  1. Like, ordering pineapple and anchovy pizza? Sorry to hear that you didn't get to play, but sometimes just a range day and watching some other mugs slog up and down a hill can be rewarding. We're doing simulated war crimes now? ๐Ÿค” Ah, I see you're a sidearm man of culture too. Love mine as a sniper secondary.

  2. Really great day, despite some technical issues. Good games, well fought, even though our team had the edge that day, it wasn't for lack of trying on the other team's part. In fact they had us on a timed assault game but someone threw a green smoke (toxic gas) which almost cleared the whole base but kept them standing around a couple of minutes while it burnt out. Just long enough to give us the win. Mp5k now feeds which is good, though I realised the alignment is really off with the nozzle, which is why it shoots so hard left. And the new ghillie works wonders already and it's not even finished yet! Getting looked over by someone that's only 10m away is a hell of a rush. Ah, wondered why I didnt see much of you today, not that I ever do ๐Ÿ˜‚ Hope you can get out there more soon ๐Ÿ‘

  3. I didn't really play today on account of my heart doing weird things at the moment and couldn't really work on my two m700s much because the temperature seemed to yoyo pretty incredibly today, so getting a consistent setup was nigh impossible. Plus it was incredibly windy on the range, so every shot curved to the left. Not good! I was about to go out to play, but I asked what the game was and was told that it was down at the bottom of the site, and considering I'm not allowed to do strenuous activity at the moment, I wasn't going up and down that damn hill. However, I did chat a lot with people there and I met @Hatchet (jury's still out whether that's a positive or a negative ). Just kidding, always good to meet more people from here! Way too cold though; where is spring?

  4. Second trip to Special Ops yesterday, and a much better all round experience this time... Did I cure myself of my predilection for taking everything plus the kitchen sink with me? Did I feck. 3 gun carriers (de m906, Tippmann, vfc hk416, g&g36c, Rossi sniper) , an IKEA bag with spare battle belt and clothes (that did stay in the car, along with the scuba tank), a kit bag full of ammo and gas cans plus assorted bits and pieces, and a tool box, meant I was struggling to get my get my gear from the car park to the safe zone. Luckily a chap volunteered to give me a hand and we ended up talking to each other for the rest of the day, made a friend! I was a bit more organised though and spent less time farting around and more time concentrating on my guns. Fewer people at the door helped too. Apparently the ticketing system broke the previous time and oversold tickets, this time it was 60ish rather than nearly 90. Made all the logistics easier, and so the chrono proceeding went more smoothly and the safety brief kicked off on time. Before that I tried to sort out my Tippmann and the VFC HK416. I failed. The Tippmann, after I changed to the recommended G&G green rubber, it shot inconsistently. I hadn't applied PTFE tape around the barrel or re lubed the action, it seems I have an inconsistent airseal... Sometimes running too hot, it didn't pass chrono. Also it was set to too high a RoF so would sometimes double fire on semi. It's definitely fixable but I decided to work on the 416 instead. I admit it, I sort of lost patience with the magazines. One decided to vent gas, maybe a dry o-ring, and with the other the cheapo BB speed loader wasn't very speedy... And I was finding it hard to get more than 10 or 15 BBs in there. It made tuning the hop and zeroing the sights a bit of a faff. The thought of trying to skirmish with one half full mag was a non-runner so I gave up. I really need to buy that HPA high cap off Powair6! I also sorted the G&G G36C. Got the hop set, full auto is a blast on that gun, but the semi auto isn't quite right... Sometimes I seem to get a low power shot from it, not a double feed. Odd. Nice gun though! Will be using it more in the future. The games were the usual mix but just seemed to flow better with all the marshals knocking off the rustiness from the long lay off, and fewer people to contend with. A bit of non hit taking from the youngsters in their bullet proof jackets, but if they don't take the first couple of hits, a long burst usually encouraged them to change their mind โ˜บ๏ธ I racked up a lot of kills (and a lot of deaths too), mostly thanks to the Double Eagle which stills surprises me with it's range and accuracy. I had the hop nicely tuned in, and once I zeroed the Eotech I was using (worked beautifully), I was getting nice headshots on the tree trunk peepers. A great day out all told, but I'd really like to get the other guns sorted properly. TL;DR... it seems I can only do 'too long', so you did't read this ๐Ÿฅด๐Ÿ˜‚

  5. Depends on your views (I personally love anchovy, but pineapple is heresy). I'm not at risk of suddenly keeling over, but my ECG scan on Thursday was, to quote my doctor, "fine, but odd". At the moment if I do too much I wake up at about 2am with palpitations and shortness of breath, severity depending on how much I did. Will probably get referred to a cardiologist to get it fixed, as it is likely a fixable thing, but until then I can't strain myself too much.

  6. After a very good day with the lad at Airsoft Plantation last weekend, I took myself off to AP's other site, Tower Airsoft, today. I was rather laden down with guns as I had the two AEGs that I was intending to play with and the lad's AKS74U, which I wanted to test as I had stripped and rebuilt it on Friday evening as it was underpowered and suffering from midcap syndrome. It was a typically good Tower day, with well organised games that worked with the numbers present and the nature of the site. I teamed up with three chaps and we formed an effective little squad of an LMG, a sniper and two assault rifles. However, the high point of my day was in a fall back game; having potted a few players from a favourite well concealed position, I let the opposing team advance past me and then stalked them from behind, racking up a number of kills that delayed their attack. My newly built LR300 was on the receiving end of some admiration, which was satisfying; it has been a long time in the making. I am now deciding where to play next. Guns used: A&K/G&G/E&C LR300 Ares VZ58 Milbro Classic M1911 CO2 (I really must get a better pistol!)

