  2. I am lucky that my wife supports my new found hobby and knows that I would consult with her to de-conflict our diary engagements. Family has to come first and in this the Jedi Mistress is to be obeyed! However, I have so far managed to do all my chores to earn the free time, so played today but will be busy on bank holiday Monday sorting out the garage and garden regardless of weather. Work does get in the way, I work irregular shifts and weekends at least once every 5 weeks. I have scheduled some time off work to play on Wednesday evenings. At least with walk-on there is usually no pre-booking required so should allow some future flexibility to just turn up (providing my kit is prepared and packed). Most important is that my wife does not know just how much I have spent on airsoft to date.

  4. Here you go, TM VSR GSpec, Full Laylax kit with a 430mm 6.03 barrel, Standard hop unit and rubber but with a shimmed Airsoft Pro hop lever. Hawke 4-12 x 50mm Scope, LLCS and Custom sprayed stock/scope Currently 485fps with .2's and 461fps with .43's so it joule creeps 20fps, better than before with my ASPUK set-up.

  5. Boring L96 that I've had for far too long. Can be fun but it's pretty outmatched by longer barrel VSRs. Edit: 350mm (roughly, I don't remember exactly) PDI 9.01 PDI hop up unit with R-Hop Airsoft Pro trigger, cylinder, guide rod and piston PDI 180 spring that puts out 445 with .2s but I've got a 210 and a 220 that will take it up to as far as 560 with a bitch of a bolt cycle PDI duralumin shortened fluted barrel and suppressor adaptor Some Laylax bits here and there like end-screw, cheek screws etc. Scope is a Visionking 3-9 x 42

  10. I guess I'm a little different to the majority here in that I have a Mon-Fri job and that leaves my weekends free. I have 12 year old twin sons who come and stay with me every other weekend and Airsoft gives me a hobby that I can engage in with my 2 boys where previously if it didn't involve Xbox we had nothing to talk about. It means we can look forward to going somewhere together and gives me stuff to buy them for birthdays/Christmas etc. It also means that on the weekend they're not with me I can also go and Airsoft. My wife is really into running and she'll happily go out and run while I'm out playing soldiers. I realise I'm in a really fortunate position in that not everyone can go as often as I can so I intend to make the most of it!

  12. Congratulations duck a whole post and not one mention of G&G or combat machine. It must be some sort of first going to print it and frame it, its a historic moment. 😃

  13. Good choice on the gun. Grip and sling will be ok. Mag not sure but as a rule I would stay away from dboys stuff. The red dot might be an issue if you have poor vision. If you have an astigmatism the dot can appear blurry like a smear rather than a crisp dot. Glasses can help but dont always totally sort it. Have a look through someone elses red dot and check for yourself. Battery get either a 9.6v nimh or 7.4v lipo. Best bbs are probably ASG blasters good quality and reasonable price you want to use 0.25gram. Good shout on not going for a Honey badger or amoeba they are crap like all ares. Seen two honey badgers die on the first day and its one of the ugliest airsoft guns ever.

  14. The correct FPS on a .43 in a 500fps (On .2) settup is 341. Other than R-hopping the thing then running an M130 i'm leaving it as is! I get 70-80 meters now nicely, before it would go further with overhop but that was with the +50fps joule creep. I switched to the Laylax settup because it uses the TBB to gain fps rather than running a higher rate spring (Which leads to Joule creep badly).

  15. I'm that sad this stuff is my new life - everything else is fitting around me seriously - as the world is 25hrs & 8 days a week many of us are finding jobs are not always the 9-5 anymore I've worked nights for 20 -25yrs and the "extra" for unsociable hours has fallen over the last 10yrs overtime & the Sunday "double bubble" is history in many places as companies try to remain competitive (or shaft the workers - depends which way you look at it) Double Day shifts - have now given in to Continental Shifts - that is often brought in and sold to unsuspecting workforce only later they realise they are working every other Saturday for flat rate & most never realised the full implications Still - good luck to all of ya looking for work - kudos to the grafters out there whatever profession you get into (unless you are corporate banker & a complete w@nker)

  16. I think it's pretty disgusting for any company to ask you to work on a Sunday unless they're paying you a significant amount more to give up your time. It takes people away from their families, friends and hobbies - frankly, what's the point in living if you don't even get those two days off. Really, if they're making you work weekends with no additional pay then I'd say tell them to roll it up very tightly and stick it where the sun doesn't shine.

  17. I play badminton once a week, gym twice a week, I like to cycle and airsoft as well as do call out, diy and work between 5 and 7 days a week so going 4 times a year is an achievement lol. The wife is more than happy for us to do it but there is just not enough days a year, and to top it off the site I goto only does first and 3rd Sunday of the month.

  18. It's hard!!!! I'm lucky if I get to go 4 times a year. I love the sport, but being on call, the wife and diy seem to take up most of my weekends. It's gutting. But on those few magical weekends you do go, god the wait is worth it 😊

    So many nice G&P guns

Yep or M14 or G36, all the guns people buy to avoid getting an M4 or whatever can make up over 50% of the guns on a game day. Nice to have some variety but there's guns people seem to think are a lot rarer than they actually are.

  21. I post this topic looking for advice, I want to Airsoft as often as possible but having a job where you work weekends and have one day off a week makes it very hard. How do the people of the forum fit their passion for the sport into busy hectic lives? Tell me damn it!

