smile, and smile and smile. Today, testing this iteration was, well, a huge disappointment. Although the range was like-for-like on .28s and green gas, I just could not get any consistency in shots. One would go straight as a die, resulting in a nice metallic 'clink' off the target. The next would fall short, barely half the distance, then another would fuck off into the stratosphere. Adjusting the hop made very little difference to the randomness of the shots. The only internal changes I made were a different Zet plate (which worked brilliantly) an enhanced nozzle return spring and a different hop nub, all by BavTac. I can only assume that, while replacing the hop nub, either the nub or hop rubber is not sitting squarely. Adding weight to this theory is the fact that, with the can on, BBs were shattering before leaving the barrel, or dribbling out like it had a prostate problem. Any other thoughts on root cause before I whip the tools back out? On the plus side, chucking in .3s and .32s, still with regular green gas, when a shot did go straight, it was heading to the 70m target, so I'm hopeful that when I get this sorted, it'll be chucking white plastic death out to decent distances. Oh, and IMHO it looks gorgeous. Yes, it's another URG-I, but it's still a handsome beast. Gas testing will have to wait. I now have 8 variants to try in the name of science...and bored curiosity.1 point

Don't Lancer Tactical use a Zion Arms Nebula MOSFET inside the Gen3 AEGs? Could it possibly be a LT rebrand? It would be interesting as LT already have a PCC, the LT-35 Battle X. £210 off PB for a full metal PCC base sounds like a half decent deal and i've read good things about the MOSFET from the LT Gen 3 reviews. For me, I'm not a big fan of the receiver design. I was hoping to find it elsewhere but it looks like it's a PatrolBase exclusive thing.1 point

I don't wanna take my mags apart again to have a look as they are all working perfectly at the moment. All your pics seem fine and everything is where it should be. However, and it's hard to tell, but the top of the gasket here doesn't look right. Is it fitting snuggly? When I was having my leaks its was to do with the gasket being very slightly deformed. The leaks I experienced went from a very slight leak to a major pissing of gas as the more I fiddled with the mag, the more I was making the gasket worse. Once I got my new gakests, I smeared all the rubber parts with silicon grease like this - https://www.godive.net/products/silicone-grease/ - and it worked perfectly. Are getting you leaks from the mags from the same place where I bought my leaking mags.1 point -
