@TheFull9, this really made me chuckle , every briefing at every site I just glaze over and light another Marlboro whilst dreaming of battling through these epic locations like Chuck Norris from Missing in Action 2 . part 2 should cover actually arriving at said locations though ….. "So yeah.. red team will start by the zombie infection site zero laboratory.. yellow team up in the North East by the Wehrmacht bunker complex. After proceeding through the graveyard that's underneath the medieval fort, the attackers' spawn will then move along to the missile launcher trench complex. Once they've taken the CQB windmill they can then plant their bombs in the Vietnam ambush valley, but watch out for reinforcements from death ridge! Oh and naturally when crossing the Bridge by the fuel depot you can snipe down from the bus as long as the fence line that borders the farmer's field is free of cows and sheep today. Never forgetting the SUPER VISIBLE fishing line boundary marking that runs from grid square echo charlie and through the woods over to firebase Potato". ... Personally I can barely remember the last time I played the same site twice on the bounce. I'm also pretty sure that almost every single game ever played on a commercial site has always had at least a portion of first timers and/or pretty new players. I don't know, maybe my navigation and layout memorisation abilities are rubbish, but I wish game briefs didn't always sound like this.5 points

Bit bloody windy yesterday, but still a good turn out. However, even though it was pointed out in the brief that the wind would affect accuracy, there was a lot of claims about hit taking, and for the most part it was just the usual cases of people thinking they're better shots than they are. One guy was talked to about hit taking, and after that he was definitely playing fair. Put a lot of miles on the clock, and really feeling it today. And remember, your friends dump pouch always works as a bin.4 points -

I think sniping should be age regulated. Make it for the over 60 age group. That would limit the numbers and speaking for myself I'm not as fast as I used to be so it would be a much more relaxed game for me. I don't mind paying £30 to lay down, take a shot now and again, have a nap in between times and shoot a few more leaves. I could come home from a game without injuries and feeling refreshed. Sounds good to me lol. The above is just light hearted not a serious suggestion. 👍 Regards4 points -

Lots of interesting points and counter points being made here. Personally I'm not a fan of telling people you can't wear x,y or z (unless it's a matter of player safety) as we've all paid to be there and nobody likes to be told how to play, but I can understand why sites would do it. If a game is grinding to a halt because one team can't get more than 10 yards from respawn before being hit then to me the site should be taking steps to change the game either by rearranging teams or by moving players back, eg by deploying smoke to simulate gas. Yes this can be frustrating if you're the one being moved but it's just as annoying being stuck in respawn and is likely to make people give up which then only snowballs and makes the game worse. Unfortunately this would require site staff to actually do some work which, as we all know, can be a rare thing3 points -

I've been using leaf suit ghillies since 2004 and made the very first Chinese leaf suit ghillie. So I was using what is seen everywhere now, long ago. Back then it gave massive advantage to our group as we were playing a different games type to everyone else and no one was used to looking for well crafted ghillies. You went unnoticed more often. Things have changed, just as my group said they would if our suits became mainstream. We said , it would change the game. You see we had already changed the game and all players used these light mesh leaf suits and played total Stealth game. Our game, called hunteering had evolved from our hard-core airsoft club that had run since 1991 and all our events were based around Stealth and fieldcraft. We developed better suits than traditional heavy designs and made a game where every player used a bolt action and Pistol and handfull of ammo that lasted several days, by yourself. It was the pinnacle of what we love the most .... the stalk ..... being hunted .. navigation ..... hard routine and total immersion in nature. Anyway, we said it would change skirmish/airsoft if aspects of our game and equipment became mainstream. However I agree that ghillies should be limited to only bolt action snipers, in the interest of gameplay. Why? For the reasons you give at the top. Bolt action is the most disadvantaged airsoft gun on the field ..... long MED ...no follow up shot.. small mags ...... expensive ..... most technical to setup well....... have to be stationary to stand a chance of hitting someone..... that's why we play with them. They provide the hardest challenge. My group don't do DMRs as we kind of see them as too high a rate of fire to provide the same experience ... you can walk fore onto targets etc lay down rounds while moving .... big mags .... hi semi auto rof..... etc etc I guess we see it as cheating tbh lol So make a bolty player more specialised as a Sniper by allowing him a full ghillie. Maybe DMR can use a jacket only? AEG player can have a ghillie hat only? But that is if you want a balanced game .. which skirmish isn't.... its a pay to win environment due to lack of limits around equipment and ammo. As is, there is no penalty for putting down 100 rounds at someone in 3 seconds. It's a fraction of a mag. Our own game identifies all the limitations that we could use to create a better, more balanced/skillful environment. That is what our "underground sport" is about ...... getting what we want from the time/money invested in the activity. As is, airsofters are moving towards hose pipes you can quickly walk into target without even needing sights and liberally hose that area down till one bb hits. Personally I want more from my game than that. Airsoft is essentially hide and seek ... and tag. You can't blame people for finally realising that hiding is how you win. However, as you say would you rather skirmish is about hide and seek or more about tag?3 points -

