  2. Well, yesterday at Red Alert was our 4th, and final, Battlesim in the Vukodlak war story line. The past three years Vukodlak forces have been victorious. Having played for Vukodlak in previous years, this year I decided to marshal which, as with many battlesims, meant playing as a civilian/quest giver. I spiced it up by playing as a pirate. I was giving out quests to find my lost parrot. There were 3 inflatable parrots hidden about the site, but I had drawn an eye patch on one, and in my quest spiel I mentioned that Polly only had one eye. If they brought back the parrot with the eye patch they got a reward. I also had a bottle of grog, which got hidden, and there was a reward if they brought me "alcohol". The main objective of the day was to find all the items needed to arm a rocket, and then launch it. The rocket is something I've been building recently, but kept off of social media so it would be a surprise for the players on the day. There were two nose cones, one for each team, a round one and a pointy one (pointy is scary). Other civilians had other quests. The drug dealers were selling bags of stuff, for in game currency. This could be handed in to the sheriffs for a reward, or bartered with other npcs. There was the Hobo wandering the site with his wheelbarrow full of junk, but underneath the junk was a laptop that contained the launch codes. Driving around in his pickup was the arms dealer. He would sell you weapons that you could plant on any unarmed civilians you may have shot, and thereby avoid a war crime. 😉 The Camels wanted water, mostly... Some civilians were mercs, that would fight for a team for short time, if paid well. At the end of the day Vukodlak were victorious AGAIN, despite some excellent play from the Calladian forces. It was a bloody marvellous day, that ended with both teams wearing massive grins and swapping stories over a beer. So roll on 2025, for a whole new story for our next battlesim! Unfortunately a lot of people had already gone home before we took the last photo after debrief.

I don't sadly. I do get asked about these every now and then. Just hard to source along with loads of other small plastic parts. I'm working with a friend at the moment to get our own injection molding setup up and running, will take a while but once it is then small parts like this should be readily available.

Not owned 8fields kit, but I've never had a mag, pistol or rifle, fall out of those kind of pouches, so it's probably safe to assume you never had it adjusted tight enough, not a criticism just an observation. As a young squaddie literally 4 decades ago, one of the first things we were taught was once your kit was loaded up, have a good jump around in front of your mates, looking for anything that might make a noise & give you away, & that everything is secure. Good rule of thumb before your next game.

If it's a repair under warranty my next e mail would say they've got a week to either complete the repair work or issue a full refund or you'll be taking legal action If they really do have a massive amount of warranty repairs to do then it makes me wonder how crap their stock is

  21. I may or may not be taking my outfits with me - although i might only take the lightweight rig as its hot and humid AF over there. The pews will be lovingly stored with a parent - probably the old man as he has real steel to look after so he knows how its done. No point taking them to the land of little people as they'll all need downgrading. The thought of me rocking up to a field there dressed in full Osprey kit and juggernauting my way around the game zone squishing all and sundry is rather amusing. The MK4 is size 190/120 and i have brassards and a full collar for it somewhere. Made that mistake last week trying to buy shirts at a retail park in Chiba (not China).... Japanese 3xl is an L there too. So me trying to get into a shirt with 3xl on the hanger was.... an exercise in itself.

  24. As @Sewdhull mentioned, it's all down to fitment. Some hop rubbers will fit tighter than others, some barrels are slightly bigger outer diameter than others. You could also look at something like this: https://www.airtechstudios.com/collections/g-g-cm16-srs-7/products/universal-advanced-hop-up-chamber-inner-barrel-ring which will help hold the barrel centred and secure.

  25. If the smoke was coming from the trigger then I doubt it was the battery as they're in the stock. I'd say it was a problem with either the wiring or the motor. Imo you did the right thing sending it back. Too many people in this hobby are happy to buy something, find out it doesn't work and then spend more on fixing it. As far as I'm concerned, if I'm spending several hundred quid on something it had better work out of the box or it's going back
    2 points
  26. It's the fit really and yes some clips fit better than others at least that's been my experience. I have used a little epoxy to pad out the clip so it has no play, but you need to carefully align stuff and then let it cure. In short, I roughed up the barrel flats, degreased em, then put a little epoxy on the flats and put the clip on. Once the epoxy firms up take the clip of and use a knife to tidy the excess. In a perfect world id put the epoxy on the clip but it doesn't adhere as well to the clip as the barrel. If the barrel and bucking are moving together you can shim the bucking to the hop with PTFE tape. Also make the front part of the hop snugger onto the barrel (where the ring goes in if you have one) If the barrel is moving inside the bucking you can shim the front part of the bucking to the barrel and make the front part of the hop snugger as above.

