Hello, I have not been around since 2016. I recently moved back to where I used to play airsoft, so want to try it out again, my UKARA expired in 2016. I have emailed the site I used to play at but they have not got back to me. Will I have to play the 3 rental games again? I have done a little bit of research, seems like the `Double Eagle M908B` is the new go to starter gun? It was a g&g combat machine when I used to play. Will I be somewhat competitive with a cheapo gun like that, (50-60m with .28s)? Also can anyone recommend me a lightweight cheap chest rig, I've found this https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/8fields-tactical-compact-multi-mission-chest-harness?fv=11580 but can anyone recommend me something else. I just want to hold 2 extra mags that's all. Also, have any new sites popped up around Essex/London? Can anyone recommend a good CQB site? Thanks for reading, and I'm excited to be back.2 points

B6 style battery chargers.

I built an XL4015 for breaking in a new motor, cost me Β£4.60 (plus wiring etc) and you can change the voltage to whatever you want with the display, plug a battery in and it will run a good while at 1.5 V, above this voltage the motor gets too warm and warm is no good for the magnets Good for seating new carbon brushes and cleaning the commutator with a qtip and a drop of brake cleaner The carbon brushes are more durable than I thought tho, you can spend days running without fully seated the new brushes2 points -

Welcome back. The G&G combat machines have lost their spot as the go to entry level gun as they've priced themselves out of that market. Why would you pay over Β£200 for a gun when you can get one that's just as good for almost half that? If you're looking for a CQB site in Essex then try CAMO CQB in Canvey island. It's quite a small site but is well run2 points -

It's about a 3.5" group at 18m. (just realised I'm mixing my scales ridiculously, but that's what I've measured), I did upgrade the bucking and nub (see my own DE 906 thread), but I don't think I saw much difference from stock, tbh. And it hits out to at least 50m, and will run 0.32s. I seem to outrange a lot of other players (but then maybe they're just rentals with badly hopped guns, so not necessarily the best evidence). I've never been disappointed with my DE. Well, until the fire control unit started playing silly buggers. Maybe the 11.1v spamming was too much for it after many thousands of shots. Bought a used replacement for Β£15 quid.2 points -

Yeah I'm going to buy whatever the recommendation is too, but we didn't we do this quite recently? Pretty sure it is either a G&G for the smaller ones (or, ridiculously, the dragon / dick shaped ones), and it's the TM for the M4 size version2 points -