    Gun "Bling"

So looking forward to getting my new G&G CM16 SR-L.. Loads of lovely rails to hang stuff on. Let's be honest all the kit, still shoots like sh#t. Anyway what's the thoughts on using a PEQ-15 (fully working) or having separate tac light and laser. I like both open and CQB work and since I'm starting afresh with the new gun wanted to explore all set ups. I've used separates before which have been fine but have been watching "Strike Back Legacy" over and over and see the PEQ in use on various style weapons. Grateful for any opinions and set up ideas and fully accept any banter about "Gun Bling" not making the operator any better when boots are in the mud. Ta 😋👍🏻

  23. So like some I technically work Monday to Friday, although as a teacher I generally work from home either Saturday or Sunday to get caught up. When I started my other half worked 28 days on 28 days off and lived at the company house in Gravesend when she was on shift. Weekends on months when she was off were spent with her. Weekends that fell in her work months were basically free for me to find skirmishes. Sometimes I worked it so I would airsoft on the Saturday at a site drive to Gravesend and go out for dinner and spend the night with her then get up on Sunday when she went to work and I would play the Sandpit or somewhere else close. She has changed job and now does Monday to Friday. Occasionally she gets sent offshore like for the last month she has been in Brazil. Which means I have had an airsoft fest! Weekend milsim at Tuddenham, weekend off, weekend at tuddenham, sunday at the sandpit today. If she is still away next weekend I will play Gunman Norwich on Sunday possibly. Mind you I pretty much had a 3 month ban before our wedding in July. I think I normally get in about one game day every 2 months.

  24. Marui Gspec, ''One Joule'' build. 330FPS,just on the legal limit. Laylax Piston and Laylax 100 Spring, everything else in the cylinder is stock,no real point in changing anything in my situation. Cheap SHS sear set.Nothing amazing but it works. Hop- ''Custom'' hop up arm, filled the stock one with epoxid, and shaped it to copy the dangerwerx ones. PDi W-hold bucking, and stock barrel. but polished to a mirror finish, like the cylinder. Use .28s and .32s usually. Joule creeps constantly, hilariously over volumed. Been a while since i checked the numbers but it was spitting out .30s at 1.25J~ish. Right now I'm using Nuprol .28s which have pleasantly surprised me.Have not had feeding issues with them yet,and they're easy for me to see. Performance- Good enough. 50-ish meters and ''It will deffo hit'' accuracy. I usually like to get up close and go mad minute bolting anyway. Wanting to get a smaller optic, like a red dot. local shop has NC star Gen 2 DP red dot sights for 25 quid, good idea? http://cdn2.bigcommerce.com/n-arxsrf/n3wox/products/8544/images/11537/DPTV2___25113.1421530239.1280.1280.jpg?c=2

  25. I know this is a hefty bump, but I thought it'd better be in the right place: I bought some of those Nuprol .30 tracers and they work great. I know there's been some discussion about some batches being crap so obviously the usual caution to give them a quick vision inspection before cracking the bottle open, but the bottles I've bought seem to be fine and function well. I crushed one and found it to be satisfactory - some air pockets but nothing more than expected from mid-range BBs. Given that they're the only people making tracers above .25g I'm happy to go with it. Also, regarding the Green Devils: I spoke directly with Graham as the site is currently down and bought them through him. Just drop him an e-mail - it was completely painless. http://greendevilbb.com/

  29. So today down it the woods and a player on my team ran out of ammo. To save him the walk of death back to the safe zone, I just took out my TM speed loader and gave it to him so he was able to bomb-up his low cap mag and stay in the fight. It felt good to help out another player. Airsoft karma.

  31. how do I fit it all in...well I looked into it many years ago, some on here prob in nappies then! haha.... until July this year I hadn't been to a game, now im counting down...3 weeks now...until my 2nd game ive always been interested and read forums over the last year, I just wish I had got to a game sooner! now I have 2 children and married with house stuff to do etc., kids to entertain etc, with wifey going back to work one day a week, as long as I tell her, she'll let me go, so im looking at atleast once every 4 to 6 weeks!, full or half day games depending....

  33. I'm almost 100% on getting a G36 or variant now. After boring the wife last night with talk of Airsoft she pointed out that if I did choose to use Taiwan guns I could in fact buy 2 guns and possibly a side arm . Gotta love the financial logic of my wife sometimes lol

  34. I'm lucky to a degree I travel a lot for work do on call and such much like the others but my missus is chilled with it and I normally go on a Wednesday night. Will see how easy it is to balance when I do a few weekends but it's my only real hobby so I make the effort when I can. Compared to RC this is a lot easier to manage

    Gun "Bling"

Thanks all. Good advice from both sides of the fence on gun Bling. Good advice about lasers compromising position, we had that issue at my "work" combined with the fact we all went through the "laser fashion phase" and it made the "target" look like it had measles and no one knew who's round was going where !!! And the fact at my local site they just aren't allowed. I picked up an "as new" Element PEQ-15 on ebay for £25 so I'm happy that I have that as an option in the correct circumstances. Ta

When at my last game there was a chap on the opposite team with a very bright red laser...needless to say he got shot...ALOT! It gave away his position every time he used it, so much so that he ended up taking it off (had a pressure pad on the pistol grip so it was basically on constantly). I use one for my pistols, only because I bought it originally for my g18c when I used it on full auto 😝

  39. Finally gave in to the addiction and got myself; Bulle MOLLE Recon chest harness, admin pouch, MP5 Triple mag pouch, and a pouch for water. (For longer outdoor sessions) New pair of cargo pants, a MOLLE pistol holster and a dump pouch. All in Olive green. And some ESS Advanced V12s on ebay new. Worse thing is I'm still constantly thinking of small things to get later as well.. Like a cheap fast helmet and neck pro..

  47. A hat works very well to protect from hits to the head. A boonie hat will offer some protection for the ears, helmets don't tend to be as good for this. Also a boonie hat is better for hiding as it breaks up your outline more.

If you're playing somewhere that'll require a light, get a decent dedicated light (with a momentary only switch/pad if possible) and mount it for the necessary games only. Done.
