@Beorn You can certainly get a good performer for under £300. Keep in mind that tweaking can improve or ruin performance. Best to wait until you have a backup before tinkering. Its not an exact science I'd suggest to find something that you like the look of and then search reviews followed by asking the forum for opinions. Remember that there can be variation in performance from different copies of the same model so take reviews with a pinch of salt unless there is a definite design flaw found. In theory the more expensive models should be more consistent between copies but up to a point. The performance of our airsoft toys is not linearly proportional to the price so don't let the cost influence you too much. The Honey Badger and Specna Arms Edge have good reputations so they both would be good options. ...Oh and as for space, after a few years you just keep them in a pile 🤣

Suffice to say that nothing in this thread has persuaded me to move away from a butt load of paper pyro. Apart from anything else I do so love showing myself up as the arthritic mess I am by attempting to yeet a bang at the enemy only for it to fall pathetically short and blow me up instead. Good times.

  7. @karlos103 Judging by your posts so far, you seem to have developed a classic case of 'upgrade-itus'. It's a terrible affliction, most contagious within the Airsoft community with a 75% infection rate between players (you need 'X' for that gun, mate!), an 85% rate within Airsoft shops (let me sell you this shiny thing - it'll double your range!), and most horribly, a 99.95% rate within the Tokyo Marui owners community (because TM is perfection out the box! Just needs a few upgrades...!) . Symptoms include wanting to 'upgrading' their gun without shooting it, spending more than the value of the gun in their quest to make it shoot amazeballs, a penchant to tell everyone how their 'upgrades' are the bestest and telling all others should be fitting the same to their guns. Infection long term generally ends with various degrees of disappointment (75% of cases), frustration (90% of cases), a drained bank balance (100% of cases) and questioning whether it was all worth it in the end to shoot tiny plastic balls at each other (80%). A very small number cases (<5%) report that the player reaches a type of 'Airsoft Nirvana', whereby all their guns work beautifully, reliably and the player moves past the need to acquire anything further. No one within the TM-owning community has been identified as reaching this state ...😜 Jokes aside: Cracking open gearboxes, replacing electronics, new barrels and hop units - upgrading everything without a frame of reference (i.e. playing experience with your gun in 'stock' configuration) could very well lead to disaster. Many upgrades could be described at best as 'side-grades', and there are a number that can be detrimental to performance. You won't know this if you've replaced a sizeable chunk of the stock parts on your gun without using it for a good few playing days first. Go out and play a couple games with what you have already - see how it works, where it falls short compared to other players, and what you want to improve. Upgrade ONE THING at a time, test it thoroughly at your next game day, and see if it actually improves anything. Oh, and circling back to your original question, G&G hop units (both dial and rotary) work just fine. No need to replace until broken. But we all know you'll want to replace it anyway.

  13. If I was unclear, I'm not advocating for a ban on BFGs. I have 4 of the things. I said I'd understand it. Pineapple on pizza is perverse. Not wanting to have to spend time dealing with lost-maybe-stolen BFGs on a regular basis isn't unreasonable. It would be better to identify and evict thieves, but short of that, removing opportunity is a very regrettable amelioration that can be applied. I'd be miffed if I couldn't use my BFGs, but I wouldn't stop playing because of it. Would you?

  14. I remember seeing reports of other kit being stolen in safe zones, including helmets and pistols; should those be banned as well? After all, they could equally be considered “flavouring”. Banning BFGs because people might steal them is perverse. I disagree as to why we are at Airsoft sites. We are there to play a game; bangs, whether they are BFGs or paper pyro, are very much part of that game at sites where they can be used.