The continuing travails of a returning airsofter.
UK-Recce reacted to GraniteFraggle for a topic
So after lets just call it at least a decade away I finally feel that I'm back, so I thought it'd be interesting to share my journey as attempt to get my head around the changes in tech & re-develop my loadout to match my play style which hasn't changed in the meantime. First off, I'd forgotten just how much I'd missed this both mentally and physically. I've been laid up in and out of hospital the last few years - to the extent that I've gone from superfit to completely broken. I finally found something which I could actually do without landing me back in A&E last October & thanks to a push from my wife - I tried out a game at my local airsoft site. I sold up pretty much everything (it was around the time of the in-fighting over setting up UKARA - alongside some horrible personal issues that was the final straw). So I had my old ICS552, my custom WA S&W 1911, my 8mm Redhawk & a battered CYMA M3 rip off. Despite the WA utterly failing in the cold weather, the SIG shedding parts & developing the fire selection switch developing the attitude of a teenager I had a whale of a time. Finally picked up my PASS & the intervening time let me try out the modern "toys" and get my head around what I enjoyed. I've never been a kit nerd when it comes to fiddling/upgrading or to achieving a particular loadout "style". Instead I've always ended up picking out what for me is the "best of breed" in terms of what does what I need it to, hence you could politely describe my look as that of a scruffy mercenary - as opposed to that of someone as likely to sell you a big issue as shoot you. I did get an ego boost from being described as a "Ukrainian nutter" though So in terms of clothing/webbing I just go with what is comfy. At the moment its a pair of yard boots (closest thing to trainers in terms of comfort), an old pair of combats, norge, appropriate layers & a russian OMON style vest. Its light, room for 3 spare M4 style mags, shotgun shells, 2 blank firing grenades & some high energy shack items. I then go with a belt running two bianchi holsters & spare revolver shells/pistol mags. Its nice to be able to dump the belt at the safe zone or go down to one sidearm without having to reconfigure everything. So my general "normal" loadout now is as follows ... SA-15 Edge - Batteries have moved on! Being able to fit a single battery in the stock which is enough capacity for a full day's play is a revelation. Battery capacity was always a factor in the past - so its great to be able to pick something I love the feel of without worrying about having to change/carry a spare. Aside from the tight inner barrel I didn't think there was much point in going for anything gucci. My AEG has always been a tool first. Hops have come on - I remember the old TM hop with its tendancy to unwind randomly (I ran both an M4 & SR16 for a while) but this is easy to set how I want it - and it stays that way. I also hated M4 mags - partially a look & feel, partially having to spend so much time keeping them working & feeding. Very much a fan of the new S-Mag style, plus no feed issues with either hi or mid caps. 3 spare mags in the OMON vest. Shotgun - a reliable backup and sometimes main for CQB/thicker woodland. I love tri-barrel shotguns. I sold my modded M3 when I quit - so I picked up a BO Fabarms one to replace the battered CMYA one. Its similar size & weight but definitely has more poke & consistency just like my old TM but at way less than half the price. Will run as a spare as looking to get hold of a Secutor one as its even smaller & looks sexier (sorry). I figure it'll be even easier to carry slung on my back but for the moment, for the money I'm liking this a lot. Spare shells in the sling which goes over my vest so she sits on my back. If I'm ditching the AEG then even more shells in the vest on the shell loops - saves having to take time out reloading in the safe zone TTI JW 4 - GBB's are so much improved. And I say that as someone who loved them. This has now replaced my beloved WA 1911 and I can't believe I've gone back to a double stack 2011. I tried lots but when I picked her up something clicked. The hop/takedown are quick, mags suffer less cooldown and in terms of range once I got the hop set - well she's perfect for pulling out and "going light" with a BFG or two. Very much feels like one of the old WA Inifinities - after I'd spent a fortune on metal gubbins, internals etc. but better - out of the box FFS! Pair of spare mags in an old mil-tec twin mag pouch on the belt (will be replacing soon as its knackered), gun sits in a Bianchi M84 on the belt. Lovely - you can keep your new fangled plastic holster things Marushin 8MM Redhawk - yes she's an antique but with a thorough clean and lube she's fine. Fill valve needs a strip and bit of plumber's tape every few months but in winter - on red - she's up to her old tricks. There is something so pure about considered shots with a 6 shot shell loader ... it honestly feels amazing. Pair of .44 magnum speedloaders on belt, she sits in a Bianchi Cyclone holster. When she gives up the ghost .... who knows. Might have to look at a den wesson if only to be able to keep my love of using nothing but a revolver & speedloaders in game occasionally Oh, and if anyone knows a source of 8mm BB's that's be great, although I'm down to my last 700 they should last a few years as I tend to only get through a dozen every skirmish. So that's where I'm at. It kinda feels comfy - like a modern upgrade of the kit "style" I know and love. When the weather warms up a bit I'll start venturing further afield - heard great things about the "x" site in Mold. Much prefer sneaky, muddy bog snorkelling/woodland play rather than speedball - although in building CQB does lead to me making disturbing sounds as I play. Airsoft is definitely more popular. the kit better, the choice in the UK so much wider (anyone else remember the says of WGC shop/Den trinity importing *everything*). People messing around with Western Arms kit - endlessly upgrading/fixing seems to have been replaced by a different bunch of people endlessly upgrading/fixing HPA guns - but I'm really enjoying getting back into this1 point -

