  1. If you want a true military day at the range pick the wettest day of the year, get up at 6 stand in the rain for an hour waiting for someone with a key, pick up your rifle then cram yourself and 16 other blokes into a minibus and spend an hour driving to the middle of nowhere. Now for the real fun, make sure the range has a shelter that can either fit 4 blokes in or was constructed during the reign of Henry VIII so it leaks like a fucked fridge so either way your getting wet! Spend 45 minutes zeroing your rifle, make sure you put it on top of your daysack so you know it's yours and treat yourself to a nap. Wake up to the unit mong asking "Is this your rifle mate?" Don't worry it is and you get to spend another hour re zeroing it! Dinner time , get your self a soggy sandwich with one slice of ham/horse/donkey and a sausage roll 1% meat and the rest sawdust disguised as pastry Do one shoot before the range staff get bored and woooo you've all passed! Spend 30 minutes picking up brass and get back on the minibus. You think your days over ? Nope spend an hour cleaning your rifle with half of your cleaning kit missing/borrowed/not getting it back. I'm not bitter , honest

You'd have to do that for a pistol anyway- and what happens if the site you've just been to closes or you go to a different site to try it out? You'd be left with a pistol and you'd be £35 poorer because you'd have to rent. In 4 games of £35 rent fee on top you'd spend more than the price of a new CM16

    Reading Mall Site

After the last few skirmishes of bad weather and water all over our guns Surrey Viper Squad decided to try out Reading Mall under Zed Adventures. Waking up at 5am on Sunday morning was very hard work with the 1.30 hour drive ahead we like to get to sites and early as possible have nice bit of breakfast at the local Al Cart Mcdonalds and then try and get the best place to sent up our gear. We arrived at 7.50am and were allowed in at 8am to pay and get ready. When you walk into this place it feels very exciting and knowing that the weather is not going to ruin it is a big plus. The staff like all Zed Adventure sites are very friendly and helpfull and everything is well organised inside with a little shop. When you walk in and you see this old shopping mall you cant help be excited and the first game started after the normal rules meet that lasted around 30mins and finshes just around the time you lose the will to live. The first game was 8 guys verses the other 80 and when they kill someone that person then joins there team. This was a great first game and to be honest we were really enjoying it and holding out well and then we started dropping and one by one started joining the other team. After about 30mins the game was over and the Martial's said back to safe zone for a break, i was a bit disappointed by this as i was just getting in the mood of it and another break was due??!! after around 10-15mins of break time that was not needed as the place is mainly semi auto only so i had only used one mag out of my 10 we went back out there and had the martial tell us more rules and then story to the next game that took another 20mins. So out of the last our i have played for 30mins. This stop start of games happened all day at The Mall, and to be honest when they day ended i felt like i had not done enough Airsofting, i normally cant wait to get home but the constant breaks i was more then rested. The actual site and when your playing is 10/10 and i really like the semi auto this because it actually takes skill instead just holding the trigger down. I will be going back to the Mall in the next few months but i wont be looking forward to all the breaks im not sure if this is something they have always done, maybe someone can shed some light on this but i would have liked it much more if one game had ended and they said swap sides carry on. The highlight of the day is the Terminator who walks around in Armour with a 25 a second machine gun and you can only shoot on semi!! when you see him with his glowing red eyes come round the corner of the basement corridors its stay and get shot or run!! i tried both!! and both times got SHOT!! lol OUCH!!! Venue 10/10 Staff 9/10 Games and game play 5/10

