    THE TM MWS thread

No no no, that brass collar is integral to the design... Look, personally you should let a 'professional' dealer sort out the MWS. Whatever has gone wrong to it can be fixed... I'd just send it to Eagle 6 and ask them nicely to help... Just send them all the bits you want adding to it and be done with it.... Call Richard and speak to him.

  3. As a taxpayer I wish they had just shot the pratt, a bullet and a funeral are cheaper than keeping these idiots in jail. It's not like morons are a protected species. More seriously though while the police did a good job descalating part of me as someone who has a brother on the job wonders should we really expect them to put themselves in harms way to do so. A police officer should expect to go home uninjured and alive and we the public should be behind that a 100% even if that means taking a harder line on those who are ultimately in the wrong. At the point someone threatens the life of an officer or member of the public with a weapon then as far as I am concerned their human rights go out the window. As for the American police I agree that better training would benefit but none of us can understand what it is like doing that job over there. The levels of violence towards the police over there in some areas is huge so you have to wonder after the crap they go through is it any wonder some lose respect for the job and the people they deal with. Not that that makes the actions of some right but maybe the actions of some more understandable. I would hope very few actually start the job without hoping to make a difference and just want to be bullies but if that is the case then they definitely need better screening.

    'Standard' Game Rules

I have asked people to surrender when I have crept up on them and have the barrel almost touching them, as it is more polite than a point blank shot! I have also been given the option, and was very glad of it, when 4 people with NODS managed to walk up right behind me at Cope Hill Down in a very dark building! I turned around to see the distant street light glinting off the business ends of four M4s inches from my chest 😬

  11. So got myself a little T10-s BASR by Action Army after a lot of historical forum reading and general reviews. This is my first personal sniper, have helped friend in the past with theirs but never sniped myself, initially ive sold it to myself on the basis it will be a lightweight secondary for taking out tricky opposition to keep me moving onto objectives I will put my hands up and say i did have a good hard look at the Nov' rifles, i did think they look pretty good but there is so much patchy info and obv neg feedback on what im sure is a pretty good product. That said there was just too many grey areas when it came to what you actually got in the rifle, i mean the SSG24 looks to be the best kitted, but also weighty - then theres reports of the hop units not actually being that usable due to coarse adjustment etc. The SSG10 looks good on the outset but then you find it gets low spec hop unit, cheaper trigger set (although good Bull unit) etc etc,. The M40 variant looks good visually but is just that, same as above SSG10 but with very expensive bodykit. They also are all long barrels, no G-spec stylee option off the shelf so thats extra cost in inner and outer barrel right away. Ultimately my take away from my research was they are a good rifle for those who dont want to tech, but it all comes down to money at the end of the day, its a business where you are paying for the name, more than its sum total worth?? Having seen the venerable TM VSRs being used to great affect, through extensive use stocks, fixing threads etc fatiguing or generally cheesing out, i wanted something with a sturdier construction but VSR compatibility. Fully aware all BASRs need upgrading to be competitive in the field i added up the cost of many builds using CYMA's JG's TM's and all sorts but the Action Army T10 came up trumps, and the fresh modern look is definitely attractive! I must admit im a sucker like many for external mods that do jack for performance, i like em pretty lol! So im aiming this thread at copying some inspiration real steel JAE 700 builds and what ive used to achieve the finish, but also trying to get max performance without blowing the bank. I will post results with said mods, and if something doesnt work then so be it, looking forward to seeing how this goes So heres my eye candy inspiration...

  14. Feel quite sorry for the police. Damned if they do, damned if they dont. Arguments for all outcomes and "they should have done this instead" can be applied to every scenario. For example; say the cop shot the prick. "Oh he should have used de-escalation tactics and non lethal force" or "excessive violence, just like the Americans, ACAB, kill the bill etc" Say he doesnt shoot, like this scenario: "He hesitated, he shouldn't be in the role, he cant keep the streets safe etc" or "what's the point in cops having firearms if they arent going to use them" etc. There are SOOOO many variables that joe public dont know about and the media typically only push thier own dogmatic narrative despite having less than half the facts....and the public lap it up and join in. Hats off to that cop; whether he had intel or prior knowledge of the weapon or not, he still looked down the barrel of that firearm and didnt know 100% if it was a lethal or if the prick would use it. Balls of fucking steel.