If you want to get information about whole firmware, visit my other advert, where I offer firmware without hardware! I offer a programmed RFID Domination Timer prototype - a timer in the style of a chess clock for Airsoft / Paintball with firmware for 2 teams - BLUE and RED, which play against each other and try to occupy a point and then keep it for the longest time possible. A player of a team occupies a point by placing his RFID card to the RFID reader, which beeps to announce the change on the point, lights up the team's LED and starts adding time to the team in seconds. If the card is placed by a member of the second team, the time of the first team will stop at the current value and the time of the second team will start counting + the color of the active team will also change on the LED point. The maximum time for listing on the LCD character display is 99 hours, 59 minutes, 59 seconds. Stopwatches are thus also suitable for several-day events such as LARP, MilSim. Suitable especially for Capture The Hill / DOMINATION game mode. I am also supplying the machine code for the Domination Timer, which is already loaded into the unit. This will make it possible to clone the program to any number of other devices that you can create, and they will respond to identical RFID cards with identical configuration, so it is possible to create several Domination Timerpoints in your gaming area that will work independently of each other. Together with the Domination Timer, RFID cards are also supplied, 7x for each team, 2x for the Referee and 1x for the Eraser. With his card, the referee can stop the game and neutralize the point (the current times remain written on the display), the counting is reactivated by applying the team member's card. If Eraser applies his RFID card, the point is reset to 00 h, 00 min, 00 sec. The hardware is mounted on a PCB (104x101 mm), while the main components (Arduino Nano, LCD display and RFID reader) are mounted on pin strips. Thanks to this, the components can be replaced with new ones in the event of a malfunction without the need for soldering the components, they are simply pulled out of the slot after unscrewing the component from the spacers. The DPS also has the option of adding two pullup 10K resistors for the I2C bus SDA and SCL signals. System power via microUSB, average consumption approx. 50 mA at 5V power supply. The system can run for about 36 to 40 hours on a 2000 mAh power bank (depending on whether the LED is active - higher consumption, etc.). The device is plug n' play, just connect the power supply and operate. I do not offer DPS design or source code for this product. The DPS has mounting holes in the corners, which are primarily used for distance posts, but adapters (extendre) can also be used for the possibility of mounting on the wall, etc. The device must be operated indoors, the device is not supplied with a box, the device is neither waterproof nor waterproof. Domination Timer has acrylic front plate that is transparent, there are used extra pillars to hold it on PCB. Supplied hardware (hardware soldered onboard): PCB 104 x 101 mm Arduino Nano V3.0 (Old Bootloader) NXP RFID RC522 (13.56 MHz) Passive buzzer (2 kHz) 2x LEDs 2x primary resistor LCD character display 20x4 with bluebacklight Pin strip 2 x 15 pin, 1 x 8 pin, 1 x 4 pin 90° 17x RFID card of compatible ISO standard

The rifle in the vid is the colt model 715. Later known as the C7. I built mine a few years ago with help from Jonathan ferguason. He's helped me out with my 604 too. Got another project he's helped with in the pipe line too haha. Just to bore you about hahaha. The 715 in the video is very unique. It has mainly A2 features. But the upper is odd. It has an A1 rear sight, but has a A2 brass deflector. Also another M16 A2 with the auto selection. Was originally bought by the sas, but is now in use with pathfinders, paras and royal marines. Here's the one I built while back.

    Gun picture thread

So another British rifle added to the collection. To most its nothing special. "Just another M16vn"..... But here I have started to build a colt model 604. As issued to the British army in the late 60s, early 70s. Now the 604 is something of a Frankensteinian. It's neither a M16VN (XM16) or the later M16A1 (model 602). Main differences are compared to either the xm16 (VN) or the 602 (M16A2). The 604 comprises of a xm16 stock with a pivoting sling mount. Not the static version fitted to the later model 602. It also sports a partial fence. The XM16 was known as a slab side, where the 602 was a Full Fence. It also comes with an A1 barrel but still uses the early 3 prong (duck bill) flash hider. The British version also came with just plain export markings, aswell as being painted black with a paint called Suncorite. Now mine is still a work in progress. Ive had the markings filled. I'm still to source the correct rear sling mount, as well as the chromo smooth fake bolt. I then tried to replicate the suncurite paint best I could. As the real paint was just slapped on. I tried the same but in the pics looks smoother than it actually is. Only other thing is slings. Early version came with AR15 slings. But very quickly guys swapped these out for SLR slings. So will look at that in the future too. Next up. A British colt model 701. To most its just a M16A2.... It is, but not quite. Main difference being, the fire selection. The US issued A2 was colt model 702. Which externally are identical apart from the 702 was 3 round burst. Where the British issued 701 was full auto. Pictured here in use during OP barras in 2000. As far as I'm aware these where only purchased in small numbers, compared to the earlier colt model 715 (C7) which is still in wide use today. With mine, I've replicated the correct export markings along with with the correct "auto" one. Upper is just a standard G&P upper with a real A2 handguard.

Site owners can make their own rules, it's their 'business' and if theft was an issue it might cause their customers to go elsewhere. my local site has banned projectile grenades for H&S reasons, which doesn't seem to be an issue, if theft was prevelant at any business I attended then I wouldn't feel my property was safe to be left unattended & I would take measured to protect it, mud sticks and this thread kinda proves it in my eyes. Opinions are like arseholes... everyone has one. Mine is, I'm in favour of a ban if it's warranted, I'm not a site owner so my opinion only affects me.