  27. So I have been really struggling to find a minerva piggyback Placard in stock anywhere, I really liked that some of the UKSF lads had adopted it for holding flashbangs on the front of the mag pouches so because I couldn't find one anywhere I decided to make my own I used an elite spanker triple molle pouch with a pistol pouch front and a thread picker removed the pistol pouches and bought a meter of multicam elastic, I have a girl at work who is a brilliant haberdasher and has done some kit repairs for me in the past so I gave it to her to do for me but unfortunately her machine couldn't get through the thick material so I went to hobbycraft and bought a pack of needles and thick thread and some beer because this was going to take absolutely ages 😂 I'm more than pleased with the outcome it only took about 3 hours of using pliers to ram the needle through and I only stabbed myself about 15 times 😂

We're doing a lot of maintenance right now. More bridges to come, some structures to be torn down and replaced, some repaired, some new ones. Woodland with a few knackered barricades just doesn't cut it. The decking will be gritted and painted, for extra grip. Think skateboard grip tape, on a larger scale. We've had 6 of us jumping down on this one. My welds hold 😉 20240425_150829.mp4 Oh, and I added this today. YARRR!

  29. So a while ago I started to build a hk21e machinegun based on a jg g3 but the gun was a bit screwed and I made a bit of a hash of upgrading it so That rather killed my motivation for working on that. I recently sold off that gun as part of my process of swapping entirely to gbbrs. Having watched a few explosive enterprises vids I decided to give this another go. This time the base gun is a we gbb g3. It came to me with the barrel shortened and Ive just picked up a proper hk21e style clubfoot stock for it. Im planning to model and print most of the bits for it in plastic and then send them off to be done in aluminium when im finished. This is just the first step. 1 new sight block that just sits on the cocking tube and dosent go down to the barrel. 2 front handguard cap with a block hidden under it which bolts to the handguard pinhole to keep everything rigid 3 a sleeve to go over the barrel to give it the proper machinegun profile. I have sanded and painted this bit since the proper barrel is tapered and making one of these in metal would be a pain. will probably leave it plastic. It just screws onto the outer barrel nut and gets pinned in place by the flash hider. next up is to make the rear handguard cap and order some steel or aluminium tube to make the actual handguard. Ill be building a pinhole into the rear handguard cap where the belt feed mechanism attaches. This would normally be on the reciever instead of the magwell but Im trying to make this in a way which requires as little modification to the base gun as possible. Once the belt feed assembly is made ill be making a box mag to slot onto it, fitting the guts of a 249 box in there, hpa tapping the original mag and drilling a hole in the front for bbs to feed in from a spring tube. Im not really a fan of hpa but for a gbb lmg like this its simply the best option.

HPA is only more reliable if (like gas) you're happy to do the maintenance. A well set up AEG can be consistent enough for a game where the slightest whiff of a breeze can make a mockery of the money you've spent on making your gun super accurate and consistent! Thing is, social circles (like many corners of the interwebs) are basically echo chambers. All your friends think HPA is great, therefore you are more likely to go HPA because that's all you've heard about.

