Hi all, Please excuse this post but I need to see if my posts are being seen by everybody. I've a few posts in the last weeks and had no views at all. Now either there is something wrong with my profile or I'm extremely unpopular. I'm hoping its not the latter cheers jon

  5. 23rd August at Spartan airsoft very near to Bristol international airport, they are having a fundraising game day with raffle prizes Theres also free tea & coffee with an all day on-site burger bar plus on-site shop for the usual, red wolf airsoft has a stand there aswell The reason for the fundraiser is because a regular player who is an ex royal marine and his family very sadly lost there little boy to a rare luekimea, he was the only little boy in the country to have it If you could attend then that would be brilliant, Spartan have a Facebook page & website with address, prices etc www.spartanairsoft.co.UK Mods,if this is in the wrong section, could you please move it

    Which Thompson to buy

I can second this rifle. A friend of mine uses one regularly and it's quite the workhorse. Just make sure you downgrade it as his was shooting in the 400fps region when he first got it.

  9. I'm not saying they're not functional, just that I die a little inside when I see one that hasn't got wood. Would you recommend it over a VSR?
    2 points
  10. I disagree, the plastic's that A&K use for their SVD's are fine, can definitely withstand some abuse, and if you have the money then there are woodkits available. If you're talking about A&K's anyway...

  12. The world is full of people who are ready to get offended at the smallest thing, regardless of what their individual outlook on life may be. Best way to get through it all is treat people as you wish to be treated and as long as you do that sincerely then generally the world will accept you for who you are. EVERYONE is going to offend someone at some point no matter who you are or how carefully you tread. Be nice to people and think before you speak and they'll generally do the same back - if they don't then it's just who they are and you can either accept them for it or not. No point getting hung up over it.

  14. I haven't used it for over a year but I only ever used .25s in it apart from once when I used .28s and .2s in cqb. The .28s were better but not enough for me to go out of my way to get some (the site I used to play at didn't stock them). Unless it was running very close to 350 then I'd honestly stick to .25s and instead upgrade the barrel and hop. I've never really found the need to up the weight in an aeg, then again it's not the same for everybody

  20. Tm pistol style is the best I have found works better than the large m4 style.
    1 point
  21. Aye. TM L96 AWS or VSR-10 (Gpsec will mean you don't need to add a rail) are the most readily upgradable and best performers. The VSR-10 will perform slightly better, but I included the L96 because hey you might want something that looks nice. Honestly, just go for the VSR if you're serious about sniping. It's not a bad looking gun either, but it is fairly overused.

  22. The springers don't look nice at all. Plasticy SVDs are terrible and cycling it is depressing.

  23. I do agree. To be honest I'm pretty surprised it didn't get shut by mods ages ago...

  24. I second Proffink on the TM VSR-10 range of Springer sniper Rifles. I bought one second hand on a forum and it had some upgrades done it but not alot. The previous owner had already upgraded the cylinder, piston, Spring (to an M150 i think) spring guide, cylinder head, installed a zero trigger mech and a hop up arm, it shot ok-ish around 465FPS and fairly straight though shots would veer to the right often. I furthered this by zeroing the scope using a laser bore sight as the scope was well off whack, i shimmed the hop up arm to keep it still, bought a new barrel and barrel spacers so not it shooting straight but still around 465FPS, my field limit is 500FPS. That said you must be prepared to know that Spring Rifles can be very difficult to cock back as your right arm will have to fight that spring in order to fully pull back the bolt (about 3 inches worth of bolt) and frankly after a whole mag of trying to shoot quickly your arm will ache. That said if you find the bolt pull too much hassle like i did as its really heavy, there is a website called http://www.Mancraft.pl obviously based in Poland, there they sell a system called the SDiK which is essentially a refit of the piston to a gas cylinder, you can buy all the accessories from them too including regulator (HPA tank compatible) and a CO2 bulb adaptor. The whole system takes less that 30 minutes to switch from spring to CO2, i managed to stow the regulator and CO2 adaptor in a cheek rest for my VSR-10 and pipe the tubing through the stock so it looks very clean. All in all expect to pay around £150 for the SDiK, regulator, piping, CO2 adapter as well as some spares and delivery. Bolt pull can be done with one or two fingers now and only has to go back an inch, as it is regulated i can set it up for an FPS of 497 consistent shot to shot (some times even 3 or 4 shots in a row), one CO2 bulb lasts about 100 shots, i also have the ability to adapt it to HPA which i probably will when i start polarizing.

  25. Spring; trigger response and consistency. Electric - never going to be absolutely perfect trigger response (though you can get quite close if you spend enough). Also they're not as quiet most of the time (if this concerns you). Gas - not consistent enough. Cooldown and variable weather is going to screw you over. The solution to this is rigging your mags for HPA but that's a whole different ballgame. There is a Czech(?) company that makes a drop-in bolt, but I cannot for the life of me remember their name or the URL. *Edit Link for this has been posted below by Shizbazki* TM VSRs are widely regarded as being pretty much the best springer sniper rifle out of the box. However, the absolute best ones require patience and cash to get right. Expect to spend around £450 for absolutely everything. PDI and Laylax/Prometheus/First (their name changes spending on the day of the week) make the best sniper rifle bits. My opinion on sniper rifles is to go big or go home on the budget if you really want to compete, but I know a lot of people don't share that opinion so take it as you will. Try X-Fire.org for PDI as some of their stuff just isn't stocked anywhere else. Laylax Zero Triggers and the like are easy to get in the UK. What you're going to want: New cylinder New spring(s) New nozzle New guide rod New hop up unit New trigger unit Barrel spacers New barrel (go for 6.05 or wider) Aftermarket cocking handle/charging handle/cocking lever (even the TM ones break) A decent scope (an absolute must - doesn't need to magnify a ludicrous amount but it does need to be clear. Visionking make very good rifle scopes that can be had off DHGate for very good prices) Decent-ish scope rings, but don't spend more than £25 unless you want the aesthetics, frankly And finally your hop. I'd recommend a flat hop with R-Hop of some description to get maximum lift as you'll be wanting to use at least .30s (preferably as high as the mid .40 range). There are some good threads already on here about a lot of this: http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/24745-upgrading-a-marui-vsr-10/ http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/18557-help-on-sniper-rifles/ That was from a couple of minutes searching. If you can, I'd really recommend spending a good few minutes as literally every question about sniper rifles has already been answered on this forum (let alone other, dedicated sniping forums like http://www.airsoftsniperforum.com/)

