The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread
Floperator and one other reacted to Rogerborg for a topic
Another corker at Area-66. The briefings were more traditional (i.e. over-complicated and under-explained), marshalling was the usual lackadaisical affair, but the mood was great, the play was fair, and the smiles-per-minute was off the chart. I was wearing my Astra Militarum gear for the first time outdoors, so a new bunch of folk got to go "Ooh, is that what I think it is?" or "The planet broke before the Guard did!". My G36C / "lasgun" crapped out completely: the motor totally disengaged, the fire selector popped off, the anti-reversal stopped anti-reversing, and the hop stopped hopping. But the Machine Spirit was beseeched and all was sorted over lunch. In the meantime, the TAC-41 was busted out and wow, headshot after headshot. Like a WuTube video, without the fakery. Then I came home to find my new HFC HG-132 revolver had been delivered from Bullseye, days earlier than I'd expected. So much win today.2 points -

What have you made?
PureSilver and one other reacted to Darkmikey22 for a topic
Made a batch of SA80 QR sticker. One for the Sa80 and one for SUSAT. Both with the ARES serial numbers. I also used some clear stickers to place over the top like they do for real too to finish the look. OK the numbers wouldn't be right, and looking at making more. But they do work on othe platforms too as I have done with my gpmg. Top one mine, bottom is a real gpmg with code. Here they are on my L22/susat and gpmg.2 points -

NB tactical mask
lekne and one other reacted to GeorgePlaysAirsoft for a topic
I have one, I think they are pretty good if you are wearing a balaclava of course. The metal is quite flexible so you can smush it to fit your face....ymmv of course. The downside is that for me at least it interfered with the chin strap on my helmet which was basically unacceptable. I ended up cutting it down into a kinda orange peel shape so it just protects my teeth.2 points -
Silverback tac-41 questions
Floperator and one other reacted to Chicken pie for a topic
I love my tac 41. Nothing more than a £16 spring to up the power ( to UK limits) plus a Longbow bb Chub nub and out of the box it will hit 70m targets with .43-.45g no problem. You can spend more if you fall in love with it like me, but it's not really needed.2 points -

You make it sound like you spent a lot of time bent over admiring the floor tiles in your local public khazi ? 😛2 points -
yes that would absolutely do it. the bb in the barrel is a resistance that will slow the progress of the piston (as it works to push the bb out the barrel) so entirely normal for it to be different when there's nothing obstructing the barrel. it's why i tend not to dry-fire aeg's too much. likewise the spring around the barrel pushing the hop unit back is a definite candidate for causing a big air leak if the hop unit is sitting forward of where it should. of the precocking options out there there's the gate warfet and perun ab++ wire in the same as a conventional mosfet (ie using the original trigger contacts/cutoff lever etc), although both will require some soldering.1 point

piston slap is relatively normal depending on the particulars of the piston/cylinder head etc. however it might possibly be a sign of an air leak (lack of resistance- faster piston louder slap), very hard to say without actually hearing it in the flesh although you can test on a chrono. twanging is a common enough problem, one way to solve it is the use of a mosfet with precocking enabled, which has other benefits as well folks have also tried things like using a longer spring (of the same rating, so it's under more preload)1 point

i used to think very much that way, until a couple of occasions i chose/was forced into running irons only and found myself doing surprisingly well. even if the irons are off you still have a reasonably repeatable reference point for where your shots are going, which is close enough for the ranges we play at.1 point -

aoe wouldn't really do that, it'd be more on the rearmost pickup tooth. i'd be wary of videos on the topic, aoe is one of those subjects that you see a lot of people blanket suggesting large adjustments when the reality is the vast majority of pews don't need anything so drastic.1 point -

'Owners club' forums
Jedi_Master reacted to Speedbird_666 for a topic
PBnation does something similar for paintball guns, but the guns were so genuinely different in operating mechanisms (at the time - not so much now) that it made sense. For example there would be no point having separate forums for G36s, CZ Brens, AKs, AUGs etc as they all use the same style of gearbox, with only subtleties such as hop units and nozzles to differentiate them. Then there's the ballache of moderating the sub-forums. As for 'long' threads, well, there is this funny little feature on these here forums that's called - wait for it - the 'Search' function. Sometimes that comes in quite handy if you are looking for specific information. You can even search within said thread. Clever that.1 point -

I’m quite fond of ‘experts’ who state with ‘authority’ that a British Army load out is wrong when on operations you get numerous mixes of uniform & equipment in MTP, multicam, DPM, olive, and issue (let alone 1950 era issue belt on just out of Sandhurst 2nd Lieutenant), QM GPC purchase, PRI purchase, private purchase. Then when not on operation there are all the different regimental dress codes, combat loads, shouty man’s dress code etc When the Army can’t agree on sleeves up/down, shirts (light jacket) tucked in/out etc and the CGS sends out an Army wide order on when up/down applies and that C95 is tucked in but PCS is out - but the Army stiffly disobeys, followed by CGSs new order of “I don’t give a shit whether it’s up/down/in/out, you can have local orders - but be fucking consistent”* * not the officially published wording On topic now ….. Loadout guides appear in some magazines as an article, or also as explicit or less explicit advertising, sometimes as web articles etc and can be aimed at airsoft, reenactment, model making etc They can also be research such as Osprey guides, museums, photos & paintings etc Theres a lot of information out there. The thing that may make a difference is whether you are collating and publishing the information or selling guides Many people will be interested in reading a guide, less would pay for it1 point

5 looks ideal for a kill house: Clear out the trees, build a grid frame system of ‘rooms’, put up boards as the walls. Ideally leave an open doorway in every wall ( so each ‘room’ has entrances in every direction ) Then close off some the doorways either by semi permanently screwing them in place, or hang them on hooks so they can be rearranged If possible build some overhead walkways/observation platforms - that way you can have staff watching overhead to run the game and oversee for safety, plus have a couple on the ground to run in for an emergency OSB wood panels should work for a kill house wall system (cut some windows etc for variation) Check pallets for condition - you don’t want customers getting large splinters from rough pallets, or a part broken panel snapping Also check their nails - you don’t want a customer to get embedded onto a rusty 6” nail. Where practical remove loose nails & replace with screws Avoid using pallets as temporary floors, boots will go through and ankles will get trapped Consider covering pallets with hessian sheeting / sacks as obstacles Check tyres for condition. If old tyres are worn unevenly then the underlining wire will be exposed1 point

And this is the exact kind of smug virtuous “oh no one complained when America blah blah blah or when China blah blah blah or the big bad British Empire blah blah blah” comments is why I didn’t mention about not buying from Russia due to a moral standpoint originally . Im sorry but all your trying to do is score some “look at me I'm so right on and politically aware on my high horse” points , what your comparing to the Russian invasion of the Ukraine is puerile at best and bloody offensive at worst ALL Governments are guilty of some heinous crimes at sometime or another but Russia is committing genocide against a sovereign nation live on tv 24/7 ! Plus how do you suggest we sanction China and America then seeing as China is responsible for 28.7% and America 16.8% of the Global manufacturing output making them No’s 1&2 respectively(fyi the Russian federation is 15th with petrochemical but 47th without) ?1 point
