Awesome pistol only just got it, bought it as new in here last week for a project to build a movie clone fifth element gun but it’s just sadly not going to work. I do wish I could hold onto it as it’s wicked. Feels great in your hand, nice weight, solidly put together. just need the cash at the moment. listing for what I paid. Gun and 2 extra mags, one of which is longer. Gas tight. No extended grip though. £90 all in£90

But that doesn't alter the fact that they were just sent the exact same information that they already had, possibly plus the word "airsoft". So I'm left wondering: if they didn't check the UKARA the first time they had it, did they check it the second? In other words, maybe just saying "Yeah, airsoft and that" is sufficient to get it through, with or without a (real or imaginary) UKARA or site membership number. Pure speculation, but I'm coming down on the side of not having a UKARA number or other defence put on the packaging now.1 point

For transparency and interest I had a look at my own build cost (pictured below) vs what a Devgru could be. TM Socom - £465 vs TM Devgru - £660 (total level 10 upgrade cost with most expensive options picked £1862.53 total Rif included) My level 10 build cost - for the Socom = £834.61 (minus the Rif itself but inclusive of labour and postage/expedite turn around in 2019) Potential cost of a level 10 with most expensive options plus 72hr turn around would be £1202.53 Mags as you say are £25 new Vortex seem to hold value considering the have an unlimited warranty which transfers irrespective of owner (or at least used to) Chest rig doesn't look to be anything special by a long shot and the tracer as you say could be any brand so could vary in cost as well. Definitely dreaming at that price, but stranger things have happened.1 point -

I'm guessing its a case of the BF following procedure and sending out the letter, rather than looking for a ukara number on the package or paperwork. I also doubt that many of the staff don't know what a ukara number or airsoft is1 point -

Agreed. I think the introduction of the cheap Chinese stuff in the late 2000's has meant many of us have gotten used to the relatively low prices. I just hope we don't end up in a similar place to when I first started playing, eg £30 for a single magazine1 point -

Yup I'm with you. For a bunch of reasons, but mostly because I'd like to feel fairly certain I'm not going to get shot in a robbery or by the police, by accident or design. The freedom to have some fun with firearms is something I'm prepared to give up both for 'the big picture' and 'the greater good'. If I ever go to Texas I'll be down the range blasting with away with anything cool I can get my hands on though1 point -

This coming from a Yank. Lets assume that guns are a "privilege" . I would be OK with mandatory training. I would probably treat the process the same as driving a car. I dont think firearms should be treated as if they are some oddity of society.1 point -

The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread
Badgerlicious reacted to Impulse for a topic
Only played half the day this weekend as I am still troubleshooting my KJ m700 on higher power, though I ran it in the morning on 1J as it seems to be really good there (it sends .48s to the moon with minimal hop applied on higher power). Honestly, was a bit of a frustrating one. I was really looking forward to getting out and playing this weekend, but it was a super busy day and they ran a rolling assault game where we weren't allowed to flank. Forcing a 40 vs 40 rolling assault into a narrow corridor just becomes a meat grinder and that's exactly what happened. Wasn't even close, we got slaughtered. However, this wasn't my main point of frustration. The worst part was that I managed to low crawl and sneak into flanking positions within the narrow field of play 3 times and every time I got shot in the back just as I was getting ready to shoot the enemy team in the side or back. I spent the whole game, which was pretty much the whole morning as we only did a warm up game beforehand, crawling incredibly slowly past the enemy line of sight while my friend drew their attention away from my movement and using site knowledge to get around what was otherwise a pretty impenetrable enemy defensive line only to get shot in the back by my own team every single time. Yes I was in a ghillie and expect a bit of friendly fire, but not every single time especially when my armband was around my unghillie'd wrist on the side they were shooting me from so it was clearly visible. Pretty sure two of the three times were the same rental players too. At least the first game was successful. Me and my friend set up to deny flankers on the three base domination warm up game and we denied the flank for the entire game from concealed positions. I did, however, remember why I don't like the mk23 as a sniper sidearm though with that awful squishy trigger making follow up shots hard to make accurately. Back to blowbacks next time! Also disappointing because my m700 is still overhopping .48s on 2J. I found that the middle intake valve + green gas is 2.1 - 2.2J at this time of year, so I know the power setup, but the hop still eludes me. Going to stick a 50 degree in as the 85 and 70 degree ones didn'ty work, but if it keeps doing this I might just make it my 1J bolt action of choice and do a slightly different build with my other m700 for a 2J build. Next week is AI500 and going with zero expectations. I'm no door-kicking CQB speedyboi (my CQB experience consists of urban sniping), so I'll be finding all the long areas and just playing there1 point -

