Best M4 choice for beginners

I don't think I've seen an opinion on the Cybergun M4s on this forum (at least not recent enough for my dodgy memory to recall) (Mustn't mention Double Eagles) Is it just the Cybergun's that you have a coupon code for? If you're mentioning Euros then presumably you're somewhere European, are you looking at a specific retailer's site? (Must not mention Double Eagles) I googled the Hawkeye, that does look the best of 'em, just because it's got a MOSFET so you can run 11.1v batteries if you want. And full metal handguards are good, if you don't mind the small amount of extra weight Any other guns take your fancy? (Must definitely not mention Double Eagles at all) Phew, a whole post about M4s and I didn't mention Double Eagles once! That's some sort of personal record!2 points -

I’m led to believe that bios do their stuff about 3 millennia faster than non bios so a couple of weeks in an opened bag, then handled before being spat out a tube an hour later will make no difference. Maybe if you opened them just as your spacecraft entered a Black Hole, and you popped out an hour or so later…. It’s a Shame Hawkins isn’t still kicking about to help us out 😂2 points -

Agree with your summary. Regardless of the supposed uPgRaDeS or speshul feechures or whatever it is that fails to justify the horriffic price tag, it does the same job as a 100 quid CYMA. I know about the pressures of business right now but PBs prices have really jumped recently, some definitely in Mack's territory now. £190 for a UAR? Takin the pish mate. I love my UAR but there's no chance in Heaven or Hell it's worth almost 200 quid. Don't get me started on their postage costs either.2 points -

I've got the best eye pro, quality boots, every inclement weather layer one could ever desire, the list goes on... this week it was time to buy stuff that I bloody loved in video games as a young teenager in the late 90s/early 00s; stuff thats totally superfluous and I'm not sure I'll ever use (I think around that age is when we lock in our lifetime fascinations with things right?). Now, who's put a scope on top of their deagle?1 point

UKARA
Jacob Wright reacted to Rogerborg for a topic
But how does the offender adduce them? That depends on who you are, and what you're doing. "You" (i.e. we, the end owners) need a defence for importing/causing to be imported, manufacturing, or modifying. I've modified two IFs into RIFs and still remain one step ahead of the law. But we don't need one for purchasing within the UK. It's the seller that's committing the offence there. And how can they demonstrate that they sold the RIF only for an approved purpose? It's in Home Office circular 031 / 2007, The Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006 (Commencement No 3) Order 2007. This lists a suggestive scheme that's functionality identical to what became UKARA. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/the-violent-crime-reduction-act-2006-commencement-no-3-order-2007-firearms-measures "UKARA membership" (actually a central record of site membership) is just one scheme, there are others. Or a retailer can check directly with your local site. Or they can just take your word for it (Fat Bobs), or make up some bogus non-defence and cheekily charge you for that (Airsoft World and the other chancers that now accept "Just Cos"). It's entirely up to them what risk they'll accept - and it seems increasingly clear that there is none. If you can find a retailer willing to sell to you without UKARA or equivalent, go for it.1 point -

Note that the UKARA formed as the lobbying group campaigning and negotiating on behalf for the airsoft retailers to gain the added skirmisher defence (without which their wouldn’t be the defence of playing on an insured site) The UKARA scheme was one of the propositions offered up to justify the defence (Note that often when new players talk about getting their UKARA licence and are ‘corrected’ by Airsofters, the new player is closer to the truth - the proposed UKARA membership scheme was described as a licence scheme for airsoft skirmishers) The UKARA central register is free to players, but is run as a copy of site memberships, therefore sites may charge as they wish - usually a membership fee, possibly an admin charge and sometimes just free You can opt to use anything that you wish to justify your ‘VCRA skirmisher defence’ but it’s up to the seller (Or customs) to decide what they are willing to accept A retailer is liable to a fine if they make a RIF sale without justifying a valid defence. This comes with a level 5 fine, which is unlimited. (A level 4 fine is £2500) You might think that a UKARA / membership is money-making, or that the need to play 3 games in a given period just makes more RIF rental income for the particular sight, but they are avoiding a potential fine With unlimited fines possible it’s hard to see why certain retailers risk using obvious made up defences such as cosplay which just invite an easy prosecution1 point

Nothing to add other than they are almost as painful to work with as they are without. I found it was an absolute sod to fit, not bend and mess up and well, pretty annoying. You might be able to get your hands on one but I would imagine they'll be a tough one to source, easy to lose and lots of people like front wiring rear wired guns.1 point -

Nah, should I ever take the leap and get NVs I'd likely pick up one fo the B&T Tri-rail mounts to run an NGAL/PEQ on... if for no other reason than I suspect you'd be making getting batteries in and out a nightmare if you were to do the rail/grip mod. Truthfully I think it'll remain untouched, already braced ready for the 'heresy' chants as is 😂.1 point -

I'm guessing this is what you're refering to? Unfortunately can't offer any assistance on the number, but to my knowledge they come on all the front wired gearboxes excluding the SCAR. So the M4A1, M4A1 Socom and 416C. Opens up some options at the very least. I'd be inclined to give Eagle6 a ring and see if they happen to have any lying around.1 point -

Just in case anyone is considering ordering from Gunfire recently, I gave it a go and here's a breakdown of cost/timings: Gun £416.01 Mags 5x £7.44 = £37.20 Shipping £23.50 Import £108 Total: £584.70 Delivery: 21 days (Four phone calls from UPS of such poor quality that they had me questioning their legitimacy, forms exchanged two times because they sent the wrong ones, and a UPS driver that left a £500 package on my street-side front doorstep despite it requiring a signature). Relative UK retailer (Firesupport in this case) Gun £535 Mags 5x £12.54 £62.70 Delivery £11.99 Total: £609.69 Delivery: Probably 3-4 days, no import nonsense, hopefully not UPS. Is is worth it? Naaaaaaah.1 point

BBs in bulk
Enid_Puceflange reacted to RostokMcSpoons for a topic
I wouldn't have been surprised to hear all that a few years or even months ago, but I seem to have been blessed with all sorts of ammo that actually feeds reliably in a number of different guns. I'd now be rather shocked if handling Bio BBs did anything to them unless you soaked them in water, left them in the sun, dropped them on the soil and then stamped on them a bit. When BBs degrade they actually shrink rather than expand, according to an article I read that had been published by one of the manufacturers. But of course (1) the tolerances in a tight bore barrel are very fine and (2) one piece of sales puffery on the internet does not equal a scientific fact If you had moist balls, I wouldn't be trying to force them up some tight pipework, that's all I'm saying. Keep them out of direct sunlight and keep 'em dry and clean, but there's no need to get OCD about them1 point -

And a review noting that it doesn't seal and provides a nice route for BBs to ricochet around inside it. Well, you can't fault them for exploiting a market that will cheerfully spunk hundreds on crappy plastic and pot-metal toys that all perform much the same because "u get wut u pay 4 m8". And to be fair, if you added up a decent combination of lid, lower face, Revisions, Peltors and a ExFog, you'd be up around £200. Except that then you'd have Revisions, Peltors and an ExFog rather than whatever unknown bargain bin specials are being thrown into those systems. When the electrics fail or the "polycarb" cracks after 31 days, you can whistle for support or your money back. The part that really winds me up is that they're selling tat at premium prices but they can't even be bothered paying for coherent marketing copy for it: the OneTigris is for "Sooting Wagrgame" and you need to "inatall" things on it.1 point -