  32. You posted this just before I was about to put an update on XD. So originally I was trying to use the original mag and hide it inside the box mag which would have lead to a much larger box mag than reel steel. I was also considering chopping the mag in half and splicing it smaller until @The_Lord_Poncho Made a suggestion that had somehow entirely slipped my mind "3d print one" And so I have designed and printed a new bottom part using the top half of the original we magazine, no modification needed. To be clear this will be sent off to be machined or printed in metal before I use it but I have tested it by pumping it up very slightly with my hpa pump (while wearing safety glasses) and it does infact cycle the gun just fine though it leaks around the bolts even with o rings which a metal version will hopefully fix. Did also have to remove the paddle mag release to get the connector in a good spot. having it this short also opens up an interesting possibility. I think I am going to add onto the bottom of it a dovetail or something similar and while I will make a box mag to use I am also considering a magazine adapter for vietnam style short m4 mags. With the belt feed mechanism and a short length of dummy 7.62 the mag would be barely noticeable and id be able to run the gun without the need for a box mag. Obviously Id need to get myself a supply of vn midcaps which are hard as hell to come across right now but I think this could be a great way to use it. If anyone has any suggestion's for some other 100 or so round midcaps that would be small enough to not be noticeable Id appreciate any ideas. Also 3d printed a guide to mark out the holes on the handguard and started drilling and cutting them into some 40mm aluminum pipe. The raised ridges on the handguard will be 3d printed additions and all of the small holes are threaded for m5 bolts so I can swap the ridges out for rail sections and the offset foregrip when I get around to modeling and printing it.

If you find any let me know lol. I had some 3d printed a couple of years ago and they lasted really well but the last one has recently failed. Most places seem to be out of stock. Patrol base had them but it was crazy postage price.

  38. I used a dmr for the first time ever yesterday and I must admit, I caught myself a few times flinging more BB's than I should have at the start of the first game. It took a bit of mental work to make sure I only sent one bb down range at a time, however personally I found once I had got into a routine of the timing it soon became almost muscle memory! The play style was rather fun too, it was nice to change up the pace from normal running and gunning.

  44. Played again at TAC House Spartan "The Stan" this sunday, we linked up with F Team Airsoft who drove up from portsmouth to Sheffield to give the site a try. All in all a good day, we clocked in the fastest pushback time ever since the site re-opened at just over 9 minutes. we defended it for 23! Decent selection of games as usual and they have just opened up an new staircase and we were the first ones to play across 3 floors, which is not great on the legs! Hit taking was good (it usually is here) and everyone seemed to play in the spirit of the game which always make the day better. if you haven't been back to the Stan since it re-opened it is well worth a visit. First Airsoft gun

Ah, the classic HPA vs AEG debate... Personally, especially for a first gun, I'd just go with an AEG. HPA setups are really expensive as you're either paying £800 for an MTW, or you're paying £400+ for a HPA engine to stick into an AEG, so it's probably going to end up about £600 there with no guarantee it will work amazingly well. Then you need a tank, line and regulator so that's another £100+ to add in. I'd much rather pick up an AEG plus a ML hop rubber and nub for a fraction of the price. When people say that they have a 1fps variance on their HPA setups, firstly it's more than possible to do that with AEGs (probably for cheaper), and secondly that level of consistency is entirely unnecessary; not saying people are wrong for chasing it, but you absolutely don't need it to be competitive and hit consistent, accurate shots. At the end of the day, we're shooting plastic balls at each other that weigh less than half a gram and all the consistency in the world won't stop Mother Nature from deciding that your shots shouldn't hit at times. Trust me, as a long time bolt action rifle user I've seen more than a few shots veer off target because of a rogue twig or gust of wind £500 for a first gun is a lot, so you should be able to get something really nice. If you're interested in AR-15 SPR style rifles, I'd advise looking at the Cyma Platinum range. My friend has a cm097, which is an AR-15 SPR style rifle, and it's really good out of the box. Makes a fantastic platform to work on, but doesn't actually need that much to make it shoot really well. A Maple Leaf macaron hop rubber and an omega nub is all it really needs, but a nice 6.02 ZCI barrel can help with voluming and would easily fit into your budget. I'd spend the rest on load bearing gear, a nice sling, an optic, mags, an Odin speedloader, batteries, BBs etc. There's plenty of other things that you could get to make your life easier beyond just the gun, and this is all assuming you already have spent out on good eye protection and a good set of boots. If you do eventually go down the GBBR route (a great route to go down, but definitely not for everyone), it'll still be great to have a solid AEG as a backup rifle, just in case of issues or cold winter temperatures making gas far less efficient.