  4. Why hello there, I didn't see you coming. Have you had a nice meal yet? Did you have Green Giant sweetcorn hoping that you'd be a giant one day? Or did you try to be manly by doing the cinnamon challenge? Or are just being a complete arsehole by doing the knife song? A KNIFE IS FOR f*cking CUTTING CAKE AND THEN EATING THE f*cking CAKE Just a general message to stop stupid knife song idiots. Do you look at the sky and imagine My little ponies? I sure do. They are just amazing, lovely and... NO, JUST STFU, PONIES ARE FOR LITTLE MIDGETS, NOT FOR GROWN ASS MEN WHO WANT TO CUDDLE AROUND THE TELLY WITH THEIR DAUGHTERS THAT ARE CHAINED TO THE KITCHEN AND WATCH MY FUDGING LITTLE BALONIES. Enough about that. Wait, do you seriously still, ride that tricycle?! Man, just bin it already! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Amvx52YlUb0 AND BREATHE..... So, are you an avid buyer of BB pellets? Yes you are. Do you buy from JBBG? Are you trying to say no? DON'T LIE TO MEH YOU SILLY BOY OF COURSE WE ALL DO! And what do you specifically buy from JBBG? LPEGs? Orange pooped guns? So called "Pro Guns"? Lovely products aren't they? But more specifically, you know that I know that you know that we all know that, we all have this urge in us. We all have this urge...... TO BUY JBBG APPROVED BULLDOG BB PELLETS THAT CLAIM TO HAVE HIGH PERFORMANCE! AND DON'T LIE TO MEH! WE ALL DO! WE LOVE 'EM! But have you noticed recently that they are quite inaccurate? Do they curve off to the left or right often? I know, they are starting to be a huge let down now. So what is happening to them is what you want to know. That's why i'm here to find out for you! So, one ordinary day, I went to my locals to buy some good, trust worthy JBBG Bulldogs like we all do and I bought a tub of 5000 .20g BB pellets! That will be plenty to last for a while! Sooooo! This is what they claim about their Bulldogs: These 0.20g 6mm Bulldog BB Pellets have been designed to optimise the performance of all Airsoft BB Guns including; Co2 operated, Airsoft BB Guns with Hop Up, Shotguns, Single shot Rifles, most good quality entry level BB Guns and High end (AEG) Electric Rifles. These BB Pellets are calibrated and have a smooth polished surface, with no ridges or imperfections making this product the best you can buy for your 6mm Arsoft BB Gun. Sounds very appealing eh? Smooth..... polished surface.... with.... no... ridges... or.... imperfections...... I'm sure you'd love that with your Mrs. But the fact is, they claim to be the best bb pellets for your gun which we have all believed for some time. But let me show you this.... As soon as you look at that picture, you think, "Hmmmm, that is a highly polished standard JBBG Bulldog pellet with no seams or imperfections what so ever and I swear on my life that this is true." Yes, that is true on the outside of the BB pellet, it does actually look well done aesthetically. But it was time to get the tools out to crack them open. This is my tool to do the job. It is a small multi-tool which can be hooked to your keyring and has 12 functions and as you can all see, there are a pair of pliers and cutters in the middle. On the right side, as you can see, there is a nail filer, scissors and 2 screw drivers. And on the left side, you can see a can opener with a flat head screw driver on it, another flat head screw driver, this "prod" thingy which I don't know, and another can opener with a rather sharp point at the end maybe for box and letter opening. So I used the pliers to break the bb pellet open and get ready to see the inevitable for you JBBG Bulldog loving fans. LOOK! SEE THERE?! THAT IS CLEARLY A MAHOOSIVE AIR BUBBLE RIGHT THERE! SOMETHING YOU NEVER WANTED TO SEE! Are you in denial? You're probably thinking, "Nawwww, that's just 1 bb pellet, I'm pretty sure the best brand for BB pellets which is Bulldog would make a mistake once in a while, no need to worry." BUT WAIT! HERE IS ANOTHER ONE! THAT IS CLEARLY ANOTHER MAHOOSIVE AIR BUBBLE RIGHT IN THE CENTRE OF THE BB PELLET! And you are definitely thinking, "This can't be! The best brand for BB pellets has imperfections on their products?! No.... THIS CANNAE BE! THIS CANNAE BE!!!!!!" WELL, It's all true! They claim it to be the best but there are imperfections. This doesn't mean that most of their BB pellets are imperfections, I mean, what I mean to say was, THEY ARE ALL IMPERFECTIONS, THEY CONTAIN THE SWINE FLU! