It's more practical and adaptable. New players will want something relatively future proof that they can change to their own needs as time passes In short it's better to have some modularity than none and new players will like the idea that they can set it up how they like it.

  6. So here I am.... A bit pissed but I was wondering,if a zombie apocalypse happend would it be woth shooting the scabby twats with your airsoft rifle, pistol, grenade? I reckon if they've been dead for a while (should be able to tell by the stench) then the putrid flesh would be easy to penetrate....especially if you can put a few through the eye socket! oops gotta go....time to close the cell door and take my pills!!!

  8. Looks good so far. The best M1911 is a TM, although I'd wait until you have some sort of registration like UKARA or a site membership before purchasing one so you don't have to have it 2toned. Despite this I wouldn't get a pistol just yet, I'd actually concentrate on saving for mags/batteries (and swap out to MP5 midcaps, MP5 hi caps are a bastard to use ). Just a heads up, that 'helmet and cover' you linked is just a flecktarn helmet cover, knockoff helmets cost around £30-£40.

  9. There are many many other companies out there with exemplary service, I wouldn't spend £5 let alone £900 with a company that seems to not give too much of a shit about service, there is ZERO excuse for the kind of service explained in this thread in today's market

  12. Vortex Optics Picatinny Rail Tripod Adapter Mount So, this wee timorous beasty seems to be very rare, which is exceedingly annoying since it is a small chunk of mild steel which any enterprising student with access to the average college metal shop could knock up in a couple of hours. So potentially useful is this little fucker however that I was prepared to at least consider buying it from the USA. I mean, while the USD continues its inexorable decline towards that value which represents the worth of goods and services which can be obtained from Americans, as opposed to the worth of Saudi, Kuwaiti, and Iraqi oil (& obviously it has a long way to go yet lol), 25 bucks isn't such a kick in the stones... although once shipping and import VAT/duty is added it may have become silly. But I will never know, because this item is not for sale outside the good ol' US of A. No doubt they are concerned that the Taliban may do what I am considering and use any of a number of NV equipped devices in conjunction with a red dot sight. My question therefore comrades is this: does anyone know where I can get one in the UK/Europe/HK/China? Or of someone who would have a bash at making one?

    Camouflage Tape

Yeah, I have no plans in spraying my gun - or as a matter of fact buying a RIF - before gaining UKARA membership when I'm 18. I'm pretty sure my parents wouldn't want a RIF in the house either, considering that I have a 9 month old sister, who may have a chance of getting access to it (of course, getting hold of an IF at that age is equally as bad). Camo tape seems the best option at this time, however thanks for your replies, Longshot and Nickona.

  15. G&G P90 and F2000 both have adjustable strength springs (basically a preload screw I guess) so you can adjust the FPS. Or you could fit a GB with a quick change spring (my M249 has this) or go down the ICS route as suggested and have different uppers for different sites. Or, y'know.....BUY MOAR GUNZ!!!

    Pistol holsters

I can recommend the Fobus kit - I use a left-hand paddle holster in the small of my back for covert carry (even though I'm right-handed). I've also just ordered one of these (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Airsoft-M9-Pistol-Holster-with-Double-Magazine-Pouch-/251535642800?pt=UK_SportingGoods_Hunting_ShootingSports_ET&hash=item3a90b150b0 ) as they're very good value. They tend to be VERY stiff when new so if you get one, you'll need to break it in

QFT. Saying a certain gun had trouble without naming the brand is pretty moot. Saying "my M4 had tons of problems then exploded and killed my hamster" doesn't exactly achieve anything, there's hundreds of models of ARs from dozens of companies out there. If the gun in question was a £1200+ PTW then yeah that's a very big deal, if it's an ACM LPEG (or indeed a brand like JLS) then it's basically to be expected, there's a reason nobody ever advises anyone to buy those super low-end guns after all.

    what is a DMR

DMR is a bit of a buzzword in airsoft. Essentially an airsoft DMR is an accurised and (importantly) more consistent version of a standard AEG. So you get your gat; you do some gearbox goodness so that you're always generating the same power; you pimp your hop in your chosen way and stabilise/accurise your barrel assembly with barrel spacers and the like. At some point during this process, your weapon will begin to be a 'dmr' in the sense that most airsofters think. The most important aspect of airsoft DMRing is locking out your full auto option. Going semi-only will allow you to go by a skirmish site's DMR FPS limit rather than their standard AEG one - generally around 400fps rather than 350fps, which if handled right can give you an extremely slight distance advantage, but really it's the consistency and accurisation that makes a DMR great - like a jedi with his own lightsaber, loving and getting to know your weapon and it's habits makes the two of you more effective automatically. If you want more information on DMR-ization, google 'The Holy Grail of airsoft DMR', there's a wonderfully in-depth thread out there somewhere. Disclaimer: I seem to remember some (often Milsim) sites don't care if your AEG is semi-locked, so upping it to 400fps could make it illegal at /some/ venues.