  27. Yeah the set I bought ages ago had 14 pieces, they were all black but 7 were metric, 7 were imperial. Obviously the only one missing was the one I really needed, but I found that today Anyway, all is well now and I am able to remove what I needed to. Thanks for all the responses.

  28. Yes, but lets not have such an awfully shit named thread turn into something serious, if a serious discussion is wanted, give it the respect it deserves, in a fresh thread with a title in good taste.

  32. Exactly this, the silver ones are just cheap zinc coated ones. Bondhus which are the best are black so are the original Allen brand. Any others are too soft.

  33. I just got one of these with my first G&G rifle, found it useful for counting BBs, but I can't find another use for it. I was wondering whether I could get more of these only yesterday for counting BBs - As I don't have fine enough scales. I've dealt with evike twice now and the only issues I had were with UPS (on both orders). I guess you could make your own, and slightly melt one end so the BBs don't fall through without a slight push? Blame google, not me. Cheap though out of stock.

  34. I've always found the silver ones are the cheaper brands but again that's just personal experience. Anyway I have an imperial set and multiple metric sets and they're ALL black.

  35. I think there is some distance between a community having a discussion over a listed price (to which of course the seller can contribute), and the destruction of an ad. Some ad's have indeed been torn apart by other members, but in my opinion, rightly so. But testament to the forum/mods, the ad listing remains active, and the seller is able to discuss and defend their item and pricing, and keep trying to flog their stuff. And this forum is not saturated with trolls trying to bring down ad's for the sake of it - were that the case, I may support a more rigorous policing of the discourse. In essence, this is a forum retaining it's forum-ness throughout its functionality. This isn't a feature of a 'deficient' forum in my opinion, but is actually a unique and welcome selling point.

  36. It's a hook clipped on the bottom of the mag. There's no male/female it just hangs in molle or on your belt.
    1 point
  37. Use whatever your gun shoots best. It all depends on hop up and starting fps. The more rigid a hop the more it suits heavier bbs for accuracy but no point having bbs that travel too slowly either. Forget all about 2inch groupings and such as long as you can hit a torso and your bbs get there before hes ran off is all that really matters.
    1 point
  38. Not sure I understand? The clip is attached to the mag, the 2 "hooks" slip into molle webbing or your belt, prety simple stuff.
    1 point
  39. How so? It's no slower to lift a mag off your belt than out of a pouch.

Not heard about them, where have you been? They are meant to be the best stock aeg you can get atm. They have an internal mosfet in the gearbox, shimmed, aoe corrected, special holes in the gearbox I think, good hop up system and quick change spring. I have t heard a bad review of them and they are meant to be incredibly good Here's a review: And another from shizbazki

  43. the abbey gasses (Maintenance gas included) use UPL instead of silicone, which is better for storage as it stays dissolved in the gas preventing the gas from drying out and drawing the lubricant from your seals. adding silicone certainly helps by delaying the problem, but if you end up leaving your mags for more than a couple of weeks, maintenance gas might well save you having to break them down and fix your seals again. by the way, to add to my original list: Learn to break down the mags and fix your seals. its not usually a hard process, the G5 can be done by: -Empty the mags of gas -check the mag is empty of gas -triple check the mag has no gas in it -unscrew both inlet and knocker valves, drop them in silicone and leave them overnight -remove the magazine baseplate -find the bastard follower spring that flew off and the little nub that holds it straight -unscrew the two metal caps with a massive allen key -remove the o-rings from each cap and submerse them in the silicone, or just drop the whole thing in. -re-assemble and add gas immediately

  44. i just finished my g5 after my skirmish. DAILY MAINTENANCE (after every skirmish) -empty magazines of gas -field strip -clean bolt track and rail of all silicone oil -clean barrel thoroughly -apply silicone oil to bolt carrier track -re-assemble -fill magazines with just a little bit of Abbey Maintenance gas -use one mag to put a couple of dry fires through and spread a little lubricant through the internals if using propane, the cleaning steps are more important due to the impurities found in usual stove propane, and the last two steps are also much more important. if youre using an Abbey product as propellant, you probably dont need to empty them to fill with maintenance gas, just add a little maintenance stuff in with the other stuff. once or twice a year, give the rifle a full strip, check things like the hop bucking, trigger and bolt movement for signs of wear or damage and replace parts as necessary (you can get just about any part from Milspec Solutions or Socom Tactical). if you notice that your FPS has dropped since you bought it, remove the bolt carrier and disassemble it to get the nozzle out. give the two o-ring seals a good lubing (best to leave them submersed in silicone oil overnight) and reinstall them. while youre at it, use your finger to spread some silicone oil all round the cylinder the nozzle sits in. once youve put everything back together you should find its about 50fps hotter than brand new, but this falls back to normal once you put a few mags through it, so do some garden plinking or something until the FPS comes back into site limits.

Stick a mosfet in there too! Very snappy. If you take the cylinder unit out you can see the gears, mine came a bit dry so it might need a dab of lube