Yes - the weight is more down to the hop in the gun and the environment you're pewing in.... outdoors you want a .25 or .28 really otherwise leaves become a deflector screen, and Bush wookies might not feel the impacts. If you're indoors, then I see no need to use anything more than .2s. With increased weight comes increased cost too. There's a thread with a spreadsheet somewhere on the forum with links and prices - I'll see if I can find it. Here we are:3 points -

If there's a tangible danger to others then someone's disability or neuro divergency / whatever is irrelevant. I'm in a mixed race marriage, I'm somewhere on "the" spectrum, I have three nephews anchoring said spectrum to the ground, my teenager is mixed raced (and currently hating it) and I think our gay friend contingent is just about offset by my devout muslim workforce..... So I like to think my worldview is pretty balanced. That being said.... We spend too much time in this world worrying about those differences, when really we should all be treated with the same consideration and respect as we wish to have. Therefore, if you're one of those that should be seen next Tuesday, then you should be treated thusly. I remember coming of age in the 90's and caring more about people being nice to one another than worrying about their situation. Airsoft sites need to worry about people's eyeballs more than they do the ability to walk, think, self identify... I think that is probably how society should look at things too.3 points -

Sunday at Special Ops "The Fireplace" My second trip to Carlos's new CQB site, and this one went better - I didn't get lost on the way, I didn't forget anything, I took less stuff (maybe connected to the previous point), and I had some better idea what to expect Considering my knee is knackered at the moment, I went a bit brave and booked in for the full day - £35 for 9:30 - 18:00 I'm a bit crap at remembering and describing actual gameplay so I'll just throw some thoughts at ya... Carlos has put together a decent playbook of games already He's put together a mildly amusing briefing video that gets all his usual info across in a nippy 10 minutes The helicopter helps block some of the line of sight to the first spawn, but it's still eminently 'trappable' by a good team 'Chopper' jokes might get old when everyone is doing them Grenades are fun Except when it doesn't go off, and you have to make The Walk Of Shame to retrieve it! A full day is a long time if you forget to take a packed lunch (only 'food' available: crisps, choccies and Pot Noodles) The 4-a-side mini tournament at the end of the day was great fun whilst you're playing, but the winner-stays-on style means there's a fair bit of waiting around. Some people bailed out, I was tempted myself as I could barely get up off the floor where I'd been resting. There were some long delays - Jet (for it that is his appellation) got his miniature scales out and checked everyone's BB's to make sure no-one was exceeding the 0.25 limit. The lunchtime changeover dragged on a bit due to stragglers, as did some end-of-game bomb-ups. Still, by lunchtime I was already grateful for the breathers, but others might have been annoyed. Hit-taking was mostly good, but a couple of annoying instances of having to pump multiple shots at people to make them "admit to the hit". This 'ere fat bloke running with a brick of Colombia's Finest Marching Powder, retrieved from that there heli-chopper https://www.facebook.com/100060685493832/videos/pcb.933626975336810/7277546335698561 This chap sitting In Da Chopppppppaaa pinned us down for a while. Yay! This was my first experience of running an HPA system, and the tank and line weren't nearly as troubling as I suspected they might be - once I'd fed the line through my shoulder straps to keep it closer to my body. And swapped the tank from a belt pouch that wasn't designed for such a bulky / heavy item to a lightweight rucksack. The Tippmann was great - plenty of 'bang' with every shot, it really is the next best thing to a proper GBBR. It was also my first game with a tracer unit. Carlos is selling 2000x0.25g Bio tracers for £13 which seemed a pretty decent price, considering. I did get through ~3000 during the day (I took some Vorsk ones I'd already bought from Amazon, they were fine). Tracers proved damned useful in the dim lighting for getting the hop and sights sorted out (or allowing you to still hit stuff even when they're not!), and when Carlos dimmed the lights further in the late afternoon, those green streaks of light sure looked purdy I also took along my proven faves - the VFC HK416 GBBR (every shot remains a joyful experience), which I used until I exhausted my gas can. And of course the DE M906C Old Faithful (which in comparison to the other gats really showed it shoots like a frickin' laser beam - especially impressive with the tracers). Shame the thing currently screeches like a cat being run over by a steamroller, even after my attempts at adjusting the motor height. No wonder the motor got a little toasty again. I need Luke to fix it up for me. The HPA experience means I'm really quite likely to buy an Airtac adapter for my '416 now... the realistic gas mag changes are fun, but my 'speedloader' didn't exactly live up to its name (it's getting very graunchy), and with only 3 working mags I wasn't quite on it. I think the adapter plus a bunch of (relatively dirt-cheap) mid-caps instead will be a decent compromise. All in all a very good day2 points -