I'm planning to head back myself to check it out (assuming they survive lockdown). They seemed to have the right motivation so maybe they just had as bad an understanding of physics at the time as i did.

  17. As i mentioned in the other thread for a new gun i'd just send it back, theres nothing in that picture that looks out of place but i suspect the problem is internal with arm-piston interface. Either the ridge on the piston is worn/broken, the the arm is worn/broken, or there's just not the right angle/fit between them thats letting it ride over rather than lock into place.

  18. Doesn't take much to make a very strong item using fiberglass cloth and the right resin. Even if you sandwich with Matting and cloth 5-7 layers depending on the weight. Most of the later masks I made are very light, only a few millimetres thick. I've been using them over 15 years and a lot of cqb. But as people say most people are not that fussed spending money on face protection. These are the heads I've amassed over the years had to smash a few plugs and some made multiple masks I'd say I'd made about 100 bespoke fg masks over the years. Most of what I've done is the more basic kit as that's what people want. It's not something you'll likely make a fortune from.

  19. Unfortunately not being there or having access to all the information the officer had means any commentary on what should or could've happened is just armchair generals. As for policing in the UK and the USA, they're a very different job so comparisons between them is a case of apples and oranges

  20. It has a 45° sear, which is made of pot metal. Plus it comes in at 450ish FPS, which isn't good for that kind of locking mechanism. Moreover, the piston is plastic, but it's not AA T-10 quality, it's made of some cheapy plastic and doesn't last very long even at 1J. Unfortunately it's the theme of these VSR clones (even the TM one has 45° sears and plastic piston, but it clocks in at 0.8J and the quality/tolerances are miles ahead). I'd send it back and swap it for a better gun, the A&K M24 comes with 90° steel sears and it'll last much longer, on top of giving a smoother action of the bolt.

  21. It is not the prevalence of weapons that increases use of deadly force in the usa, it is the complete lack of training that many police departments give to de-escalation training, and other issues that I wont point out here due to their political nature.
    1 point
  22. De-escalation is something I think is something our police use more in general. I see videos from across the pond and they are very quick to pull weapons but then the prevalence of guns there would probably necessitate that.

  23. Had a really good chat with a firearms officer a while ago(I was sorting his shredded arm after a raid) and we were discussing shoot don’t shoot scenarios then , his take was as a British policeman his core ideal is to save life not take it and living in a society that is so against guns so they really are not the norm , no matter how much you train with them there’s still very few officers who don’t have that split second even micro split second hesitation before they pull the trigger , hence when there where all those raids on suspected terrorist sites a few yrs ago and there was thought to be a real risk of suicide bombers it was predominantly SF leading the breaching teams , No hesitation . Which I freely admit I’m more than happy having a police force the still sees firearms as a necessary evil and NOT something encouraged to be carried every day .

  24. that's your sear engagement surface, the lower part in that window is the trigger side, while the upper part is part of the assembly that holds the bolt in place. when the bolt is cocked the action of holding the piston back under spring pressure should push the upper part down until it's stopped by the lower part, pulling the trigger moves the lower part out of the way allowing it to drop firing the gun. the reason there's a window there is so you can visibly see when adjusting the trigger pull what's going on, eg how long or short a pull is required to trip the sear. it's possible to have the overlap set so light the mildest jolt could make it trip, but it looks more than enough there. i suspect your problem is more on the upper side, where the upper assembly has a hinged arm that catches on the back end of the piston.

Yes TechT on all your magazine O rings, and the piston lid seal. Gun oil on trigger set, and BCG to receiver PS you can generally wipe down the externals and clean all non rubber/silicone parts with the gun oil too. It serves as a cleaning agent, anti corrosion and lube all in one.