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES! BURN IT ALL! And I know, this may be all of a sudden to you. Hush, I know how you feel. You spent all of your life savings to buy 5000 tubs of Bulldog BB pellets and you now know they are unreliable. There, there. I know what this means to you. YOU GOTTA BURN 'EM ALL YA SILLEH BOY! So that is why I'm telling all you heartbroken JBBG loving fans that Bulldog BB pellets are bad. And I know what you are thinking, "So...... *sobs*..... where will... *sniffs*.... I buy BB pellets now... *sniff*.....? Well, what I recommend to all of you, and you all may not know this, but, I recommend you to use BB pellets made by the brand Blaster or ASG. So, you should now know that to never trust what JBBG recommends as you have all done so for the past few years. You all can now move on and buy Blasters. I bid you farewell and happy buying. AND GO TO THE MINING FIELD AND EARN BACK THE MONEY YOU WASTED ON BULLDOGS! *GENERAL ADVERTISEMENT* JustBBguns are now selling superior quality .12g BB pellets. They are better than ever in terms of quality! That's right folks! 0.12g! The best weight of BB pellets for your airsoft gun! 5. I played on 13th April. I personally wasn't that impressed with the site. The floor is absolutely covered in brown paintball paint and glycol mixed with split BB's. You don't notice when you take a knee (your camo is waterproof enough) but once you walk out into the safe zone it looks really horrible. I took a prone position at one point knowing full and well what would happen and man it was really nasty. The place smells strongly of the paint rotting away. The site itself is also quite small for CQB. Its a T shape area where they start one group at the top of the T and the other at the bottom. Naturally what happens is that the corners of the top of the T end up being a fight around the corners and while there is plenty of cover towards that choke point the choke point itself has basically none. With zero flanking options and a single fatal funnel it ends up being a really limited game. Its low on effort which is great for the unfit (like me) but its not really a good fight. Its really quite dark so its kind of hard to fight in there without a strong tactical light and most of the combat is <20m. My AEG was over the FPS limit so I ended up renting a gun from them, which was really bad. All the renters get an AK47 or AK74 and they were in pretty bad shape. The first one I had wouldn't feed at all and was held together with multiple pieces of black gaffer tape. The second gun I had gaffer tape on the stock holding the battery in, the pieces of the gun were rattling and moving about (it was full metal) and while it fired it didn't do so consistently. It did at least let me play the game but I am making sure I don't ever have to rent from them again, at £30 for rental they don't compare favourably to most sites on the cost. Its also worth mentioning I ended up with some bleeding welts through my camo clothing and many of them in the back. Some people there have apparently got quick change springs/nozzles and are ramping up the power after they have passed chrono, which limits all guns to 328 fps. Worse than that they are shooting people with their hands up as they walk away after calling hit, most of my hits are actually from that and not from initially getting shot. The marshals need to find those dangerous a*** h**** and ban them because I don't need to be finding I am bleeding after getting shot 12 times while walking away, especially when those guys doing this are apparently using hot guns. The preparation area really isn't big enough. Quite a few people get there up to an hour early so they can kit up and get their stuff out of the way because there were like 10 chairs and 50 odd people at the game. 50 people also seems to be far too many considering the size of the site. I don't think you can reasonably have a chance of breaking through that fatal funnel on anything above 10 v 10 with inifite respawns. A limited life respawn might help but mostly its an issue of area design rather than numbers. Unlike some of the London clubs they at least don't charge you £20+ for membership to get your UKARA form stamped, but at the same time the site just isn't exactly great. I met some really nice people who I had a lot of teaming up with, but they have some problem characters as well who don't call their hits and others using hot guns that they some how smuggled through the chrono tests (which actually wasn't very vigorous because they just called you to chrono, there was no confirmation that everyone had done it or that it had been done on that gun). I could never find a marshal near the action to actually do anything about the problems so I just soldered on.

