  3. Controversial opinion from a bit of a 'boot nerd' myself - I own many nice pairs of boots - issued Haix, issued Aku, Lowa mountain boots, Lowa Zephyr etc. I started playing airsoft in the lowas, and the Akus. They were absolutely fine. But after a short while i decided a) they were too expensive to be bashing around the sites i play at, and b) they were still a little heavy/clompy for the task. So i started looking for boots that were cheapish, very lightweight and flexible (i.e. more towards the trainer end of the spectrum), and still had a waterproof membrane. Settled on on some (and here is the controversial bit) Magnums. One of the newer styles, mid cut - the 'Magnum Ultima'. e.g. https://www.workwearexpress.com/magnum-ultima-6.0-waterproof-uniform-boot?vat=inc&gclid=CjwKCAjw1YCkBhAOEiwA5aN4AZpqNmycjIivW1l-om8l5ZN1k2dfF8T2IvJhf1F7quJ2AOrAX_LjwBoCF5MQAvD_BwE#205=68&93=926&fo_c=4025&fo_k=cab0fb1b55b29929c9c1f946c2ce97e5&fo_s=gplauk I've used them for just over a year, and they have been great - both indoors and outdoors. Negatives - after about 8 months the waterproof membrane has broken down (still more protection than if it wasn't there, but water now gets through if the ground/grass is persistently wet), and the membrane is not the most breathable, so your feet get a bit sweatier than, say, in a very expensive goretex membrane (e.g. AKU's). I think I paid £60 for my pair a year back.

  5. It's worth noting that it actually has the same bolt lock as the G3 , not the MP5 ! However the mags from the factory have a slight over molding on the lock out lever that I trimmed with a razor blade and it took under a minute to do 3 mags. Once you do that you will find it locks out reliably and also that the bolt carrier closes fully

  6. My VFC LAR/FAL DX version landed in UK in late April, customs had it for 5 weeks. After the long and painful waiting, it finally arrived this week. Pretty confident it's the first DX FAL arrived in UK or even Europe. Shame that customs wanted to have more fun with it before I could get hold of The difference between the normal version and DX is the special wooden box, proper trades and every part of metal made of steel. Might be a bit overpriced but I'll pay for that as a super FAL fan

  7. Well, I’ve had a bit more of a play and I have to say, I’m extremely happy. I have no idea what it’ll be like to skirmish with, accuracy, power or longevity of parts, but for my purposes as a collection, display gun, it is absolutely awesome. It feels solid, everything clicks nicely and it looks beautiful, as you’d expect from VFC. Unfortunately, it has the same bolt block feature that the VFC MP5 has, which prevents the bolt and charging handle slamming forward with an empty magazine inserted. It does have a dry fire mode on the magazine, but it only appears to work for one shot, then clicks back over to normal mode. All in all, I’m a very happy bunny. Bring on the VFC M249.

  8. Book one The Horlicks of Bathtime Fountain To play you will need: 2 x 6 sided dice 1 x pencil 1 x paper note pad and Your imagination. Turn to page 1 Page 1 Your character. Choose one. The Milsimer You know the NSN number of all your kit. You have friends, they exist inside you head but at least they talk to you. Most likely to say “But that’s not tactically sound”. Your pew pew goes Bang. The Speedster You can outrun a speeding bb. Or a least you think you can. You had a friend once but they couldn’t keep up. Most likely to say “Yeet” or “I need more RPS”. Your pew pew goes Zzippppppp! The Sneaky Bastard You are so stealthy that you didn’t even sign in to the site. You don’t need friends just targets. Most likely to say, nothing silence speaks volumes. Your pew pew goes “ppssst” The DIY tech You fixed your friends RIF to make it better. May have been best to ask first however. Most likely to say “It was okay when I had it” Your pew pew goes “bap whizz clunk” Make a note of which character you are and then roll 2 x 6 sided dice. Then ignore this number and go to page 2.

  10. I had a JG Aug but it felt a bit creaky/cheap to me. I love an Aug but I wasn't keen on that one. I didn't realise there was a sports and pro line. My guess is I had the cheaper sports line one. Army armament make an Aug too. I know they are a budget brand but worth a mention.

  11. Thats just reminded me - Vans now do outdoor boot/trainer things. I got a pair of MTE 2 hi tops for japan, and they were great. Did about 15 miles a day on average and they were great. Would've been ruined in normal trainers. Something like these could be a good airsoft boot https://www.vans.co.uk/shop/en-gb/vans-gb/ultrarange-exo-hi-mte-2-shoes-vn0a4bvsyuu https://www.vans.co.uk/shop/en-gb/vans-gb/ultrarange-exo-hi-gore-tex-mte-3-shoes-vn0a5jhx77j

Echo One GAT Used for around a year (6/7 games) and hasn’t been used in over a year Worked great for a compact aeg with semi and full auto so great for CQB Upper receiver has been tweaked to fit small lipos internally and the original ugly foregrip has been lost to the void.

