Whinge Regarding Shipping Costs
Rogerborg and 2 others reacted to Ebeneezer Goode for a topic
I recently went online to a well-known and regarded airsoft retailer I have used many times in the past without issue to stock up on some BBs, only to find I was quoted a shocking £12.99 in shipping (more than the cost of the BBs themselves). Previously it was half this for non-RIF packages like BBs, gun addon tat, clothing etc. I know the cost pressures everyone is facing - my wife has a business and has had to change couriers due to exorbitant costs (mainly due to the out of control price of fuel). I can understand courier charges for RIFs, need for insurance, secure transit/delivery etc. However to charge more for shipping than the price of an item definitely ventures into the arena of taking the piss. With Royal Mail the size of said package would cost no more than a fiver... I went instead to EBay and bought there, for the same total price the well-known retailer quoted and got double the amount of BBs. Shipping was included in the price too. Said well-known retailer has now lost my business forever. Sad really.3 points -

Just to close this out, as I can't stand threads that have no solution posted, I opened up the silencer to find bb shavings... 🤔 So, engineer mode ON... found a bit of 16mm copper pipe, cut it to size to fit snugly in the suppressor, wrapped the barrel with enough tape to centre it and slid the copper over the barrel. Nice and snug. On a side note, sounds really weird now with the diy outer barrel 😂😂 All good now. Thanks guys n gals. Much appreciated. 👍3 points

So.... I may have been bitten by the honey badger... I love mine so much that I've downloaded the handbook from Q in the US to get the colours right when I paint/cerakote it... 😁 Then, being the daft bugger I am, I emailed Q to ask if u could copy the Q and the "live free or die" logos. Kevin from Q (the owner!) emailed me back with hi res pictures of it and told me if I was ever in the neighbourhood to come over and have a blast with the real 300 blackout... What a gent!!2 points

Had to call an ambulance today. A woman was unconscious on the luggage carousel of our local airport. 'Tell me if she comes around,' said the operator. 'She does about every five minutes,' I replied.1 point -
Whinge Regarding Shipping Costs
sonofsammo reacted to ak2m4 for a topic
Airsoft companies have been over charging for years sadly. Some do it to try to get the customer to order more items in the attempt to justify the shipping etc. I actually subsidise 90% of the shipping fees in order to retain customers. £12.99 is very high for some BB's, what was the total weight?1 point -
The internet connection around here recently has been a bit sketchy, so I moved the modem down the road to where they keep those horses. Now I have stable WiFi.👍1 point

They're actually one of my preferred retailers. Always been really good with me and they've ordered stuff in for me in the past from Europe (they order from https://www.airsoftzone.com/ semi-regularly). Super helpful for me because KJW m700 parts, magazines and after-market upgrade parts can be hell to find in the UK, but airsoftzone orders them in regularly. Can't recommend them enough. Always done well by me and thus they're one of my favourite retailers now.1 point

UK law on shooting a RIF in a garden
Baptimus_Prime reacted to Tackle for a topic
I'm not even sure why we're still entertaining this thread, yes there are laws pertaining to rif use that any of us could easily fall foul of, but every thread that's EVER discussed anything along these lines have all come to the same conclusions : IF YOU WAVE A RIF AROUND ANYWHERE THAT MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC CAN SEE YOU, YOU WILL GET A VISIT FROM THE POLICE. Now irrespective of anyone here's knowledge of the laws, taking the moral high ground because "According to laws XYZ its OK to do this, so it's my right" is bollocks, the plod are obligated to investigate every call they receive regarding potential firearms, even when your in your own back garden or on private land, & there isn't a court in the land that will support you versus the police when in comes to them doing their duties in this matter, whether its them telling you to "don't be a cnut, use some common sense", or the other end of the sliding scale, them shooting you dead. Even if the attending officers are very knowledgeable about Airsoft & are polite when discussing it with you, respond with a smart mouth & you'll find yourself nicked for "causing distress" or public order offences, & your kit grabbed for "assessment", & don't expect to get it back anytime soon. Back on track, if you want to fiddle with your guns in your back garden, let any overlooking neighbours know that their harmless but realistic toys & explain your hobby, maybe even print something out explaining it in more detail, get them on board & understanding. If if you do fire your toys in your garden, set up an appropriate range with a decent backstop to keep any stray bb's within your property boundaries. USE SOME COMMON SENSE ? 😏1 point -

Am I nuts for wanting a .308?
The Waco Kid reacted to Rogerborg for a topic
If it gets your PP hard while slinging the same BBs as everyone else, it's the right toy for you. Life's too short for regretting purchases that you didn't make. The one thing I'd mention is that sooner or later you're likely to run into some muppet of a marshal who declares "That's a DMR, mate, you can't use that in CQB, mate, it's way too hot, mate".1 point -

Am I nuts for wanting a .308?

I'll second the two comments above. What I will say I that one doesn't admire the fireplace whilst stoking the fire as it were. Unless you are going to hang it on the wall, what it looks like is secondary to ergonomics. If I play competitively I use my G&G M4. For themed games I never use an M4. I have eight CYMAs and all behave flawlessly.1 point -
Am I nuts for wanting a .308?
The Waco Kid reacted to Impulse for a topic
You aren't nuts for wanting a .308. As someone who owns pretty much all RIFs where the real-steel versions are 7.62x51mm, I can vouch for a whole bunch of good ones. If you like that AR style platform, the Cyma SR-25 is absolutely amazing. A little pricey as it's part of their platinum series, but having taken mine apart and put it back together, I can vouch for the internals; they're really impressive out of the box. Ok, so you play predominantly CQB so ignore all of what I just said as I was attacking the .308 side from a sniper perspective; yes, I'm taking a 1.1J BASR (complete with 3.5-10x scope!) to a CQB game this weekend, but I'm weird. Don't be like me. As to your concerns, you don't have to get an M4 as your first rifle and there are plenty of parts available for other gearbox types. V3 gearboxes are used by both AKs and mp5s, both of which will do CQB pretty well, or at least have variants that will do CQB well like a folding stock AK. I typically try to avoid G&G because they love doing weird proprietary things that make them a bit weirder to work on, but I can vouch for Cyma. Every Cyma gun I have ever had has been an absolute workhorse of a RIF. The m14 socom I had 12 years ago was one of the best performing RIFs at the site I played at in the south of Spain out of all the players, my Cyma m14 that I have built as a 1.1J m21 has people with 2.3J BASRs fearing it for its range and accuracy when I'm counter-sniping them, my Cyma mp5k is probably my all around best gun that I would take to a game if I wanted to play to win and be the most effective player in game I could be and my Cyma SR-25 is... broken because I can't do AEG gearbox teching (but it will soon live again and once more terrorise the enemy team!). Also, Cyma AKs have been consistently great for over a decade now. I used to be a TM shill (and still am for their gas guns), but now I'm a total Cyma shill. I'm constantly impressed by how consistently well they perform with the most minor of modifications, which is generally just a ML rubber, nub and maybe a ZCI stainless steel barrel if I'm feeling spendy. No idea on their M4s though, and back in the day their M4s were crap.1 point -

let this be a lesson kids. generally we understand 2-toning is a necessary evil to allow us to have our hobby still, and mostly we don't care if you turn up with a generic m4/1k painted in bright colours. but if you 2-tone something nice we absolutely can, and will, judge you for that.1 point -
