My first pistol: Thought I can’t go wrong with a TM. I’m still fairly new to airsoft so not one for tinkering/upgrading yet (only additional purchase was a couple of extra mags, I fancy a small torch for the lower rail at some point in the future). Hopefully the USP is as reliable as it needs to be! First outing will be next weekend.4 points -
Badly thought out hairbrained schemes that involve Airsoft, usually touted by by prepubescent middle class eedjits with tiny amounts of life experience/Airsoft knowledge/business acumen ?. Nah, I've never seen anything like that posted up on an airsoft forum 😏4 points

What your saying is, the Facebook analytic bots have scrutinised the content of your more recent posts, & have ascertained that you must be childlike.......... Any of us could have told them that & saved them some time 😜😂🤣4 points

Facebook have just yeeted me because "We think you're under 13" (despite having that account for at least that long!). "Provide real world ID to get access." Nah, I'm fine, thanks. They really did me a favour there - one fewer thing to refresh every morning, seeking engagement that's really nothing of the sort.4 points

Interesting, but it looks like two separate tasks mashed together: thinking, and shooting. I mean, have you met airsofters?4 points

Killbox: Taking Airsoft to the next level

I'm no lawyer but I'd love to see them try to use that in court Agreed, especially as tasers and cattle prods are classed as section 5 weapons. As for force feeding, that brings up more liability issues such as potential allergies I see Killhouse hasn't been back since posting this so hopefully this will be one of those projects which get annouced before dieing without anyone hearing any more about it3 points -
There really shouldn't be a problem as long as customers are properly informed about what to expect[*], and nothing causes lasting injury. Heck, we pick up bruises and bleeders on a regular basis, and so does anyone playing contact sports, especially combat ones, so "injury" seems rather nebulous. I'm not sure what "shocked" mean, whether that's zapped (good luck finding a safe and legal way to do that), or horrified when you're handed the bill. Force feeding can sod right off though, that's got choke-hazard written all over it. I'd love to see them get liability cover for that. [*] A point I keep broken-drumming about with airsoft sites. Instead of those risible "waivers" that we all sign which mean nothing, sites would be better off investing the ink on listing the actual hazards that we're likely to encounters, their duty of care, and the limits of it.3 points

Edging closer to finishing this pew, tried playing with it on Saturday and the GBL hop unit was sending everything to the moon. Slapped an Autobot in there to see if it helps next time around. Amazing recoil with the steel RA Tech bolt at 150psi Real PTS BUIS, Strike stock and grip and a real Eotech slapped on top. Base pew is a G&P Salient Arms WA system - but with the chamber swapped out more more modern and less proprietary parts3 points

Airsoft, finances and mental health.
TheFull9 and 2 others reacted to Cannonfodder for a topic
Not sure what more I can add that hasn't already been posted, but there's some great advice here As someone who has struggled with debt and mental health issues I fully understand how appealing that new gun feeling can be, only for it to go very quickly and be replaced by the shitty feeling that you're still in the same position but more skint. When it comes to social media I find it's good to remember that what you're seeing is an extremely edited version of what's going on in people's lives and occasionally taking a break from it for a few weeks can do your mental health a world of good, especially the airsoft groups on facebook. All the whinning manbabies on there really make me dispair for the future of the hobby so I left almost all of them3 points -
Oh, we've had some great rants and handbag spats about that, and particularly whether something can be both a Firearms Act 1968 firearm (airgun are a sub-category of firearm) and an imitation firearm (FA 1968 definition) or realistic imitation firearm (VCRA 2006 definition) at the same time. It's all as clear as mud, but essentially you're correct: it's easier to walk out of a shop with something shooting metal at multiple Joules than plastic at 1.1J, despite them looking identical to anyone but a hands-on observer. Airgun, airsoft, and bang-gun. Aaaand welcome to the handbagging.3 points

There are other laws regarding the sale of airguns. IIRC all sales must be face to face at a registered firearms dealer (you can still buy via mail order but the gun must be sent to a RFD for you to collect). Also you need to provide your name and address to be recorded as the buyer2 points -
Probably the best thread title/premise I've seen on here. Great idea. I think I was lucky in a respect, when I went through my trade training (age 19/20) it was like a more compact stint at uni except we got paid and had to march for it. I'd watch most of the other lads on my course manage to vanish their pay packet within a week every single month, for 15 months. They'd *constantly* complain about being skint the 2nd half of the month and be even worse when their cars were due MOT or insurance. I figured I'd better not be like them. Appreciate the folks who've been so open and honest so far, really good to see. I hope this discussion continues.2 points

When was the 'Golden Age' of airsoft?
John_W reacted to Cannonfodder for a topic
Funny you should post that, my latest purchace was a WE P99. I did have one of the Maruzen NBB ones years ago but I hated the mushy trigger so sold it. I know what you're getting at though, half the reason I got one was to be different from all the Glock and Hi Cappas out there Me too. Christ I feel old now For me I'd say the golden age was probably around the late 2000's. The ACM guns were relatively cheap but effective and social media wasn't a big thing so there was less of the egotistical bellends spouting nonsense (well there were some, but they usually ended up being put in their place). Also I was nice to not have every other player wearing multiple cameras and thinking they're the next Steven Spielburg while pushing their crappy goontube channel1 point -
Middle class, maybe. But not prepubescent in this case. The named director is 44-45 years old. He's also a "NFT and Metaverse specialist" at another company he's director of. And a crypto investor! I swell with confidence that Killbox will be a success. Dibs on the NFT of the consent page on the website lol.1 point