  31. I managed it with just under £600 xD I would recommend the A&K SVD but it can be a little problematic so for a beginner it might not be the best option. Love mine to bits and it performs flawlessly but it has taken about 7-8 months to get it working correctly. That is something that you will need a lot of...patience. Once you have it set up properly though, it can be INCREDIBLY satisfying. The L96 in the picture is a good beginners rifle as my brother has one. The Marui VSR that a few have mentioned is also good as my best mate has one (fully upgraded took the overall cost to just over £500 IIRC). Out of the box, the L96 is usable but it won't be able to out-range other snipers. It is a nice and easy system to work with though...and in my opinion they look gorgeous

  34. 450fps with a metal BB is still not exactly a lethal firearm though, a 9mm pistol for example is typically 1100-1300fps and that's with a seriously heavy bullet (7.5grammes approx for 9mm FMJ). For those who can't be bothered with the maths, that's about 570 joules at the top end. I should caveat that by saying that a 9mm is actually a fairly low energy firearm, the british SA80 (or L85 as you lot insist on calling it!) has a muzzle velocity of nearly 3100fps, with the 4.1g 5.56x45mm NATO bullet it fires. That's 1,767 joules and 5.56 NATO has received some criticism for not having enough stopping power in combat. Don't get me wrong, it'd hurt like hell and definitely break the skin, but as far as piercing bone and doing actual internal damage? No chance. In short, NO, your airsoft gun would NOT cut it in the zombie apocalypse, regardless of how big a spring you put in it.

  36. I have and always will stand by my somewhat outdated view that there is only one reasonable sniper-system in airsoft. The TM VSR series. That being said, I also refuse to believe that GBBR weapons actually exist, they're just a myth created by the illuminati to keep us blue collar 'aeg-guys' down. >.> <.<

  44. Preferably concise videos, where you can see what's going on. If their camera is getting rinsed by sunlight they shouldn't put it up on youtube, likewise if it is so dark you double check your monitor hasn't gone into standby. I'm personally not that fussy but it should be interesting and not staged. I have just remembered a group called Green Mountain Rangers. Trying to find the video as they are a right bunch of mongs. They get banned from a site for: rappelling down a lift shaft, jumping from roof to roof and kicking in a door and when they talk about it you would think it is just standard every day airsoft stuff. Here we go: http://youtu.be/E4ABsvRu86g?t=1m34s

A tank? As in well built? Are you kidding? He's a total computer, star wars and lego nerd, 'bout as scrawny as they come lol. I agree about him though, his videos are probably the best I've seen, he's good at editing, gets the audio balance right, cuts things at the right times and doesn't show footage if it's boring. The only thing I hate is that he only started airsofting about 4 months ago, and because he's a YouTube celebrity he's just been given all the best shit ever straight away. He doesn't really have any concept of the value of a lot of the things he has, I don't mean monetary value either, I mean he doesn't realise how badly lots of people want the stuff he has, he has no concept of how, why or to what extent the things he gets handed for free are sought after so he'll just rephrase the stats sheet the shop read out to him. He's done videos on the WE MSK, he's got a Polarstar M4 etc etc. anyone else would kill someone for that stuff, he just gets handed it for free by Airsoft GI because they're using him as a walking talking advert. His video comments are littered with people asking for advice but the guy doesn't have a clue. It's like watching a baby jump in the deep end of a swimming pool, but then enjoy drowning. It's annoying to watch, there's a sense of contempt about him that just grates on me.
    1 point
  46. That's my pet hate about his videos. He essentially made Daedalus famous because he'd show him firing a single shot - because he used a gas rifle and they're in Scotland, so that's probably all it ever did - and then he'd show someone getting hit, that he'll have filmed from another location, hours later. People had the impression that Daedalus was a crack shot and he'd hit people with a single shot at ridiculous ranges and it's just pure bollocks. It's never the person who gets hit in the video, that he actually shows getting hit, it's just a phenomenally annoying editing trick.

  47. Ed's videos are pretty decent, but for the most part a lot of the airsoft videos are just shit. I watch the devildog and levelcap ones, and whilst they aren't mindblowing at least you have an idea what is going on which is more than can be said for the majority of uploaders. I really don't understand what makes certain people popular though: take first person shooter videos for instance - a lot of them are terrible(as in skill) and some of them will instantly scream cheat when they get killed, yet they become popular enough to make a living off it....

I dont know if its because were both northern and thus sacred bretheren of the brotherhood of whippets and flatcaps, but somehow whenever i watch one of his videos i just really really wanna go airsofting. Though this is a sentiment/conpliment that i dont share often enough.

  50. I think you'd do more damage by smashing their knee caps with it to be honest, it'll slow them down that's for sure. If you do that, leave one left alive and you'll have time to re-build your barriers and pack-a-punch with little risk.