GBB M4- hoping the new system is good and not a pile of pot metal crap. TM are pretty good when it comes to GBB system design so I have high hopes for this. Expect a high price from all the fancy stuff like CNC work and cerokete coating(And of course the TM brand name) M870 breacher,as expected. hopefully the new cylindrical gas tank will require less long term upkeep that the current one. A hicapa AEP is a nice addition, adds some variety since AEPs are slowly gaining popularity it seems. 417 recoil shock- Can we expect a new gearbox design? The larger buffer tube might allow a beefier recoil mech too. Might not be popular as a DMR platform since TM recoils are over engineered in some ways so modding is hard- but the battle rifle style would be very cool.

  7. Never lube the barrel and hop up rubber. Hop up rubbers should be dry and a little bit sticky to grip the BB better. It certainly does not need lubrication, otherwise it will slip and give you bugger all range. Clan hop up rubbers by taking them out and bathing them in warm, soapy water. I find fairy liquid does a terrific job of cleansing hop up rubbers. Barrels have to be as even and polished and possible since the BB rides the top,Silicone oil inside the barrel will prevent corrosion, but ruin performance. Clean barrels out with rubbing alcohol, and polish thoroughly, maybe use a VERY LITTLE bit of compound suitable to the metal. Barrels should be dry- Silicone gets into the micro pores in the metal and can give an uneven slipperyness so the friction of the BB riding the top will be uneven. You may find after lubing the hop up rubber and barrel will results in awful performance, get some isopryl alcohol to clean the barrel and wash the bucking in warm soapy water like I said.

  8. Silicone oil is good for lubricating Plastic-Rubber contact, like GBB nozzles, preserving rubber seals, like GBB fill valves and preventing oxidization. It's mostly useless on AEG gearboxes since you need more viscous grease, silicone grease for piston guide rails and the O ring,White Lithium for gears and bearings. White lithium spray is handy for lubricating bearings I find Silicone sprays are a waste of money, they often contain petroleum based propellants which ruins rubber, not only that but the oil itself isn't as viscous or long lasting as it is from a dropper. Silicone oil is best bought in dropper bottles, often sold at RC shops as 'Shock oil'.
    1 point
  9. Contrary to popular belief, no silicone spray should go near any AEG ever. Not only the rubber sucks it up and gets softer and swollen, even if you clean it afterwards, but dust sticks into it. Clean your barrel with alcohol and that's it.

  10. Most brands of BBs have bubbles. If it is in the middle then they are accurate, like Madbull. Bad quality BBs have bubbles in them randomly. Usually bio BBs and really high grade BBs (like SGM 0.29) don't have any bubbles.

  25. I wear shooting glasses (ESS Crossbow), have done for a long time and will continue to do so. The ONLY time I've ever had a BB inside of them was as a direct result of a poorly fitting lower mesh mask (which I have now ditched). The BB hit the top of the mesh and ricocheted up under my glasses leaving a small bruise under my eye. I believe the exact same thing happened to the guy in the thread dapprman linked and I honestly believe you're safer with shooting glasses and a gum shield than you are with shooting glasses and mesh. As for BBs finding their way through the gaps around the sides and bottom, while it is possible, it's pretty unlikely, not only that they'll have needed to bounce at least twice before they can actually get to the eye if your glasses fit properly. BBs are low energy projectiles, a direct hit on a completely unprotected eye will do some serious damage (I know this first hand having shot a friend in the eye in a freak accident), but ricochets use up a lot of energy. As for bio BBs being lower quality or less safe than normal plastic ones? Hogwash, blasters shatter, pro balls shatter, marui BBs shatter, G&G BBs shatter, madbull shatter. All BBs will shatter if they hit something harder than them at the right angle, if anything I'd say that certain brands of bio BB (green devil in particular) are less likely to shatter as they contain no air bubbles. Airsoft is becoming massively risk averse because of people doing the 'what if' dance. A fine example of that is in the 'did I do the right thing' thread where someone is suggesting that an airsoft gun at point blank could potentially inject air into a VEIN OR ARTERY (what the actual fuck?) based on their limited knowledge of biology and their perception of how high the air pressure in their gun is. It only takes a few chinese whispers for that to change from "this could happen I think, my science teacher told me..." to "gas pistols can kill you if you shoot a vein!". In short, if you're playing in woodland (CQB I recommend full face!) then shooting glasses that fit you properly are perfectly safe providing you don't add in a platform from which BBs can ricochet under/around them (e.g a poorly fitting mesh mask).
    1 point
  26. a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing. you are at ZERO risk of a BB piercing an artery or vein, even at 600fps I doubt you'd be able to damage one. this simply can not happen with an airsoft gun, stop worrying about it.
    1 point
  27. I'll keep the count at 0 since I'm pretty sure he's not blinded or permanently damaged (last I heard at least he was on the road to full recovery). He was the guy I was referring to as having been hit in the eye recently. The irony of his situation (and I've actually heard of this happening a couple of more times myself since the incident) is that his injury was caused as a result of wearing other protection alongside his glasses. Him telling this story has had the positive effect of quite a few people adjusting their lower face masks to be 'outside' their glasses however, thus ensuring nothing will ricochet up and under them, so that's a good thing. At the end of the day, as someone else has said, it's a matter of 'calculated risk,' and the more people who play airsoft over the increasing amount of time that it is played means that the odds of someone eventually losing an eye will constantly increase until it does happen (and wearing full seal will certainly lower your risk of being 'the one' over someone wearing shooting glasses). However, given the literally millions of man hours of play time within airsoft that have already happened, and the fact that nobody seems to know of anyone who has ever 'lost their sight' as a result of playing it wearing shooting glasses, I think that we can say the the risk of losing your eye in airsoft as a result of wearing shooting glasses is still amazingly low. Personally I wouldn't be surprised if the first time we hear of someone losing an eye it's some freak accident in a safe zone or some idiot kid playing in his garden. On the plus side, if you are 'the one' to start the 'I lost my eye at airsoft' trend, eye patches are cool! New loadout:

