i finally managed to make it to RIFTs newest site this weekend, The Battery. as i knew it was going to be a CQB site, i decided my primary weapons for the day were going to be my new KWA Beretta M93r, my KWA GBB Skorpion and my John Wick hicappa and TM Lycoris Recoil pistols as my backups (alternating between primary and secondary throughout the day) but i took a couple of long guns such as my Tippmann in case they were needed, but ended up sticking with the short guns all day. i had purchased a bunch of mags for the m93 through RIFTs own shop, White Sphere Tactical, and arranged to pick them up on site... so once signed in it was off to collect the mags, bring kit into the indoor safezone. standard fare for chrono, but due to the CQB, ammo weight was limited to .28g. first game was team balancer and found that blue team was overly powerful, so as a lone wolf i got swapped onto red team with a handful of other players to balance the teams a little more. game modes through the day were all 30 min games with quick breaks in between for reloading, which wasnt an issue due to the relatively small size of the site. game modes included capturing ammo cans to HQ, moving a gas cylinder "bomb" to three capture points and capturing flag points around the site. TBH, not knowing the site, i was more focussed on just getting kills for the first half of the day, but i did help out with the objectives later in the day once i got more familiar with the site and my new guns. one thing i really need to look into is how to mount tracer units on the skorpion and M93, as these would DEFINATELY have helped in the indoor sections. i did have a bit of an oopsie moment (which i managed to turn to a win)... at one point a blue player was hiding behind some corrugated steel barricades at the bottom end of one of the yards, so i decided to charge the location, laying down fire with the m93 to keep the enemys head down as i crossed the open spaces. as i moved, the m93 gassed out (i think i reloaded the mag, but forgot to gas it.. oops..) so i quickly took the m93 in my left hand and drew my JW hicappa as i reached the barricade... where i hit a patch of mud, slipped over, fell into the barricade and as i slid past the edge of the barricade, managed to snap 2 shots off at the blue player, taking him out... after getting helped up, quickly checking my gear and fist bumping the blue player, i decided to call myself out to go and check my injuries and thoroughly inspect the guns and fortunately found the barrels were clear, so i was soon back out. and i was running a gopro on my helmet for the first time, so i might have caught my little fall on tape... in the process of downloading the footage as i type this message, so i should know in a few minutes.... EDIT i did indeed capture the incident on tape... https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/u1nsfc6n375ex1rm5ynb2/oopsie.mp4?rlkey=2rwbhjnlc7tm7ecp69fuvh75f&st=1sdak9fk&dl=07 points

Gun picture thread

Oh myyy......😍 I haven't been following this, but I'm gonna go back and find details! Anyway... This isn't that exciting when it comes to gun pictures, but I'm a happy boy and had to share. Last year I gave a friend my cheapy Cyma SVD, for servicing and upgrading. Then life got in the way. I got a rotator cuff injury, he lost his driving licence (illness, not booze), and what with one thing and another he's had it ever since. On Sunday I got it back. Full steel rack piston, 110 spring, different piston head, new hop rubber, hop nub, new set of bushings for the gears, combat union hop. Its kicking .3s out around 1.4 to 1.5 joules. I'm on site tomorrow, to continue with our site overhaul, and I'll be giving her a real test for range. Now all I need is an SVD sling.6 points -
Do I have multiple devices for cleaning barrels? Yes. Do I regularly clean my barrels and service my guns? Oh look a squirrel!6 points

I very much agree. Once bitten twice shy. I would rather drive 20 miles in a thunderstorm than buy from a shop that has pissed me off or ripped me off even if they were two minutes away.3 points

That's what I was thinking. I see they've positioned themselves carefully RE manufacturing defect, but seeing as the pew doesn't have a mark on it, they will be hard pushed to explain how it can be otherwise - which is also part of the CRA. Up to 6 months they have to prove it wasn't a factory defect. Thankfully over 20 years of running a business and having to deal with wankers in all walks of life, I have had to verse myself in several bits of law... I still keep the court documents where I publicly called a company out for being Snake Oil Salesmen - told them to F Off (literally) in reply to their Cease and Desist letter - then got the case thrown out of court without even getting a hearing. I can write a good passive aggressive missive when I need to. 😎 SWMBO wasn't so impressed at the time though. Genuinely I do hope they get themselves sorted because as I said in the opening post - the place is looking promising in terms of shop, range, tech facilities.3 points -

Yeah, Isopropyl and Isopropanol are the same chemically just different names. https://www.chemicals.co.uk/blog/isopropanol-same-as-isopropyl-alcohol#:~:text=Isopropanol is also called isopropyl, between isopropanol and isopropyl alcohol. They'll both get you equally high 🤣3 points -

I've pretty much covered that in my very brief initial reply... "Hi there, I would be interested to know which part of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 allows you to only offer a 30 day warranty? From my understanding I have 30 days in which I am entitled to a full refund. Up to 6 months you have a single opportunity to repair or replace it before I can request a refund. I have been very patient with this process as I accepted the delay due to your relocation; but more than enough time has elapsed for this to be resolved. At no time up to this point has the warranty been denied, nor was the repair deemed as chargeable when I left it at your premises – with the paperwork on the 12th March. Please repair the item and let me know when I can collect it." Will see what this does....3 points -

The overall size isn't too much of a concern to me as I've been to some very well run sites that are small, for example Invicta's Black Site. Also it means a shorter walk to respawn. I agree that the mezzanine bit could cause some problems though. I grew up just outside Cambridge and I know what you mean, especially as it's only gotten worse. People who say London isn't car friendly obviously have never tried to drive through Cambridge2 points -

They are nice to look at my HW weighed an absolute tonne, making my Scar just too heavy for me You have to get your eye properly close to see the reticle and you are shooting with one eye shut , like using a scope. I soon got rid of mine as I just couldn’t justify keeping it when I wasn’t enjoying it but you might 🤷🏻♂️ They are expensive to find out the hard way though2 points -

Hey, I’m Matt who owns Lancashire Armament Co, I just want to be absolutely clear that we never charge for parts sourced and only bill for CAD time on parts we design in house. I’m not suggesting your accusing me of such, but just for clarity of anyone reading this thread in the future. We charge for machine time and materials only as described in the invoice, for any paid or personal use only models our customers “instruct” us to manufacture the part on their behalf and we never share parts between customers who do not own licenses to them. We have a proven track record of enforcing users purchasing personal usage rights to paid models and will always do so. As contributors to open-source ourselves we respect the terms and limitations of the licenses imposed on us.2 points

Aldi and Lidl often surprise you with their interpretations.... Shows you how we get fleeced in this country by many big brands. I remember queing up with a load of farmers years ago because our local Aldi/Lidl (can never distinguish between them) were doing an air compressor and tool set for buttons. This was nearly 15 years ago and most of it is still going. Back then I serviced my own cars... Now I have a glorified Milk Float, I donated this all to my brother who uses it to look after his beloved E-Type.2 points -

I couldn't find it in the actual act but I did find this https://www.gov.uk/accepting-returns-and-giving-refunds#:~:text=You can ask a customer,(5 years in Scotland). As you had it for only 2 months before taking it for repair their claims of being out of warranty are simply bollocks2 points -
Personally, I'd tell them not to worry, your expected to pay for it due to their probably illegal approach to the consumer rights act, you'll collect it & pass it on to a reputable tech who'll sort it properly in a timely fashion & provide you with a report which you'll pass on to the manufacturer, along with a full timeline of the whole debacle. & then point out that you'll then publish the whole shitfest on every airsoft page, forum, & review website, ensuring that EVERYONE knows what a shower of shit they are. Then await their reply 🤔2 points