Not sure of the detail. I did find this though https://www.lawcom.gov.uk/app/uploads/2016/08/No.134-Criminal-Law-Consent-and-Offences-Against-the-Person-A-Consultation-Paper.pdf Page 7 section 1.2 A person is guilty of the offence of assault if- (a) of another he intentionally or recklessly applies force to or causes an impact on the body (i) without the consent of the other, or (ii) where the act is intended or likely to cause injury, with or without the consent of the other1 point -
I don't think legal questions are dumb, especially given potential consequences if you get it wrong. It's worth getting second opinion from more experienced people. I'm not a lawyer. Ah, so unlike with airsoft there is a central (government-run) database of air rifle owners?1 point

Officially it is Blue Bell something or other, but with Carlos being ex military..... I have my doubts. 🤪 Distance to church is a toughy because of the hill, I'd guess 50 to 60 metres, but certainly a good thing to test because it was always out of practical range of my Specna, and I was amazed I got that YouTube guy the other week with my SVU at a similar distance as I had to aim miles above your heads. Airsoft metres are indeed a very fluid thing. Having played at AWA though, I forget how relatively compact Spec Ops is. I'm tempted to bring my thermal imaging camera too, but I seem to have fried the charger in my van's inverter. Damn those pesky Ghillies1 point -

So it'll be a stupidly high price for a very short time. The more I read about this, the worse it looks @Killbox "provide your blanket consent to being verbally abused, touched, shocked, force fed, restrained, tied up or subjected to any of the other actions or behaviours which one might reasonably expect from a military scenario." Am I allowed to fight back in these senarios?1 point -

I'm currently looking to get a G&P m14 DMR stock for my HPA m14 setup but they're unicorn poop levels of rarity it feels like. Once I do get it though, it should be a nice old-school looking unique gun as I've never seen anyone run one, not really even when they were available everywhere back in the 00s and 10s. Also, kinda want to buy a TM spetsnaz just for the nostalgia1 point

When was the 'Golden Age' of airsoft?
Cannonfodder reacted to Duff Beer for a topic
For me the golden age for a lot of things was the early to mid 2000’s. There’s absolutely no doubt in my mind that the quality of the guns, gear, and tactics is significantly better now than it was then, but the sport’s a little bit too ‘pro’ now. I started playing in 2004, and back then it was a bit more ‘underground’ a bit more amateur (in a positive way). Information was gained through forums, and there was a real sense of community. Everyone knew everyone at the sites on first name terms, and there was a lot more trust about chronoing and general play. People who has worked on their guns since the last game were keen to show off their work (usually a “look it does 16RPS now instead of 12!) and that was when they got chrono’d. Hit taking wasn’t an issue (not that I find it is too much these days anyway, but that could be because of the sites I go to), and deliberate headshots were frowned upon. There was more variation of kit and camo in the safezone too. It was a time before Multicam was a true thing, so you’d have almost everything represented. At Dover we had DPM, Fleckmuster, Australian, Cypriot, Flecktarn, US Woodland, UCP, M84, CADPAT, and civvies. Guns were just as varied with an AR platform being at max a third of the players. When was the last time you saw a P90 with a box mag in the field? Pistols were just as varied as camo patterns with people running all sorts. Has anyone seen an FN57 recently? What about a P99? There was a time when USPC’s and P226’s were all the rage, but Glock users were the minority (though you’d always get someone dual wielding G18C’s). Fully auto in CQB was also a thing. I suspect the combination of 1J max, low rates of fire, and 0.25g being the heaviest ammo people would run being a factor. You didn’t have HPA or DSG builds lobbing 30-40RPS down range to worry about. Yeah you’d always have the couple of guys that took it a bit too seriously when room clearing, but a 12 gauge dynatech (over arm!) usually calmed them down. As YouTube wasn’t a thing the tactical knowledge and general skill base of players was a bit more polarised. There were the regular players/teams who usually had someone ex-military or armed plod who would teach them a few bits, but the rest was down to people reading and researching. The better players used to take rentals/newbies under their wing and show them a few things during the games, and that’s something I don’t see anymore at the sites. Little stuff like waiting a bit longer for the opposition to get closer before engaging, or standing back a bit off cover to give yourself room to peek out with the weapon up was shown in the first round. There seemed to be more team play too. I guess it’s easier to huddle a group of 30 players before a round then 75. All of that being said, I suspect a lot of it is rose tinted mesh masks. Scraping together the money to buy more ammunition because I was a poor student, and only getting new gear when birthday’s or Christmas came around was tough. Tappet plate failures could mean financial ruin, and getting to games was dependent on the goodwill of teammates and the promise to buy them a hotdog at lunch. It was a fun time though, and I wouldn’t trade the memories for anything. “What am bestest Famas?”1 point -
