Well, it might have been. We've also heard from folk who have had their UKARA numbers on the package being asked for it again, being required to complete firearms declarations, and waiting weeks-to-months. People have even been told that they need to complete declarations after delivery. I'd rather have a UKARA number than not, but it doesn't seem to be the panacea that it once was. Oh, it does interest us, and it's certainly an irritation when you don't have one, and know fine well that it's not strictly necessary. I played once, loved it, bought a couple of two tones (rookie error, but it worked out OK), booked two more games, and had the paint off of them as soon as they arrived without any qualms on the basis that the future bookings actually satisfied VCRA S37 more than a membership or UKARA since they were evidence of future intent, rather than past behaviour. I mentioned this to a friendly chap at the local site at my 2nd day, and he said "I should stop you there and tell you that I'm a police constable..." [oops] "... but I completely agree with that reasoning." In practice, it seems that the sale of RIFs within the UK just isn't an issue. We've heard (anecdotally) that some retailers keep records, particularly ones that also sell airguns, but it's pretty clear that others don't give a stuff, or are even creating fake non-defences which would seem to be making a legal rod for their own backs. Nobody cares though. As we keep telling new players, what you do with a RIF (or IF!) after you get it is far more important than how you get it. Any time that it will come to the attention of the State is likely to involve Firearms Act 1968 S19 (public possession), and that's your first and most important hurdle. Clear that, and the VCRA is unlikely to be an issue.3 points

Yeah the m9a1 (rail) and US M9 (no rail) are the newer ones with the new hop unit and they are really good. It's the m92f and tactical master that are the older fixed hop designs2 points

UKARA
BigStew and one other reacted to mightyjebus for a topic
Probably a unpopular opinion but if you plan to import RIF's from overseas its's easier if you have a UKARA number. It took me over 3 months to get a RIF released from Border Force and if I had a UKARA number it would have been released almost immediately. I've been importing for years and had a few problems over the years however recently it's becoming a pain.2 points -

I think SOCOM Gear is/was WE stuff rebranded? Something along those lines. As schnitz said, the two latest TM M9 variants including this A1 are pretty much fully in line with all TM's latest with various updates, so I'm fully expecting the same sort of top performance I get from my P226E2 and G17 Gen 4. Plenty of original MW, though the M203 on the M16 is something I just saw a lot in all sorts of films and games growing up, used it a ton in Battlefield 2. The chrome Eagle was obviously big in MW '07 and MW2 iirc, plus a million other things ha. The M9, again is in many many games but the thing that sticks in my head is a demo I had for Max Payne, which I must've played 100+ times through (in secret at first as I wasn't allowed shooting games). Berettas are obviously staple weapons throughout those games, but the original was probably the first game I had where you could really see the slide cycling and 3D models of brass cases and bullets coming out, which is accentuated by the slide having it's signature open top. Plus of course you could watch it all in slo-mo; blew my mind. America's Army in a later iteration also added a ridiculously well animated M9 that just fascinated me frankly.1 point

Id try contacting Kingdom of Airsoft in Dundee I went up to visit them during lockdown (I know, I know) I was having an issue with a Scar and they found a part was broken that was to activate the empty mag cut off The part wasn’t available, and they were having components made , 3D printed in metal by an offshore engineering company (that a player worked at) That was like 2 yrs ago, so you never know what they have achieved now 😉1 point -

The first time I put an 11.1v in a non MOSFET gnu, pulled the trigger, and saw a big sparky flash, I pretty much shat myself 😂 You're absolutely right of course, the trigger contact is a dirt cheap part, but will involve cracking open the gearbox. Which some might shy away from, so the MOSFET makes sense to have in that case1 point -

Yeah, got a cell checker. It was showing 12v at 99%. Odd. Still it fires well enough on 7.4v 2000mah. I'm not stressing about it. As for the full auto twit, we hunted him down with a bolt action and a mag full of 0.48g....😁1 point -
I've got the best eye pro, quality boots, every inclement weather layer one could ever desire, the list goes on... this week it was time to buy stuff that I bloody loved in video games as a young teenager in the late 90s/early 00s; stuff thats totally superfluous and I'm not sure I'll ever use (I think around that age is when we lock in our lifetime fascinations with things right?). Now, who's put a scope on top of their deagle?1 point

I don't think I've seen an opinion on the Cybergun M4s on this forum (at least not recent enough for my dodgy memory to recall) (Mustn't mention Double Eagles) Is it just the Cybergun's that you have a coupon code for? If you're mentioning Euros then presumably you're somewhere European, are you looking at a specific retailer's site? (Must not mention Double Eagles) I googled the Hawkeye, that does look the best of 'em, just because it's got a MOSFET so you can run 11.1v batteries if you want. And full metal handguards are good, if you don't mind the small amount of extra weight Any other guns take your fancy? (Must definitely not mention Double Eagles at all) Phew, a whole post about M4s and I didn't mention Double Eagles once! That's some sort of personal record!1 point -

Just in case anyone is considering ordering from Gunfire recently, I gave it a go and here's a breakdown of cost/timings: Gun £416.01 Mags 5x £7.44 = £37.20 Shipping £23.50 Import £108 Total: £584.70 Delivery: 21 days (Four phone calls from UPS of such poor quality that they had me questioning their legitimacy, forms exchanged two times because they sent the wrong ones, and a UPS driver that left a £500 package on my street-side front doorstep despite it requiring a signature). Relative UK retailer (Firesupport in this case) Gun £535 Mags 5x £12.54 £62.70 Delivery £11.99 Total: £609.69 Delivery: Probably 3-4 days, no import nonsense, hopefully not UPS. Is is worth it? Naaaaaaah.1 point

Apologies for taking so long to get back to you. I've tried all my small hex keys, both imperial (1/16" and 0.05") and metric (1.5mm and 1.27mm), and none of them seem to fit! I might just be being very ham-fisted but peering into the holes on the selector levers on each side, there's very little for the things to bite into. Lozart's set of hex drivers would be good - I have one small hex driver and it's always feels easier to use than the Allen keys, so useful regardless of whether it solves this specific problem it's a good purchase1 point -

Outside of mixing up the clothing accompanying it I've been pretty set with gear for a while. I ended up wearing way too many layers at the start of Saturday having expected it to be a lot colder than it ended up being. Toying with having a tubes conversion made up for the FCPC, not entirely settled on if it'll be worth it.1 point

"Downed Airman" Vietnam kit is just about done - close enough to share at least. I still need a faithful shotshell pouch and due to the EPM-1S mags being taller than standard 20 rounders I need to either get 30 round mag pouches or general small arms mag pouches - still undecided on those. Also waiting for helmet parts to arrive - some missing bolts, fresh straps and foam, etc but none of that is visible so itll look the same as it does now. Ill actually play with it with the visor up and proper eyepro instead, but for pics visor down is Ace.1 point -

Been working on some OPFOR kits. Nothing political meant by any of it of course. Type 21 is just about done (need to custom make one more piece) and I can go with a helmet or BF4 Scout if I want haha. The final pieces for an EMR kit were ordered today, I also have a Downed Airman Vietnam kit in the works, and two or three other Russian/Soviet kits that I think are done as well.1 point -