  28. Thanks for this - went to my local supplier http://www.ukfishingandcamping.com/gun-shop.html and asked him the same question and he gave me a "come to daddy" style gesture - he's an ASG wholesaler so can get pretty much any spare for any of their kit, including officially licensed AEG's - plus he'd service and upgrade it for £14 an hour (!?!?) and only charge me the standard price for spares/inner barrels etc! So looks like it'll be worth pursuing through him, and if it turns out truth and not guff, I'll post more details here (won't be bidding on the short barrel as it doesn't have the locking plate, but extreme thanks and kudos to remus for looking for it - thanks and happy bidding to the winners!)
    1 point
  29. I'd only wear full seal glasses/goggles such as ESS V12 or Smith Optics Boogie regulator. Mesh is also a viable alternative but I don't get on well with how they interact with light hitting them, likewise some people have issues with fogging using full seal eyepro. There was another thread on this very topic a little while ago that went into more detail so it is probably worth searching for that. It essentially boils down to whether or not you want to take the risk. People can and do get hit in the eyes wearing shooting glasses, that is just a fact. I would never risk it personally but if other people want to then that is their choice. Ends up really being calculated risks: In a similar manner I wear lower face protection in CQB but not in woodland, but at least your teeth can be replaced although I hope to never have to find out the process for doing so!
    1 point
  30. Ok. two opinions from me... I've used bio-BB's "for the sake of the environment" and seen these shatter - instantly dumped them all for fear of hitting someone with meshes on and the thing shattering (seeing first hand what can happen to poor grade BB's that I'd paid top Sterling for, I didn't want to risk my eyes with the same so have never gone mesh). I have unfortunately hit someone (in blackout conditions and a million to one shot) that hit the inner gap between open glasses (the guy has marshalled for years with the same glasses) and the BB ricocheed (spell check please) between the inner lense of his protective glasses, and his eyelid - I was on scene instantly to get the guy help and sat with him until he was prepared to go back in - call it guilt, call it respect, I never wanted anyone to feel the way I did so I always go full enclosed goggles (I'm short-sighted so wear contact lenses) and use Sea Drops (expensive for the bottle, but you literally use a drip per lense for half a day - this is what scuba divers use for anti-fog. So I invested £30 in a set of ESS Ballistic goggles with interchangeble lenses (really do make a difference in having the clear, smoked, and yellow - really surprised) - it's the price of an average walk on, but better than hoping a ski mask will do the job. Good luck, and always consider your mouth protection - you might find your choice of goggles then means you can't use your faceguard.

  31. I can get cans of Krylon for £7 or so from Patrol Base but yeah anything over that price I wouldn't bother. I bought some black spray paint from Motorsave for about £4 or £5 and it was just as good really.

  32. Krylon is very good, Plastikote can end up looking satin rather than flat matt if you put too much on. Another good alternative is Humbrol acrylic sprays available from good hobby shops, they do a huge range and cost about a fiver, though its a smaller can. Whatever paint you use it will wear and scratch over time though.

You might want to email the major airsoft mags, they have a directory of sites in the back with details of locations etc, the guys at airsoft action made a correction i pointed out within the month so turn around is quick.

Too far away for me, but it sounds like an interesting environment. Sound system? Welcome to the forums