  25. Agreed, that's a project gun. And sorry, Charlie, I know this isn't what you want to hear, but the value really is dependent on a detailed description. Unless you know exactly what you've got, you're essentially selling a bunch of parts. For all we know, the internals on that are stripped out, or even missing entirely. The spare parts, case and bag shown there are barely worth the postage. There are exceptions, but again they rely on knowing exactly what you're selling. From what we (don't) know, I wouldn't pay three figures for the lot, including fees and postage. Someone else might pay that, and they may even get a real bargain. You don't ask, you don't get, but I'd be prepared for a lot of questions and potential buyers who mess you around and pull out. The more detailed pictures of markings you can provide, the better. Depending how much time you want to put in, you could find a local airsoft site (e.g. on Facebook) and ask them if you can bring it all along to sell. Airsofters are actually a helpful bunch, you might find people on site willing to dive in and tell you what it is, and what they reckon it's worth. It's always more tempting to buy something if you can get your hands on it. Best of luck.

I think ideally around the 3 to 400 or so mark, 450 as a stretch potentially. I'd like something with good out of the box performance as I'm not confident with any aspect of teching. Decent externals are a plus. Trouble is its hard to gauge value as a relative noob at the moment because the naming scheme for most rifs is quite confusing imo, and if you don't know much about airsoft internals trying to separate the wheat from the chaff is also quite difficult. I do look at reviews and stuff (ollie talks airsoft) etc for info where I can though

Quick pics on my living room floor (rug needs a hoover. Got to buy new hoover after motor burned out) Got a Theta Optics red dot on top, and a smoke generator suppressor on the front, with an Acetech Brighter R tracer unit fitted behind the smoke generator. Had to modify the suppressor by replacing the original fore end cap with one from a boneyard Spitfire tracer to give the needed clearance, plus removing the rear cap of the Acetech in order to fit the tracer unit in the suppressor casing. Gives an impressive effect, and certainly turns heads at sites. Don't have a video of the smoke effect... closest I have is an action shot from a game day after firing, as the smoke is being dissipated by the breeze Just looked. Out of stock

    First Aid Kits

Policy where I work is that motorcycle helmets need to be removed in every collision so that you can open airways etc... There is a method to this that I won't get in to for berevity. The summary of the reasoning is that if you somehow kill them by removing the helmet, then chances are they'll have been dead regardless and it's better to do something to help, than stand and let someone die. Primary function of a bobby is preservation of life which is pretty hard to do if you can't clear someone's airways. I'm sort of reiterating what Poncho's said above there though. That's totally fair, I suppose it's horses for courses at the end of the day, our first aid training isn't as good as yours because it's not our primary function (I do think that there should be a bigger focus on it though, personally) and you guys have much better kit for saving lives. Our first aid kits are pretty shocking to be honest with you, we've only recently had our cars issued with AEDs and CATs!

  42. This. Everyone moans about how new rifs are so often "just another M4" but manufacturers know that's what will sell in high enough numbers to make it worth their while. I'd hazard a guess that of all the people who say they like whatever new non M4 rif is available, less than 10% actually buy one
    1 point
  43. People should absolutely have the confidence to crack on with chest compressions without formal training, similarly, maintaining an airway. With an unresponsive casualty, to stand by due to a lack of confidence may hasten their death/increase the likelihood that they end up with severe brain injury through oxygen starvation. To have a go and do you best may just mean that they are in a state that when professional/qualified/equipped care turns up, they can do something useful. Of course the gold standard is to get some training, and frankly i find it astonishing how few people do - especially when the overwhelming likelihood is that it is a family member or a good mate that is the person in desperate need for first aid from you. Re. one the the above points - agree that motorcycle helmets should be removed - but only if essential to perform immediately necessary first aid - e.g. to maintain an airway and/or to perform CPR. In the example above, if the person is still talking then it wouldn't be necessary to remove the helmet. There is a correct way to do so in order to minimise neck/spinal movement. The trick is to work down the priorities of first aid - Airway, Breathing, Circulation (yes i know its more nuanced than that, but for the purpose of this thread...!) i.e. - if the airway is blocked - you MUST do something about it (i.e. clear it, get the casualty into a position where it is cleared and unobstructed). If they are not breathing/oxygenated blood getting to the brain you MUST do something about it (i.e. chest compressions + mouth to mouth if you are comfortable/able). If there is a catastrophic (i.e. arterial) bleed, you MUST do something about it (i.e. direct or indirect compression). There are right and wrong ways of going about these actions, as well as ways which would minimise the likelihood for causing secondary long term complications/injuries, but everyone must still have a go after first calling for help - unless there is someone better able with you that can perform those immediate actions more effectively. Example, a motorcyclist is unconscious and unresponsive. After ascertaining this, you remove his helmet in order to open up his airway and perform CPR. In the process, it later turns out that you have exacerbated a spinal injury and the person is paralysed. He is, however, alive and with a functioning mental state - you having maintained a supply of oxygenated blood to his brain until the ambulance arrived equipped with a defib etc. The alternative scenario, you look on, paralysed into inaction as you are concerned about something you read on the internet about never removing a motorcyclists helmet/a nonsense sticker on the helmet itself stating the same thing; the person is pronounced dead at the scene when medical care does turn up, and you spend the rest of your life wondering whether you could have made a difference for that bloke and his family! Appreciate that this is all a little emotive and heavy a subject, but i do think it is rather important. Perfect excuse for people to book themselves onto a first aid course/get your workplace to do so at their expense!