  21. Dan, I've been looking at the YDS Kestrel boots, they're in stock in 10W for me, grade 1, and reviews seem positive though they're 'only' a patrol boot and thus not very 'technical' in their features. But they're relatively lightweight (1.7kg) and reviews say they are comfortable out of the box. And I stumbled across a pair in size 13W ? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/325667286913 And here in standard width, in Aylesbury https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/134126926082 (£50 for either pair) Now I have had my eye on a pair of used but excellent condition Iturri Desert boots on eBay for a while. Size 10 W but the seller won't take a return, so it's a bit of a gamble they would actually fit, but there for £35. And the listing only has another half an hour to run. Is that a good bet, or should i keep looking for the Cold/wet Iturri, or the Karrimor SF in preference?

  29. It is a rather muddled situation. The seller (you) is the one committing the offence, so needs the defence. But it's the buyer who typically provides the seller with the evidence that they can use to adduce that defence if it ever becomes an issue (which it won't). So we tend to talk about "the buyer needing a defence", because that's the practical situation, when what we really mean, legally speaking, is that the buyer needs to enable the seller to have a defence. Buying (or attempting to buy) a RIF within the UK isn't an offence. If you can find someone who'll sell one to you, no questioned asked (2nd hand sales, for example) then you're fine to go ahead and buy without any worries. However, if you import a RIF (or cause one to be imported), manufacture one, or modify an IF into a RIF, that is an offence, and then you (the buyer/manufacturer/modifier) need to provide a defence for your actions. For importing, UKARA is the best known and easiest way of doing that. For manufacturing or modifying (or private sales), well, see if you can find anyone who will ever care. As long as the use is sensible, it'll never be an issue.
    1 point
  30. It’s the fine print, so can look contradictory You don’t require any UKARA membership or special status to sell But as seller it is you who are responsible under the VCRA - which means you the seller are responsible for ensuring that they have a valid VCRA ‘defence’ being their purpose for buying a RIF The buyer has no legal responsibility under the VCRA, but a seller should only sell to a buyer under one of the VCRA defences Cosplay is not a defence, but there is a dodgy cosplay insurance that a retailer put together UKARA is a defence, which a buyer may have. Anything else that they can present to you which you are willing to accept that they are an airsoft player will do - it’s unlikely but it someone caught a dickhead, told the police it was bought from you and a prosecution takes place then you may have to present your case as to why you reasonably believed they are an airsofter intending to play on an insured site Other defences exist such as museum, theatrical TV & film (but not YouTube prankster)

    Hi all

Sadly the wife vetod the hat, I do however regularly rock cowboy boots. Not much good for moving about though so think I'll stick to my deserts for this. ?
    1 point
  33. Errr. You do require[*] a defence to sell a RIF. You don't require anything to purchase, or attempt to purchase one within the UK, as long as you're 18+. Practically speaking, it's up to the buyer to provide the seller with some evidence that they can adduce as their defence, even if it's just a declaration about the intended purposes. But it's the seller that requires that defence. Pragmatically speaking, nobody is going to be done for a private sale of a RIF. If the tools of the State ever do take an interest (and they don't seem inclined to) it'll be easier for them to go after retailers. [*] Legally speaking

  35. Wouldn't know if video was any good, lost me with the self sales pitch..... I'll just trust the copy paste from legislation that you good folks do already....
    1 point
  36. As with the other posters a ‘Defence’ is required under the VCRA for the sale of RIFs but the definition of ‘defence’ in the act isn’t necessarily the English language definition As a seller it is you that has responsibilities under the act, and in the rare possibility that you could find yourself in court you would need to (English language definition) defend that you reasonably believed the buyers intended use fell within the VCRA defined defences. It is not a legal requirement for the buyer to have a valid UKARA number. Only the various purposes quoted above. If you can show that you reasonably believed that the buyer intended to play on an insured skirmish site and is aged over 18 then you are legal The ideal is to ask for UKARA details (if you can check them of course), but their social media account full of airsofting photos, or an established member of this forum would be good enough A social media account full of chav posing outside the off licence would not be considered ideal
    1 point
  37. Well, legally speaking you do need a defence[*]. Practically speaking, don't flog them to Big Baz behind the pub. [*] https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2006/38/section/37 (a) the purposes of a museum or gallery; (b) the purposes of theatrical performances and of rehearsals for such performances; (c) the production of films (within the meaning of Part 1 of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 (c. 48)_see section 5B of that Act); (d) the production of television programmes (within the meaning of the Communications Act 2003 (c. 21)_see section 405(1) of that Act); (e) the organisation and holding of historical re-enactments organised and held by persons specified or described for the purposes of this section by regulations made by the Secretary of State; (f) the purposes of functions that a person has in his capacity as a person in the service of Her Majesty. or, added later, "permitted activities", including "airsoft skirmishing", particularly where third party liability insurance is held. You'll hear people talking about "UKARA", which is really just a central list of people who have site membership. Personally I'd be happy selling to anyone who can tell me where they play, and show any sort of evidence of it.
    1 point
  38. To sell. I mean, point taken, but let's be absolutely clear that if he's 18+ then there's no offence committed by buying, or attempting to buy, a RIF within the UK. If he's under 18, someone call the UKARA police.
    1 point
  39. Honestly just forget about doing anything at all, it doesn't matter once its in your hands, the defence is to buy, owning it doesn’t break any laws , if you’ve bought it and its not two tone then your not going to have a firearms team storm your home over it, as long as your not a dickhead and go waving it around down the street that is

Absolutely It might do, it might not …. But I’ll happily deal with grey areas and potential contradictions with a degree of common sense, be happy with fools who fall foul of common sense getting pragmatic handling from the police and avoid definitive legal decisions in the meantime

The law in this area is an ass, three types of mule, and eleventeen varietals of pony-and-trap. We really need a comprehensive consolidation and consistency-check of all firearms and firearms related legislation, although that's very unlikely to play out in our favour.