You really want to move to country primarily to own guns? I thought about moving to USA awhile back because of the money i could earn in my profession and had fallen in love with the side of America I had seen( I am a geek and regular travel to Atlanta for Dragon con basically geek mardi gras). Any way the more I looked into the more I saw the UK is shit the USA is shitter (it ani't getting any better). I have made friends over there most are professional all of them have been laid off multiple times with little warning and no restitution whats so ever in the time i have known them. An English friend who married a local has been there 8 years has had 8 jobs and only got his green card last year (he can still be chucked out the country for any reason). What ever state it's you'll miss the NHS, first year we went a friend had a drunken fall, went to get checked out at the hospital. A sprained ankle cost him 5k up front that he had to claim back on his travel insurance. " love shooting and I'm an advocate of responsible gun ownership for sport shooting, hunting, pest control and self-defense. Guns were all-but outlawed here and we're still murdering each other in the streets, just now we do it with handheld sharp objects instead." 5 times more people were murdered with knives in the USA in 2020 than in the UK. I really don't want to live in a country that i need to be armed to feel safe. The Whole self defence thing is a red herring you are more likely to be rob/burgled for your guns and much more like to kill a family member/friend, yourself than a "Bad guy". Restricting gun ownership works. Ever country with gun control laws has significantly less murders even by proportional population. The USA needs to get over the second amendment as the out dated deliberately woefully misinterpreted legislation it is( it also needs get universal health care, reform education and Employee rights). I know I'll be in the minority in this group with my stance. I would never want Americas gun culture in UK. I don't think guns should be banned but they should be heavily regulated.1 point -

Watches
Jez_Armstrong reacted to Smiling-Dutchman for a topic
I was very close to become a watchmaker (and am now working as a clockmaker for a big London Museum). Aside from a £15,- watch I use at airsoft, I have 3 watches, 2 from Argos that cost me £10,- and £15,- respectively and which I use to make sure all the clocks are on time, and a good mechanical watch I don't usually wear. As I work with some very old and probably quite valuable clocks and watches on a daily basis, I don't really care about owning expensive watches, I'd love to own a Patek Philippe some day, but maybe after I've won the lottery (and then first stop myself from buying a better car and spending the rest on RIF'S)1 point -

Welcome to my world. Believe me getting anything into the UK is much easier than the vast majority of other countries I ship to. Some boarder forces I've provided the same information time and time again but it has become apparent that if the same guy isn't "on the desk" the following day then you normally have to start at square one.0 points -

As I was driving the lad back to university on Saturday we decided to visit a relatively nearby site on Sunday for a day "playing away". We arrived at the site to find a decent safe zone and a really good chrono range with three stations; unfortunately, there was a lot of dry firing in the safe zone and they chrono'd on 0.20g. Having chrono'd, we noticed that some players had acquired red or blue tape on their arms and went in search of the marshals who were allocating sides. There weren't any; there were two baskets with rolls of red and blue tape in them and it was left to players to decide which side they wanted to be on, which resulted in very unbalanced teams. After a rather long safety brief, we eventually went out for the morning game, rather later than we are used to. First impressions of the site were positive with lots of natural cover, decent structures and undulating terrain. However, there was a rather long wait at our start point while whatever needed doing was done and the game was then briefed. This started well as we assaulted a couple of areas but descended into a stalemate as the terrain channeled both teams onto opposite ridges where we spent about 90 minutes engaging each other at a distance . For the first time ever, I was bored playing airsoft. Marshals seemed to be noticeable by their scarcity; the only times I saw one were every 20 minutes when he appeared on his quad bike to check which flags were up in the various zones. After lunch, during which there was even more dry firing in the safe zone, the afternoon game was briefed; this seemed destined to become even more channeled than the morning game so we decided to pack up and leave. All in all, a very unsatisfactory day. Having read Tackle's post about naming sites, I have decided to do so; it was Stormforce Airsoft near Rugeley in Staffordshire.0 points -