    TRMR Stolen.

Riddle me this: what happens when a site declares that it's going into lockdown and nobody is leaving until the thief hands over the stolen TRMR. ... when the "stolen" TRMR just rolled into a dark spot somewhere on site? Don't get me wrong, things do get stolen and I'd be happy to see thieves' hands removed. But before you go depriving people of liberty, you need to be sure of the situation, and consider the endgame. You're shopping at Tesco, and the tannoy blares "Mrs Miggins says she can't find her purse that was definitely in her bag when she came in, maybe, so we're locking the doors and nobody is leaving until you've all been searched." Reasonable? 🤷‍♂️

  45. @Dan Robinson, shame to have missed you, my lad and I were orange team too ... can see the enemy through 30' of foliage, but not someone 5' away! My lad and I went for the afternoon, we got separated while going through the woods to try to flank the other team, he ended up lost for about 10 minutes trying to find his way back into play and we only caught up with each other back at the safe zone. I tagged along with a sniper and together we flanked round to near 1 of the towers, the sniper got tucked down in the undergrowth on the opposite side of the track to me, where he had a line of sight more towards the tower and my blindside, but could also swing round to his right, where I was covering 1 of the paths enemy players would be using to get to the tower, I was also able to cover behind us, in case their players tried flanking us or just happened up that way. Together we got a few kills and then I noticed an enemy player in the tower, so went for him. The sniper then shouted hit and a few moments later, I felt something on my jacket, unsure if it was a twig or BB, I decided to call it, walking back, we went right through the enemy team, so after respawn, we knew where to go and worked our way up, both hit again, respawned and went back to same are, where we, now with a 3rd team member eliminated those players. all too soon, the game was over though. Unfortunately, when we got back to the safe zone and caught up with my lad, he wasn't looking right and said he had a migraine coming on and he'd forgotten to bring some medication with him (I'll make sure he has some for next time), so he wanted to call it a day, but he did enjoy his game and managed a few kills too. Will be good to meet up with others and I'll keep an eye out Dan, or any others on here if you're playing when down this way.