    51% rule

And "yes" to the next dozen times you ask again. If you're 18 or over, then you can buy, or attempt to buy, a RIF with the UK, and own it. You aren't committing an offence by doing that, so you don't need any defence, or to worry about it in any way. If you can get your hands on it, you're good to own it. Please do be aware that possession of any RIF or IF in public is an offence unless you have (and can prove) a "reasonable excuse". The standard for that is very low: one piece of case law mentions "playing cowboys and indians". If you're at, or on your way to or from, an airsoft skirmish, you're good.
    1 point
  43. Tommikka

    51% rule

Short version - no Unless other legislation applies (you’re a criminal forbidden from possessing, or are irresponsible in public etc) then you’re all good The VCRA requires a ‘principal colour’ to be one of the listed bright colours (VCRA section 38) Thats generally interpreted as >50% to be the principal colour But as a buyer it’s not your problem, any VCRA sales offence is committed by the seller It’s up to them to worry about potentially needing to justify an IF sale The VCRA does not cover possession, and the only offence you may make under the VCRA is modifying an IF into a RIF (which may not be an offence if your intent remains to play airsoft skirmishing on insured sites)

You can tell how desperate he is). If that's an exemplar of the type of player they encourage, believe me I am saving you a lot of grief. Been there a few times, never again. Sadly yes thats gone. Awesome site.

  47. Rainbow six siege - advise to watch online or wait until they offer a free weekend as it's relatively expensive however it is fun and a good go to when you're bored Divinity original sin 2 - In depth RPG with team building. Good on co-op/team. Open play until fights where it's turn based actions. Easily sink hours into it, has replay ability to discover different quests, ways to improve, better fighting or spells etc Prison architect - Prison building simulation game, easy going and has a low learning curve to begin with Minecraft - you've probably heard of it, install mod packs to have a questing side of things, or just do your own thing. More fun with friends if you ask me. Red dead redemption 2 - Possibly the game of 2018? With a good pc you'll see why, excellent attention to detail and a fun game - online mode is not great though Cooking simulator - You control hands and try to keep up with orders, fun and quirky, frustrating and unforgiving but great. Recipes are always on display bit can get difficult to manage everything going on Green hell - Survival genre, difficult and no real tutorial so to speak. Learn from your mistakes. Very fun but again unforgiving. Ancestors - not out yet, similar to Green Hell, survival type game but more evolution based as you're a monkey working upto a human Football manager 2020 - out in November, if you're into football, manage a team however you don't play the actual football game itself. Can be tricky, huge depth of game. Very customisable and enjoyable, easy to sink hours into Baldurs gate 3 - Not out yet, been years since a balders gate came out, but the folks at Divinity Original Sin are bringing this one out so could be fantastic Age of Empires 4 - Again, not out, worth a pre order, of you think you'll enjoy it, recommend buying Age of Empires 2 (best of the set) Skyrim - Old, memed and glitchy, but one hell of a game. Open world exploration. Many quests, random encounters, be an ass or be a law abiding citizen and kill of the various guilds etc. Magic and melee skill moves. Great views from mountains Don't Starve - a few iterations of this game, there is a base edition as well as a sea/pirate one as well as an online version. The game is on the name, don't Starve, as well as don't get eaten in the dark etc. Survival game, unique graphics and gameplay. Fun, but again no real tutorial in game. Ramps up in terms of the learning curve the further you go in. Oxygen not included - From the makers of the above game, similar to don't Starve but this time it's trying to get people to stay alive in side of an area with a lack of oxygen. Unique graphics. Quite fun, big learning curve due to depth of in-game statistics Call of duty modern warfare (the newest iteration) could be as good as the previously good COD whenever that came out, time will tell. Dark souls 3 - Never actually played this, however based on what friends have said to me and what I've seen online, it's a very good game. Dubbed one of the hardest games in recent times. There is a small list of most of my favourite games. I tend to play online with friends now on most games but every now and then I just leave a game on in the background ticking away. I can't recommend Divinity original sin 2 enough though. Look at YouTubers playing these games, however I'd maybe watch 3/4 different people playing as some people give games a bad review/bad look by their way of playing - I know I do. Obviously it comes down to what you like as well. Try g2a.com to get a slightly lower price on some games however sometimes they are cheaper from original source i.e steam/Ubisoft etc. Let me know if you get any from the list and if you need help with anything I put some pre orders on there as well because these all look great