I agree with @GenuineGerman, spend a few sheckles more and get the Specna. Those included chargers are only worth using a few times until a better one arrives. I would seriously hold off buying anything until you have had a few game days - even if only to give you time to get a list of bits that will last you and you've had a chance to try a few other player's guns. You might decide you prefer an MP5 instead of an M4. A proper charger is a must, and eventually you'll be changing battery connectors to better ones. Spend wisely. Ask nicely at chrono/the site's range and people will let you have a few rounds down course. A lot of us will let you have a game with a back up gun or one of our less expensive babies.... I let a lad have a couple of magazines and a pistol last time out because I could see he was envious on us running around popping caps in people's asses, and he was a rental on his first time out. Two-tone can be undone, but it does reduce the resale value of the pew. Those few weeks waiting for UKARA will fly by and you'll be in a better position as a result with better targeted purchases.2 points -

Okay, so controversial topic. I'm assuming this persons disability is something like ASC (not allowed refer to it as a spectrum now, which in itself is silly as there's a clear difference between functioning and non functioning imho) Anywho, the biggest disservice believe it or not for those with ASC that you can do, is to treat them any different than regular folk. (Applies to what we would call functioning ones) So, this person had to be shown that what they did was wrong and banning them because of their actions puts people at risk is fair and reasonable. It's not discrimination to do. In terms of other disabilities - well, last year at driver wood there was a guy in a wheel chair (running) an LMG and other than the poor bastard getting overshot because he cant both keep hand in the air and wheel himself back to spawn. Airsofters will generally accept every one due to one simple reason. Don't matter what you look like, what you believe in, or what's wrong with you.....we will happily shoot you without hesitation.2 points

Did not play as I had non-airsoft plans (surely not!) and was mildly annoyed that the first sunny day is the one that I'm not free. Then remembered that my leg is buggered anyway so it would have made no difference. The Ghillie discussion is probably one for another topic, since there's bound to be quite a lot of opinion on it. I have to say I'd be in favour of fewer of them and this comes purely from personal gameplay observations. 1 - Many ghillies with HPA M4's where you can no longer see or hear your opponent can lead to an awful lot of stalemates where nobody can advance (depending on the site layout/games). Like many things, it's hilarious when *you're* lying invisibly in a bush silently murdering everyone, but gets a lot less entertaining when everyone's doing it. 2 - Hit taking. Normally when having issues with hit taking the standard process is "This player, wearing this camo, with this rig and this type of helmet, using this gun - I believe was not taking his hits". This now becomes "Someone in a ghillie", which makes it a lot harder to resolve issues when there's 10 of them. But, we'll see how it plays out. Probably still plenty of sites there that don't mind you doing it whilst you wear your armbands on your feet, etc. if that's your thing.2 points

If the player was acting aggressively or dangerously then give them the boot as the site had a duty of care towards all players, if their behaviour had the site not acted and the person's actions led to someone getting hurt then the site would've been in serious trouble. As the site is happy to cater for those with disabilities it sounds to me like the banned player is trying to use their disabilities as an excuse to act like a cunt.2 points -
Unfortunately it's all too easy these days for a wrongdoer to scream "foul", & Unfortunately I've known a few disabled people, some since childhood, that will play on this, in much the same way that some use the race card to their advantage, which again I've witnessed firsthand, in one job in particular. @OrlithNightfire , if you personally witnessed his poor behaviour, theres not much more to discuss, he went against site rules & got banned, end of.2 points

I am right over the other side of London, almost in Kent. Ambush Airsoft in Cobham is still open. Before buying your first rifle, play your three games at the same site in not less than 56 days and get your UKARA registration, so that you don't have to buy a two toned gun. Try to get your hands on as many guns as you can to see what suits you and what you like; as others have said, most airsofters are more than happy to bore you to death with information about their guns. If you want to make a safe first purchase, the Specna and Double Eagle M4 style guns are decent.1 point