  46. Made it to Driver Wood yesterday, and have to say it is one of the best Safe Zones I've seen, clean, plenty of covered tables, decent food and toilets too. Chrono was effective - my new G36 was too hot, my L85 needed a few mags run through it to calm it down too. The game zone was pretty damn good too with plenty of vehicles to play around and in (including two Sea King helicopters and a London bus. I was rather miffed to discover that the non hit taker I was about to call out was in fact stood behind a fully rolled up window, and there was now two hicaps worth of BBs sitting in the back seat of the open window I was shooting through. LOL. Show's it's worth checking before making a knob of yourself and complain unnecessarily (see story below). Sadly I just couldn't get into the feel of things apart from the last game of the day. Not sure if it was me having a lot on family wise at the moment and not having the boy with me, or if it was the worry of my knee giving up (which thankfully it didn't). Certainly not the fault of the site. Games started off with a TDM, then various item acquisition and domination games. One criticism I do have though is that the attitude to spawn camping by the marshals was rather soft. Our team seemed to always end up pinned down to a certain extent, but to be fair the green team were much more organised and pushed forward much harder than our team at the beginning of each game giving them the upper hand. The best game of the day for me, was the Escort the VIP. Said VIP had to reach certain locations and stay there for 5 minutes before moving on. We had one amusing incident where I was helping him through the CQB area and we were firing as we moved. A guy (who was on his third day in a row thanks to NAF and possibly "tired and emotional") was rather upset that he thought we were on full auto whilst slot shooting him. We (then a marshal) politely pointed out that we were both on semi, and that shooting him through the slot he was hiding behind was perfectly OK, as well as the fact we were in the open at the time. His whining then went on to rate of fire, seeing as he lost all other arguments; and that the slot shooting rule was not explained to him properly. At which point the VIP and I just wandered off to have fun elsewhere. Especially ironic as his team were not the greatest at hit taking and we had been taking full auto hits all afternoon without moaning; plus there was some very dodgy hit taking and a lot of blind firing from one of his pals who was holding the big tower in an earlier game. For what it's worth the slot shooting rule is the same at every other site I have played, so why he thought it was any different here I don't know. My new fan-equipped eye pro, courtesy of @mightyjebus proved to be very effective. The only issue was the unavoidable "raining" on the lenses when the sweat was really pouring; but no amount of anti-fog is going to help with that unless wipers are fitted. A gentle draft across the lenses kept them nice and clear, with no problem of the eyes drying out. Pew of the day was the DE 904 - whilst a little short on range, the accuracy and shot consistency more than made up for it. Specna and L85 were working well, although for some reason BBs were veering off more than usual once they got past 30 metres or so. Shame to have missed @ASP383and @Asomodai, maybe another time? Will certainly try and get there again as it happens to be just off a short cut I take when I drive to my dad's house -so I have been driving passed it unawares for years LOL. I know the boy would love it because of the vehicles. One last amusing occurrence was a bunch of guys doing an paintball stag (judging by the outfits) do came up to me and asked if us airsofters were on some kind of military training - my reply was "nope just like you guys but with more realistic guns and better value for money" which is when I noticed their surprising collection of deactivated weapons for a picture - including what looked an awful lot like an AT4 rocket launcher and a Mauser anti tank gun.

  48. I can see where you're coming from but the number of times I've been pwned by a rental would tell me it's not all pay to win!

  49. At the beginning of the year I decided to take the plunge and make a second MWS build. Although I'm really happy with my first, which I run completely stock, standfast a SixG nub and externals, this one I plan on tinkering with a bit. I started buying parts a few months back, and yesterday the last ones arrived. I'm building a 14.5" SOCOM URG-I from the following purchases: · TM M4A1 Carbine base · HAO Mk16 13.5” handguard · HAO SOCOM Daniel Defense 14.5” outer barrel · HAO Surefire 4-prong flash hider · HAO Geiselle low profile gas block · HAO Geiselle Ultra Precision trigger guard · HAO SF 556 SOCOM suppressor (hardcore version) · Angry Gun Geiselle Airborne Charging Handle · Magpul K2+ grip · Magpul M-LOK hand stop · Magpul SL Stock · BavTac MHN · Bavtac Titanium Zet Plate · BavTac 140% nozzle return spring · Blue Force Gear padded VCAS (Olive Drab) · Blue Force Gear QD sling swivel x2 · WADSN metal NGAL I may also add a Magpul BAD lever and some rail covers, but for now Romeo Dunn on the purchasing. To complete the build I'm going to repurpose a HAO Geiselle Super Precision scope mount, Vortex Crossfire II 1-4x 24 scope and Element Surefire Scout Light M600. Before I start though, I want to get the gun out, box fresh, and run a few hundred rounds through it as is, and measure stock performance, before I start dicking around. edit - Forgot to add that, as great as the HAO suppressor is, don't buy the Hardcore version like I did. Thing weighs a ton. The cheaper Airsoft version would've been a better choice.

  50. I was going to start a new topic but THB this thread probably covers what I was going to say anyway... An open comment to any sellers in the classified section on this site... I've bought a few items already & most sellers are fairly good with their feedback on the offer I've made but now and then I get a shirty reply to my 'LOWBALL' offer... Just because you've paid X for a rif and added Y & Z to it doesn't mean it's worth XYZ to me, I generally offer 1/2 the 'new' price as that's what it's worth to me regardless of Y or Z, I'm happy to have the offer rejected or even negotiate a higher price, but there's no need send a shirty reply because your 'upgraded' 'modded' or 'rare' piece of unicorn poo is worth X to you. Basically, if you're selling & I make an offer, don't take it personally.