  27. even if we assume everyone on-site is perfectly abiding by fps and med rules, you could still accidentally pop your head up at the wrong place and catch a round from a sniper point blank who was trying to shoot someone further away. or the much more likely scenario that some scrote rocks up with a hot gun and is blasting away and you're the poor sod who rounds the corner on him. people can and do run far in excess of limits, yes we try as a community to stamp it out but the reality is it absolutely does happen despite all our best efforts and i dunno about you but seeing is something i quite enjoy. edit: probably relevant storytime: a much younger (although not fitter) hamster when he had just started out cut his teeth at a site that had, well, a questionable standard of chrono. he didn't realize it at the time but it was pretty normal (at the time) for the site regulars to be running a tad higher (read: a lot) than the specified limits, needless to say these regulars had no qualms pumping rounds into you at point blank range and the young innocent hamster just thought this is how airsoft is- hurts like hell, it was so bad it nearly drove me out of the hobby. during this time caught a few rounds to my first ever set of mesh goggles, fortunately (by luck of the amazon special lottery alone) they were the hexmesh type rather than woven wire and just about were up to the task of resisting the impact, although not without accumulating serious dents. it took me going to a different site with a different culture to realize what was truly going on, needless to say though the experience planted the seeds both of my obsession with range but also my hatred of people who run hot, because i've experienced first hand what it's like to be an inexperienced player trying to play by the rules against those who break them (whether it was ignorance or malevolence on the site's part i don't really know hence my reluctance to name and shame in the hope that the site has changed its ways in the years since). the point is that rating against the unexpected absolutely is worthwhile, for sure if i'd only ever worn eyepro capable of surviving the rated limits and no more i'd have pretty poor depth perception......

  29. Do agree with you on this . Comes down to making your own educated decision in the end , same as you do wether to wear mesh goggles or not ? What are the chances of a BB hitting the mesh shattering and penetrating your eye ? and equally what are the chances of a BB hitting the lens at the right point that it’ll break through and still have enough energy to damage your eye ? All the eye injuries I’ve ever seen or heard off have been the result of either the glasses slipping down or the player lifting there glasses for what ever reason in game , now not saying it won’t or hasn’t happened but me personally I’ve never actually seen or heard of an injury through the eye pro failing like this , I have seen a pair of normal glasses inside a pair of fan goggles shatter because the player took a full auto blast to the face from less than 10ft and the goggles flexed against the glasses shattering the one lens and the shards of glass ended up in the eye(luckily no permanent damage done because I was able to get the player NOT to rub his eye) Equally your asking for trouble if you wear £2.99 goggles from B&M’s or Poundland but I think you can make an educated choice to trust the ‘named’ Chinese brands like Emerson , FMA , etc they’ve got way too much invested in the sport to risk there standing and as a result there profits being trashed ?

  30. That's what I mean. Why test 500fps at point blank when min engagement is 20m? If a sniper were to shoot someone closer than 10m they should be automatically banned from the site.

  33. I have the Cyma Krinkov AKS-74U and a stick 11.1v LiPo (AK speck, 19mm dia?) will fit all the way through the wooden hand guard, I also owned the "Tactical" version and again the battery would slide into the front grip / gas tube area. Obvs the CM040 is a different beast but it might work. It currently runs a 7.4v lipo (120mm x 14mm x 18mm) that slides in easily (Ooh Matron!) and leaves plenty of room for the Gate NanoHard Mosfet. With a M115 spring, 16:1 gears, short stroked 3 teeth and a SHS High Torque motor it is a little monster Full auto isn't crazy fast but the semi auto trigger response is great (even with the horrible v3 trigger)

  34. Only issue I could see with using fibreglass and covering the mouth/nose area is anything that causes any kind of damage could cause fibre particle breaking off on the inside and in turn the end user inhaling said particle and fibreglass particles/dust is a bad bad thing to inhale. You may want on line the inside with a barrier but that wouldn’t stop any chipping around the air vents...

Managed to get a few photos of my platoon leader (feldwebel) kit for 2nd battalion, 7th company 125th regiment panzergrenadier kit 21 panzer division near Ranville on the edge of the Orne river on exercise spring 44. This company would be the one that's pushed away from Pegasus and Horsa bridge by Brit para's on d-day. It's been fun doing lots of research for this kit and with a much higher quality smock I feel a lot happier with my impression now.
