I am after a reliable tech in or around East London/Essex who can work on a couple of G36 based RIFs and has access to a long distance range to test them.
As I am restricted to public transport they would need to be fairly close to a train station or well served bus!
Cheers

So I got the MP5 back from the tech today.
Shoots lovely and fast with its all new compression gear and barrel and the built in tracer unit for the hop is fantastic.
Unfortunately the one fault I asked to be looked at still occurs. The hop adjustment lever shakes into a neutral position within seconds of full auto. Looks like it's going back...

@Adolf Hamster that's what I will tell them to do. Otherwise I may suggest to TDC mod it!

My XM8 is now Negative Airsoft Famous!

@ak2m4 Get them to anodise it. A lovely gold finish that you can only see in the bottom of the magwell.

That's doubly disappointing then, as CYMA can churn out perfectly decent stuff. Maybe just getting to the end of life on those moulds.
Wouldn't it be a laugh (sadly, not for you) if CYMA were fobbing off their bad castings on Dytac. It'd have a certain ruthless logic to it - use the best stuff in your own gear, and put the junk out under someone else's brand.
-
@Rogerborg and Dytac charge twice the price! 😉

Yeah, DON'T order a SWAT VTG on their website.
Luckily my payment failed because when I emailed for another way to pay I got no answer.
Phew, glad I missed that one
Small as they look, the .209s are quite loud and I wouldn't want to throw anything louder at people. They're also incredibly cheap, working out to about 10p per throw.
So yeah, I'd highly recommend the Dynatex.
Be aware the rules at most sites is to only throw underarm and not above waist height as they would cause injury if thrown properly and land on someone.
That's where the cardboard pyro MK5's have an advantage.

BFGs are best for CQB really, woodland not so much unless its timed, but then you have the big risk of losing it in the undergrowth/mud etc . so personally @Asomodai I would suggest not getting one if you havent used and have no desire to field one. I know you dont like CQB much.
Bring the smaller ones to our next game, I will take them off your hands

So I require a Red torch for my up coming night battlesim, to preserve my natural night vision.
I don't want to spend money...
I took my torch (Which I made a bunch of new lenses out of roughly cut Chinese takeaway Tupperware boxes as the original plastic one broke) and coloured it in with permanent red marker.
Seems to do the job. If I want to make it redder then I will put layers of clear Sellotape on the lense with a coating of red marker pen per layer.

A year old barely used PTS PDR-C for 228 shipped worth it? Sight unseen purchase.
Its a real looker though I am aware of its short-comings. I can still get it new for 320, which makes me pause, maybe getting a brand new one to make sure there are no wear issues with the proprietary parts...

After a few months absence, the SE Tour reviews are back! Reporting back from Gunman Tuddenham!

Annoyed about how the ZCI and SHS motors are just not quite short enough for most short motor direct replacements.
Learnt how to do my first pinion gear removal to lengthen the flattish part of the pinion and reinstall gear to be shorter. Wasnt too hard though it's difficult to not cut into the pinion too much when flattening out a new section.
Now my M249 actually sounds reasonable!

Anyone playing either Ultimate Wargames Fawkham this Sunday?
Could do with a friendly face!
-
@MandalShArK Apologies. I meant Fawkham!
-
Anyone playing in the South East on the 1st of December? Dying for a game somewhere and would be good to mix it with some forumites.
Thinking of Skirmish Billericay for some long range shenanigans.

@poachers if the underground plays ball on the weekend then I would love to take you up on the offer. What is your play style? See if we go tag team on some players.
-
Anyone with transport going to a Skirmish within the next month around London/SE area? My battle buddy wont be able to play this month and relying solely on public transport to get to new sites means I am very restricted. I can meet you at any London underground/overground station to get to you at a rail or underground station. I can pay petrol money and bring my good cheer!
I can do Saturdays and Sundays.Cheers for reading

Are ZCI Barrels an upgrade over stock TM ones?
I have read fairly decent reviews. I usually buy exclusively Laylax Prometheus barrels. But as I get more guns, the upgrade costs rack up. Looking to put new barrels inside my P90 and JG MP5.
Is the Laylax worth the more then double cost?Did you find much difference between the two?

Never had a stock TM to compare one with.
What I do know is they beat most stock 6.08 JG/Cyma/APS barrels. There about the same as an LCT 6.02.
You can polish them and they get better if you do that.
If you are in doubt ask @ak2m4 He sells enough of them to know what's what with inner barrels.
There certainly better than anything made from alumimiun. I'd have a ZCI over the like of a madbull any day of the week.
If you really wanted an upgrade you might get one of the newer polished tolleranced Lambda barrels from ak2m4. Those should certainly be an upgrade. The 6.05 lambda 5 with the 1 micron finish should outperform pretty much all stock barrels out there if the polish is right. At £40-50 I will be taking a punt on one the next time I need an upgrade.

@L3wisD all will be revealed 😉 and no it's completely new.

Brand new G&G F2000 with ETU just arrived. Within 50 cycles the piston sh*t the bed! My luck!
The Cylinder head pad was loose inside the cylinder. Reckon that's what happened!

All fixed now! Definitely the Cylinder head pad caused the piston to destroy some teeth. Replaced it with a CYMA White piston and superglued the pad in. All good now! 280 FPS on .28's. Gears need reshimming but will wait until I get a new motor, ZCI Piston, cylinder head and cylinder (Seriously G&G uses a 3/4 Cylinder in a 430 mm barrel??)
Needs AOE corrected, but it will probably survive a skirmish!
@Steveocee, is that just the Perun mosfet section that can be used on the G&G ETU? I missed a brand new one for 40 quid the other day.
-
Yeah that's the one, 2 spades and total removal of the monstrosity G&G issued you with.
Have PM'd you 👍
-
Bugger, my completely upgraded MG36 gearbox is perfect, great rate of fire on just a 9.6mah NimH, not much noise considering whats going on inside.
Unfortunately shooting at 365 FPS on a weak M95 strength ASG Spring. I think I must have done a decent job on the air seal!
Hopefully going for an M90 or M85 wont cause double feed on single shot as its pretty close to doing that already!
-
Could it be that I have found the only stock M4 that I actually like the look of? And only costs £120?! Hmm. Dare I join the majority...

Got up early to go to Tactical in Croydon as it was the only site I could visit this month because of scheduling. Charged my batteries, all dressed up with bus times in hand, walked to the end of the road and turned back around back into the house and unpacked.
Even if I could get there in time the safe zone is too small and I might be setting up on the ground etc. It was the only site I have ever left from early before, 2 and a half hour journey on underground, southern rail, bus and a 40 minute walk.
Cant be arsed. Maybe I'll book into Bunker 51 for tonight if I feel like it.

@Albiscuit I decided against that too. Though there is talk of a gas and spring night soon which I'll be up for!

I am quitting the forums....
...From Saturday to Wednesday. Jetting off to not so sunny Malaga, never been to spain and I am not looking forward to trying to avoid pork dishes. Promised the missus I would stop talking to you 'orrible lot during the time we are there!
Really hope the weather picks up!
...Having said that... any decent Surplus stores in Malaga??? 👨✈️

I get a lot of PMs asking about some of my experiences with my somewhat esoteric rifles. The person who Pmed me bemoaned the fact that the could barely find anything about the rifle in his message.
It's such a shame however in response, you type out a large number of words that get's fairly in-depth, gets read and then... nothing for over 10 days.
Despite the user being online, reading the PM more then once (The time stamp updates every time it is read) and posting since... nothing.
A thanks really does go a long way. Why bother doing it when someone else comes calling otherwise?
I'll get off my nelly high horsie and back into my pink fluffy house now.