  11. What aspect of the MDR requires it to be designed in such a way that necessitates splitting the gun in half just to install a battery? My first thought was that Luke was going to pop off that black plastic butt pad to install the battery (like most other bullpup AEGs), but you have to split the gun in half instead? What's the reasoning for that?

  14. Itโ€™s hugely overblown issues. Luke hadnโ€™t read the instructions on how to change the battery, you donโ€™t remove all the pins. Whilst they are noisier than a typical AEG they do actually perform brilliantly. No doubt Silverback will revise the bevel gear, but no oneโ€™s had gearbox failure, it really is just a noise issue. As for James, he got a lemon. Not seen any other receivers flex that bad.

  15. Haven't been out in a couple months so got the gear ready, charged a couple of batts, pre loaded the mags. Got on site brought the wrong holster and left all my mags on my desk. So just Marshalled all day. I am so out of shape I fell over trying to duck under a fallen tree. Today was not a good day.

  19. Couple of pictures from last week, pretty much my standard rig. Army surpless clothing ,DPM this time, basic plate carrier (cant remember the brand) loaded with surpless stanag pouches. Topped off with the L119A2 GBBR and my G18 in a belt holster. Sometimes I run mtp, or Auscam or a mix of any of them, but otherwise the setup remains consistant unless I'm running one of the 249's then I dont bother with the carrier.

  20. The last piece of the puzzle now arrived. A custom made full steel accurate L7A2 barrel to finish off my steel L7A2 gpmg. Just need to get it engraved with the original Enfield markings, and to get it altered to take the original inokatsu hop unit. Now going to convert my old barrel into the newer type HK L7 barrel, and to use to replicate blank use too.

    A sadist, a masochist, a murderer, a necrophile, a zoophile, and a pyromaniac are all sitting on a bench in a mental institution. "Let's have sex with a cat?" asked the zoophile. "Let's have sex with the cat and then torture it," says the sadist. "Let's have sex with the cat, torture it, and then kill it," shouted the murderer. Beginner sling sorrows...

    @GAMBLE Have you seen this?
    1 point
  29. I would avoid bungee type slings unless you go for top end RS stuff. The 2 i've had - 1 was so tight and none bungee, it was too short. The other was the opposite end of the spectrum and was so elastic, the barrel could comfortably touch the floor

  30. Well got my first game since July on Sunday I think marshalling all the time was taking the fun out of things for me and the Site Owner and the other guys pressured me into playing. Glad I did I was able to help issue some justice to the known offenders of non hit taking ๐Ÿ˜‚ Thoroughly enjoyed myself, and got the 416 out for my inaugural run with it๐Ÿ‘Œ

  31. I'm playing my first game in a loooooong time, and went a bit bananas today trying to work out what I needed. So I put all my kit into a spreadsheet (and greyed-out the stuff I'm not taking / don't need) It's a bat-shit crazy amount of kit I know it's quite an OCD thing to have done... I wish I could attend to important things with as much diligence The TL;DR version is Comfy clothes (plenty of cheap army surplus available) Decent boots with some ankle support (the first time you trip over a tree root or stick your foot in a hole, you'll thank yourself for buying them) They're a very personal thing, but I took a punt on Swiss Paratroopers' boots which are heavy, but good. Eye protection: Bolle Tracker 2's a cheap and good starting point, or British Army ESS goggles perhaps. Half or full face mask (cheaper than a visit to the dentist) Perhaps a Dye full-face mask if you're thinking of CQB. Baseball cap or bush hat (scalp shots hurt, protect yourself at least a bit) Gloves (knuckle shots hurt too) - Mechanix are great value. Battle belt or chest rig + mag pouches. You can just stuff things into pockets, but it's just not tacti-cool If you're thinking of spending upto ยฃ500 on a RIF then you could be choosing AEG, gas or HPA "The world's your oyster" - make some friends and ask to try their guns out on the field for a few shots, you'll soon get an idea which way you want to go (might be all 3 of course, in the long term) We usually advise it's best to rent for a few games, make sure you really enjoy it first before splashing major cash though. There are plenty of separate threads for more discussion on all these things so have a search... see if they help at all. Good luck and have fun! (And call your hits)

  32. Good eye protection is key. I have a set of Heroshark mesh glasses with a prescription insert that I find myself using the most, since it's mesh and provides a lot of airflow which helps keep the inserts from fogging up. I also have a set of Revision Sawfly glasses, again with a prescription insert, for when it's a bit warmer and my glasses don't steam up as much. If you don't need prescription inserts, both are still very good. Boots are important too, but I wouldn't say that you need to splash out hundreds on them. I'm using a pair of boots that cost me about ยฃ50 and they're doing just fine. As long as it has ankle support you'll be good. I'd also want to pick up some camos and some load-bearing kit from your local army surplus. Can pick up a set of DPM or MTP as well as some sort of vest or webbing for pretty cheap. Not totally necessary, but helpful. In terms of gun... there's no right answer (though there are definitely wrong answers!). It comes down to what you like aesthetically since pretty much all airsoft guns function the same way; you can use a small SMG in woodland and have the same range as the guy with the full length m16. So I guess my question would be what sort of guns do you like? AKs? M4s? MP5s?