Ahoy and welcome back. Are your local sites OK with 8mm? Do they even know what it is? I'd check about Dan Wessons as a few sites don't like them due to the ease of swapping shells after chrono. Nothing that you can't do with most other guns, but sites ban what they catch.1 point -
Won't be playing until mid-Feb, however just playing around with it... # It's perfectly clear. # The illuminated reticle is really good with clean edges. # The zoom is quite stiff to move, even with the throw lever (hopefully this will loosen with time) ... and as a one stop package, considering everything you get with it, I'm very happy (and it's passed the teenage son test, he wants one).1 point

Without hop a BB will hit the ground after half a second unless you lob it. Velocity is lost fastest at higher values. 1.14J on a .2 falls to the ground after 100ft, with hop 165ft. A .3 will travel another 10ft hopped. The main advantage for hop and BB mass is the longer time with a small drop, a .2 dropping a foot after 60ft unhopped and nearly 135ft hopped. A .3 will get another 10ft. Also a heavier BB arrives at its target sooner past 60ft.1 point

Welcome to the respawn point! Please don't take this the personally but after 7+ years, your old site has to act in the interests of its business and the wider airsoft community so they may question your intentions if you want to fast-track your renewal when you haven't played recently. Actually, yes to both. RIFT Airsoft launched a new CQB site (in the last 3 months) called the Battery near Great Dunmow. I can recommend it from experience having played at the site and seen it evolve through players' feedback.1 point

Very happy DE M906C and M904G user here, great value guns! I would say I can get through 4 high-cap Lonex flash mags in a game (so I've just bought an extra one), but I am a spammy full auto player out in the woods, so if you're only semi-auto in CQB, two mags should do ya. A battle belt with a harness gives you the extra option of carrying a holstered pistol on your hip as God intended, so don't rule them out1 point -

That'll be the "divine wind" imparted on the BB by the super Ninja Bucking that Gaijin clones are not allowed to use. They're a sneaky mercenary lot over there. Trust me - I know.1 point -
I mean, every Ares out of the box needs, as a bare minimum to keep the gun going for *at least* 6 months: New bushings, New piston body, New o-rings, New nozzle, New tappet plate, New hop rubber. That's out of the box, no matter what gun or gearbox version it is. Once you do these things you still have a gun with proprietary parts that can't really be modified without spending way too much. Back on topic, I did ask Ares about something a while ago and it took ages for them to respond, but at that point I had already sold the gun.1 point

Couple of new pieces have turned up. First is my mostly real steel MG3 build. Its off getting HPA'd right now, then back to me for some more airsoft to real steel conversion. Next, my G27K build is pretty much done. Still testing out the new EPM-1S midcaps, but so far 170 rounds in a 417 is so nice. Finally, work on my MG4 is nearing completion. Is anyone else noticing a trend here?... Still working on the custom MG4 optic, but its essentially done - just got to get it printed in a stronger format.1 point -
SE Tour Review: AWA Herts (Hertfordshire)
Galvatron reacted to Jim_furness for a topic
If this is the same person I think it might be I'd like to follow this up even though it is a few months ago. Sadly, we/I had to ask this person to leave site after the 2nd game due to them not being able to follow certain safety rules. The rule in question being eye protection being worn at all times outside of the safezone. Our google reply was as follows: "Hi Danu, Iβm really, genuinely sorry that we had to end your day and send you home early, but we are very clear that safety is our primary concern at AWA, and we have to send repeat offenders home. You should never, ever, take your eye pro off in the gaming area. You were warned twice personally, and a party to two group warnings as well as the warning in the morning safety briefing. We realise that this opens us up to revenge reviews, but despite our differences, Iβd rather send you home early with two working eyes and suffer the bad reviews than the alternative. Itβs the number one rule in airsoft, please, if you continue to play in future, at any site, you must take it seriously, you only get one set of eyes Danu, and we want you to keep them."1 point -
